Very accommodating good food

5/5 food with 1/5 service. This is the best restaurant in Lucerne if you are looking for authentic Swiss food, and second place isnt even close. But if you are an American, they really dont want your time, business, money, or service. Dont be afraid to go to the cash register and order your beer up, dont be afraid to go to the register and order your food. Dont let the terrible service keep you from eating some of the best food in the country. They wont shoot you, and its still one of the best meals of my life regardless of whatever spit they did or didnt put in it. Theres a schnitzel with cognac (Rahmschnitzel vom kalbnierstuckand I am becoming hungry just editing the photos of it. The brandied pear with cinnamon ice-cream is worth the pain of eating it on top of your generous portions. This place is, in my opinion, the world record holder on quality gap between how amazingly good the food is, and how amazingly indifferent to me the waitstaff were. Do it anyway. And fingers crossed you get treated better than we did.

Quaint little restaurant set a little away from the main hubbub of chapel bridge and the train station. The dining space is traditionally decorated and doesnt look like it has changed in decades. The food itself is a mixture of German, Swiss and French dishes - think Wiener schnitzel, veal cordon bleu and Rosti potatoes. All are fine but nothing outstanding. Service is similar, fine but not overly speedy or friendly. Three stars.

Ein Wirtshaus wo keine Gäste mehr nötig hat. Die Vorspeise (Kalbskopf Vinaigrettewar sehr fade, ohne Sauce und von Vinaigrette war keine Spur. Früher war dies in dem Lokal eine Delikatesse. Heute sollte man solches lieber lassen wenn man die Thematik vom Gericht nicht versteht. Der Hauptgang ( Stroganoff mit Risottowar kalt und lieblos. Bei der Reklamataion hat der Koch einfach meinen Teller im Steamer regeneriert und mir genau so wieder servieren lassen wie ich ihn zurück gegeben hatte. Bei der Nachfrage von der Chefin des Hauses, ob alles okey sei und ich meinen ummut bekannt gab, wurde ich von ihr angegfiffen und beleidigt. Was die gute Dame nicht wusste, ich stand jahrelang selber in der Küche und verwöhnte Gäste sogar als Wirt. So eine Reaktion einer Wirtin ist unterste Schublade. Ein kleines Entschuldigung und eventuell ein Grappa (Was für ein Wirteine kleine Sache ist, wird man noch beschimpft und soll das noch bezahlen.Ich war das letzte Mal dort.Guten Tag

Super Service, schöne Lokalität, feines Essen, fairer Preis.

Nous étions cinq adultes pour le repas de midi. Beaucoup de tables étaient libres. Le personnel voulaient absolument nous installer à une table ou des clients mangeaient déjà. Nous avons refusé et ils nous ont proposé une autre table en nous asseyant la sommelière est arrivée et a demandé à un adulte de se mettre en bout de table! Pourquoi on nous sert comme des sardines à plusieurs clients sur la même table ! Inadmissible en temps de pandémie. Accueil froid et désagréable ! Nous sommes allés à quelques mètres plus long au wirtshaus Taube et nous avons été magnifiquement bien reçu !

L’accueil était vraiment désagréable dès que nous sommes rentrés. Nous avions réservé, mais en arrivant ils voulaient nous mettre à une table avec quatre autres personnes, alors que nous étions déjà cinq adultes. Le restaurant était presque vide donc nous avons demandé une autres table. La serveuse nous a répondu sèchement de nous mettre à la table à côté. Nous nous sommes assis et là de nouveau, on nous dit sèchement de nous s’asseoir au bout. Nous avons donc décidé d’aller manger ailleurs.

Amazing authentic food in a cozy atmosphere run by a lovely family. Portions are huge and fairly priced. VERY recommended.

Wunderschönes Lokal mit einer unvergleichlich guten Küche. Hier erhält man noch perfekt zubereitete „Hausmannkost“ und sonstige Klassiker. Einfach phantastisch!Reservation erforderlich.Auch heute, 12.10.2019 wieder wunderbar! Das Pôt-au-feu war Klasse, die Vorspeise, Lozärner Chügeli-Paschtetli, auch 😊

The food was traditional swisd german cuisine. We had rosti and sausage which was good but the sauce is too salty. Not sure if its supposed to be that salty originally. Wasnt really impressed when we are seated in a long table with other couples while the rest of the restaurant was empty! And we were asked to move when we sat the other side of the long table. The waitress wanted us to seat side by side with other couples which made the ambience weird since we can hear other couples were in private conversation (or date!). Owner came to our table and very friendly. They should give the waitress training about customer service, its such a shame since the restaurant is inherited generation to generation

A friend told me that Wirtshaus Galliker has the best rosti in Luzerne so I decided to try it. Its very good, no doubt about that, the restaurant is very nice (conveniently located in the city centreand service was friendly and helpfull. I strongly recommend it if you are nearby.

3 Stars for the Meals, 2 missing for the service. We decided to go there because i wanted a Nueslisalat, my Company (Swisssaid i know which Restaurant has the Best.....Salad was good. The bad thing here was when we order, the woman at service was OK till i said "i do not want a main dish"....pity, real pity.......whos the Client here? It is amazing how in many Places in Switzerland, like HERE, the service people is tasteless.....if a Client just order a small thing in your Eyes....take the order and silence.......no rude comments.....anyway, i guess if business partners or friends come to Luzern, definitely i will not recommend this Restaurant.

Excellent food, rubbish service. Wonderful owner that chats merrily, terrible staff whom I can only assume is his Daughter due to privilege.Was denied a seat on my forth consecutive and final visit despite having a few empty tables at the corner of the restaurant. Essentially asked to leave.A complete 100% change from the extremely friendly owner. An owner whom I had such a great in-depth conversation with that he revealed his favourite restaurant in Singapore (UOB Plaza Sichuan Douhua btw if you are reading).Pity.

We enjoyed a very lovely dinner in a classic atmosphere. Excellent service. There is an issue of trying to find entrance....it is around the back despite signage. Once you get in.... it is great. Suggest reservations. Lots of locals. Excellent choices on menu. We had beef strogehoff and veal cordon bleu. Both very good. Food was really good, one of the better meals we had in Switzerland! We enjoyed appetizers, traditional main dishes and local beers to accompany. Prices were expensive, and typical for Luzern. Service was friendly, and the owner took some time to chat with us during and after our meal.

Only one visit. Food was really tasty, staff was friendly. Small but nice selection of Swiss wines. Recommend highly.

Restauracja okupowana raczej przez miejscowych, w sporej mierze osoby starsze. Klimatyczny wystrój, smaczna kuchnia, ale przygotujcie się na ceny typowo szwajcarskie. Uwaga wejście jest dość specyficzne. Wchodzi się od zaplecza, a następnie zza lady baru.

The food here was very salty. Not only my dish, all my friends dishes were also salty

The food is excellent and very authentic! Owner is amazing and the building is filled with history. Many of the locals eat here too. A must visit if youre in Lucerne!

Ordered the veal steak with rosti and vegetables and it was the best thing in the world. Impeccable service, good energy level, nice selection of wine and beer. So glad I came!

Good food but the service didn’t match the quality of the food. Waitresses were impatient and seemed rude.

This is a nice place with family history, tasty traditional food and drinks. Friendly staff. Dont forget to book your table. Theres no parking

Fantastic food, although maybe not so healthy. Claims to be running since the 1600s. Friendly staff and English menu.

Amazing food and service. This is the real deal Swiss traditional food. I had the veal sausage and my wife had the heute pot au feu. Think amazing broth stew with meats, sausages, potatoes, cabbage and bone marrow. Matched with a local merlot. The service was warm and attentive like being at grandmas house

Supposed to close at midnight, we were turned down at 21:05 on a Saturday saying kitchen is closed

Great Authentic Food! Family owned for generations. They’re all very friendly! I had the Red Beet Salad, Smoked Trout (sharedand the Stroganoff! All great! If you want to get away from the Touristy Food and try a local place, this is it!

Very good homemade Swiss food. Server was very friendly and spoke English. She was very nice and explained the menu to us and the sauces.

很舊式的瑞士餐廳，服務人員也很客氣。我們沒有預訂，去到餐廳就和其他現場到的人共用一長桌。因為我吃素，又不想一直只吃生冷的沙拉，請服務員推薦熱食，果然還不錯，魔菇與杏鮑菇的醬汁很濃郁，很大一盤，但是我幾乎快將它吃光。但是很奇怪的是：我們雖然沒訂位，但是吃到8:00多，整個餐廳空位還很多。但是我們四組不同的顧客，共9人，卻被安排在一進門的大長桌。我看之前的照片，那位子應該就是二張桌子合併，一張桌坐4人，最多坐8人。但服務員卻將我們不同顧客的餐墊紙放的很貼近。我左手邊的客人立刻將餐墊紙拉開。仔細瞧了一下，9個人中只有一個不是東方人。這難道是對東方人的歧視嗎？

I know that many a Swiss local in Luzern will not like the fact that Im going to expose the best restaurant in Switzerland as it will be surely too busy for them to get a regular table. But... Oh my God!!! The food is fantastic, the staff are attentive and friendly and if you want local cuisine go no where else! I love venison (hirschentrecotebut this was cooked to perfection with perfect accompaniments of chestnuts, wild mushrooms, poached apple and cranberry conserve, served with fried diced potato and spiced red cabbage. A true gem, if in Licence after the lion monument come here!

great service. the hostesses and wait staff speak many languages. but the food did not earn the fifth star. it was only good. not exceptional. they did give me a free shot of egg liqueur at the end of the meal. which was a fun surprise.

Great Swiss food, in a warm and friendly place. Staff very pleasant and helpful given our lack of German. Very authentic and a feeling that it is a real local for many.
