Good food good prices and very friendly staff. First time here definitely be coming back.
Lovely patio dining, staff there are so accommodating. Pricey for the portions.
Well worth going to this great restaurant. My buttermilk pancake breakfast was amazing. Very delicious. I would recommend. On the other hand my wife didnt really care for her veggi frittata . Maybe someone who is vegan might like it, but just a caution.
Good ol exchange...
I love this place. A friend and I found it on our first trip to Winnipeg. The cafe is causal and the owners and staff provide incredible service. Prices are reasonable for a great breakfast. Highly recommend.
Get their Japanese dishes, the sandwiches are great too, but the real hidden gems are the Yakisoba and similar dishes. Polite and friendly staff and its not crazy expensive
I live out of town but I come here every time I am in town.Great food .I specifically come here for their breakfast. Ive also had their udon and ramen and both are very good. You walk in and order your food at the counter from a large chalkboard. You then pay ( debit credit, cash applepay). You then get your food served by very friendly staff.A little gem inside a great area of town.
This is the best breakfast in downtown Winnipeg (exchange district!). We came to winnipeg for 10 days for work and ate here almost everyday. The food and coffee are delicious- especially the standard breakfast! The service is fast and exceptional, prices are more than fair, and the portions are huge. Seriously- a breakfast plate will fill you until dinner time. Will definitely be back whenever I’m in winnipeg. The family that owns this small local business is fantastic. Highly recommend.
Really great wonton soup.
Had the free press burger for lunch the other day while clearing snow bit the bullet on the price tag but so glad I did probably top three burgers Ive ever had amazing amazing Burger potato salad had a decent flavour to it Dijon I think but the potatoes were a bit hard will definitely return
Affordable good food and friendly service in a really nice setting.
This is a lovely place down in the Exchange (must see area if you’re in Winnipeg). The waitress is so kind and friendly, and the food was delicious. Quite, peaceful music playing, friendly people coming in and out to get their regulars. Just a wonderful breakfast spot I would definitely come back to on my next visit to Winnipeg! Thanks for the great meal!
great service, friendly people and delicious food. always a treat.
Very friendly staff. Food is amazing. Heres a breakfast takeout :)
Great exchange district spot for breakfast and lunch. Service is so good that its a reason in itself to go grab a bite.
Often drop in for lunch because of the awesome friendly service. She always remembers what my bf and I normally order and always had a smile on her face when she sees us. I’m so glad they’ve survived the pandemic so far and hope to continue eating here weekly as things return to normal.
Had a terrific lunch made better because my son paid. Lol very clean and inviting space.
Dave and I go regularly for Saturday breakfast and do the NYT crossword. The service is always super friendly and the breakfast menu is great! Good portions and always more coffee. Thankyou!!
Love their food & the sweetest owners! They have the best sandwiches. If you ever go downtown, you must try their burgers and sandwiches with their homemade lemonade.Pictured: ham and cheese omelete❣️
Delicous fresh food and friendly service. Cant wait to go back 😊
Great place for a fast and tasty lunch. The sandwiches are awesome. The ladies that work here are always so friendly and kind. Highly reccomend checking this place out!
Good food, reasonable prices, with interesting and delicious food specials, and great all day breakfast options. The staff always seems happy and is very friendly. And best of all Ive found when I order something that they happen to be out of, Ill have to change my order but they will try to include some sort of bonus to my meal (free desert, drink, or larger portionto make up for it, which is awesome and kinda makes me feel lucky that they didnt have my original order rather than feeling let down.
This hidden gem, our friendly neighbour, Winnipeg Free Press News Cafe has a wonderful ambiance and fantastic food right at the heart of the Exchange. Dont just take our word for it, try it out yourself 😋 they have everything from sweet to savoury.
I always love sandwiches from here and thr food is always so fresh, portions are nice as well.

Winnipeg Free Press News Café convinces with friendly customer service, great food and reasonable prices. Its possible to sit on a little patio outside in the summer.
$13 (after taxfor a double-patty avocado teriyaki burger! They were even kind enough to do a free switch of the cheese for mushrooms. Sadly the wifi didn’t work on the patio.
Central and convenient location. The food is always freshly made and delicious. Buy what sets this place apart for me, is the level of customer service. The owners and workers are very kind and thoughtful, and accommodating to families with young children. The perfect place to stop off at, while youre exploring the Exchange! Be sure to try their fresh ginger lemonade!
An amazing ginger and lemon soda, refreshing and delicious. It is a must when you are at the Exchange District.
Super sweet and friendly staff, great atmosphere, and delicious food!! Such a great spot for brunch!
Never disappointed with the friendly Saturday staff, the Classic Breakfast and Manitoba Club. Reasonable price. There is usually an assortment of the weeks papers.
I worked there and it was horrible.Indeed it was about 5 years ago but the owner and head chef rinsed a hard oiled egg in water that had raw chicken thawing, and hashbrowns(even for vegetarian orders), w er re cooked on the same parchment as bacon.I dont know if the owner remembers me, but I never showed up for more than 1 shift, the kitchen was also filthy.
Great place love the view, Ive only tryd the Londin Fog , and chicken ceaser wrap , it was definitely good .
Amazing staff, so sweet and friendly; as well as artistic. Put care into everything they do, and it really shows. Food taste great, the chef really knows his way around a kitchen. 5/5 will always come back!
Friendly staff. Good food. Nice atmosphere. Its nice to find a place open in the mornings.
I highly recommend this place if you want a good coffee and breakfast/lunch for reasonable price. Everything tastes like housemade; I will always remember their amazing bulgogi empanadas, so delicious ! The staff is also super friendly.
Internet didn’t work, washrooms were smelly, coffee was expensive and average, parking very expensive. Staff was good though. I wouldn’t recommend.
I went with a group of friends to their First Friday event evening. A monthly community event that starts at the cafe, with a supper, usually very nice, and a talk about some currently interesting topic. After dinner a guide will take you around the district and visit several studios and galleries that stay open especially for this event. Ive been to several over the last 2 or 3 years and they gave always been worth the effort.
Awesome !! Great burger and hot korean food.
Dont let the mediocre baked goods on the counter turn you off. Since we lost Underground Cafe this is where you can get a breakfast sammich, as well as some rather delicious spicy ramen for lunch.
Interesting place when they have guest speakers. The food choice is ok, but they have lots of variety for coffee and tea.
Really good lunch food! The ramen noodles are great and the staff are very warm and friendly. A little pricey considering the quality and variety of competition in the area though.
The food, service and atmosphere are great! The prices are fair.I really enjoyed the unique sweet potato latte.
Good selection of teas and coffees. They also sell some food as well. Place was clean, staff friendly, lots of large windows to watch the streets outside. Neat place!
If you want interesting events with your coffee, this is the place to be. Lots on news worthy people and events pop in here. Decent menu, good pricing, and great location.
Nothing was happening when we were there but the food was good. I had the Chipotle chicken sandwich with potato salad, Delicious! Would definitely go back!
Its a great location, and hosts a lot of interesting events. The food is good but nothing special. I go for the events, not the cafe itself.
Great location, in the heart of the Exchange District. You will often come in and be treated to a live broadcast interview with a local celebrity! My favorite order is the pulled pork sandwich with the potato salad side. Seating is available outdoors during the summer months, which is perfect for some of the outdoor festivals!
I had the Chroizo Sausage and Egg, and it was perfect. Whats more, the price was just right for the quality of food. Id prefer being served at my table rather than purchase at the counter, but oh well. I will return.
