Winebar do Castelo - Chafariz do Vinho in Lisbon

Enrico was a very good guide through the experience of Portuguese wines. I really recommend this winery, also because it is in a very unique place: a part of an ancient acqueduct! Wines are served with local cheese and cold cuts.

Absolutely perfect! Location is an ancient cellar. You just ask for your favourite taste and you get some wines to test: you can choose the one you prefer without any extra cost. Cold cuts are mandatory, but you can eat whatever you want. Affordable for anyone: it just depends on how much you’d like to spend (and what taste you are looking for!)

Phenomenal experience. Tasted twice as many wines as expected (all Portugueseand was delighted with so many of them - particularly the whites.Nuno’s a walking wealth of wine knowledge who’s happy to share his expertise when engaged.I sat at 5pm and had the entire establishment to myself until 7:15! Show up early for some privacy :)I will be back next time I’m in Lisbon for sure.

The management and service at this wine bar is just awful! My fiance and I showed up and they turned us away after saying the wait was 2 hours and they were not polite about it. We decided to give them another chance and tried again the following day. We showed up at 1335 after checking on google that they opened for business at 1330. When we showed up, the manager/owner was having a meal with his employee and turned to us and said, "come back in 40 more minutes!". 40 minutes?! That would have been 1415, which is 45 minutes after their posted opening time! That was so insulting and rude especially since we went out of our way to get there. I never went back to this place and I am a regular visitor to Lisbon.

I really had an excellent time here. The host was very helpful, courteous and knowledgeable regarding the wines. I was able to taste a few recommended choices prior to committing to glass. This place has a wide selection of wines from every region in Portugal proudly represented.Also, I would highly recommend the meat and cheese board to pair up with your wines. The pata negra ham and salami is of outstanding quality.

I had one of my best moments during my visit in Lisbon at this place. The stuff is amazing and they are suggesting good local wines. You can have really good conversations there, while you are having your wine and great cheese and chorizo

Wiled away a wet afternoon in Lisbon here, getting a tour through vinho verde and various reds - lovely place to sit and taste great wine. Great service but gets crowded so be prepared to spend a leisurely time here!

Excellent service. Our host was very knowledgeable and we were able to taste several wines before choosing. A large and comprehensive list of Portuguese wines and ports. Simple tasty food available.

Went here for my husbands birthday as he lives cheese and port. We were expecting something special, but this exceeded all expectations. Enjoyed amazing wines, cheeses and meats. This is a must!

Great service by knowledgeable and passionate staff. 150 different wines to choose from, some as cheap at €5. The waiter would ask what styles of wines we liked and then bring over 4 choices to taste before picking. Amazing value and experience, would go again if I had time!

Amazing wine bar. A group of 6 of us had a most enjoyable afternoon trying wines and eating cheese and meats. Definitely recommend if you have some time to sit and enjoy the experience. Nuno was a wonderful host 😁

7 tables and s few bar seats with over 100 wines by the glass. Staff is a little arrogant when I asked them how they are able to keep so many wines fresh served by the glass they replied “we know what we’re doing”. However Three is no wine preservation system. Many reds are out on the bar uncorked and a few have vac u vin stoppers. Many bottles sit out on high shelves unrefrigerated. But you can get a good introduction to the ever expanding variety of Portuguese wines and they provide a taste first.

Awesome service. The port tasting was incredible and they took the time to really educate us on the product. Would highly recommend to anyone one wanting to try port, wine, and local cheese/chacuterie.

A one of a kind place where ALL wines are offered by the glass. You are offered a taste test of a selection of wines specifically chosen for you. The cheese is scrumptious too. It’s a non pretentious place with high quality wines, cheese and attentive one on one service - an ideal place any time of day!

After visiting hundreds of wine bars across Europe, this one is among the best. Friendly owner who knows a lot about wines in general and whose recommendations would not disappoint you. The cheese/ham is nothing special, but the rest is worth 6 stars so 5* total :)

Very knowledgeable locals, proud to serve their wine. They help you to find your preferred wine,let you taste and choose. Take some time to fully enjoy your experience. Not touristy at all, just a nice hidden place, full of great, quality wines...all by the glass. Must go when in Lisbon.

Fantastic wine bar. Very knowledgeable staff who can guide you through the complexities of Port, wine and food pairing if you are an amateur enthusiast like I am.There is a large range of Port, from single vintage to late vintage and beyond. Cheap but palatable choices all the way up to a 1932 Ruby Port (pictured but unfortunately not sampled).Lovely cosy surroundings. Great service. Not rushed. And if you like the drinks they are available to purchase by the bottle to take home (competitively priced).Dont hesitate. If you like a Port or two, pop by.

Had a lovely time here on a Monday night. The owner was extremely kind and knowledgeable. We simply explained the flavors we like and the degree of body or sweetness and he delivered every time. We had two rounds and the cheese plate "for four". There were 3 of us and it was more than enough. The bed was amazing, cheese amazing, olive oil wonderful...it just got better and better. This is a wine bar and not a restaurant. If you want the perfect Portugal wine experience with knowledgeable people...this is it! Highlight of our time in Lisbon.

Cant recommend this little bar enough. We had the taster selection of Ports with cheese. The owner couldnt be more knowledgeable and passionate . Fabulous.

Dont be fooled by the location. This is not a tourist trap! The selection of wines is excellent, as is the service. Come here to taste some great Portuguese wines, and see the castelo later if you have time!

Surprised to find such a high quality wine bar so close to the castle. They really know and love wines. Sampled 3 bottles and then settled in to a full glass of red Duoro. Ordered a 20€ plate of Iberico ham to share which was so worth it. The bread and olives are amazing - best bread all trip.

Had a fantastic time here tasting a variety of Portuguese wines and ports. Rui Costa is very knowledgeable and provides a wealth of advice on wines, ports and madeiras. Cant recommend this place enough

This place has a great variety of wine, the people working there know a lot about wine, what they do is they asked us how we liked our wine, let us try a couple, then we picked the one we wanted to pay by glass, a very nice way for us to learn more abt Portuguese wine, they also have cheese, dried meat and sausages

The gentleman who served us clearly loves and knows his wines. Selected several wines to try before we chose what glass we were going to order. Had Portuguese wines and their geography explained. Highly recommend this place!

The area around the castle is geared up for tourists in a tacky way. Dont let this put you off this great bar as there is nothing "touristy" about it. Owner has a passion for good wine, cheese and meat. Great bar. Great service.

The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the 150 wines he has on offer. He likes to talk, in a friendly way, and share his knowledge. Bring time when you come here and you wont​ be disappointed.

We came here by chance 3.5 years ago with a group of friends, loved it!! Sought it out this visit. Its still fabulous. If you love wine and cheese and meats, this place is for you. If not, keep on walking. If you dont speak Portuguese dont worry.... the guy who works here not only knows all about wine, he seems to speak most common languages fluently. What a star!

Absolutely great experience. The owner offers to try several types of wine and tells about each sort of wine in a very interesting way.The food was great as well. Stuff is very friendly.

The owners are amazing. I especially appreciate how considerate and attentive they were, even considering I traveled alone. Their recommendations were excellent, amazing port and charcuterie boards, cheese, etc. Would come back every night, I had such a wonderful time.

I heard great things about the wine tasting in Lisbon so I decided to try it out.That was a good way to discover Portugese wine, but that was all.I personally would suggest a different company unless you want only good wine.

We were expecting a very touristy experience because of the wine bars close proximity to the castle, but were very pleasantly surprised.The owner is very knowledgeable and can quickly suggest wines for you to try. If you dont like what he suggested, youll get something else - no questions asked.The wines the owner suggested were great as was the homemade bread and olive oil that accompanied them.

We arrived without booking and we accept of sitting at the bar. Diogo was amazing, he dined and wined us, suggesting the perfect choices for our tastes, showing a deep knowledge of his country. The wines we got were incredible. Meat, cheese, and olive oil selections even more.

We took a group for a wine tasting and had a wonderful experience, the wines were excellent, everything was explained by our host. The cheese and meat selection went well with the wines, the cheeses especially showed a great range of local produce.All in all we had a great time!

These guys know their wine and are super friendly. Try some wines, have a small bite, and enjoy on the way to/from the castle. Thanks again!

Got a small wine tasting from a friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic chap. Enjoyed a fantastic glass of port and tasted olive oils and a cherry jam to die for. All for a very agreeable price.

Such a gorgeous little gem! Great wine selection, amazing food to go with the wine and super friendly staff that can (and will, if youre up for ittalk hours about the Portuguese wines. Went three times during our holiday after a recommendation and will definitely come back! Make sure you make a reservation on the same day or the day before, the place is quite popular in the evenings.

Not a foodie myself, but this was an unforgettable experience. First, they insist on seating only the number of people they can deliver a top notch tasting experience to, but decided to take us in anyway after seeing that we had trouble making a reservation without a local phone.These guys are extremely knowledgeable about wine (in an impressive number of languages, at thatand the accompanying cheeses and meats. The selection of jams were also unreal; Im still thinking of the tomato jam, unlike any Ive had. And you can buy jars to take home. Overall, best-in-class, and a perfect addition to a view of the sunset from Castelo de São Jorge. Must-do.

They service was really good and they speak English. The server helped us narrow down our wine choices by taste preference and how much we wanted to spend. Then he brought over 3 varieties and let us taste about an ounce and a half of each for free. Very cool. We then selected our best choice. They also have regional cheese and charcuterie. Very recommended to taste the typical wines of Portugal!

Had an awesome afternoon here touring all the wines of Portugal if you love wine and awesome food and want a cruisy place to experience quality Portugal produce this is the place to come. We have been touring Spain and Portugal for 3 weeks haunting foodie places and this afternoon was probably the best we had. Ask for Diogo, he is a legend and paved a road of happiness for us to explore that was tailored to our taste. I never recommended anything, I made a point of going online to rate this place.

Like visiting a living encyclopedia of Portuguese wine. Ive been in the wine biz for 25 years and these guys know their stuff. Great cheese and meats, oils and jams. Plus they have a collection of older wines that will leave you drooling. My kids even loved it!

Something rude I have never seen! All the tables were occupied and cute couple from Germany has offered to put us at the table. We come from Germany and therefore fit the offer good to know about. The owner has forbidden us! He do not always! There are 1000 Wine bars in Lisbon but in the Wine Bar do Castelo go I would not go.
