Tour the historic royal castle full of spectacular art and antiques, plus grounds and chapel.
Stunning displays of art, weaponry, and the Queens various jewels. The castle is huge. My favourite part was the Chapel. Absolutely gorgeous! Many staff were on the grounds to explain facts and point us in the right direction. It was a great historical experience.
An amazing place to visit. Spent the day there with plenty to see and do. You need to get your spot at the front early to see the changing off the guards as it was very busy when we went. The moat garden is worth a visit and there were some chairs to sit in and chill out. The state rooms are well worth a visit and the dolls house. Altogether an enjoyable day in a lovely place hopefully we will go back again soon 😀 😊
What a beautiful castle inside and out. Entrance is £26 but it’s worth going in. Plan to stay there at least 3 hours as there’s just so much to see. Free audio guide is provided.
It is a beautiful estate but utterly expensive. Long line for tickets and the parking is an absolute nightmare on top of being expensive. The area around the castle is lovely and lively, offering shops, cafés, restaurants and much more. Please allow at least three hours to see the castle and its surroundings.
I visited Windsor in 2008. The train journey from London is wonderful. The whole town is very beautiful and charming. The castle is dreamlike. I wish I could walk through the entire castle and into every little room...Definitely visit it!
Very interesting! It was great to see inside.Tip: I recommend going with a tour group early on in the day or else you will be waiting for a very long time.Tip: There is an audio guide and I do recommend you take it if you have time. It gives a lot of info that isn’t written.Tip: I recommend giving yourself more time than you think, about an hour and a half to two to see all the staterooms.Tip: If you see the Queens flag, she is there!! If you see the British flag, she is not there. She wasn’t there when I visited.Tip: If the queen is there, please address her with respect and correctly. Address her by “Your Majesty” and not “Your Highness”.Lastly, enjoy your stay and be sure to see the guard change!
Beautiful scenes. Only went around it, not in it. It was lovely looking over the road and seeing all the children playing on the green. It was a spectacular sight viewing the castle and all its history.
Definitely visit if youre interested in the British history especially of the royal family. Lots of antiques/gifts from their erstwhile colonies are on display as well. Best part was the chapel, very peaceful and epic in its own way. When youre out in the gardens youll see a plane fly by very close. I captured the British airways right above the castle.
First time inside Windsor Castle and its awesome. It actually feels like a residence and not a castle like others. Mainly due to the fact the Queen still lives here and actually uses the castle.Highly recommended trip and dont forget to get your ticket stamped so you get free return entry for a whole year
Windsor Castle is a must visit for anyone interested in English history and the Royals. The castle and grounds a sprawling and there is a lot to see and do. Good thing is that you can experience everything at your own pace as the entry ticket does have a fixed time. On a nice day, sit and chill and soak it all up.
Should have been on a foreign holiday, but the trip was cancelled and Windsor Castle was a last minute substitution. However, it does have airport-style security to get in, so it was the next best thing! Unlike the airport though, the security staff were friendly and jovial. Having been through the scanner, I went to retrieve my coins from the little plastic tray that had been though the x-ray machine. As I reached in to try and scoop them out the security man stopped me... "Hang on, theres a new way to do that. Ive been on course..." and he got me to hold my hand out whilst he tipped the coins into my outstretched palm. Nice! Its the little things like that which make the necessary chore of security checks a little less stressful. Other than that, as youd expect, in summer this place is BUSY. The photo of the queue is the one to see the dolls house (45 minute wait according to the attendantbut you can miss that and go straight to the state apartments. PROTIP: Whichever room you are in, ask the attendant a question about something in it. They were all very knowledgeable and friendly and they certainly added value to our visit.
A great place to visit with the family. The place is very famous and popular with tourists. We visited bit late that’s why didn’t get chance to see from inside but we visited surrounding area which was very nice and clean. Lots of option for walk in garden or other side beautiful walking track near the water and bridge view is stunning. Kids and family enjoyed ❤️
This was a lot cooler than I expected! It was absolutely beautiful and impressive. The doll house and the artwork inside the castle are incredible and gorgeous. The church was also really neat to see. Just a really awesome and beautiful place- I would come back again and hopefully would spend a bit longer next time.Plan on budgeting a couple hours for your visit and also keep in mind that there are certain times when the changing of the guards will take place, as that can impact when the gates are open.I also wish I could’ve spent more time in the Windsor town area- it’s super cute.
We’re tourist from Canada and we loved our tour of Windsor Castle! Visited on a sunny day in May. So rich with history. We did the self guided tour and took our time. The audio presentation was helpful and insightful. We did a weekday tour and bought tickets in advance. This expedited the entry and got us right into the tour. Note that a security check is still required.
The majesty of the place is only possibly to describe properly if you are a poet or a very talented writer, which I am not.I feel grateful for having a chance to visit the place, I admire the people who work there as they are extremely nice and helpful. As it’s a huge place and the area is super popular among tourists, you should expect crowds. Yet, things are so very well coordinated and organised that the process of getting in becomes a lovely experience. It is recommended to purchase entrance tickets online and in advance. I’m not sure if the price differs if bought online. The actual area of the castle is absolutely stunning. How much work, history, effort and love has been put together in this fashionable very royal palace.Thank you to all the people who maintain it in such a fantastic shape.A totally must visit spot in England.♥️🙏
Definitely worth a visit and definitely worth the $. Photography isnt allowed inside the different parts of the castle FYI. I would recommend getting the free audio tour as it makes the visit alot more interesting, giving you interesting info as you walk through each place. Be aware of the different closing times of each area, the State Rooms and Chapel close at different times during the year, be sure to check on that so you dont miss out.
I visited in the evening so the castle itself was closed. It is a magnificent castle that is very much not a ruin. Though as HM The Queen is now living there full-time the security measures in place appear higher and some of those detract from the overall experience of the place. The town around the castle is very touristy and there is the usual tourist tat such as nodding royal dolls.
This place is stunning, absolutely amazing.. i have no words. Its perfect for a day out and just in advance is better to buy tickets online to avoid the queue. Beautifully preserved castle full of history and art. Most important- Taking photos inside is not allow. But its better , now is going to be in your buket list. Must see place. All staff are very friendly.
This was our highlight on London landmarks. Really cool look into how the royals grew up and to see rooms for current state balls. The castle is massive and beyond well kept. Like going back in time. Doll house is really intricate
We went for a morning, 10:30, visit and while there were a good number of people it wasnt overly crowded. The castle.is beautiful and the church, where royal weddings have happened, is beautiful and worth the visit. The online booking process was friendly and easy. The monitors I. The rooms are super knowledgeable too. Great visit and the audio tour was free!!
Awesome few hours wandering around the castle. You get access to more than I would have thought. Well worth the entry charge. You can also convert your tickets to a pass that lasts 1 year for free. Free audio tour is included in the price.
Hopped on a day trip tour to Windsor Castle, also known as the home of the British Kings and Queens for almost a thousand years.Only exterior images were captured as camera/photos are not allowed inside the castle, but trust me, it was an eye opening experience.A pity that the tour had time limitations towards the next location, as I had to speed run through the castle instead of enjoying the little details and history.Overall, if you’re having thoughts about planning a trip to the Windsor Castle, do not hesitate to do so! And remember to pack your sports shoe as there will be quite a lot of walking.
Beautiful day to see a castle! We went on a school trip. Lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Good accessibility for a power wheelchair and lots of people around to point the way to the accessible entrances and show you where the lifts are. Thank you!
Worth the cost to enter. Lavishly furnished, really an impressive place. If you only visit one castle in your lifetime, this would be a great choice. Access is unreliable due to official events, so its a bit of luck of the draw for the full experience. Recommend getting access via a group tour, as they cycle the groups in quickly when the gates open.
Perfect for a day out and I recommend buying tickets in advance. Amazing place to explore and stunning architecture. Audio guide is available. Taking photos inside the chapel and state rooms are prohibited. Still you can enjoy and appreciate the place inside and out. Highly recommended!
Windsor castle was a great place to visit with the whole family. The area is buzzing and quiet popular with tourists. Remember that the queen still resides in this castle hence everyone wants to visit. Make sure that you visit the surrounding area as it’s a lot of nice places to walk and beautiful garden. Lots of restaurants around and boutique shops.
Now listen closely to me. If you dont do anything else when you come to England, be sure you come to this one. The town itself is worth the trip. Great shopping with older churches (visit them alland homes. Tons of shops of all types. A very pretty older place. The castle? Truly words are hard to find. The history is amazing. St Georges Chapel is awe inspiring. The grounds are well maintained and the tour is phenomenal. The only draw backs I could dig up were too little restroom availability and the city is in the flight path of Heathrow. Planes ✈️ galore! Im shocked the queen allowed this to happen. Really ruins the peace and quite
What an amazing experience!!! Windsor Castle is definitely worth seeing along with the audio tour. The architecture, the history, the grounds, the art work, the attention to detail is incredible. Will definitely be going back time and time again. Highly recommend a visit and tour.
Is no allowed to take photos inside the chapel or castle, but the experience worth every single penny. Better to buy online tickets, are cheaper, but you can buy it at the entrance, also. A lot of people because of the jubilee. Wonderfull!!!
hello, its a beautiful facility, the castle is clean and tidy. I would recommend this place to the interested person. the tour will take about 2 hours, a lot of works of art, paintings, sculptures. exhibitions of firearms, weapons.
This place is incredible. I never realized how big it was, over 2000 rooms. Photos are not allowed inside, but its not to be missed. Audio guide is included with admission and really enhances the experience. Loved it, and lucky enough to be here day 1 of the Queens Jubilee!
Amazing place to be. Beautiful. There is a huge doll house which has water and electricity facility. Huge well maintained rooms with lots of artifacts. Must see place. They charge for the entry.
Fantastic collection of art. Beautifully preserved castle full of history. Very friendly and informative staff. You can spend here a day here and still want to come back for more. Excellent audio guides.Delicious cakes in the cafe.
Be aware that when you go to Winter Castle there are no photographs allowed inside the buildings or videos. However we did see many people sneaking around with their camera or video turned on. There is a couple nice little gift shops but beware prices are expensive here. We bought six or seven Christmas ornaments made out of fabric and it was about 120 lb. Staff is friendly and helpful. We were limited on time because of the tour we were on, but you could easily spend 3 or 4 hours here especially if you want to see the changing of the guard
Better experienced than described. Tour operators I went with = Premium tours. Excellent group, great Tour guide, experienced driver, great timing and important tips.I visited on a Saturday, started tour at 9:30am, witnessed guards change around 11am. Place was packed with several tourists from all over the world. Id recommend going with a guide. We had to wait a few minutes in long queues before entering as the place was heavily booked. I bought tickets in advance through the tour group I came with and that saved me a lot of hassle. Was lucky to witness the guards change. Rich English culture, well preserved, proudly displayed.A definite recommend for anyone interested in rich royal history and artefacts.Decent washrooms, affordable eateries around, friendly but strict castle staff, everything was on point.Souvenirs to be grabbed within and outside castle at reasonable prices.
Its beautiful..I loved the queens doll house .its simply amazingly made..The long walk looked attractive..but was too tired to try it..The audio guide is short and good..
Lovely castle with such history. We did not enter the castle so I cant comment on ticket price or the wait to get in but we saw the change of guards here, amazing experience for all ages. Beautiful little town and some nice walks around the castle and mile walk. Plenty of places to eat and shop.
WOW! What a day! Stunning architecture. Fascinating history. Can’t take photos inside the chapel or state rooms so you’ll have to go to appreciate how magnificent Windsor Castle is. Well worth visiting!
Beautiful venue. We didnt go inside for the full tour. The open top bus tour with golden tours is really worthwhile. Riverside Eton is the closest train station although we went by car. There are plenty of car parks nearby.
The castle is majestic and full of history. Amazing neighborhood to walk around. The guard parade was really fun (they mostly do it on alternate days i.e, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday etc.Really enjoyed it.A must place to experience if you are visiting UK for a short period.
Had a great day out!! Got to see changing of the guards (Thursdays and Saturdays). The castle was everything you expect and more. Tickets were pre booked so could avoid queues, if you want to see the dolls house you still must wear a mask. The only down side is my partner smokes and there is no smoking in any of the castle grounds
Historic castle used as a residence by the British Royal family. Tickets can be purchased on the day but better to purchase online. Tickets which are purchased from the castle itself can be converted to an annual pass for free.It takes about two hours to tour the grounds and castle, depending on how long you want to linger at each point. A free touch screen audio guide and headphones are loaned for the tour. There is no tour guide, you just walk around at your own pace. The touch screen guide will provide information on various parts of the castle. The parts are numbered. The North terrace then the dolls House followed by the state apartments then St Georges chapel. The Chapel is closed for visitors on Sunday. Changing of the guard happens at 11am on certain days except Sunday. No photography is allowed inside. Use public car parks, the castle does not have one for visitors.
I always wanted to visit this beautiful 🏰, we went on weekend and there was not much queue. We opted for audio tour which was very helpful to understand about each section of the castle. We walked and it felt amazing- I can really understand what a beautiful place the queen chose for her abode. The view is magnificent and filled with royalty😍We enjoyed each each sections like state apartments, state rooms, dolls house and beautiful treasures across the globe. We also visited St. George Chapel were most queens, kings and priest’s were entombed. There is beautiful restaurant inside the castle- we loved the dessert. Staff is very helpful and kind gesture.Highly recommended if you get a chance to visit this magnificent castle❤️
Great, famous, monumentally...really I have not any words to describe how it is. I have enjoyed it a lot at all time have spent there, seeing this grandiose historical Castle. Honestly, I recommend everyone to visit Windsor Castle!!!
The official Queen Isabel 👸 residence. After visiting it, i have no doubt why she has chosen this venue. Even the air feels different, the streets are not regular pavement which makes it feel more time traveling than walking around. Once inside get shocked with the different rooms ( download the audio guideit makes the experience complete and more involving or alternatively you can purchase the book containing the history of Windsor castle and more, it is available for £5, quite cheap if you ask me and all that money goes to the restoration and improvement of this royal venue.Take some time to visit and admire St Georges Chapel built around 1300. Also youll have the chance to witness the Changing of the guard 💂♂️ 💂♀️ at 11 am. Btw you wont be allowed to exit Windsor castle during this change until it is over. But before and after no worries. I would recommend arriving early so you can enjoy the sun rising lighting the Castle. The quietness and serenity of the surrounding area makes this venue perfect for those looking to unplug from the noises of the big city and listen to your own thoughts. All in all is a place to be visited, appreciated, and dont haste or hurry up, also always look up, the ceilings are sometimes unbelievable decorated and full of details and history.
One of the greatest if not the greatest Ive ever seen!!! The place is absolutely stunning!!! Magical 🪄. The castle is huge, with wide areas, gardens, doors. You cant take pictures from the inside but was emotional just seeing it: the chambers, historical events, battles and kings pictures are all over the place. Highly recommend.
Highly recommend it. Buy your tickets in advance to avoid queues. The Doll House & State Apartments are impressive but you’re not allowed to take pictures. Lovely and helpful staff. Don’t forget to pick the audio guides. Parking can be expensive, £10 for 3 hours but there is a train station 10 minutes walking distance
I very much enjoyed my visit here. The State Apartments are very impressive but the Castle also offers some great views of the surrounding land particularly over towards Eton. The whole operation, given the site is obviously very security conscious, seemed to be very streamlined.
Beautiful architecture and rooms filled with all sorts of weapons, cutlery, crockery, and furniture. The detail that is in the ceilings, stonework, and paintings is intricate. There is so much to take in visually. We didn’t get the free guided tours and even so it still took us about 2 hours to walk around the grounds and through the different buildings. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed pictures inside St George’s Chapel or the State buildings but the inside of both these buildings is full of intricate detail and decoration. Also some of the nicest, cleanest, and most tranquil bathrooms you will use, some nicely decorated with wood and others in rooms with historical charm and character.
A majestic castle, very fortunate to get some sun throughout the day during Winter. I love Sts George chapel but I love St.Georges Hall, State dinning room and King Charles I story. The day I visit the queen was residing there, such an amazing feeling to be quite near her presence.
