Such a great experience!
Looks good
Amazing place so peaceful and serene
Lovely windmill, well worth the 5 euros to go up and look around. Staff were friendly and the shop beneath was full of interesting and lovely products.
One of the most beautiful places in Amsterdam ❤️❤️
So nice and beautiful 😍
We made oil using a windmill 😅
Wonderful stroll, past the wind mills. Many stores selling variety of dutch cheese, museum, boating as well.
Very interesting to see how the peanut oil is produced.
BeautifulAmazing
It is a very beautiful place where you can see part of the history of the place. Each mill was like a small industry, each with its own role ... cutting wood, making colors with the power of the wind. The parking lot seemed quite spacious. Admission to the complex is not paid. It is paid only at the entrance inside the mills. There are souvenir shops, food, drinks. You can taste and buy local cheeses. It is a bit crowded but well worth a visit. It is very close to Amsterdam from where organized tours are made to visit the place
Interesting experience for a family, it is good they are still operating the windmill, you can still taste past medieval years experience, Mill owner was really kind person who knows his windmill very well, after a 15 minutes of demonstration both English and Spanish he will let you visit second floor of the windmill which you can see gears and other mechanics of windmill also you can take a pictures in balcony area.Note: Stairs are too steep not might be hard for old people or families with small kids to climb but definitely worth the view.
Zaanse Schans village is a lovely place to visit in Netherlands. It is cute, calm and has breathtaking views.
Scenic places, loved the beauty of windmills which was created in 1672
17 C Only oil windmill still in operation to press seeds into vegetable oils Windmill de Zoeker, Zaandam North Holland Province Nederlands Europe.
Zaanse Schans “village” is approximately 30 minutes away from Amsterdam City. It can be reached by train from the airport or central station. There is a 10 minute walk from the station the the village. If you visit Amsterdam i highly recommend that you take a half day trip to this quiet place and enjoy a stroll among the mills. Take a snack with you or enjoy one of the food outlets there.
We visited April month foggy weather. But you can enjoy this place at any time. Magical place. Truly enjoyed. Bit uncomfortable for bringing kids in this weather. Little mushy and water everywhere.
Amazing..wonderfull view and fresh air. Like a dream come true to get there, see windmill directly, see the machine to make peanut oil and have some fun with the bikecycle.. hope some day i can go there again 😇
Wonderful place and Dutch local experience
The beautiful Dutch windmill village which near to the city. Very convenient assess with public transport.
The windmill that produces oil was interesting and had a nice tour. Beautiful setting outdoors on the water. But wow, everything about that park was all about getting tourists to buy souvenirs. The classic tourist bus drop off and buying frenzy.
There are so many windmills in Holland but these are the ones only a short train ride away. if uou dont have a great deal of time then here is the perfect place.
This is a great area with some great windmills and great displays. The authentic old village is really good too and very interesting. The staff are very informative and interesting. Plenty of things to see. Well worth a visit it’s really pretty here.
Such a stunning place!!! Its so green and spacious and theres so much to see. Lovely people everywhere, the staff is just so friendly. The windmills are beautiful and all throughout the area. It also smells amazing. They sell tons of things there, from the traditional clog shoes to souvenirs to cheese. I must say the cheese is a must try! Its so so good. They also have restrooms and water stations where you can fill your water bottles! Definitely worth the visit if you are around the area.
This is a unique village and the windmills offer some picturesque views! Definitely worth a visit as it’s only about a 20 minute drive from Amsterdam. We were lucky to visit on a crisp clear day in November. We stopped in the first windmill that grinds spices as you are able to enter for free. The other windmills will charge around 5 euros per person. The Cheese Farm is also worth a visit and you can sample almost everything. We arrived around 1:30 in the afternoon and spent about an hour and half here.
One of those places wherein you go to just relieve yourself from the hustle and fustle of the city life. Those lush green plains, with those windmills churning cheese, and the shoe workshop, and the breezy nature, all together adds up to a wonderful experience, and just acts as the best place to enjoy a nice weekend. Although it was a bit too crowded than expected, it did not stand in the way of immersing yourself into the nature there and having a pleasant time.
Nice place at Holland, 1 day trip from amsterdam, must try hot chocolate at this place more yummy for the climates.
Jeffrey is very knowledgeable and I enjoyed talking to him and learning a little about Amsterdams Windmills.
This is a 400 year old windmill, amazes me to see the simplicity and yet it delivered a punch. Heartening to see how much mankind was aware to save nature and mother Earth during the yester years, wish we had the same zeal today!A little lace which is family friendly and a good place for an outing/ picnit etc.
Best windmill here! Smells really amazing of freshly roasted peanuts. As its not the first windmill it was much quieter than the others here so worth the visit. The information and history was really well done and there want a lack of language issues as they made the video in a way which didnt require language to be used. the views were stunning here too.
The "Zaanse Schans" is a collection of a bunch of different Windmills, most still functioning in some way. You can learn a lot about their function, inner-working and history here. Best place to check out the famous Dutch windmills!
Windmill De Zoeker is one of the working windmill in Zaans. There are machinery inside the windmill for grinding various spices from different countries. No entry fee to the windmill is required and it is a good experience to see what is going on with the grinding process here. You can also select a bunch of spices which are on sale. There are very pretty villages around too. Really enjoyed the trip.
A Peanut oil mill. Very nice to see and learn how windmill works. There is an entry fee of 5 euros per adult, but this is worth for what we learn by watching the working of the wind mill. One can go to the top floor to feel the wind blowing from the big fans. I would say its worth visiting inside.
It is an outdoor windmill park or playground to attract tourists. There is no admission charge for entering the park, although theres separate charge for access to the individual windmills and windmill cruise. In addition to the windmills, there are other attractions which are closely related to the Netherlanders and their culture, such as cheese production abd wooden shoes.
A nice place to check out to see the inner workings of a windmill.
One of many running windmill.
Most recommended place to see the Netherlands Windmill
Just took pictures from outside but it was awesome
Fascinating to see how they produce peanut oil using windmill power. Nice view from top too
we liked this place, you can go in and learn how this wind mill works
Good tour inside a windmill making oil from seeds. It is good to see how this old building mostly made from wood is still working and preserved in a good condition. Loved the sound that it makes when the windmill is turning and all the wooden gears and cogs inside rotate.
Very Nice Place, I visit it with my family and kids, every one they keep it a amazing memories
Nice looking windmill
Zaanse schans best town I visit in Netherlands ... its small villages ... very calm .... yom will show best natural .. have fresh ice cream ... and special cacao ... the windmill in every place in the country
Very cool museum! The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and proud of the heritage they represent. The millwright was equally friendly and knowledgeable. The mill was fascinating to see, and you quickly gain a lot of appreciation from those who built and operated these mills so many years ago!
One of the nicest looking windmills at Zaanse Schans, but least interesting to go inside.
Nice view, totally recommended
Over 340 year old windmill is working on daily basis... not sure if it gets any holidays off or even get any paid vacation... but diligently pressing linseed to produce oil...Find out the process by the Miller himself or watch the whole daily process on video in the next room; Its amazing the ingenuity of humans, operation and history of the industrial Windmills... you may even fall in love with the fairy-tale like settings in Zaanse Schans.
A beautiful museum in the open air. Free to roam around and have a nice walk. Great to see so many typical Dutch items together; cheese making, wooden cloak making, sweets, windmills, wooden houses, its my number 1 place to show to my visitors from abroad. And I keep coming back for a walk myself a couple of times in the year. Great place for photography also!
Great Oil mill. Inside you will find a TV with an explanation of the excellent engineering of the mill and how the oil is produced. A man doing the process is there as well.
