Hip, health-minded cafe serving acai bowls, toast with creative toppings, salads & smoothies.
Both the aesthetics and quality of the food are on point here. Its a order at the counter and then take a seat place so very prepared for that. Overall, I was impressed and will go back.
Erroneously over priced, it’s as though your paying for the aesthetic more than the food. The avocado toast was not worth the $10. The waitress was also rude and did not have a nice disposition. Cute place, worth at least one visit, but I won’t be returning.
I discovered Wilmas a few months ago and have been eating here at least weekly ever since. The food is outstanding. Definitely try the green eggs, avocado toast (spicy), and smoothie bowls.
I loved the atmosphere at Wilmas ! It’s open with natural light, succulents and most importantly great food. I came here at noon on Saturday and it was busy but I could find a table. I ordered the Halloumi bowl pictured below. It was delicious ! I liked the flavor of the couscous because it had cucumber and tomato in it with Mediterranean spices. Mmmm! My girlfriend ordered the same thing and she has celiac disease (allergic to glutenand they prepared hers in a separate fryer and workstation. Very accommodating! They also had smoothies, juices, coffee and tea. I’ll be visiting this place again soon.
Nice place, a little pricey, but not too bad. The tuna poke bowl is delicious! The chai tea was not sweet enough, but otherwise decent.
A very modern and chic cafe. It is a breath of fresh air. I love the different kinds of seating arrangements available there especially the swing. I ordered the protein bowl which was super good and nutritious. It has a lot of breakfast options. I wish they did not have to close at 4:30. It would be a fun place to hang out in the evenings
Very pleasant atmosphere with a friendly staff in a bright, open environment with lots of windows. Great place for a quick, healthy bite or a longer stay with some coffee or fresh juice. The food was delicious and fresh and creative. A little pricey, but you get your moneys worth.
Bright & clean modern space with a coffee house bustle feel. Food choices are well thought out and paired for taste. Prices are higher, but overall quality is good.
.BOTTOM LINE : Great hangout with fresh and natural food and a friendly staff!PRO : Great food thats fresh and natural, nice trendy aesthetic that feels clean all around, large with a lot of seating, relaxed vibe, and very helpful staffCON : Its a bit chilly in the winter.
Tasty, high quality food at typical Ann Arbor prices. Plenty of vegetarian options, including the Haloumi Bowl, which was fantastic! It was pretty crowded at noon and not many places to sit, but will try to come back to try the other dishes.
Wilmas is a great place to eat and the area is super nice. Its not too crowded which makes it good to have conversations and a good time with friends and family. They have breakfast food, salads, poke, smoothies and I believe soups also. If you come to Ann Arbor you should try it.
So delicious and amazing customer service. My baby has an egg allergy and they were very accommodating bringing her some fresh fruit.
I love this place!! There is such a great variety of food and vegan/vegetarian options. Every time I come here I order something different yet none of them have disappointed! One of the best açaí bowls I have ever had! Aside from the delicious food, the ambiance and aesthetic is very nice and the whole restaurant is very chic!
Love the menu options, service and atmosphere! I had the avocado toast is amazing Along with really good and unique coffee blend flavors.
Ann Arbor needs more healthy and innovative restaurants like Wilmas!
My daughter asked if we could stop here after researching a place for some decent smoothies. We were just traveling through so I agreed and we went. While it is definitely not this grumpy ol Yoopers scene, my daughter absolutely loved it. The drinks were solid and the food was amazing looking (we had just eaten so we didnt order food but what they brought to others was beautiful). Even I liked my honey lavender latte with dried lavender on top. And that surprised me.Will go back with my daughter when we next travel through.
Formerly known as Fred’s (nice Flintstones touch), this place is hands-down my favorite in Ann Arbor. It’s a “must visit” every time we’re in town.I don’t know how they work the magic of the Brotein Shake but it is pure 🔥. Best smoothie I’ve ever had in my life. We normally end up buying a bunch of stuff because there are so many enticing, healthy, and fresh options available. It can be a bit pricey, but as a Chicagoan these prices seem really reasonable for what you get. Everything is made to order (from the counterand you can tell it is made with a high attention to detail. As such, wait times can be a little long but it’s worth The extra minutes hanging out in their cool space.
Cool space and a great place to sit for a while if you gotta do some work, though the music can be boisterous. Coffee isnt always the most expedient experience in The Narbs, but I appreciate their healthy-leaning menu.
They changed their name! Used to be Freds. I havent been there for a year but I was delighted to see they kept everything inside the same. Very open, white, clean tiled spaces with greenery everywhere. Vegan and vegetarian options. Cute little urban hipster vibe place.
Could not recommend this place more!!! The food is always so healthy and delicious. Additionally, the service cannot be beat! I accidentally left my wallet there and I had an email before Id even realized that I lost it that it was being kept safe in the office. I came back the next day to get it and it had everything in it still! Would give Wilmas more than five stars if I could!
Great vibes with lots of natural light and open space. Good place for studying with free WiFi. Food was good and fresh ingredients. Prices were a bit high for the portions but they have a lot of options to choose from with tons of smoothie and coffee drinks. Pictured: burrito bowl, side tuna, nova bagel. Would recommend
Artsy, spacious restaurant, with a fansy work environment feel to it. Their menue features a variety of food options, lots of healthy, vegetarian, and vegan options. The servers know what to recommend if you feel like trying something new. Their chickpeas salad, beats hummus, are delicious so is the stuffed avocado. Their coffees are good, and everything their is locally resourced. A definite spot to come back to. Thanks Irene.
One of my favorite places in A2! The ambiance makes you feel like youre out west and all dishes are amazing!
Very nice casual place to eat. The food is emphasized with health benefits and the setting is very pleasant and bright. This place is very popular with college students as it is like a cafe but with food of an actual order-at-counter restaurant. Also nice to get some studying done.
-30 degrees F record-setting week in Ann Arbor, looking for something to warm me up. Stopped into Wilmas for the first time since the 3rd name change. Thought a "tuna melt" would be a safe bet as one of the most iconic hot-served sandwiches known. You take bread, add tuna salad, top with cheese, press on a griddle. This is THE definition of a tuna melt. (If its something other than that, simply come up with a different name.)I requested GF bread and sub cheddar for the Swiss. What came out was two open-face pieces of Udis multigrain bread on a plate with 1 pathetically thin slice of cheddar melted on top of each piece (dry, not gooey or cheesy), topped with 4 freezing COLD scoops of tuna salad. Shivering, I took 2 bites and decided I just didnt want to pay almost $12 for what should have been called a regular ol tuna salad sandwich, so asked the girl who rang me up if it could be made into an actual melt. She said she would check with the chefs and then another young woman came out of nowhere without introducing herself and asked, "Can I help you?" (I dont know, can you...who are you?I said I was already being helped and she replied *Im THE manager.* OK...thats nice. Apparently I needed to regurgitate what I had just said to the first girl. Instead of a smile and just taking care of my issue (that I expected a hot "melt" and got a cold sandwich), manager attempts to educate me on what an "open-face sandwich" is and then the process of how the entire sandwich is assembled. I just took two bites of it, I know its cold and how its assembled since it was just staring back at me on my plate, and attempting to introduce me to the exotic open-face sandwich concept in Ann Arbor (never seen done before!was just insulting.Next she pow-wows with the chefs, the whole group alternating between whatever excessive discussion was going on and glaring at me. After another 8ish minutes I get a closed sandwich which was mostly spongey GF bread and melted butter (not toasted at alland about 1 scoop of tuna instead of the original 4. Yai for empty carbs for lunch! Not sure if this was to spite me or if they couldnt figure out how to just grill a full sandwich, but Wilmas was a major miss for me.Suggestion to kitchen: Toast bread, add hot tuna salad scoops, top with 2-3 slices cheese on each slice, then put under a broiler, throw on some garnishments to make it fit your trendy appearance and youll have a *warm*, gooey, open-face genuine tuna melt that will keep customers coming back. Or rename is a "tuna salad sandwich" which is what it really is.
Quite a few students there but to be expected in a town like Ann Arbor! Very reasonably priced food put together well. Very good price value ratio. I have had the tuna poke A few times and its always very well prepared.
OH MY GOD!!!! this place left me speechless, the atmosphere was great, the food was amazing, and the cutest guy ever was behind the counter!!!! My Acai Bowl was so fresh and the presentation of the food was to dieeee for!!!! The guy behind the counters name was Nathan and he was stunning and so charming to talk to!! I can not wait to go back and get some amazing food and talk to Nathan again.
Freds is definitely an overrated Ann arbor joint - the food is subpar, the lines were super long and there wasnt anywhere to sit because there were at least five tables that hadnt been cleaned off for a long time. its pretty loud and full of college students (which is to be expected).
If you’ve got time to spare and money to spend, I’d recommend this place. The food is good, they have a lot of vegetarian options, and the spot is spacious so you can easily eat with a group of people. I made the mistake of ordering to-go during a break from work and 30 minutes is much too long a wait, especially without an apology hinting that the long wait was an anomaly. I kept thinking of what Frita Batidos looks like during lunch hour while I was waiting at Fred’s, there’s a reason the former place keeps its customers.
Heard really good things about their avocado toast and decide to give it a try this Tuesday. We ordered egg sandwich and avocado toast but were shocked to find the guy handing over our avocado toast with few small pieces of thinly sliced avocado that were covered in dark spots. The crusts of the bread were also impossible to bite into. It seems like their food quality can be quite inconsistent from looking at the photos people had posted. We’d have appreciated if they simply let us know that they are out of avocado and we’d have ordered something else.
Excellent food, eat well and feel good about it, plenty of vegan options and an entire vegan pastry section. Just all around amazing atmosphere
LOVE this place. My favorite in Ann Arbor. Great health food. Recommend the kale avocado smoothie, avocado toast and the pokes
Was looking forward to trying this after so many comments from friends. Went with a friend around 3 o’clock, we couldn’t find one clean table to sit on. We asked to clean table but of course person seemed annoyed. Was weird as there seem to be many people working but no sense of urgency to clean any of the other tables. Oh yes, the food. My friend and I both got spicy chicken sandwiches and other than the bread the chicken wasn’t very fresh and just didn’t taste as juicy. My friend who is a regular mentioned that it’s been way better tasting.Hoping my experience was a one off and maybe will give this place another try.
Delicious papaya ginger salad and spicy tuna rice cakes. Its pretty pricey but the food is delicious and fresh.
Had a great experience at Freds. Their acai bowl is awesome as was their tuna melt. Prices are very reasonable as well!
Crisp, clean design with California vibes. Healthy and delicious food presented well. I recommend the yogurt bowl for breakfast!
If I could eat here for lunch everyday, I would. I’ve been here a few times and loved them all. I shared the açaí bowl with a friend and had a avocado egg toast. Both were amazing. Another time we tried a couple bowls, grain and poke. Go try their fresh food in their beautiful modern restaurant!
A go-to spot for a healthy breakfast/lunch. Super cozy and instagrammable. Not cheap, but the food is great and the granola is AMAZING. I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet potato nachos as well. Perfect for anyone looking for something light, funky, or healthy.
First experience here @Freds. The inside vibes were great, good lighting, clean area and clear menu items. Got the Chicken Sandwich w/ Sourdough. Chicken was a bit dry but the bread was delicious and overall flavors were great. Also, had the Sweet Potato Nachos as a side dish and those were a healthy and great option.
Rice and fruit bowls are effortlessly executed. Both are tasty as well. A must visit.
This is one of the trendiest, most unique, and most delicious places in Ann Arbor or anywhere else for that matter. The atmosphere is amazing, with tons of plans and cute seating. The food is unique and affordable but very on trend (think avocados and acai bowls). Coffee is so good as well. I recommend it for dates, hangouts, laptop work sessions, and brunch!
Surprisingly well-priced, quality food. I ordered the brown rice bowl and added chicken. It was good, Id get it again. The atmosphere is nice and much more causal than I expected (think of a contemporary, hip, and more food conscious Panera). Freds was described to me as Instagram-able and Californian, and I think they were completely correct.
Freds hands down serves the best smoothie/acaí bowl in all of downtown A2. They are so delicious! Another one of my favorite is the Avo on toast its just so good. Although I have to say that Ive gotten my toast burnt before and I wasnt really happy about it. The food always arrives in a timely manner. The seating and decor is very modern and chic and the place is also very clean. I also love the wide selection of kombucha and salads you can easily grab and go. Overall great place!
The most instagram-able place in Michigan. Its really cute inside. The food was delicious! I had the sweet potato nachos and my friend the poke bowl! The cool press juices are also a must.
I was looking for a place that might match my happiness I had the first time I had an acai bowl. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Also, they have huge cupcakes, which is a plus. Great atmosphere.
GREAT VIBES!!! Smart design and layout. Intuitive restaurant with no frills with subtle stokes of genius in the food and business. After talking with the owner about his mission as restaurateur, it becomes glaringly obvious the interest of restaurant belongs to the communitys demand and the well being of its incredible staff. Will obviously return
I cant find a bad thing on the menu! Everytime Ive come Ive been impressed with whatever I ordered. The Acai bowls changed my life. Ive got no plans to stop coming anytime soon. Plus the service is always on point! Dont miss out on this gem
This place is the best spot in town! Whether youre a student, mom, young professional the ambience is so light and fun! Fred the owner is so nice and super welcoming. The acai bowls give me so much life! Theyre are great for any meal of the day and super fulfilling. You have to try to grale salad is so tasty and satisfying. Im obsessed with this place, like Ive come for dinner the past three nights Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Im coming back tomorrow night.Hands down the best food bar/restaurant in Ann Arbor. Come to Freds get a healthy, simple but delicious meal!
The staff was so friendly and I felt at home sitting at the bar! The acai bowl is a great pick me up and all of their food looked amazing. I will definitely be going back when I dont feel like making dinner to takeout their yummy looking rice bowl!
We came here after a few weeks of anticipation and got what we had hoped for! Everyone in the place was very friendly and helpful, including the owner. The food was made quickly but with care and ended up being so delicious. We tried the ricotta toast, the power bowl, and the brown rice bowl – they were all wonderful. Will be back soon!
