Museum showcasing a broad range of art, from European master paintings to contemporary local work.
A delight to have been there ,thank you
This was an unexpected treat, given the dilapidated state of the entire city. I was surprised that such a scruffy town could still contain such a precious gem. WHAG contains an impressive collection of classical, historic and contemporary South African art. Entrance was free, but no photography was allowed. It would have been great if the gallery shop sold a book containing highlights from the collection, since little information about the artworks are provided (and visitors arent allowed to take pictures). Furthermore, it would have been lovely to support the gallery through an operationsl tea garden. WHAG is a must for any art-lover somehow finding themselves in this odd town.
Good atmosphere and exhibition of art
Not worthy.
Housing an excellent connection, William Humphreys has wide variety of works across a wide spectrum. In particular I was fascinated and pleased to see the art work done by inmates in local prisons.
Loved it❤
A great building for various exhibitions, though your experience may vary due to what is being exhibited at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
What a great experience. I am not a art critique, but I can appreciate the effort that was put into the gallery to keep it neat and interesting. Up to date with new artists work.
The most beautiful art gallery in South Africa. It is a religious experience. An absolute must to visit.
I love this place. Such a wide variety of works across a wide spectrum. A real island of peace and quiet in the city. Really worth the visit.
Very good. Friendly staff
Theyve a great collection and well curated,a gem.
Really great collection. Excellently curated!
Warm, clean and welcoming atmosphere ! 👏Huge, impressive collections👌The guides are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.😊
Our second visit to this magnificent museum. Managed by the most wonderful, caring and passionate staff, they were extremely welcoming and happy to see us and made our visit even more special. Unfortunately the fabulous tea room did not survive COVID 😭😭, so no delicious tea and scones. Still an extensive and exciting art collection well laid out and a pleasure to visit. Please people visit this wonderful museum, they need our support! Unfortunately no photos inside, but some lovely art work outside. Come artists and art lovers you must visit!!!
Absolutely lovely art gallery. I was really surprised at the quality and amount of art and sculptures on display. The staff was all super friendly and helpful. There are currently restrictions on the amount of people allowed in at the same time, but we were lucky and had the whole gallery to ourselves :)
Enjoy going there but the art is not all that mesmerizing but many pieces to enjoy not very nice parking...
Very relaxing and inspiring environment. Definitely a good outing area
Gallery is awesome. Coffee shop is okay
Good place to view local international and contemporary art. They have a place for the kids to colour stuff🎨🎨🎨🎨. I loved the “dog of war“. The staff there is awesome.
A great place to see some artwork with beautiful layout.
Kimberleys best kept secret. Fabulous place.
Beautiful collection of well kept and curated art. Amazing staff, kind. Caring and considerate. I arrived at closing time (out of town visitorand they allowed me in! Thanks so much! It means the world.
Always something new to see. A must visit for anyone.
Wow!!!!!! The most impressive art gallery in the Southern hemisphere. A heavenly experience.
Well worth a visit
All the art is lovely and you can lots with all history
A treasure hidden in plain sight; genuinely breathtaking and refreshing to the eye. Its difficult not to experience every ounce of beauty and struggle bleeding through the paintings.
The art gallery is beautiful. Next time I visit Kimberley, I will definitely visit again
Awesome paintings, art, and a peaceful tea garden with great and friendly service from everyone!
My boy got most of his project information when we went there.
A fabulous collection of all types of artwork. Well worth a visit.
One of the best kept galleries with an extraordinary collection
Brilliant maintained, beautiful and exceptional pieces. Well done Kimberley
It is very educational. If you love art the youll love this place.
Very informative, beautiful artworks. Worth a visit
Relaxing place to be, kids are allowed and there is a coffee shop available
If you are into art there are some exceptional works.
How anyone can give this gallery less than five stars is insane. You will be hard pressed to find a gallery in the whole of South Africa with such an incredible display of art, with a token cost of R5 to get in. There are pieces from all era’s and some really significant artists’ works are on display. Highly recommended.
The part with the contemporary arts is nice but otherwise the rest is very boring and badly maintained.
Love the old paintings
I go there once every year. Always new art and wonderful restaurant.
Beautiful art. Friendly staff. Lekke restaurant
Most amazing collection of arts and crafts.
Beautifull art on display. Garden outside well maintained.
An art gallery to be proud of. Mixes old and new seamlessly.
Awesome experience. young talented artists
A beautifully curated gallery with superior Dutch and British 18th and 19th C pictures bequested by William Humphreys as well as an excellent collection of SA art from early 20thC right up to the present. A comprehensive collection of SA pottery as well as oriental porcelain and Cape Dutch furniture enhance the experience further.
An art museum and gallery with class. It has some old and some new. A vibrant, fascinating asset to Kimberley that astonishes. An active, changing space. I was moved by the recent "bushman" exhibition My Heart Stands In The Hill.
Contemporary art and Dutch masters in the middle of the most desolate place in South Africa. It was like finding water. A half day is needed to appreciate the permanent collection and the changing African artists. The film center and community focus makes this a very avant-garde program in a very modern facility. The lack of commercial input gives a purest perspective on the experience. No distraction from the art. The programming and facilities should be international examples for what is possible in areas where industry or nature have not already created incentives for tourism.
