Amazing food. You can really feel the emphasis on nature in their cooking. It was the Pacific Northwest on the table, all served in a cozy setting. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Adventurous eating at it’s finest, the horse tartare was exquisite. Two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼
MoreReally enjoyed our meal at Wildebeest. We had the Omakase meal which I highly recommend. Getting to sample so much of the menu was amazing and everything they brought to our table was delicious. Cant wait to go back!
MoreFrench Press coffee and beignets caught my attention while browsing for brunch places downtown. Typical warehouse style high ceiling decore with attitude and loud music was my first impression – good vibes. There were several things on the menu which we had trouble choosing and finally ended up with something basic for our first visit – The Standard (!– two poached farm eggs, sourdough toast, hasselback potato, one order with maple breakfast sausage and the other with housemate face bacon. We also ordered beignets and 100% fresh squeeze orange juice.Beignets – they were nothing like the my first exposure to beignets in New Orleans. These were over fried and not succulent, too small, i.e. not enough real-estate to house beautifully spongy dough inside. :-(The fresh squeeze juice was delicious and refreshing. We didnt ruin the taste with champagne.The poached eggs were perfectly done, and all consistently formed – hmm – how do they do that? We enjoyed the maple sausage with the hint of after-spice, nice. Although I would have liked my sausages browned evenly the English way, these were juicy and tender inside. Very good. The bacon was disappointing – they couldnt be sliced any thiner. I ended up with most of my partners bacon because there was too much fact on them, and not browned enough, so a bit too chewy. The taste was good though. I really like the fact that it comes with a kale salad. So many brunch places neglect to provide fibre and greens. I dont usually like sour dough, but these thin slices of house made melba style toast were actually quite enjoyable because although well toasted, they were not dry inside. Unfortunately, I saw how the pieces of toasts were handled and was not happy about that: someone with gloves brings a container full of toasts to the kitchen, then the counter person grabs the toasts by hand and places them into a bin for plating. The only trouble is, during our entire time at the restaurant, we saw this person pick up dirty plates etc. and did not wash his/her hands before grabbing the pieces of toasts.We thought about coming back with our friends, but it would have been impossible to hear them talk. I will be back though because of the juice and sausage, may be on a Sunday where we would have to order French Press Coffee (yumbecause Revolver Coffee is closed on Sundays!

MoreLove love loved this place! Fabulous dinner for a Friday date night. Lovely atmosphere, amazing service, and delicious food. I don’t eat meat yet still had a great meal, the carrots, artichokes, caviar, and fish dish. The fish was cooked perfectly with beautiful unique flavors. My boyfriend loved the meat dishes. We’ll definitely be back.
MoreIf anyone looking through these reviews wants the best brunch in Vancouver, search no further: Wildebeest is the place you need to be. Ive waited in the hour long line at Jam Cafe, tried Catch 122, Enzos, Forage and a gauntlet of others and read brunch reviews enough to make my eyes bleed in search of the perfect place. Quite frankly Im a little upset with myself for not coming here sooner, and if you havent been, make sure you fix that asap.The bar is amazingly well stocked and well staffed. Wildebeests bloody caesar came with a sweet pickled green bean and a smoked castelvestrano olive (dear sweet god these olivez are good - and thankfully available as an appetizer on the dinner menuin a glass liberally sprinkled with seasoned salt - blissful, and not surprisingly now the benchmark to which all bloody caesars will be held in the future. I ordered the bacon Benedict, which I highly recommend. The bearnaise was perfect, the eggs glorious with a deep orange runny yolk, and (the best part...face bacon all on a grilled buttermilk biscuit. A beautifully done hasselback potato and a side of seared kale rounded out the dish. Bottom line, you need to eat brunch at the Wildebeest.
MoreWe had an okay experience here. The staff were friendly enough, albeit given the price range here, we had expected a bit more. The food was only a tad shy from terrible, though.To star off, the wagyu carpaccio was too salty to be a starter. We asked the flat iron steak with the lobster tail. We were told by the waiter the steak would be around 5oz, and turned out to be only little more than 3oz. The overly marinated, reheated from frozen, and jokingly small $25 lobster tail add-on killed the experience.Not recommended.
MoreFirst time to try this restaurant, good atmosphere, nice and helpful staff. Very good ingredients and presentation of the dishes. The reason why I only gave it 4 star because of the dishes were bit salty for us. Need to keep drinking water while eating. The dessert chocolate & plum was very good.

The food was small portioned and did not feel like they were overall worth the $45 menu theyre meant to; appetizers was a tiny plate of tuna tartare in tiny pieces.Still overall the food was good, and I would have given it four stars, but what really shocked me was when the bill came, we were charged $4 per person for sparkling water (we were asked whether we wanted sparkling or still water when we sat down). No explanation was given by our waiter that sparkling would be an extra charge, and Ive never eaten anywhere that would charge extra for water that came out from a soda hose.
MoreWe went for my birthday dinner this summer and it exceeded our expectations! Our waiter was charming and knowledgeable. He made our experience absolutely perfect. The food was phenomenal! Each dish was unique but a few stood out. The bone marrow was fun and the garlic scapes were AMAZING! This meal was the highlight of our trip.

MoreSo fun! Great food and atmosphere. Highly recommend the mussels and tortellini. Also loved the venison loin and veal bone marrow (with on the house sherry pour!- all super creative and yummy! Terrific cocktail menu, as well.

MoreYummy food, decent portion size. Not very kid friendly as the utensils food and drink were served in were easily breakable stuff. If I could recommend one thing, is to get some ikea high chair and silicone plates and cutlery. You’ll attract a lot more families here for brunch.
MoreQuite overpriced for what it’s worth. Nevertheless every item on the menu we ordered tasted amazing with gorgeous presentation. Ingredients were well sourced, prepared and respected. Atmosphere was also wonderful.
MoreAmazing food and drinks. Great atmosphere in the restaurant and super friendly servers. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on the food especially if you want to try as many of the menu items as possible. The portion is quite small, more like sampler. Presentation and quality of food is amazing. I have never tasted such good asparagus and herring!
MoreFood was really tasty however the way we had to order was so weird. We were there for a private event downstairs and they only allowed us to order every 15 minutes to a maximum of 5 people ordering. We were a group of about 30? So none of us really got to eat together. They do not allow substitutions to their food, so if your diet is restricted be aware of that. Portions were a bit on the small side as well but quality was very high and as I said, very tasty.
MoreWent on for the 10 course tasting menu and was amazing with the selection and well rounded flavors from start to finish.I love trying new things so a tasting menu is perfect but I would single out the lamb, charcuterie and apricot desserts as truly amazing.I would also like to mention that our severs Liam and Gabby could not possibly have done a better job. They explained everything and answered all our questions about the dishs, checked back often, were very friendly and truly added to our dinning experience.Becuae of the amazing food and the great service from Liam and Gabby I would highly recommend Wildebeest to everyone.
MoreHad a nice breakfast here with a friend. Everything was good, and while the sausage was not quite my taste, it was fine. The mustard sauce that came with it did elevate the flavour experience. Surely, that was the point. Will come back again and try more dishes.
MoreI world like to recommend this place for a delicious brunch spot to take a date on or go with friend. Also their dinner are really good! Love the open kitchen concept! I had trouble trying to pick what you eat on the menu because everything looked so delicious!
MoreVancouver is not known for fine dining, but when Wildebeest came up on multiple best-of lists, we decided to give it a try for a date night out.We arrived a tad early for our reservation and were sat immediately. The staff were all super friendly and helpful.The waiter recommended a pinot noir barrel aged cider, and that was fantastic. The flavors built nicely as we drank it.We also opted for the omakase which is when the staff and chefs decide what youll eat for you - kind of like a trust fall. We gave them a budget and they delivered dish after dish after dish that met our dietary needs.As vegetarians, we essentially ended up with exactly the handful of vegetarian dishes on the menu.Eight courses and seven of those courses were MAGIC. We moaned our way through each one.The cheese plate with the fig reduction, homemade mustard, sourdough crisps, pickled potatoes, and berries set the tone. Each bite made us pause and sigh and savor. The grilled bread and butter made a nice compliment, as well.The heirloom vegetables were packed with flavor. The cayenne maple granola brought a sweetness and crunch that completely balanced the sours of the pickled vegetables. The pumpkin was amazing. Beets never tasted so good.Next, we got sunchokes sauteed in a chanterelle butter with crispy sage and a yummy cheese paired with their cornbread. As vegetarians, they swapped the marrow butter with regular butter dusted with onion ash. The sunchokes on their own would have been good, but pairing the sunchokes with the chanterelle butter and the sweet moist cornbread created a rich, deep stick-to-your-bones bite.The stinging nettle ravioli is positively bursting with creamy red cow cheese and dressed with some compressed Swiss chard and a sweet vinegary sauce, including drizzles of spruce oil. Popping a ravioli in your mouth and letting the very rich umami of the cheese ooze out was delectable.Sadly, all night I was so excited to try the pasta with the burrata because... burrata. But this was the only dish that disappointed. Utterly unbalanced, it was completely and totally overrun by the smoked olives to the point that NOTHING could be tasted but the way way way way overused olives. A few bites of this left us so glad wed had all the other dishes first. If that had been our only impression, we would never have come back.But, the night was rounded out by a SPECTACULAR dessert of dried apricots, mascarpone whip, rosemary ice cream, and a little chocolate orb filled with apricot gel, and a great short bread sprinkled throughout to bring it together. We stopped after every bite and smiled at each other. SO SO good.This is the kind of meal I love. As much as I enjoy a pricey pretentious meal in a city like New York or Washington DC, our meal at Wildebeest was filling, satisfying, friendly, surprising, and utterly delicious.We will definitely be back for more (except for the olive pasta).

The kimchi mayo and the tuna tartare mixed together so beautifully! So flavourful and fresh but not heavy. MoreFantastic Drinks & Service but food underwhelmed and a rushed experience.Dining room is extremely warm and inviting with excellent lighting. That said its really setup as more of a bar loungewith far too many high-tops than tables which makes for a less comfortable dining experience.Drinks take time and so the 2.5oz cheeky beer while you wait is killer concept. The drinks areabsolutely stunning and worth the wait.Having ordered from both the happy hour and the regular dinner menu while there were elementsthat were tasty, nothing really wowed as a whole for the dish. The butter poached lobster wasunderdone (twice), and there was a general lack of seasoning.Its really a shame because the plates are beautifully presented and you can tell theres time and effort put inbut along the way the kitchen became a little bit more of a express check-out lane and stopped tasting and was rushing.As an example we ordered the heirloom vegetables. I swear that I turned away for a few seconds and they were on the table.A lot of the other food came out really fast and not in any particular order.I feel like if the back of the house took a few tips from the front of the house they could be successful, but basedon our experience and the price, not sure I would be back to dine there, but Id sit at the bar and drink there any time.
MoreCame here for Valentine’s Day special. Taste of appetizers was good. Taste of mains were soso at best. The bison steak was very tough and difficult to eat. The truffle ravioli was excellent. Service level was below average compared to most other western restaurants. For $75 per person base price before drinks and add-ons, I was expecting better food and service.

MoreI went for their dineout last week and had an amazing experience. As a starter, I chose the beef carpaccio, which was absolutely fabulous. I then had the lamb leg as the main which was very soft and full of taste. I finished off with the lemon cake which was quite to my dismay, but still tasted good. I also loved how it was open kitchen so I could see how everything was being cooked.
MoreWent here for "Dine Out" and it eceeded all expectations. Typically with a discounted memu you would expect less but not the case here! We left stuffed and happy. The service was on point and we will 100% be back!
MoreOne of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver right now, Wildebeest never disappoints. They offer an excellent cocktail menu, and their smoky olives are not to be missed. Everything I have tried has been delicious, most recently the Tuna Tartare starter was very tasty. For a main dish I always order meat, whether steak of game meat, and it is always cooked perfectly. If you are a carnivore, you will love this place!
MoreI can not say enough good things. We loved the drinks and all the food, especially the tuna tartare and the duck confit special. Our server was really on top of things and our glasses were never empty! Very cool place, so fun to gaze into the kitchen while they create incredible plates.

MoreWas here for brunch. Food and service were both excellent. We arrived late for our reservation but the hostess was extremely accommodating and the waiter also helped us exchange coins for parking. We both ordered the pastrami egg benedict, which was a nicely executed dish. The potatoes on the side were crispy and flavorful without being extra salty. The poached eggs blended well with their hollandaise sauce and pastrami. Serving size is a bit on the smaller side, which should be sufficient for those with a smaller appetite but maybe not for those with a bigger appetite or who are extra hungry.

MoreWe LOVED this place. Everything we tried was amazing and they offer happy hour prices from 5pm-6pm which includes some appetizers, drinks and I think small plates. We had the charcuterie board, bone marrow luge, horse tartare, and a small duck plate (I dont remember the nameas well as a few drinks. It was all wonderful and thoughtfully crafted. I wish we had more pictures of the food but everything was so good.
MoreGreat ambiance, service is good and the food is the best overall. All options are unique and the taste follows suit exactly. Many different options to eat and all plates were very well done with awesome flavors. The Omakase option is such a great experience as well, you get the chef to basically just take care of you with the highlights of the menu all in one sitting. This usually finishes with their specialty dish, the Cache Creek Ribeye.
MoreBack to a year ago their food was very good . My favorite was "the burger" add egg on top +beer .But this time I am so disappointed. There is no tomato on my burger and the bum was over cooked the edge was all black . Also last time when I visited, the burger cames with smashbrown but this time just regular fries.It was my No. 1 place for burgerAnd I feel so sad now I dont know where I should go for a good burger.But, their service was always good .
MoreAn exciting westcoast restaurant that does a wide variety of meat in an outstanding way. They have a great happy hour 5-6 and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our favorites were the charcuterie board, the sharing steak, the scallops and the horse. Cocktails are amazing and wine selection is solid. Will definitely return

It was a bit too dry and everyone at the table had the same comment.The dessert we had the milk and honey, not too sweet which I liked but it wasn’t out of this world either.Loved the drinks!
MoreReally enjoyed brunch here! There was a huge line-up for Catch122 next door, but I dont understand why Wildebeest didnt - their menu is just as good! Had the croque madam which was SO GOOD, the most important for me was that the sandwich itself was not hard (like Ive had at Catch122which made eating it that much gentler on the roof of my mouth and more enjoyable.

MoreYou need an experienced palate. As well, there are some items on the menu that turned my stomach inside out because of the ethical side of me. We stayed to try out some of their more modest meals, but the flavours were so extremely rich, I felt out of place.Great ambience, extensive drink list, and good location. But most likely won’t be dining here again..The drinks were to die for.. and I loved the tiny beer they give you!
MoreWasnt as good as I expected... Price for brunch was decent, about $16 per person. The side salad was too greasy and salty. Crab Egg Benedict was okay, the flavour wasnt that impressive. My friend got a mushroom omelette, and its much better than the Benedict! The service was kinda bad, partially because its understaffed (or too many customers)
MoreAfter visiting Wildebeest during Dine Out Vancouver and enjoying the atmosphere and the food, we decided to book a table for the New Years eve dinner. This time, the dinner was quite underwhelming. It started with an amuse bouche that surprised us – a bite of grilled eel with some mayo. The eel was far from the tender and melting-in-your-mouth dish that you would find in some good Japanese restaurants. It was cold, stiff and left the aftertaste that didnt play well with the rest of the dinner. The first course - crab salad and salt-baked celeriac - impressed us with well-balanced taste and great texture and restored our faith in the restaurant. The second course, ravioli, was simply amazing. However, the mains ruined our experience - the Wagyu steak was hard to chew, mostly due to a bad cut rather than the grill, and quail was slightly undercooked. In any other day we would send the dishes back to the kitchen. The deserts failed to improve the situation; they lacked creativity and tasted well below average.

Service was good, atmosphere was nice, but the food didnt match up to the price expectation, although it was beautifully plated and presented.The bone marrow was the only dish we had that was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the rockfish and my husband had the pork belly with scallops, and they just didnt wow us. Pork belly tasted dry and overcooked and the serving size was very small. The rockfish was well cooked but the flavor combination didnt sit quite right with my palate. We shared the dark cherry dessert and it was a bit bland. The deconstructed style didnt bring out the flavors to their full capacity.Also, the high stools that the men in our group sat on werent very comfortable.Overall review: decent food, but overpriced.
MoreHad a super great night here!Food and cocktail are great and I like the interior decorations which is super cozy and relaxing.Rum runner is definetly good as I dont drink run normally, they did a good job mixing flavours and its pretty smooth when I am drinking. Also, there are a lot of meat selection on their menu, for those who want to try sth new(Elk, Horse etc.)The sablefish is somewhat normal here cuz its made with coriander and sour cream, its refreshing and it really shows the natural flavour of sablefish, but I feel like its kinda similar to Chinese steam fish. The elk here is so nice for those who want to try, but its a bloody red meat with its natrual flavour so it may be a lil bit unacceptable for all.
MoreHip and comfortable with no attitude. Friendly service, good food and a great selection of beers and cocktails. The croque madam for brunch is delicious.
