Wild Food Café, Islington - Restaurant in Macenta, Guinea
Just had a quick Butternut soup, very good. I will come back to try the rest!Edit 8/12/20. Went back during lockdown for a takeaway. Good food but very very disorganised. The cook works a lot sadly the front house doesn’t keep up with the pace. Pictured the wabi sabi salad and the courgetti with mushrooms.
An understated interior that suggests comfortable, relaxed and inviting.Meticulous presentation, subtle combinations, inventive twists and deft touches makes for intriguing vegan dishes that challenge the stereotype; aeons from the predictable and-same-old.Though the selection here is hardly expansive there be much to savour and likely to delight all but the most jaded.Service pleasant, attentive and adequately versed.Innovative, enticing and inclining towards expensive. A proper treat.
Best vegan restaurant I have been too! Super cute, clean, stylish and the food is simply delicious!! Also, the waitress knew so much about the menu and how the food is prepared which was super helpful! The cocktails are also on point! My favourite vegan restaurant by far!! 👌🏽🌟
Really like the decor and design of this place. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable which also makes the experience fantastic. I’m not a vegan but places like this tempt me to convert.. the ‘meatball’ pizza was absolutely delicious
The waiter had his thumb touching my food while bringing it over and held the water bottle by its mouth. Then the toilet had unflushable excrement with a smashed toilet seat.I was told later that I could have used the disabled toilet, but no signs were posted to tell me of this.My food was replaced but pretty shocking first encounter with this restaurant. And all I received for the abjectly revolting experience of the toilet was a "sorry".A shame as the food was pretty nice and what i wanted.I hope it improves.
Service was friendly, decor is tasteful. I would like to see more savoury lunch options, the menu was limiting and too focused on breakfast food. Add more snacks and nibbles? Sweet potatoes were so-so, was expecting them to be more crispy. The food we ordered was generally good and ingredients were fresh.
Had a lovely brunch. Food looked beautiful and tasted great. Very fresh. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Felt very covid secure too. Will be back for sure.
As their name suggests, an eatery serving lots of natural homemade plant based faire. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free friendly depending on the particular dish. This was my second visit, each time I ordered something different, and each time what was served up was very tasty. Not cheap but thats the current status quo if we wish to eat natural when eating out.
Incredible! This is my new favorite restaurant. The staff are wonderful and so lovely.
Tasty vegan fare. The “carbonara” linguine was so good we asked for the recipe. The rainbow cheesecake was very pretty. Service and staff top notch too. A new fave.
Great healthy vegan food. Friendly staff. Free and fast wi-fi and Electric sockets everywhere makes it a great place to work from. Stay opens until late.
This restaurant really exceeded expectations. Hard to find such a trendy and well designed restaurant serving you delicious and comforting vegan food. Had one of their house juices: the purple galaxy. It was surprisingly refreshing with a unique blend of pear, ginger, lime and purple cabbage. The courgette pasta carbonerra was a dream of a rich and delicious dish. I couldn’t believe it was a vegan sauce! Finished the lunch off with a nice coconut flat white. Will have to come for their desserts next time. Left feeling really fresh and healthy, full on a delicious lunch.
Great little spot, friendly staff and brilliant food. Feels like a touch of Australia in there, nice, bright and airy
Excellent plant based cafe. The staff were lovely, smiley, helpful and knowledgeable. The food was even better. Great flavours, very fresh tasting with lovely ingredients. Thoroughly recommend the pancakes. They had a great texture and the orange cream with them was fantastic.
One of my favorite places for healthy dining in a great atmosphere. Love their seasonal salads and all the pizzas from the wood oven are so tasty! My favorite is the one with mushrooms but also like the classic one.You have to also try the delicious vegan carbonara and of course the exceptional rainbow cake.
Really great experience!! Staff very friendly, food really tasty and a BIG thumbs up 👍for the pizza. AND to top it off, the 🌈 rainbow🌈 cheesecake was a little bit of heaven! Well worth a visit and will be returning 😊😊😊
Food was average. The pizza was simply tasteless and this is in comparison with other vegan pizzas we had in London. Zoodles fell short for us and we also had the burger (not picturedwhich was again very average. We think they need to improve the recipes. Some dishes were dry like the pizza. Prices are quite expensive, which we would be ok with had the taste been there. We have been to other vegan places around the world and this has still room for improvements. Environment was ok, they have plants inside which means tiny flies, so if you mind that sit on the front tables. WC was so smelly which was unacceptable.
Very impressed with the food and service! The vegan spin on the English breakfast was creative and tasty. The courgette carbonara was pretty stunning. No eggs... no butter... no cheese... yet the sauce still tasted like a carbonara. As for the rainbow cheesecake, if I hadn’t known it was vegan, I would have assumed it was normal cheesecake. The service staff were all very friendly, checked up on us at the right times, topped off the water regularly, took away empty plates promptly.Brilliant dining experience. Thanks!
Great place to chill with friends. Must try their kale crackers, so special and tasty! Pizza is good but could be cheaper. Staffs are very sweet and helpful. Highly recommend for vegan and vegetarians.
The food is all vegan, largely raw and the ingredients are sourced sustainably and with seasonality in mind; often wild and always low impact.Every dish we had was actually beautiful and huge compliments to all the chefs. We smashed;🍝Courgette spaghetti in creamy sauce w toms.🥗The Summer Goddess bowl w nettle quinoa, hummus, Cauli and all the bloody good stuff.🍘Kimchi Maki Roll with cauli rice instead of stodgy sushi rice.🍠Squash bruschetta with asparagus, almond and wild leaf pesto🍫Chocolate Raspberry Tart🍓The Chocolate pud with Strawberry ice cream - special of the dayIt’s definitely a treat ££ wise but really recommend. I will be BACK to make full use of that pizza oven too... that is a threat.
Every trip to this wonderful restaurant is absolutely exquisite. The food is not only utterly delicious but is also so vibrant with nutrition. Add into the mix the delightfully charming staff plus the beautiful decor and its easy to see why this is the best place in London for healthy vegan food. An absolute favourite & they cater very well for Gelflings!
Unbelievable food and wonderful dining experience.I had the scallops starter (tasted like the best scallops ever, despite not actually being scallops!followed by the burger (again, tasted like the best grilled patty despite having no meatand followed with the famous rainbow cake. The mocktails were super refreshing and I finished up with a white hot chocolate.Going back next week, taking friends!
Came here with my friend to have dessert. We shared the chocolate tart and salted caramel slice. Both were excellent and it would be difficult to pick a favourite. The service was very friendly and as there was a delay in our order being delivered, we got a second round of drinks on the house. 😊My only regret is that Id already eaten dinner and there was no room to try any of the other items on the menu. Guessing from the other diners plates, these would have been delicious as well.Im definitely coming back to try the mains!
Had been a while since I came here and absolutely loved their new menu! Every dish we ordered was delicious! The carbonara courgetti was the stand out dish for me but equally so was the banana bread dessert! Service was so attentive and the place has such a nice vibe and cute decor. We’ll be back!
Beautiful restaurant with very tasty food and drinks. I had the Classic Wild Burger with Sweet Potato Wedges and a Purple Galaxy followed by the Rainbow Cheesecake and Pistachio Matcha. The staff were also very friendly and attentive.I will definitely return in the future.
Good quality food and very tasty. The deserts are amazing. However the portions were smaller than wild food cafè in Covent Garden
A lot of potential, but it didnt deliver.I ordered the Italian pizza. The crust was burnt, not "charred". The individual components actually tasted good: the meatballs, pesto, cashew cheese. But it wasnt well executed. Too much tomato sauce, which was sour, overwhelmed the other components and made the base soggy. Too little pesto. The olives were basic supermarket olives without much flavor. But on a different day maybe.Service was friendly and knowledgeable though when it comes to the ingredients theyre using.
Very nice environment, peaceful decor. I had a delicious vegan revisit of a full English breakfast. I ordered a smoothie that had something in it that neither myself or my friend liked at all. I rarely do that but I asked if I could change by something else. They did but I think the waiter could have been nicer at doing it and not mentioning that "they never had any complaints before".
Great tasting food with exceptional presentation, as always.
Monstrously good food!I went with a large selection of friends here for my birthday. I had chosen it because I liked what I had seen from Wild Food Cafe in Covent Garden but wanted a more chic experience.I was very pleased with what I saw.I took my omnivorous friends here and they couldnt say no as it was the venue for my birthday party and by the end of the evening they couldnt believe the taste explosion that had gone off in their mouths and they couldnt finish all the food! The notion that we need meat to be satiated - skewered! While I didnt partake, my friends verily enjoyed the alcoholic drinks selection. I loved the smoothies, especially the cherry/cacao one.The setting was splendid too, set on a cool part of a very cool area it was set apart from a temple like interior that was unlike anywhere Id been before.I warmly recommend this place and everyone should visit here at least once. Its more than just a great vegetarian restaurant, its a great restaurant period.
Very good vegan food! The desserts were a bit disappointing though; stay with the starters and entrees. The location is cozy and very pretty, but can get noisy when crowded.
Stunning cafe full of plants and greenery and feally yummy food. Would definetly go back. Food is not cheao but its such a beautiful atmosphere and experiance Id still go back.
We were attracted by the pink and green decors so much and had a very high expectations on the food. They look so Instagram style and trendy. The drinks’ names are very impressive. It is a good and exciting try for us in a vegan restaurant. The food and tase is so different.
Love food? Visit this place. Want or need to choose gluten free, vegan and minimally processed food that is first of all simply great tasting and just as important, safe for you? Mark this place a favourite - it is world class.Wild Food really is one of those rare places I want to visit over and over to *experience* pretty much everything on the menu. Creative, colourful, charismatic and charming dishes are in great supply. It is *really* difficult to choose during the first visit.Raw (rawr!Pizza, some of the best vegan cheesecake I have ever eaten (and I have eaten many), wonderful umami rich dishes, gorgeous garlic bread and ludicrously indulgent chocolate ganache dessert. Just some of the highlights. Also striking is that the Wild Food people really appear to love the food they are helping serve. They are happy to talk about it, make recommendations and answer questions.
The food was really good, although a touch on the expensive side. Vegan pizza is recommended. However this was let down by the waitress dropping/spilling tomato sauce all over my shirt, and it was just the start to my evening. Although I completely understand accidents do happen, it was the fact that there was no gesture/offer to compensate/ pay for proper cleaning for my shirt whatsoever, or a gesture such as the unprompted removable of service charge or desserts/drinks on the house. The full bill and service charges were still put forward.
Visited at Saturday lunchtime with my family, we noticed that they didnt have any raw options, even though advertised through happycowThe waitress pointed out at a couple of dishes identifying then as raw, but wasnt aware that quinoa needs to be cooked. Also they no longer serve the burger. We ordered a starter and for main pizza, a raw version of a salad with cooked items removed and pancake.Apparently the pizza and pancake were good, the salad variation was mediocre at best. Since the prices were already quite high, I expected much better and felt disappointed.Plates werent removed after and table cleaned slowly, dessert menu wasnt brought as requested. However the manager was very pleasant and took on board the feedback, she seemed to want to know how to improve. I changed my one star to three because of her attitude and response. She brought the pistachio dessert, and loose teas. The cake was really nice. When I return, I will hope for better, will review next time.
As a gluten and dairy free diner this place was perfect for me! Lots of options, the food was fantastic, every course was super tasty and theyd just launched the new menu that week. Great place for a date or a special treat, the decor was cool with all the plants! The rainbow cheesecake was definitely a highlight, the service from the waiter and the wine he recommended (turned out to be the house redwas great!
Really nice restaurant, lovely space and decoration. We had the aubergine dosa and the vegan burger. The dosa was amazing, great flavours and enjoyed putting it together ourselves. The burger was a little claggy but tasted great. I loved that it was green! Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful without being too much. Ill definitely be going again. Im usually a meat-eater...
Perhaps I was expecting a bit too much from Wild Food Cafe, which I guess should explain this review. This Saturday was my first visit to your Islington location and what most appealed to me was the selection of healthy food options without preservatives and pretty much in their pure form. What I actually experienced was a combination of some good, but mostly bad things.Lets start with the good: The decoration, its bright and open space, the music and sounds of birds singing in the background are definitely pluses that set your restaurant apart in Islington. Also, as the menu states, all the food items on the menu are wild, gluten-free and and have zero preservatives. This is all great, but there could definitely be more options on the lunch menu. Now on to the bad: The not so great experience for me comes from the lack of knowledge and the overall arrogance of your waitress/server. With the exception of the friendly host who greeted me, it seems that asking to spend a few more minutes to review the (limitedmenu and asking questions on some of the food items that are still foreign to those of us not too familiar with this type of cuisine, seemed like a bit too much to ask from the waitress. I was a bit surprised by this kind of attitude, since the restaurant was not busy at all at 11am, so its not like they were running around trying to take a bunch of orders during a busy time of day.My decision to give Wild Food Cafe a bad review comes down to the bad attitude and eye-rolling attitude that I received from the waitress. Another big shock for me was the lack of knowledge or should I say indifferent attitude that the waitress had when I asked about the items on the menu. The waitress didnt seem to be knowledgeable or have a real opinion on what was good to try. If you ask me, she even seemed to not care if shed even had the opportunity to try the menu herself in order to give genuine food recommendations to guests.I will end my review with this advice to the staff at Wild Food Cafe: If you dont like your job, dont care to be nice to guests, and you cants give positive input on your restaurants menu, perhaps you shouldnt be working at Wild Food Cafe. I think your restaurant has great potential in the area, but your restaurants survival will require a bit more than a unique menu at this point in time.
Went on a Sat afternoon with a friend for her birthday. The food was tasty (4 stars! Atmosphere was trendy and it was consistently packed when we left by 3:30. We were there 2.5 hours..... but that was because the service wasnt good. To place any order, clear the table or get the bill, we had to flag our waitress down and was unhelpful and came across almost passive aggressive (walked away three times while we were in the middle of trying to order or ask a question and it was very hard to get her attention). Well try the one in Covent Garden though because the food was yummy and its a great premise.
My ultimate favourite to eat out in London. The care, the ingredients and the love that goes into the food just makes it all magical 💚✨🌿
Loved everything about this place. Staff, food, atmosphere.... Fantastic!!! Will definitely be back!!!
Really lovely, inspired plant-based food. The puddings are excellent
Lovely wine and decor. The food was nice, although sometimes a bit plain. The burger itself was delicious, the miso bun had a great taste, just a little dry.
Oh my word. What a delightful experience it was to eat here - from start to finish. Lovely welcoming decor and a friendly welcome from the front house staff. My guests and I were promptly given menus. A lovely curated menu with intriguing vegan and gluten free food. A lovely drinks menu too.Food was prepped and served quickly and the meals were delicious.I give two enthusiastic thumbs up! 😊
Wild Food Cafe Islington is a temple of nourishment and coming home to yourself. The symphony of flavours of the beautiful created dishes takes you on a journey of remembering the true relationship with nourishment. I have never before felt my body so happy seeing the food and eating. I can literally feel every cell in my body getting excited to receive this divine food. The wild dishes are highly nurturing on so many levels: optically, texture wise, flavour wise, nutrient wise, plus they do ignite your inspiration and creativity also. The place in itself it’s an oasis of relaxation and joy. It looks so pleasing to the eyes: the lighting, the colour scheme, the textures (looove the soft pink macaroon like chairs my favourites ;)), the hosts are so welcoming and ready to make sure that you have a wonderful experience. I love the elevated pizza, then queen of the forest for cold winter days, the unicorn rainbow cake is my absolute favourite - a fabulous cross between dreamy cheesecake and ice cream - having the perfect light creamy texture and temperature. But don’t take my word for it, go and gift this experience to yourself. Might be the most delicious break and meal you had in ages. Most likely you may find me there :see you soon! Enjoy! Bon appetite!
My new favourite restaurant in London. 1. Decor is stunning 2. Food was delicious I wanted literally everything on the menu I couldnt choose - great blend of taste and healthy options, perfect for me 3. Service was impeccable 4. Vibe was great. Cannot fault it and will be back A LOT! hi
Like dining in Heaven! I’ve not been so completely and deliciously nourished since I was last at The Covent Garden Wild Food Café! The service was excellent and the knowledge about the superb wild ingredients was part of THE big story I am so grateful to be made to feel a part of by the wonderful team there. Thank you so much! Can’t wait to come back!
What a treat and an adventure of flavour! More a posh restaurant than a cafe - i ate the hasselback butternut squash with curry cream... very, very delicious. Had the Unroast for a main, a signature dish and worth it. I did get food envy when the next table orders the bright green burger option! ... err also the pizzas they look sooo good. Oh and totally veggie !!!
Excellent - like a posher wiser ‘sister’ version of the original funky Covent Garden branch. This branch features healthy gluten free pizzas which are inventive and still comforting. The decor is elegant and vibrant, spacious and elegant. This is a great place for an evening meal, groups, romantic date or a quick lunch.
