Wickaboxet Management Area - Wildlife Refuge in North Providence, United States
Wickaboxet Management Area in North Providence
Description
Privilege
Great place for a "hike." A very nice walking trail with minimal incline. Great for any age really. The trails could use better markings and a possible map at the entrance, but phone service is still available in the area. We came across a few Giant American Millipedes which I thought was cool for RI. They do not bite or carry disease in case you were wondering.
MoreHuge wooded area with many streams and ponds.
A beautiful area to hike!
Love this view. Everytime i come here the trees get taller and obstruct your view of the landscape
MoreAlways like Wickaboset (RockManagement Area ... Gotta put up with Horseflies in July but the downpour today did just that, Lol
MoreThis is an easy hike. Its quiet and just a beautiful area to be in. Its a dog friendly trail that offers easy and more advanced trails. You can choose to do the whole loop or take a shorter one. If you climb up the big rock its a great view.
MoreIt was a relatively easy/moderate hike. There was no wildlife to be seen or heard. The vegetation was dead and rotting throughout most of the management area. The area does not look healthy at all. I did give it 3 stars due to the historical sites spread throughout. Cemeteries and and basement markers. I have been on better hikes though...
MoreWell marked trails with trail maps. Impossible to get lost
We love it here....its those surprises you find in the middle of your walk that make it all the more special...such as the very old cemetery we visited ..old but not forgotten.....
MoreHad a great Sunday outing.
Trails are pretty wide and grassy -- not too full of roots or anything thatll trip you up too much. Nice and quiet too. Trail had quite a few large branches strewn about and even some downed trees across it, but this was the weekend after those fierce winds on Halloween night, so we just moved them aside/went around them.
MoreIve been looking for this place for a couple yrs, and finally found it today! I took this picture in 2015, the last time I was here. Dont forget to take plain house meeting Rd! Lol
MoreGreat hike, bring a bug net if it is summer time.
Wickaboxet has some single track trail and additional forest roads winding through it. There are views from the top of Rattlesnake Ledge which is a rock climbing spot.
MoreOne of the best trails in RI. Also home to an absolute behemoth of a rock.
Beautiful views from the tops of the rocks. Wide trails for running or biking. Not too many hills. Good terrain
MoreNice clean and claming
Great hiking and historical experience
Very peaceful. Pretty easy trails.
Quiet and peaceful. Good trails, which connect to Tillinghast Pond to the west.Rattlesnake Ledge is nice, and easy to get to from the Plains Meetinghouse Road parking area.Additional parking and trailhead on Plains Road.Plan to come back and explore more.
MoreBeautiful trails and amazing views
Big rock.
There is plenty of trails, with different terrain to hike?
Awesome place for a hike through the wood very long 5 miles I believe so plan on packing for the day
