Rustic condos at a full-service ski resort with summer mountain biking, hiking & zip-lining.
Whitefish Mountain Resort in Kalispell
Description
One of the very best values in skiing and lodging of my life, and I have been to over 50 ski areas both in the United States and abroad. The mountain itself is amazing in diversity of terrain and quality of snow.
MoreAmazing bike trails, but fire season is upon Montana obscuring the views.. Alas, it’s still a stunning view so get up and about. Not a bad way to spend your day
MoreThere is so much to do here. The view and hikes are great. My issue is the rooms. They are dirty and dusty. There is no air conditioning and you need to leave the front door open to the Hall and windows open and deck doors, so safety becomes a huge issue , let alone the guests in the building across get a show. If the halls have ac and charging over 200 a night why cant the rooms. We sweated our butts off.I would stay again if they have real air conditioning or if its cold out , cause Im sure the heat works.
MoreTons of fun, summer activities: lift rides, zip-line, 2 Alpine slides; an aerial jungle gym, mountain bike trails, gondola summit rides. Food is pricey and not very good, but lots of picnic tables
MoreGreat downhill mtn biking and zip line adventure course. Alpine slide is perfect for families and kids; not too long and not too steep. Views from the top are spectacular!
MoreZiplined! It was great. We had awesome guides Avery and a young man. They did a great job. Even found my fitbit that fell off right before my last landing. Great time. Highly recommend.
MoreWe were there for summer activities. I expected more from the place. Facilities are old. We did gondolas and alpine slides. The view was ok , nothing special.
MoreSpent the day here zip lining, hiking, mtn biking, having lunch at the summit. Exhausted and dirty and loving it.
MoreJust married ❤️This mountain is great for summer and winter sports!
Beautiful place, even in the summertime. Zip tour was a blast!
Summer visit: The ski lift was great. The slide is great if you have 2 people or are an adult because for kids its way slower. 1 of the slides was not open because of damage and neither run when there is any rain even just a slight sprinkle.Overall the Whitefish Mountain Resort has great views and is pretty fun!
MoreWhile staying in Whitefish members of my group did the zip line. This event uses several different zip lines and took time to complete. This event combines both a ski chair lift as well as climbing between the different segments. It seems it would be better if the zip lines were aligned so folks took a chair lift to the top then took various zip lines down. As opposed to zip line down, climb back up the take a different zip line down
MoreThis place has really cool activities! We went down the slides And the person who ran the event was super funny and friendly. If you arent a slide kind of person, they have a Zipline too which I hear are really awesome!
MoreI cant blame the resort for the part rain / part snow we had. Still it was an amazing experience! They have guides who will ski down the mountain with you and point out the trails. It was great. Being with some experts on the trip definitely helped too.
MoreGreat time on mountain coaster. Wish we could have rode the tram to the top, but they decided to move concrete with a helicopter on a Friday (bold choicewhich closed all the lifts.
MoreGreat staff, gorgeous scenary, and a lot of value in the bundle pass we got
We rode the gondola up to the top of the mountain. It was beautiful and fun. There was still snow. There is a spot to eat and drink once you got to the top and we enjoyed some hot chocolate. I reduced it by a star because we paid for the aerial adventure park that morning and when we got down from the mountain that afternoon, it was pouring rain. We were cold and soaking wet. They wouldn’t give us a refund because they run that part in the rain and that was something we weren’t comfortable doing.
MoreThis place cracks me up! The atmosphere is totally rad, only if you make it rad! The staff is super friendly and high on stoke, except if your being a meany, so dont be rude. I love skiing, who doesnt? (Lame people dont ski I guessHowever the crowds are horrendous and make me scream "oooofda, galloping gremlins".Best to stay away if you dont like waiting in lines!!! Also... I hate blue bird days and I love the fog so bonus, as its always so foggy and you cant hardly see at all... better watch out glasses wearing folks. Your prescription eyewear will fog up so bad, youll wish you were just blind or just had perfect vision. But always wear your sunnies: snow, fog, rain, or shine its the only way to ride. Another important note: The ant hill is disgusting! 🤢Those pizza turners need to watch out, they are too slow slow slow. I scream at em, MOVE OUTTA MY WAY! Watch your backs tourist Jerrys. If you dont know how to ski stick to the magic carpet. Dont be falling on the ant hill, unless its an epic belly laugh type of entertainment. So actually please fur jacket skiers stick to skiing under the lift so I can get a hoot! Ooh also some snowboarders are kinda like a rabid pack of dogs, but thats ok because I got my rabbies shot! Chao for now!
MoreWent for just a day of activities and had an absolute blast. The scenic gondola was a fun and beautiful ride - not necessarily something fun for kids but a great opportunity for pictures. The sled ride for kids was great kids (3,5loved it and wanted to go again and again. The zip line was a great time, it did involve more hiking than I personally like when Im trying to have a good time so I probably wouldnt do it again but the tour guides were hilarious. The spider monkey attraction for the kids was loved by our 5 year old but too hard for our youngest (3).Overall had a great time and would definitely suggest this place for anyone visiting town or looking for something fun to do for the day.
MoreWe stayed in Ptarmagin Village Yellowstone minutes from Big Mtn. Our cabin was excellent! Great views from our deck, rustic decor, in a newly renovated condo. Across from our unit was the clubhouse with tennis courts, hot tub, sauna and swimming pool. Wildlife viewing from your back yard. We absolutely loved it and will be back!
MoreSkiing here was a great experience but the service is horrible. Chairlift operators(except Debbieand restaurant staff were so rude. I would pack a lunch to avoid interactions with them next time. The terrain is amazing, the blue/back runs were challenging and linked up to so many other runs. You can ski from the summit to the car in about a half an hour.Parking is free if you park near the condos and you can ski to the lift from your car. Use the Home run/away run to the lot.We had a wax service because the weather became very warm and they were amazing.Bought some souvenirs at the Summit shop and she was so rude…sorry to take you away from your phone for a transaction!
MoreWe loved our 2 days skiing at Whitefish! The best runs and snow that we’ve ever skied on. Long and wide runs. Great greens and blues for beginner and intermediate! The friendliest staff that I’ve ever encountered at a ski resort! The Summit lodge and view is insanely amazing (pic). We live in Lake Tahoe but all agreed that we prefer Ski Whitefish!
MoreFantastic variety. No one will be complaining. Trees galore, moguls galore, steep, gradual and choices to choose all in a single run from Summit (chair 2). Easier stuff on chair 3 along with terrain park and half pipe. Chair 11 should be experts only as all blues require a lot of double poling. Cute chutes throughout. Better value than any Colorado bargain hills.
MoreSo much to do here! Zip lining was a lot of fun and it was easy for my mom to get up and down the stairs to the line. The instructors were both extremely kind. The lady taking photos was…not so kind but she did not dull my experience! If visiting I would also recommend going on the gondola to see a beautiful view of the lake from up above!
MoreBeautiful views, nice snow, clean lodges, no lift lines. Full recommendation for Big Mountain!
MoreWe had an absolute blast and loved the trails. I wanted to give a shout-out to Shelby, one of the best snowboard instructors ever, she helped to transition me from skiing over to snowboarding in record time.
MoreOne of the best ski resorts in the country. Amazing views, fantastic levels of ski challenge, friendly, helpful instructors and great family fun. Whitefish Mountain Resort ranks at the top tier of American ski resorts.
MoreQuiet pricey, long line for the lifts and anything else on the weekend, park far, but staffs are welcoming and helpful. Beautiful summit too
MoreAn absolute gorgeous view! This hidden gem was break taking, relaxing, peaceful and an amazing mountain to ski! We tried out our new ODR ski-skates and it could not have been better.
MoreIt was our first time skiing at Whitefish, it was a really fun mountain with lots of terrain to explore, and a nice mix of groomed runs and off piste terrain. The snow was excellent packed powder, with some fresh snow added in. We spent two days on the slopes (on skier and one boarderand had a blast. We were there on a weekday and there were no lines. We stayed in the town and drove up, and the parking was straightforward.
MoreEasy to navigate, challenging terrain and easier routes when wanted. Base lodge has food, rentals, coffee bar, and seating for those who are waiting on skiers. Summit has a restaurant and bar. Phenomenal views from the summit!
MorePlenty of runs and wasn’t too crowded for right after Christmas. My kids and I enjoyed this mountain. There are more than enough instructors to go around if you’re in need of lessons such as my youngest did. Great place to start them young. Chauncey was awesome to work with and helped out enormously teaching me some things as well. I noticed that all of the instructors were super cool with the kids and made everyone’s time great! Will return 🔟🔟
MoreThis is our first time in Montana and we chose whitefish mountain because of its location. We were very happy with the accommodations at the local resort and the lodge itself is very roomy with lots of fires! The ski school was great for the kids to learn to snowboard for the first time! We took lessons and went on some of the easier runs. We plan on going to two or three more over the next couple of days. The lodge is beautiful and the prices are more than reasonable! Great value for a family vacation
MoreBeautiful mountain, great runs going down both sides of the mountain (the view from the summit is breathtaking), great facility and amenities, military discount on lift tickets (and apparently on ski rentals outside of the holiday season as well). Hellroaring, the restaurant at the top of chair six, has nachos to write home about. The lift attendant at the top of chair six was not terribly pleasant to our new skier and the hosts at Hellroaring could have been a little nicer, but other than those exceptions it was outstanding. I cant wait to come back.
MoreKids ski and play - if you are expecting your kids to learn how to ski you will be very disappointed. The weather was warm and we expected that our littles would be on the magic carpet for most of the day but they only took them once. We could have just put them in the day care. We think the day care is good and run well but the ski and play is a ton of money and not worth it.We got there at 9:30am and they said we were to late to start the morning lesson. (All other ski classes start at 10;00 and 1:00At 10:30 we saw a group come in and asked if the kids could start a lesson then and the manager said that the instructors had already created a bond with their kids in the class and couldn’t accommodate our 2 kids. So I thought they didn’t have the staff but then I went outside and they definitely had the staff to work (see 8 ski instructors standing around)Whitefish has increased costs but the quality has gone done. We have been skiing here since 1999. We have done day care and ski school for the last 6 years.
MoreEarly season but fresh snow made for great snowboarding and the view was spectacular !
MoreI really enjoyed coming to Whitefish to see what this resort looks like and the town of Whitefish. All the summer activities were closed as of September 19, 2021 and the winter activities havent started yet. But it was a great drive-up to see all the leaves changed color in the fall and just to walk around the resort. I will definitely be coming back for winter skiing and when the summer opens back up for some of the activities in the summer. Nice place 👍💗
MoreBeautiful resort with a laid back attitude. Great place for kids and adults without the crowds and prices of a Vail type resort. If youre looking for quiet, quality time in the mountains I highly recommend going here.
MoreTook the gondola ride up and hiked around at the summit. Beautiful views! Would have done more of the activities like ziplining and alpine slide if we had time. They looked fun!
MoreSolid place to enjoy lots of fun activities. Alpine slide lines were a big lengthy and beware the staff may scans your passes multiple times taking your number of rides away. Zip lines could be quicker if you didnt have to wait for your group and guides.
MoreWent zip lining here and had an awesome experience! Our guides were personable and friendly, and the views were awesome. We also got to take the chair lift to get to one of our zips!
MoreWe went in the summer and hesitated to take the chair lift up to the top because of the price ($21 per personbut WOW! What a view off both sides of the mountain. The kids did the zipline tour and loved it while us adults rode to the top and had a beer with a view. Highly recommend.
MoreLove the MTB trails. Summit was first run for warm up. After that Kashmir and freebird all day long. Hit Zeppelin on the way back to the lift.
MoreAwesome ski hill. Been here several times and never disappointed. The spring skiing last week (3/18 was great!
MoreThe best ski resort ever, there’s no other place that can beat this. So many runs, like seriously, you will never ski something twice in a 3 days time span, and a huge amount of lifts, and these lifts are amazing. They are supper fast, like 10-15 mph fast, however when loading or unloading the chair slows down to about 1-2 mph without slowing down the rest of the lift. Super cool!! Staff is extremely friendly and kind as well. Lots of places on the mountain to stop for places to eat lunch, including a huge resort and lodge on top of the mountain.
MoreMy favorite ski resort ever. I have been to many ski resorts, California, Colorado, Utah, and everywhere in between. I keep comparing everything to whitefish. Aside from weekend powder days lift lines are normally non existent. There is terrain for all types of riders. All of the staff seem excited to be there which makes things even better. As with any mountain weather can change, and sometimes visibility stinks. When its clear though its spectacular views. There are so many nice places to stay. Also you are close to glacier national park which is a neat feature.
MoreGreat runs and great staff! I especially appreciated the private lesson with Brian. Myself, my husband and my two kids did a half day lesson with Brian and he was fantastic with my kids. Very patient and definitely had a love of snowboarding that was evident in the way he taught. My kids first time snowboarding was a success. Also appreciated very much the military discount on almost everything!
MoreWe visited for a week and I must say I was thoroughly impressed!!! My wife and I have skied/boarded Colorado extensively but never Montana. We left with many great memories, snow, terrain, and scenery! This mountain in my opinion when at the summit has one of the most spectacular views, in the distance you look into Glacier National Park!!! We cant wait to come back!
MoreWe visited as skiers at base lodge while we were staying at lodge at whitefish in Dec. 2020. Even with a smaller amounts of snow they had many runs open and their staff were helpful and kind. We enjoyed the prices (early in the season they offer early bird passes for 10.00 cheaperand the rental prices were amazing for gear which was in great shape. The weather changes fast here so make sure you bring a variety of clothing to be comfortable. They do have shops at base lodge, the village, and the summit. Prices again are quite reasonable for a resort. They offer in the summer bike trails and a variety of activities for kids. I enjoyed seeing their instructors working with children. They spoke to them kindly and offered a varied level of difficulty. We also had experience with ski patrol being extremely helpful to beginners. There are some good beginner trails but this resort supplies mainly intermediate slopes. Do not let that deter you! It is a fantastic place.
MoreThe staff is upbeat fun and very kind. From the grounds keepers up everyone was friendly and welcoming. Its made for a great stay, from the gondola to the ziplines and all amusements its been above my expectations. Bravo.
