Best soup 😋 and wine 🍷
all of My High expectations..nicely met
my boyfriend and i ate here for my birthday and we were beyond impressed! the food was AMAZING! i definitely recommend the halibut here.
I love the atmosphere and location. The food is exceptional. The waitstaff was super accommodating for our party as we were in a hurry to make a show a few blocks down. The bustling background noise of conversations and clinking glasses add to the appeal.
Food is okay, but definitely not for the price you have to pay. Drinks are good. If you want much much better food at this price, go to Machete.
We love White and Wood! Very consistently high food quality and service. Tonight we were informed of an emergency on our farm, so we had to get our food to go. We had a 30 minute drive to get home and our steaks were still amazing! Always interesting and delicious choices for charcuterie. Highly recommend. Still our favorite!!
Delicious food. Great portions. I recommend doing the 3 courses so you get the full experience. Worth the price.
Beware - Cocktail prices on call brands astronomically priced - just plain embarrassing. Salads are small portions as well as the entrees. Undercooked “Rack of Lamb” of 4. Small Filet Mignon already cut. After the lamb refire it was good, as well as the Filet. Desserts were meh. The expansive verbal descriptions upon presentation are over the top. This was our second and last visit. Judging from the small crowd others seem to agree.
Great experience. Dinner for 2 with tip was 250$. Food was amazing and service top notch. From the greeting to the end, amazing job.
This was my first time at white and wood. The food was amazingly fresh and delicious and The watermelon salad was summer on a plate. The cocktails were yummy and Laura, our server was a delight. Will definitely return and recommend.
Dinned in for the first time here, ordered the lamb chops and spouse ordered the filet mignon. We got the 3 course meal option that includes a salad and dessert 🍨. Also tried the Spice & Nice cocktail the presentation was beautiful. Yet I should of took heed to the name as it definitely has a spicy kick. We ordered the Viva La Frisson and enjoyed them instead.Food was plated nicely, I requested my lamb chops medium well and same for the steak. Both the lamb and steak were good cuts. The steak could have been more seasoned. The lamb chops were more on the fattier side, I do enjoy lamb chops but these were more fatty than I’m use to. Overall the food was okay. There’s better French cuisines & higher end restaurants in the triad w/ higher end experience . This is more so a overpriced bar.
The BEST restaurant in Greensboro but be prepared to pay a little extra. Well worth every penny!
We shared the raw oysters, sea bass, and steak and it was all phenomenal. My favorite cocktail is a paloma so that was a plus since not a lot of restaurants feature it on a menu unless youre at a Mexican restaurant I feel like. I would definitely come again!
Had a really nice time this afternoon with the folks at White and Wood! Our server (Trevorwas awesome and attentive - he even made me a custom mocktail! Food was excellent, service was excellent, drinks were excellent...couldnt have asked for better experience! We popped in at 5 pm and it was quiet, but the place is clearly popular and was crowded by the time we left at 6:15 pm. Definitely make an early reservation!
Awesome meal!!! Great food, great drinks, and great service
Constantly impressed by the experience at White and Wood. We grabbed two seats at the bar on a Friday night and had a great experience. Friendly staff, but super menu with such great innovation. The sea bass in a ramen type broth was beyond the best I’ve ever.
BEWARE!! The food was great! Service good. BUT, and I say but...my wife left the restaurant for our anniversary feeling drugged after a glass of wine and a cocktail (two drinks!!!Something was put in her drink and/or food. After confronting the managers about the experience the next day (we only visited this location on our night out btwwe were met with sceptisism. I asked them to check the cameras and the manager said he would check and report to HR and update us..... Never heard back. If this happens to you, call the police and file a report first...ask questions later. 5 weeks later.. No updates no nothing. We dont want to harm businesses but we dont want people to get hurt. This was a scary experiece for us and we dont wish this upon anyone else. If this happens to you, SPEAK UP!!!! After sharing my experience with a local, they described a similar event at the same restaurant!!! Coincidence??
My food was great. My waitress was great. However, I will not be coming back. The first thing I noticed upon walking through the door was that I was black. I have never felt the "you dont belong here" sensation this much ever in my life. It did not help that the only African American workers were the cooks There were microaggressions being flung left and right and the manager did not come to our table during our entire meal as he did with every other customer. The owner of the restaurant was even in the vicinity but did not acknowledge paying customers and even averted his eyes as we left. I felt decently welcomed by our waitress and several other waiters but not the manager and to be honest some of the customers who are patronizing this restaurant.P.S Not sure if this Is a part of the sensation I was feeling but the manager didnt find my reservations until I mentioned that I have an email and text message confirming my reservation and then I asked if he could honor it. He then was able to see it. I called ahead to make sure that they could our reservation. Sometimes my name can sound ever so ethnic. He also asked if we wanted to sit in the back for more privacy. Could be nothing or could be something... 🙄
Perfect date night with the wifey, we ordered a bottle of Vacheron that paired perfect with our dinner. Laura was our waitress and she gave perfect recommendations and service was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. We had the raw oysters with the lime & cilantro…this made them the best oysters in town 🚨 we also got a chefs choice charcuterie with duck prosciutto…delicious! I had the Chilean sea bass and omg perfect char on the fish and phenomenal flavors that took this dish to another level. Makes you want to pick up the bowl and drink it all and don’t leave a single drop good. Layers of flavor made this the best Sea bass in town. Wifey had the filet and it was cooked to a perfect med-rare as requested. No gristle perfect cut of a filet. The potato pave was incredibly tasty. We had the pot de crème to finish the meal and it was beyond delicious. Not too heavy and enough for 2, definitely satisfies the sweet tooth. Overall incredible service by Laura and food was next level attention to detail and flavors out of this world 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Repeat customers from out of town. Love to sit at the bar. Always exceeds expectations 🙌🏻 They are into good food, cocktails, wine, service. Have had excellent waitresses/tors on all occasions. Highly recommend!!!!!
First the strong points: location, ambiance and wine selection. Weak points: quality and quantity of food for the price. Service was okay. Waitress was nice but not as attentive as I would expect (though it was crowded).
This jewel of a restaurant is perfect for a date night or a ladies night. Our waitress was amazing, the food was amazing (like, amazing amazing), the drinks and bartender were amazing, and the atmosphere is the perfect balance of classy and casual (more on the classy/upscale but with a down to earth vibe). We live 3 hours away, but plan to visit Greensboro for overnights JUST to visit White & Wood!
In my opinion, this is the only restaurant in Greensboro that is truly fine dining. The prices reflect that, but the wine list here is unmatched. The service is impeccable and the addition of the outside dining has added extra space, which is nice. They try really hard to make sure you are happy. Perfect for girls night or date night!
We went here as a celebration dinner and were impressed with our entire experience. The ingredients are high quality and extremely flavorful. We will definitely be back for special occasions and nice date nights!
Great dining experience and service! The food was absolutely delicious and really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. My girlfriend and I each did the 3 course meal for $59. I started off with the Heirloom Tomato Caesar. It was delicious, but fairly small. For the entrée, we both had the NE Halibut and it was incredible. Very buttery and tasty! Pictured for dessert are the Rosemary Olive Oil Cake and the Crème Fraiche Panna Cotta. Both very good as wellIt was a great dining experience and while I enjoyed it, I gave it 4 -stars because the portion sizes were pretty small for paying $200 for dinner. The value just wasnt quite there. Everything else was great!
Cocktails and Cheese tray were great. Love the focus on gin and tonics. Food was not anywhere near as good as previous visit. Sat outside and it was like a street racer party out there. Loud mufflers, blaring music... Overall just a mediocre experience
This was an amazing treat, Im someone who will not spend money on myself for a higher class meal from an establishment such as this, I was forced to for social obligations and had been served the bbq ribs as a part of a 3 course meal and had all thoughts of the meals cost wiped from my mind. (Its pricey). Will I come here regularly probly not. I would however treat this menue as a reward or complement to any special event or date. I was wowed by every moment and every bite.
Fair restaurant, walked in last night with my hat and sneakers servers acted and talked a little down to me which is fine but got a bad vibe, ordered appetizer and left to go to Fleming’s. LOL 😂 if that’s fine dining you got a long way to go. Not about price!!!
We came to this beautiful restaurant today, and I have to write reviews as you must go here! The food was incredible! The service was the beginning at ever Astin and Kaio took care of us. When you make a reservation, ask for Astin and get a table at the Kaio section. The menu is excellent we loved it, the best restaurant in this area. The fix menu is Fantastic!
The waitress was rude and unprofessional. Luckily she handed us off to a manager and he was able to salvage the evening. If you are going to open a "high-end" restaurant train your staff if not on service at least to be kind! The food was great and the drinks amazing. Hopefully they work the kinks out and stop acting pretentious. Cheers!
White & Wood is a hidden gem that gives you high-end culinary dishes with a local hometown feel. Had a strong selection of drinks with some unique cocktails that are worth a try.The food at this place was extremely flavorful. Felt like everything was made from scratch and the dish plating added to the overall experience.Would recommend the NE Halibut in a heartbeat. Fresh ingredients, exceptional flavor profile, and dont be surprised if you fully clear your plate on this dish. It was that good. Would definitely recommend and would head back there when Im in Greensboro again.
Wife and I went there for our 25th anniversary this evening. The service and attention was truly the best we have had in years. Food was excellent and out of the ordinary but in a thoughtful and delicious way. You know its good when there is a flurry of passing plates and bowls around the table. Literally checking the calendar for the next opportunity to visit. White and Wood was the perfect place for this special occasion, thanks to the entire staff!
Amazing food and atmosphere. But truly what makes this place the place you should go is the staff. The manager, Juan, and our server, Austin, along with other members of there staff went so far out of their way to make our night relaxed and enjoyable they must have picked up a couple new stamps in there passports. #bestofthebest
The presentation is truly inviting and definitely gets your hopes up for what you’re about to experience. I enjoyed my entrée the most. My friend’s food looked delicious, as well. I mean you can see for yourself. He cleaned his plate. I took a couple of my lamb chops home and they were just as good the next day. My mushrooms were amazing. I have a restricted diet and was so pleased with how patient the chef was with me. I also felt special because they had to create something just for me, and it was amazing! The dessert, on the other hand, wasn’t so exciting but at least it looked pretty.
Wonderful food and friendly, attentive staff! Upscale without feeling pretentious. We had the chefs choice charcuterie, the burger, the corn chowder, and beef tartare. Everything was top notch! Highly recommend!
They have made a name for themselves with a unique wine list, extensive charcuterie, and imaginative seasonal dishes. Now they have outdone themselves by creating a little oasis on Elm with their European-style “streetery” complete with planter walls and umbrellas. The best part of the experience is still Jake though...he and his team provide outstanding Recommendations and service every time we visit!
Feel badly as we are just rating after countless exceptional experiences. They’ve effectively curated a great experience from atmosphere to team and ownership interaction. We are proud to have this couple, and these great professionals in our town. And.....I’m not typing this after my series of wine and cocktails that I usually have there. Great work guys!
We were here for the New Years dinner. Pricey, but well worth it. Not only was the food spectacular, but the show was great as well! Would recommend to anyone, the menu had something for just about everyone and the three courses were beautifully presented.
Tried White and Wood for the first time and agree with other reviews that the food is overpriced and underwhelming. I ordered the gnocchi and crab and it was just ok. What really got my goat was when I asked if they could substitute Brussels sprouts in place of asparagus which came with the dish. The server came back and said the chef "kindly declined." Really? For the prices being charged, I would think a simple substitution like that to make a customer happy would be a no-brainer. Guess not. So I will "kindly" not return to your restaurant.
Lots of attention to the bar and appetizers, but not so much to the rest of the menu. I have been here twice and found the food underwhelming. Latest order was a crab and gnocchi (which they misspell on the menudish which was very under seasoned and tasted like raw cream. We also tried the grilled cheese which was soggy on one side. The dish came with an arugula salad on the side, which would have been a refreshing break, but somehow tasted like salt had been dumped on it. While the cheese and cured meats plates make for a nice appetizer, the limited entrees, which focus more on presentation than on taste have left me disappointed more than once. I would expect more focus on the food for this price level.
My group of four adults goes to the theater once every few months and we try a different restaurant in Greensboro each time, this one was a disappointment. The service was not bad just a bit slow and the restaurant is very clean. Very overpriced and out of a lot of items. We ordered three drinks, two salads, two cheeseburgers, one halibut and one seafood and pasta dish. The cheeseburgers were bland not seasoned at all. The Caesar salad was fishy. The halibut and the seafood dish were very good. They did not have the peach salad that we wanted to try, no bread offered, one of the signature drinks had to substitute out the main alcohol, they offered zero menu specials. The two lemon drop drinks were undrinkable, The manager attempted to fix them but they still were terrible, we just didn’t want to be rude so we didn’t ask for a different drink. At the end of the night we received a bill which is very confusing but was correct. This is one restaurant I will never go back to. For the amount of money we spent there are many other options that we have been to and will go to again
So much to love about this fantastic little restaurant in Greensboro. The entire staff- host, server, bartender, chef- made us feel welcome. Best seats are at the long bar which overlooks the open, micro-kitchen where they do all the cooking. Perfect for chatting with the talented and personable staff. Everything we ordered was beautiful and delicious- even the plates are lovely!
Then we had the seafood bouillabaisse that did not disappoint. The scallops were seared to perfection. The pasta was tasty though it was a little cold but tasted very good. We like spicy food so we did not mind it but be aware that this dish is on the spicy side. I want to mention that the cocktails were very good as well. I definitely Recommend this place.
Absolutely delicious. Easily one of our favorite go-to’s in Greensboro. We’ve never had anything we didn’t like here.
We had an amazing dinner for girlfriends birthday. Even though the waiter brought us the dessert menu and check before we even got our entree. That didnt ruin our Wonderful meal. I loved the Duck prosciutto, ahi tuna tartar, and the halibut was cooked just right.
Overall, the food was good. However, it did not quite meet my expectations for a "fine dining" restaurant. They were doing some three course meal specials which we ordered. I had the brussel sprout salad. The candied walnuts were delicious but it was over dressed. I ordered a filet mignon cooked medium. They gave me one that was quite well done. I did not want to send it back because it took about an hour for us to get our food. I could tell that the cut of meat was good but the steak had no pink in it whatsoever. It was a bit disappointing. However, the crispy potatoes on the plate were the best thing I had there. They are delicious! I had the creme brulee for dessert and overall, it was solid. The vanilla bean really came out in it.I would be willing to come back to try some other things. However, it did not quite give me the expensive fine dining restaurant that I thought it would be. The server was okay and did a good job with refills and keeping the tables clean. I did not find him to be particularly friendly, but that didnt bother me. Also, my mom ordered a glass of wine that cost around $17. I do not think it was worth that price. I think this restaurant is going to have a hard time competing with local GSO staples like Green Valley Grill.
The first time my partner and I came to White and Wood we just popped in to share a dozen oysters. Our server was extremely well mannered and made us very comfortable.Let me just say that the oysters with their in house "hogwash" marinade is the most delightful morsel of food I have ever experienced. They have a phenomenal wine and cocktail menu but we decided to not indulge on our first visit. I felt very at ease with only purchasing a single appetizer. The server didnt make us feel pressured to spend any more which was nice. Our second visit was almost unimaginably better than the first. The oysters were a bit sweeter but still the most enjoyable item Ive ever ordered at a restaurant. I really cant emphasize this enough. Order the oysters!!! Weve only tried them raw but next time Ill also try them roasted. On Mondays their legendary burger is only 10 dollars. They grind the burgers from filet mignon and ribeye and the experience is unique. I would describe it as being able to taste the air in the meat because they were so freshly ground. This is my favorite restaurant in the world and if you go at half price oyster hour and enjoy their weekly specials you can really get bourgeois on a budget.5 stars isnt nearly enough.
Great food and ambiance. We came here with new friends at their recommendation and were not disappointed. Great cocktail list, meat and cheese plate and entrees. We will be back!
Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed with our experience here. It was our first time, and I really expected a great night. Before we got our entrees one of the staff spilled wine on both of my friends. Her husband had to leave without eating because he needed to wash his suit. They didnt refill the wine that was spilled. They were out of two out of their six dinner entrees. I ordered the lamb chops ($34since I couldnt get the Chilean sea bass. I got two chops that were on the small side and a little fatty. It was accompanied by a slab of roasted cauliflower that had a strange spicy/sweet flavor that I couldnt appreciate. Our cheese and meat plate was delicious, but service was extremely slow. It was also a little difficult to get attention for a refresher on our drinks. We dont think well be back here.
My partner and I came here during restaurant week and had a great experience. He had been here before and talked up the service. Needless to say they lived up to my high expectations, which may have indirectly come from his raving. The service was timely and our server was very friendly. He refilled our waters promptly, and we drank a lot of water since it was a hot day. We both tried the duck confit, but ordered different desserts. I ordered the olive oil cake and he ordered the peach tart. The duck was cooked well. It was not too oily and had a great flavor. The ricotta gnocchi was fantastic. It seemed to melt in my mouth. Both the olive oil cake and the peach tart were delicious. The basil ice cream that came with the peach tart was fantastic. We will definitely come back again.
