Colorful outpost of a taqueria mini-chain known for its eclectic, ever-changing combinations.
Visiting from out of town and heard this was a must try, was absolutely blown away! Each taco had so much flavor! I had the pork belly, shrimp n grits, and jerk chicken. While all three were lovely, that pork belly taco was one of the best things Ive ever eaten, straight up!
Some tacos are hit or miss. salsas were interesting... chips were stale. No need to make a special trip to eat here. 3.3 stars.
Edit: chips still stale. Bbq pork taco. Flavorless. Pork belly taco was underwhelming. And I have to clear my own tables? What am I tipping for? Seems rude. Shall not return.Stale chips everywhere I go in Asheville. Steak taco was tender and had great flavor. Black bean taco was a little spicy and very tasty. Mexican street corn is a cold salad and a total waste. Very friendly service. Maybe compostable cups and silverware? Would still come back, maybe order the Queso and BYO chips.****edit.came back. Total disappointment
White duck simply never disappoints! We usually go to the riverside location but if all places my wife wanted to go for our anniversary dinner. This was it! We’d had one earlier in the day here for a food tour and figured why not just go back. It’s easy and simple. Just be ready to wait for food to come out as it’s no “fast food” they make every taco to order so let them work their magic.
Excellent tacos. My husband and I started with one each and then went back for seconds. We got there just as they opened and were fortunate to grab a spot in the line for round two. At one point the line was out the door, but that just confirms how good the food really is. The flavors are delicious and spot on. The chips and queso are a wonderful addition. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.
Great experience! The shrimp taco is one of the best I’ve ever had and the watermelon sangria is the #1 sangria on the planet. These are must order items. Great menu where each selection sounds incredible. The Jamaican Chicken taco has tons of flavor. My only suggestion would be to offer flour tortillas for those that prefer it to corn. Also, I think the prices are very fair for the quality of the product. Thanks!
By far, the worst tacos I have ever had. Taco Bell does a better job. I had the lamb/gyro tacos, they were cold and just not tasty at all. I also ordered the watermelon sangria, terrible also. One of the employees at our hotel recommended this place. Very disappointing, save your money and go elsewhere.
Nice staff, good food, much more reasonably priced than other places in the area. They have a huge variety of specialty tacos. It is fun to try unique flavors. The dog friendly patio in the back was a nice surprise.
The taco I had here was out of this world good. I had the jerk chicken taco with purple slaw and pineapple that was delicious. Really neat and eclectic menu.
Every thing is delicious. The food comes out fast and there is plenty of patio seating. Jackfruit can be substituted for meat in any taco, and there is also a vegan tofu taco. The watermelon sangria is made with fresh watermelon juice and is delicious.
Great taco spot. I had the Buffalo taco and the BBQ carnitas taco. Both were excellent. The Buffalo Taco was crispy and the flavor was perfect. Not too spicy. Corn tortillas tasted very fresh. This is the kind of place you want to go to twice when on vacation even in a town full of great places to eat.
This place is awesome! I got three completely different tacos themed from all over the globe (Mediterranean, Jamaican Jerk, and American BBQ), and still had at least 3 more choices that I wanted to try out. Definitely go to this place hungry and leave happy!
The lamb gyro taco was sublime. Enjoyed the pulled pork one as well, especially the slaw. My husband was skeptical about visiting, but we would definitely come to White Duck Taco again. Well done.
Genuinely incredible tacos. The gluten free steak and cheese taco was fantastic. They were familiar with celiac disease and very careful about preparation and cross contamination. While they do have a shared fryer, the corn chips are GLUTEN FREE because they are the first thing fried in the morning in fresh oil. I appreciate the care and attention to detail here. I am a highly sensitive celiac and I ate here without any trouble! Highly recommend. Amazing customer service as well!
Wide range of taco options made multiple choice a must. Each taco had its own taste and mix of ingredients. I would go out of my way to try some more of their tacos.
Downtown for the day stopped in for something quick. I got the shrimp tacos and I really dont get why this place is so popular. It was like shrimp out of a can with a ton of sauce. The only thing that was good was the watermelon drink. They also ask if we wanted to leave a tip well no I dont. You get tips for being a server and giving good service. I mean actually waiting on a table. Do not ask for tips it is rude. If a person wants to tip they will let you know. I was a server for many years so I know good proper service. You are paid to do your job not panhandle for tips.
Place is cool, food is good, price is fair, remember to try their voice activated paper towel dispenser. We had jerk chicken taco, I thought the sauce is a little sweet, but it’s not bad.
We originally went to the OG location and there was a line out the door. So we opted to head into downtown to find a bite to eat. We parked and looked across the street and saw this location. It was ment to be. We were stoked because they got really good reviews. We got as a family the duck, Buffalo chicken, the peanut Thai chicken, the jerk chicken and the steak and cheese. All were very good except the jerk. It just wasn’t our style but the rest were the best! This was so good we will return for sure on the next visit. The fact that we slide right in after seeing the line at the other location was amazing! 10 stars!!!! We were so hungry we forgot to get good pics. But please do yourself a favor and get the duck taco, you will thank me later!
Very good place, the tacos are very exotic and very niche, so not great for a very picky eater or a child but they were good if youre willing to try fun tacos. $5 a taco, I ate 2 and was filled. Pretty good price, staff was nice and knowledgeable about allergy and ingredients. Would go again if I was in the area.
Tacos were fun, delicious and good for all palates. Able to make any taco vegetarian by subbing jackfruit which is a plus in my book! Also the coconut lime margarita was DELICIOUS! definitely a must go for a snack, lunch or dinner!
i really dislike giving restaurants unpleasant reviews and i generally dont visit chain like restaurants because they tend to have generic foods however my friend convinced me to try it based on the plant based options.the worst black bean taco Ive had in the USA - to add insult to injury the WHOLE taco was cold!!! AND they charge for sauces which are all terrible and not spicy at all as i was sold on by cashier! The queso option was even worse and reminiscent of velveeta cheese.Even though i only spent a mere $9 at the restaurant i felt robbed!I wouldnt recommend this restaurant at all especially if you appreciate real Mexican foods, perhaps appeals more to those with a love for Tex-Mex and have an Americanized Mexican food palate.
White Duck Taco excels in its variety! Options for meat, vegetarian, and vegan with creative takes on each. Wide selection of beverages all at a decent price. One of the best quick lunch spots downtown. I like to come here after a long run to refuel.
Our second time here and again the tacos are delicious. Presentation and atmosphere was beautiful and chill! Will be back! The frozen Cheerwine with Bourbon was amazing!!
If you like tacos at all, this is a must-visit in Asheville. Tacos here are always unique and delicious! You cant go wrong with your choice! I like that you can order as many tacos as you want, and can mix and match your flavors. I ordered a falafel taco and their fried fish taco and they were both so, so good. The taco itself was high quality (and they give you two per taco because they fill the tacos so fulland the ingredients were all fresh. I tried their salted caramel macaroon pie, though, and was a bit disappointed: It was more like a coconut custard, served in a ramekin (no pie crust), with a thin salted caramel sauce on top. So, stick to what they do best: tacos! Surprising amount of seating inside (they have a back roomplus outside tables with umbrellas!
So many different varieties of tacos! we ordered and shared the shrimp and grits, jerk chicken, steak and cheese, and chicken BLT. Shrimp and grits was our fave. great prices for such yummy and quality food.
This place was on the top of our list to try while in town. We are so glad we visited it because it was delicious. Between two of us, we split 5 different flavors and they were all great. We tried the Korean Beef Bulgogi, Duck w/Mole, Steak and Cheese, Fish, and Bangkok Shrimp. Hard to choose a favorite but probably the Duck. The service was also excellent…fast and friendly.
My favorite tacos are the jerk chicken. You cant eat just one so definitely order at least two. You can taste the love in them 😍
An awesome variety of tacos! We had the shrimp & grits, pork belly, gyro, and black bean & cheese, along with the salsa trio with chips. All of the tacos were amazing. My husband is talking about the pork belly taco still days later. They only downside was that we wanted more chips because the salsas were so delicious we wanted to keep eating after finishing our chips! We will definitely stop here again on our next trip to Asheville!
Friendly staff with great service. Delicious tacos! Loved the BBQ Carnitas and the Duck!
I got the Chicken BLT taco and a chicken Marsala taco awesome. My wife got the Tofu taco and the shrimp taco. Probably the best tacos I’ve ever had. Fast service and friendly.
All very good, but the steak and cheese was delicious! Lamb gyro was pretty good too.
I was told I had to try White Duck tacos, and I am not the kind of person who can say no to tasty tacos! Loved every bite!
The staff was super friendly, fast and caring. I got the bankok shrimp taco, Korean beef and cheer wine mixed drink( seen in the photo). The food was full of flavor, tasty and different. This place is a must try.
The food was creative, fresh and very well presented. It was scrumptious and cooked perfectly. The staff was joyful and friendly. Overall ambiance of this place was great and definitely recommend it for a non-traditional taco 🌮 place in Asheville. They have mixed drinks also.Note - The Jerk chicken option is delicious just not what jerk chicken should taste like 🤷🏽♂️. I did mention this to the staff as a suggestion. Will definitely be visiting this place every time I am in town to try the rest of the menu.
Best "Street Tacos" ever!!! We asked a couple of locals where we should eat and they told us about this place, and we were sure glad they did! The Bangkok Shrimp taco was our favorite. The Lamb Gyro, Fish, and Beef Bulgogi tacos were excellent too!
Wide variety of tacos and some quite unique options. Tacos were quite a bit bigger than what we expected of street tacos and they packed them full.
Delicious tacos with stunning flavors. The pork belly is an absolute must, crispy on the outside, juicy and mouth watering on the inside.
Of course, no weekend trip to Asheville would be complete without a stop at White Duck Taco Shop. My husband and I tried a variety of tacos. Our favorites in order were: Steak and Cheese, Korean Beef Bulgogi, Bangkok Shrimp and Spicy Buffalo Chicken. Were werent very fond of the Lamb Gyro or the Shrimp & Grits. The flavor of the tacos were okay, but the texture felt a bit off compared the all of the other delicious offerings. The fresh lime squeezed margarita was the PERFECT compliment to great tacos!
FREAKY fast tacos, unique and fresh ingredients. I think this is my favorite place in Asheville. No frills, just stupid good food. I had the lamb (think gyro, with less bread!!And steak tacos. My husband has the curry chicken and it was awesome. Not too spicy. Cant wait to go back!!
Creative tacos packed with flavor! The shrimp and grits taco was my favorite, but the duck and pork were also delicious. They have a lot of tacos to choose from and they can also subsidize any meat for jackfruit to make a vegetarian dish. This spot came highly recommended and did not disappoint!
Cute little taco place located in Downtown Asheville. You order up front and they bring the food to your table. I got the BBQ Carnitas and the Lamb Gyro (my favorite). They offer alcoholic beverages. The staff is friendly. The location is clean. Highly recommend for a quick bite to eat.
Some pretty delicious tacos. I ordered a carnita taco and a lamb gyro taco. My husband ordered the carnita taco and a bulgogi taco. We both liked what we ordered. Two tacos made a great light lunch.
I was walking towards this place by foot, uphill, staring at the map on my phone and I still managed to walk right past it without noticing it. It was easy to notice walking the other direction. They have a ton of creative and untraditional, Americanized taco flavors. I got the shrimp and the BLT. They were both very large, but I didnt really love either of them. I would happily try some other flavors. They also had 3 local beers on tap. I did enjoy the large outdoor seating area and the IPA I drank.
A bit underwhelming but I believe the other ones in town have a better rating. We got the duck and kimchi tacos and they were okay. After a long day, it was much needed fuel rather than one delicious taco. I do have to say though, their watermelon sangria was delicious. I would try again but go to a different location
Korean beef, Bangkok shrimp, lamb gyro tacos really hit the spot after a long drive. It was some of the best tacos I’ve ever eaten. The staff was extremely friendly, the line was long, but I really enjoyed their tentativeness and speed to get everyone seated.I like the option of having outdoor seating and my wife and I chose to sit pretty close to the river. Best restaurant experience I had in Asheville.
A wonderful place to eat! You can eat indoors, or they have nice outdoor seating as well. The staff are so sweet! The tacos are $4.20 each, but come with 2 tortillas and enough filling to make 2 tacos out of one order. We got the Chips and Salsa, Bangkok Shrimp, Fish Taco, Bahn Mi, Korean Beef Bulgogi, Steak and Cheese, and the Spicy Buffalo Chicken, and a side order of the Mexican Street Corn. We especially liked the Korean Beef Bulgogi and Steak and Cheese tacos! Wasnt a fan of the corn, sweeter than we expected haha.
These tacos are phenomenal delicious. Wish I had a place like this in Miami. I have lived in Los Angeles and these are not traditional tacos obviously but the flavors of all of them are great!! I ordered the Korean Beef, spicy Buffalo, steak and cheese, pork belly and roasted duck. They are all very delicious!Favorites at the moment were the Buffalo it has bites of blue cheese.Another favorite was the pork belly!Looking forward to returning! One day
Super friendly group working here. Flavor was great in tacos. I did prefer some over others. Definitely creative! I didnt like the tenderloin of chicken in the Masala but shrimp and grits was creative AND yummy!!
Awesome taco place. Many different options, very friendly service, and the 2 times weve been theyve brought the food out within minutes of our order. Excellent flavor and variety for the money. Definitely worth a try if youre in Asheville on a Taco Tuesday.
This was my first time at White Duck Taco Shop in downtown Ashville. I got lucky to get a metor spot right out front of the shop but it wasnt working and 45 minutes to 6pm when it is free. I rushed in telling the staff they made sure the order came out real quick cause no one wants a 30 dollar ticket. Shout out ! I was surprised by the great variety and picked two gluten free different tacos. Everything is takeout right now which is the new norm but when i stop to eat them. Wow they were delicious and bursting with flavor. best tacos ever!Try them out you wont be disappointed
