Public park with trails, grills, a splash pad, ball fields/courts, disc golf & community gardens.
Nice park om south side of IC. Splash pad in the summer for little ones, basketball court, community garden with walking trail and 9 hole disc golf with concrete pads.
Very nice!Maybe because less people this time of the year
First year renting a plot in the community garden. Soil quality is excellent. Rental cost a bargain, considering water use, compost and mulch is all included. Only downside is that I got a corner lot that is next to a tree, so half my plot is shady most of the day.
Nice little park. Includes Tennis, Basket Ball courts and restrooms.
For garden and also good for kids to play
Wetherby park brings the country into the city with excellent equipment and amazing opportunities for exercise and play. The newly updated playground features a large variety of climbing, swinging, and exploring options for the 10-and-under crowd. Older kids and adults will enjoy the two and a half basketball courts, the paved loop for running and biking, and the disc golf course. There is a field for soccer, a new (2021restroom, a good sized pavilion, and a seasonal splash pad! This park is a great stop if you live in town, or just want to stretch your legs when you’re driving through.
I used to walk my former roommates dog around this park until I had to move, but nowadays I get to walk my own doggo around here and we both love it. This park is a lot bigger than it appears and is just a nice place to chill.
A great park for riding bikes, walking dogs, and letting kids play (splash pad and new playground equipment). There is also a community garden if you are into that.
Splash pad and community garden. Fun for kids
After the refresh of the equipment last year, this park is great for kids of all ages. The adjacent splash pad is loved by the kids as well
Great little open park !!Very well up kept and nice !!Highly recommended!
Loved the park clean safe pleasant
Hidden in a part of the Eastside that is somewhat obscure. Great walking trail amidst interesting scenery. Plus abuts a cool community garden amd disc golf course. Highly recommended.
Great place for kids to play and have fun
Its really just a play park and a picnic area but theres an awesome splash pad there you push a button to get it started and its time to go to this and that and the other thing its a lot of fun I even enjoyed it as an adult
The community garden is inexpensive and a good way to spend time outside.
This large park has lots to offer. With a splash pad, playground, edible forest, disc golf course, and large walking path, there is something for everyone. New playground installed 2021 ideal for climbers and spinners. The splash pad is open Memorial Day through Labor Day and is a great way to cool off during the summer. The park is a nice safe distance from the street and theres plenty of parking available.Special features:Splash padEdible forestDisc golf coursePaved walking trail2 Basketball courts + half courtCommunity gardensPlay fieldAmenities:Large pavilionParking: large parking lotOn-site water: yesOn-site bathroom: yes
Nice 9 hole disc golf course. As well as a very nice new playground.
Fun little disc golf course. Take the entire fam, great for all ages and skill levels. The tee pads are cement, distance is marked in cement next to the tees. Each hole has two basket locations. The course flowed nicely. Its an open course with few trees but does feature some elevation change. The tee on Hole 5 was my personal favorite; the fence sitting out in the distance just daring you to fly over it and carry the edge of basket ball court to the basket, what a rush. The patrons in the park were friendly and happliy pointed me the way to the 1st tee. Which is just over the hill adjacent to the end of the parking lot. Others waved and others said hello. The only draw back I saw was there were no restrooms, but there was construction going on so hopefully upon completion restrooms will be included. But other than that I enjoyed my scouting trip and look forward to returning with others.
Excellent community project with many fruit trees and herbs.
This is an ok park with a childrens play area, basketball court, frisbee golf course and a very nice community garden for anyone who loves to garden. The park also has a splash pad for those hot summer days. The childrens play area with slides and jungle gym could stand to be larger. This park also has a nice path around the whole park to walk or run on.
Lovely in the summer. Kids playing. Pets running around. Theres places to grill. A little old but well kept.
A great place for a Church picnic! Has good parking.
Nice park has a splash pad during the summer, frisbee golf course, basketball courts, walking trails and a community garden.
Disc golfers beware: the patch of scrub by the 3rd hole is known to eat discs. Other than that, excellent little course.
Clean, friendly, hot fresh food and has never got my order wrong
I really like making the walk around the park. In the evening you always get to see at least 12 plus dear roaming the field. I wish they would make a better walkway that didnt have so much grass down the middle strip. Its hard to walk on uneven surfaces for elderly people I imagine and 8 month pregnant people like myself.
Safe for kids family oriented clean fun water sprinklers for the heat of summer
The children love this park. The splash pad is lovely!
Nice park. Kids enjoy the splash pad and park is always in use lots of kids to play with.
Spacious and clean. The park has trail that circles around a large field where you could play soccer or baseball etc. There is also a free splash pad for the little ones, basketball court, bbq grills and one shelter that has restrooms
Nice water park for the kids. Strong police presence though. Which means that the area must be high crime or shady...
Nice open park great visibility to watch your run and never lose sight also has basketball courts and 9 hole frisbee golf course
Great place to jog. Half gravel, half hardtop path. Nice frisbee golf course too!
It would be a cool park if parents would watch they kids
Community gardening spaces are a nice feature of the park.
Splash pad, playground, and basketball courts are all here by convienant parking! This place also has sandboxes!
Could use some more shaded areas around the disc golf course but well maintained and surprisingly entertaining course with a splash pad, updated playground equipment, a shelter and bathrooms. Community garden also
I love Wetherby Park. It is large and my animals go crazy at all the rabbit and ground squirrel holes.Splashpad for the kiddies to run thru. Swings a slide with monkey barsOnly thing with so many homes it is hard to feel the expanse of nature or to see the stars at night. Wheelchair users can wheel with some ease on the cemented areas. There are bathrooms for males and females which are open when programs are going onThe water faucet is not always on either. There is a basketball court. People rent garden plot from the city of Iowa City,IA. Team sports like baseball happen in afternoon. Evenings lovers walkFriends walk tooI love the prairie experience at Wetherby Park. Illicit acts like people pulling up to sell their wares to teens who live near by. Disputes at the garden when food thieves are caught as they harvest vegetables which are not theirs. A slice of life and living when it is live and let liveThis review changes as visits vary.
Designed for families & children, not really a park for quiet picnics.
The splash pad is great, but I cant speak for the rest of it. For those with younger toddlers, the splash pad has concrete, not soft like others in the area (e.g. North Liberty and Tiffin). Good variety of fountains, speakers, etc. for both young and old.
Great place for kids to play and get wet on a hot summer day. Multiple basket ball courts sand box & a playground.
Great place to go walk or play a short disc golf course. They dont always mow the field often in the summer.
Splash pad is super fun. Lovely quick 9 holes of disc golf. Beautiful views.
Lovely little park nestled away in South Iowa City. It has a nice little walk trail, and a great beginner disc golf course.
Can be a fun little park when not overly populated.
Great disc golf course for beginners or just practice, its only 9 holes. It has a splash pad to cool off in on hot days
Great small city park. Has playground equipment, splash pad, open shelter, basketball hoop, parking lot, wide open field, and a path. Community garden spaces available. Bookmobile visits once a week in the summer.
This park has serious potential it just needs a little love and care and it can be even more amazing. I just cant wait to see the edible forest in bloom!!
The park is ok so is the splashpad. They can make it better and they know they can. They could add some more benches and more playground equipment.
