Western Royal Inn in Tillamook
Description
Room was clean. Needs clean towels in bathroom.
The room was clean and very comfortable the staff was very friendly I will stay here again when I come back to Tillamook
MoreNothing like the pictures… absolutely disgusting…. Floor, night stands and bathroom handle were not cleaned at all. Want a cheap run down room this is your place to go.
MoreThis place was nasty. My wife and I wouldnt even take our socks off in the room. We went and bought febreez and sprayed the whole room and still could not get rid of the smell. None of the pictures online are current. My guess is any review saying otherwise is an employee or one of the people who live in the rooms. Spend more money and stay somewhere else.
MoreMy grandson was eaten up by bed bugs. Why cant I post a picture?
This was the worst place I ever been to, their was bed bugs in room #218. My son was feasted on, his body was covered in bites. Dont stay there.
MoreUpon arrival the outside look of the hotel was nothing like the website pictures which was disheartening since we had just driven 5 1/2 hours. We then enter our room which again not even close to the pictures displayed online. The bathroom floor was nasty gross, the microwave had something all over the top of it that had never been cleaned off. The chairs at the table were full of stains on the fabric. Had it not been the Oregon Coast was full for one night we would have found another place to sleep. The sign outside says dont fly by nest here but we highly recommend you fly on by.
MoreThey told us that they have a room with 2 queen beds but they didnt tell us 1 was a pull out couch
MoreIf you don’t mind dirty hotels, then it’s an ok hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Me and my family of four stayed here last month, as part of our trip down the Oregon Coast. It was one of the cheaper places in the area, and the pictures online looked fine. The outside looked a bit run down, but we figured it was just in need of new paint. When we got to our room, we noticed that it was very dirty. The carpets have a brown layer in the heavy traffic areas, as if they haven’t been steam cleaned in a long time. Plus pieces of dirt that the vacuum missed. The night stand was sticky, and had build up of gunk on the edges where people touch it often. We have a crawling infant and put him on the floor for a few moments and his knees turned brown. So we didn’t want him in the floor after that, which made it difficult to hold him and keep him up.They have signs up everywhere as instructions for guests like “wipe shoes off before entering the room” “only flush toilet paper or you’ll clog pipes.” They had a sign telling guests not to use the wash cloths for makeup or you’ll be charged for stained towels. And to request a special makeup cloth at the front. But the ironic thing was that the towel they folded nicely to hold the new soaps was stained and grungy. We also might have found bed bugs? Not exactly sure but it was a bug, it was in the bed and squished when my husband tried to brush it away, it was smaller than a flea. I looked and found lots of black spots around the mattress but none of them were crawling. Just to be safe we bagged all our clothes and items we had put in the room so they were separate, and had to wash them at our next hotel.I reported the bugs to the staff at check out, and she was nice about it. She said the owner could check the room and if he found bugs we could get some money back. We had two hungry, fussing kids in the car so I didn’t want to wait around for him to check everything. I just said that’s ok never mind, and we left.It could be a cute place, if the owners replaced the grungy, run down items. And hired a cleaning company that would deep clean the rooms. If cleanliness is important to you, I wouldn’t recommend staying in this hotel.
MoreNot the worst place Ive ever stayed. Giving it a 4 for the great service.Boyfriend and I stayed recently for one night with our baby.Only cons: For a non smoking room, our room definitely smelled like cigarettes the second we walked in, however it wasnt anything we couldnt air out or handle for the few hours we were sleeping. For 100 bucks on a weekend, it was about as expected and honestly a good deal for the location.Huge Pro: The customer service was above and beyond, honestly. We didnt catch her name but the lady who checked us in was extremely helpful. Around 730 pm we had asked for extra pillows and a crib for our baby to sleep in if available. She gave us the pillows and wasnt sure if a crib was available so she went and looked for a crib and personally came up to our room and handed us the crib for our baby. It was so nice as a couple tired parents and a cranky baby!If you ask for what you need, more likely than not you will get it!Thanks for your excellent service.
MoreOur neighbors we were traveling with their room smelled luke wet dog but our room smelled like fresh cigarette smoke. Since we are smokers ourselves the smell in our room didnt bother us but the other room booked was bothersome with the wet dog smell and the only other thing wrong with our room was when we opened the door the bats came in and hung out on the wall but that was okay too we didnt mind one of them was a baby and we just moved him to a post outside in the morning. The people were great though and we made new friends and they didnt hesitate to transfer you if you were unhappy. We will be back. The ladies at the desk were absolutely amazing and our new friends live closer to us in Beaverton so thats really cool. And theres lots of restaurants near the hotel and Fred Meyer only one or two stop lights away if you need anything to put in the refrigerator or the microwave in the room and or the coffee pot which I was super excited that the small carafe filled both of our go cups which are very large. It was a pleasant stay.
MoreThis place looks NOTHING like the photos. Based on the nice photos and reviews, I booked this place for part of my girlfriends birthday trip. It totally broke my heart when I saw the look on her face upon entry into our room. I couldnt get another place last minute and I was way too exhausted after driving over 11 hours, so we had to stay here. I have stayed at places ranging from Travelodge or Motel 6 to The Four Seasons. Although the front office staff was very nice, this was the worst place I have ever stayed at.1. The carpets were stained in several places (see photosand the bottom of my white socks turned dark brown after walking on the floor. This is how I test cleanliness.2. Both beds were hard and had large dents in the middle, indicating the mattresses need to be replaced.3. The linens on the bed had mysterious stains on them and a few short black hairs in them.4. There were large black spiders on the ceiling and flying insects in the room. We discovered there was a large opening in the bedroom window screen which we covered. I suffered from several itchy bug bites on my exposed legs. Thankfully, I brought my Ivarest!5. There is a microwave sitting on top of the bathroom sink area which left barely enough room for one of our toiletries.6. The bathroom tub has blackened sticky pads which should be replaced or cleaned. The oil stains and dead skin from dirty feet causes these antislip mats to turn black. These mats should be cleaned with something like R.O.G.37. The bathroom smells like sewage backed up. The stench was so bad, my eyes started to water. I went out and bought some spray bleach which helped to mask the smell long enough for us to take a shower.8. The TVs had exposed wiring and receiver boxes. This is unsightly.9. The laundry room: floors were so filthy (see photosand there was a box of opened spaghetti, books, plastic hangers and misc items. The dryer filter is very old and needs to be replaced. After a heavy wash cycle our small load of clothes had so much laundry detergent on it, we had to rinse it by hand before putting the load into the dryer. After 70 minutes of drying time on high setting, our socks were still damp!10. I woke up with various itchy bug bites all over my exposed legs! Thankfully, I had Ivarest. Sad I had to use it after spending a night in a motel room and not on any of our recent backpacking trips.I am writing this honest review in hopes that management will make necessary repairs and improvements. Also, I am hoping management will at least provide a partial refund to make it up to us. I am a hard worker and saved up for this place rather than spend another night camping.
MoreThe sheets, towels, sink, toilet and shower were clean and there were no bed bugs. The floor was so dirty that walking from the the shower to the bed and the bottom of my feet were black. I probably ruined a towel using sanitizer to clean my feet. When you first open the door and turn on the lights you will question your choices... All of the finishes (paint, flooring, etc.are a total hack job. I laughed. My wife did not. So - if you need a cheap hotel this one works - just dont walk around barefoot.
MoreWorst hotel I’ve ever been to carpet covered in. Black mold stunk like mildew and rotten wood they haven’t put a penny into that place since it was built in the 50s no skilld labor for repairs. Serious dump keep driving
MoreExcellent little inn. The people at the counter were very kind and lovely. Cool gift shop. Clean and renovated rooms.
MoreFrom the road its not that great looking. The roomwe had was clean. It was older for sure and you can hear the upper floor walking and light coming under the door. Light was shining under the door, and bed not the softest BUT if you looking for a good stopping point thats clean, hot shower,no bugs, and cheap 90.00 then this is great place
MoreVery rude staff. I called ahead and no one picked up the phone, so I visited in person. I found a rate on booking.com that I was hoping to match and I was told that the room was sold out and if I purchased the room online, my purchase would be declined (which was a lie). Then I was told that if the room wasnt sold out, it wouldve been cheaper if I booked through the hotel itself. When I asked what the rate wouldve been, I was told "it varies." How can it be cheaper if you cant even check the price? The staff does not know what theyre talking about, very frustrating experience.
MoreNice cheap clean Chinese restaurant in same parking lot bar restaurant across street
MoreNot sure what happened but around 8pm some awful smell hit the area and made the stay unpleasant. Probably not the hotels fault? The single pain windows dont block the noise of the highway. Water pressure was good and the price was adequate for what you get. Bring your own pillows the two for each bed are sub par.
Morewas $79.00 for a night, no breakfast and or accomadations(xtra sheet, )? unless it is the last place then id mossey on.
MoreMy family and I stayed here for over 2 weeks and the staff was amazing. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. We really appreciated how nice and helpful they were. I would definitely stay again whenever I go to Tillamook
MorePros:. Inexpensive, clean and safe. Hotel and rooms are quite clean. Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. If youre looking for a spot to crash for a night, this is perfect.Cons: Walls are quite thin so it can be a bit noisy. Nothingn wild, just everyday people noises. Also, water was only luke warm and when the neighbors showered or flushed their toilets it woke me a couple of times. Beds and pillows could be a bit more comfy but theyre not terribly bad. However, you get what you pay for and the price is quite reasonable so Im not complaining. It is clean and safe and I met some really nice people during my stay.Id stay here again.
MoreMy bed had dog hair on it shower had hair my friends white socks where BLACK FROM WALKING ON GROUND!!;( the front desk elderly woman was extremely rude and loud and made me feel like I was not able to to rent from here! Also there was a wet stinky floor mat rolled up and placed on bath tub:(
MoreThe rooms are clean and the staff was nice. This is an older place and it looks like they are trying to renovate at best they can. Being on the cheaper side there are alot of families with children here. You can hear the noise from the road at all hours and you can really hear when someone is using the shower in the rooms above or next to yours. That was very surprising at 11:30 at night. I wont probably be staying here again since the extra money for staying at the Shilo or Ashley Inn further down the road is worth it in my opinion.
MoreVery helpful front desk person got us a room @ noon when we needed it. Rooms were very clean and smelled wonderful! Cleaning staff fun and friendly. Cable, coffee in room, fridge, ice close by. Hot shower, good water pressure. You can purchase breakfast items and there is small store on site. Just a short distance to where we wanted to be crabbing and clamming so big hit with us! Will definitely return!
MoreFeels like an older place, but they keep it up well. They have a mini convenience store and the check in office so thats useful for when you come back too tired to go out again. The refrigerator and microwave in my room were quite old (but still worked).
MoreRoom was clean and sparce. Hannah, the receptionist, was friendly and efficient. Only two very small pillows .. needed bigger ones and at least two more. Worth $156 for one night? Still not sure, but probably expected for summer weekend rate.
MoreRoom was clean, but... Bed was mushy soft, pillows were useless. Decor was dated. Rooms are about 240 feet from US 101 - which wasnt as loud as we expected (after 11 at night). East side of property is against an empty field which was a plus.
MoreBy far the the best hotel I’ve stayed in! The staff is amazing. The rooms are clean the beds aren’t the comfiest but every else was perfect! I will definitely stay here every time I come to tillamook. 10/10 would recommend!
MoreExcellent Excellent Excellent customer service. Soooooo friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. Everyone was quiet at night and the motel was full. Minimal traffic sounds. The only complaint is the remote for the 2nd tv didnt work. Fortunately nobody was using that room. Would definitely stay here again. Loved that there were separate rooms in case we do return with kids or friends.
MoreRooms were clean but the beds werent too comfortable. $15 extra per pet. Very nice staff. No hair dryer in room, bathroom amenities werent too good. Overall not a bad place. I would look for somewhere else to stay but wouldnt hate it if I had to stay here again.
MoreI got to meet the owner and he was so kind. The pictures showing the rooms while booking were not remotely close to the actual room. The room was updated, nice, and comfortable! I would highly recommend this location for a short and cheap stay.
MoreWe were delayed in our arrival, several times, & Bob was very gracious & responded quickly by email & voice mail to assure me our room would be waiting when ever we arrive, to just ring the bell & he would come check us in. The entire booking, check in & staff are excellent. Literally had no problem, & although I forgot to mention I have trouble with stairs, we were put right next to easy entrance. The room was perfect ,& clean. The gift shop had everything we could need & great prices.
MoreThe place looks a lot better than last year! The bathroom wall had some water damage, and they DIDNT have a continental breakfast like their site said. Once you get to the office theres a sign that says you can PURCHASE breakfast items to take back to your room. So that was kind of a disappointment because I chose this hotel partially because they offered this. The service has been fine and the people are pretty friendly. So other than that, no other complaints!
MoreLet me start by saying the owner is very nice. He has clearly demonstrated his patriotism in the appearance of the inn. Im not a political person but I will always respect and appreciate someones love for this country however they choose to celebrate it.That being said, I personally think that a business like a hotel/motel/inn really doesnt need to have a political stance and it attracts a very specific demographic of people. Clearly its working well enough for this place, but for a family with 3 small children it doesnt cultivate a feeling of security. We paid for the night and still ended up driving home at 8:30 instead of staying here. From the ominous stains on the floor that I refused to let my 10 month old twins crawl on to the couple screaming at each other in the parking lot, there were more reasons to not want to stay the night than there were to stick it out and try to get our moneys worth out of it.I dont want to be judgemental but the various other travellers sporting "redneck lives matter" and super loud American flag tank tops, along with the sketchy van that the disfunctional couple came in, set the tone for what inevitably became a series of red flags. I think this would be a good option for someone to stay at if theyre traveling light and dipping out in the morning, but if you have young kids Id recommend staying anywhere else. The taco truck across the street is amazing though. That is possibly the #1 perk of this place.
MoreWe had to stay over due to business with very full motels up and down 101 and unavailabiliity this holiday weekend. The owner was kind funny accomodating and the rooms bright clean and spacious... Thank you again for taking us all in and making our stay over worth it. We were well cared for and worth every penny.
MoreWe booked the King Luxury suite! It is so beautiful! It has a balcony and the jetted tub was perfect. No breakfast offered since Covid but at least we were able to get away for an evening for our anniversary. FYI there is not a bathroom door!
MoreGirl at the front counter was very nice. Room was clean and comfortable and a very reasonable price. Only complaint was the heater/ air conditioner was slightly falling off the wall but still worked fine. Would definitely be a repeat customer 🙂
MoreVery poor motel communication. Was told after purchasing the room for the night that there was no hot water but was assured that it would be on before closing. I called the front desk and the attendant told me it would be 6 am before they could get the part but assured that it would be fixed by checkout, didnt happen. Dont believe what they tell you its probably not going to be true. No refund by the way either this is how these people work. Good luck to all
MoreThe paint on the bathroom walls are peeling, only limited to so many towels per room unable to use them for anything but showering. Carpeting is so sticky, walking bare footed isnt a good idea, my feet got filthy walking from bed to bathroom. Although it was a nice place to have pets, for the price that was charged, the upkeep could have been MUCH better.
MoreI stayed at the Western Royal Inn between Jun 24-Jun 27, checking out on Fri Jun 28 AM. During my stay this hotel ran out of HOT WATER! It took nearly 3 hours before I was able to take a shower and start my day. This not only delayed my schedule but it was highly inconvenient! I complained to management and advised we would settle up at check out. At check out the receptionist told me the manager was not in. She assured me the manager would call me after I got home to AZ. Well, this manager did not even have the courtesy to call me or return my subsequent calls. I feel I am owed a partial refund. Everyone that travels expect customer service to be excellent. This manager has NO integrity nor does he care about repeat business. Do NOT stay at this hotel. It was dirty, outdated and customer service sucks! I will NEVER stay here again. I am writing a letter to headquarters to recommend this manager be fired for his rude and unprofessional behavior. My time is worth being reimbursed for it. I give this zero stars.
MoreFantastic room and service. The place looks a little wind battered from the outside, but the rooms are fantastic for the area. This hotel is also about a ten to fifteen minute walk to the Tillamook Transit Center. A must if you plan on using the bus line up and down the coast. I wish there were cheap hostels in the area. Nothing till Seaside. This is the next best thing.
MoreMy family lives in Washington and spend most of our getaways going up and down the 101 and the Oregon Mountains and this is by far the best value weve ever had. We got a large room with a very comfy couch and bed for $70 . It was clean, new coffee maker, hot shower and had everything the chain motels that are all well over $100 do. We had stuck to some of the name brand hotels recently because of some poor experiences with smaller places along the coast but gave this a try because of other good reviews and Im really happy we did. It will be our new go to for the Oregon Coast.
MoreDecent choice for a night. My room was spacious and clean. Furniture is a bit dated but it didn’t feel ratty. Convenient location, comfortable bed, and fairly quiet for sleep.
MoreNot pleased. The staff I checked in with never even got up out of her sit to help us. She just sat and acted like we are a problem for checking in. We had a registration. Trash and recycling was over the lobby on the customer side.I understand the hotel Is being updating. But it looks like they have been using this excuse for a long time. The room was super cold in February. The heater was off. It took two hours to heat up the room. I understand about saving money on electricity, but we had reservations and they could have turn the heater on a little. The room and sheets smelled. The sheets are sea foam green not white, only two pillows, and the blankets did not fit the bed with two people sleeping. No extra blanket, pillow or hair dryer.I noticed the poorly remodeled job on the ceiling. I wonder why the ceiling was updated. Then I looked in the shower and saw Black mold on the ceiling.Black mold in the bathroom.I would have give a lower score but the shower was hot and the check out staff had great customer service.Heads up $500 smoking fine.I will make sure to pay the extra $10!to stay at a nicer hotel in town.I will never be back. Owners replied to my post is out of line and unprofessional. I will not take down my post. Customer service is very poor and petty. Editing my post is the only way I can reply to owners reply. This is my first bad review.
MorePrice for the room was good, at $20 less a night than the other nearest hotels. Room was clean and looked updated, which included a small fridge and microwave. Unfortunately thats where the good aspects end. Beds were cheap and too firm, the pillows were like rocks. Road noise was loud and can be heard all night long. In addition to people talking in the halls and at the smoking area which we were near. Sadly I probably wouldnt stay here again.
MoreIm giving them 5 stars because I love the cuteness of this place. Rob and his wife own the place and are in the process of renovating and remodeling, which will take time. I know this as I worked in this industry for 14 years running a family owned resort. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is Danish, cereal, fruit and some of the best coffee available in the mornings from 7 to 10. They were the best price which is why we booked but Im happy thats what brought us to them. Hope to make it back this way again.
MoreNice clean units at moderate cost. This motel outshines most motels in Garibaldi by far. The cost for a room with 2 queen beds is at least a 3rd cheaper than any we have found. Continental breakfast each morning as well. The staff are friendly and pleased to help when need arises.
MoreThe room wss clean (despite carpet stains), the bed was fine, and the water pressure was spectacular. A little noisy due to proximity to the highway but it didnt bother me. Didnt check out the free breakfast. Overall a perfectly adequate budget motel for the price.
MoreTouring the coast we stopped here for the evening. We arrived at 10:30 at night to a locked office and a courtesy phone to ask for assistance. We had reservations luckily as the place was booked solid. It took a few minutes for someone to show but after that the check in was smooth. The room had two beds separated by the bathroom, so the room would be good for a small group traveling together. This was the highlight though. The carpets were stained and the sheets were as well. The bathroom was dingy, the sink had gouges in it and no stopper. Breakfast was served in an unused guest room and was cereal, apples, coffee, and some prepackaged pastries. It got the job done.
