British cuisine served in opulent, white-tablecloth dining room with framed mirrors and chandeliers.
I ordered a coffee latte and waited 15 minutes for him to make it for me
Food was great but facilities are v old and they charges us £8 extra for ordering beef on top of our £60 per person dinner charge excl drinks...
Good as an experience but the food and service used to be much much better.
The Hoo is an amazing place to stay.and eat. Posh but not pretentious. Superb service, staff rooms etc
Fabulous restaurant, very tasty food. My husband and I are vegetarian and the chef gave us a special compliment, the food was delicious and all the other dishes were great. We had a great evening celebrating my birthday. Most thanks to Reevens for his outstanding service and assistance.I highly recommend this classy restaurant to all.
Great service for all staff. Very well-decorated place to dine in.
Food not too bad main meal gravy very salty cant get rid of the salt taste at min very slow was there for a 3 course meal and took around 2 and a half hours in total
Lovely setting. However for the price the service should be excellent. Regretfully this wasnt the case with long waits and lack of attention.
Superb venue and food quality but Sunday lunch menu for children poor and unimaginative (hot dog, pizza for a 5* restaurant not good enoughand waiting staff very amiable but some clearly inexperienced
On Friday 18th March 2022 my brother sister and I along with our partners finally managed to use the vouchers we had been given for xmas 2019 and I have to say the company were very very good about extending the deadline for them. Unfortunately this is where the level of service ended. On arrival we were directed to our table (he pointed to our tablehowever my husband had to manoeuvre between two serving stands which were being used for nearby tables .Then when we ordered drinks the waitress had to go to another room 3 times to find out what soft drinks were available. A very limited choice was offered having only one drink available for our diabetic being diet coke which he doesnt like, so he had to settle for water. The 1st course was left on the stand in the sauceboat allowing a skin to form while the staff chatted. When the mains arrived, we had difficulty understanding the waitress, so asked her to just leave them. The original waitress then removed the covers from the 4 fish dishes before going to get the 2 chicken meals by which time the fish dishes had cooledWe were amazed with the dessert choices for diabetics, with the only option being cheese and biscuits and although tasty, carried a surcharge of £4. Surely a smaller portion could have been provided as part of the 3 course meal. We never even got offered coffee! My brother was disappointed when he saw that a service charge had automatically been added to the bill as the vouchers had been bought as a Christmas gift
Booked in for a 6:30 dinner. Prefer to eat early. Restaurants closed however and invited to wait in lounge with menus. 30 minutes later finally invited back into the restaurant.More delay. At 7:15 they took our order. Not to difficult to choose, 6 starters, 6 main course and 6 puddings all in for £52 each. Wed had 45 minutes with the menus by then. Nothing else. But for £52 it should be amazing.Or so I thought ...Then an age awaiting our first course. 8 p.m. in fact. 90 minutes after our booked reservation. No drinks, only water.Food highly seasoned. Always a sign the chef is rushed and too liberal with the salt.At 8:45 weve eaten. Bill arrives more promptly than any of the three courses had.Now the shock. Not £52 each. £79 each. Would you believe they had the cheek to charge for the vegetables served with the main course. Not extras I should add, these were the vegetables served on the plate with the chicken fillet. So nothing wed ordered - just something that was dumped on the plate with the meats.Plus a compulsory 10% service charge. So kept waiting. Slow in all respects. Very average food, over-seasoned. Tiny portions. Hidden charges for vegetables that were never ordered.£160 for two? Never again. The Wernher should be ashamed of themselves. Chandeliers alone do not justify mega prices. We expect good food too.On the way out I was informed the kitchen had been staffed by only one chef and a trainee assistant. With over 50 covers.Save yourself a journey. Hugely disappointing.
Stunning meal and stunning service from Sharon
Extremely good restaurant with fantastic views. Great for lunch at the weekend if you are not actually staying at the hotel, or a treat for a special occasion. This is the first time I have been in a few years, but the quality is just as good as always.
Recently had dinner here with a friend and we were both unfortunately left feeling very disappointed with our experience. We arrived early and I will say, Rob who greeted us was wonderful. An absolute asset to the team and more than happy to take some photos and was a pleasure to talk to!Our dining experience however was not what we expected. The starter arrived promptly, however it took 50 minutes for our main to come out. We raised this and the waiter was aware wed been waiting a long time and tried to find out what was going on.Our main then came out, but wasnt hot, the beef was warm, however the rest of the food was cold. Our wine then arrived after wed finished eating. We had to wait a further half hour for our dessert to come out.We tried on several occasions to order drinks, and get the waiters attention, the service was not good. This was further made worse by the majority of staff preparing for breakfast the following morning whilst we were trying to place orders, and felt quite ignored and just in the way.I did try to call to discuss the experience and asked for Jonathan, as advised by Rob who kindly asked how our meal was at the end of the evening, however was left on hold for 20 minutes and eventually hung up as no one was answering.I do not think this is what people generally experience based on the reviews, however we will not be returning.
Lovely surroundings, delicious food, and helpful attentive waiting staff.
Thank you!!!!! I would like to recognise the chefs for making the most wonderful lunch for my wife last Sunday. We phoned in advance to explain "Ks" dietary requirements. The restaurant listened and assured us that they would manage it all for us.Sunday came and the chefs made the most wonderful entree and made "K" feel so special. Thank you once again for a wonderful Sunday lunch
Great atmosphere and style, great wine, good staff and service but the food was way below pre pandemic levels
5 star food very expensive especially the wine lovely surroundings good service
Fabulous meal with great friends. Our choice of wine was superb and the food delicious. We felt the 3 course Sunday lunch was a fair price given the quality, service and setting. We will be back!
Great staff, very attentive. Great venue with lovely views. Great drinks with plenty of volume. But sadly just good food, missing the punch of everything above.
Good was fine, service was at best indifferent. Obviously a lot of new untrained staff.
We still loved our evening but it is quite obvious that the service is far from being pre-covid.We could not have drinks on the terrasses as every single table had dirty glasses on it.It took 20 minutes to have our drink order taken in the lounge. The 4 drinks did not get served on a tray but in 2 lots of 2 by hand.No citrus slice on the cosmopolitans.Food was deliciousConsidering how little service we get because of covid restrictions the 10% service charge is too high. These details need sorting as they are not ecpected in such a high class hotel. We had the same experience a few weeks ago...
Nothing major, just overpriced. The food could use more flavour. Portion was okay for me but that’s cause I went for the chateaubriand, otherwise it’s generally small. Would’ve liked a better selection of desserts. Service was below average and we had to wait a while to be seated when I’ve booked in advance. Wine on the list was not available but charged higher price for off menu rosé.I’ve also rang them over five times to get my bill emailed to me but nothing esp. after they assured me they would. Perhaps they shouldn’t charge that 12.5% service charge after all..
Wonderful unhurried service and perfectly presented dishes in a magnificent opulent marble laden pillared walls with high ceilings overlooking the spectacular rear gardens of the Mansion.Sunday lunch was perfect, every morsel of food was incredible with the best Yorkshire puddings weve ever eaten out! A well cooked lunch, beautiful fresh asparagus starter and well presented caramelised Apple tart was the perfect dessert. The petit fours were a lovely end to a delicious meal.Service was initially a little slow because of COVID restrictions and a very busy service but the staff were so lovely despite all of the extra tasks to keep us all safe so patience is a virtue at the moment. The room is very warm so recommend you dress appropriately. I had a pashmina which I didnt need once seated and was glad I wasnt wearing a warm outfit. If you are looking for an indulgent Sunday afternoon or dinner, highly recommend. Only open Wednesdays to Sundays.Advise booking early especially for Sunday lunch as it is very busy.Fish and vegetarian options are available but I would let them know in advance if you are vegan so they have the best options available for your visit.
Wonderful dining room to eat lunch in. Good service. Food enjoyable and not rushed. Finished by drinking coffee leisurely. Wonderful time.
Delightful flavours in a great setting . Friendly understated service as well.Good selection of unique starters followed by an interesting selection of main courses . The toast potatoes in beef dripping are everyones favourite and worthy as a side order.Good selection of wine but not extensive as if you are reading war and peace.
Lovely afternoon tea in a pleasant, peaceful setting. Staff provided an excellent service.
Location lovely, canapés tasted odd. Hospitality was average. Ladies on drink reception were lovely. Service during meal was cold and unfriendly. Tried to smile and cheer up the gentleman waiting on us but he was still miserable. Luton Hoo need to raise their standards. Been a few times. This being the third time in 12 months dining there, usually a little better but this was notably different in terms of hospitality and standard of expectations it was disappointing. Does beg the question on whether they are investing in staff moral and happiness? Standards are key to reputation!
Beautiful tapestries and marble panelled walls with views down over the lawns to the lake. Food is excellent.
Breakfast time is from 7am - 10am. Dinner dress code is highly strict and tagged to be wholly corporate. There is absolutely nothing negative I can write about my experience at the Luton Hoo Hotel - restaurant
Amazing historical building. My Latte was great 😅👍🏼
Great Sunday lunch and amazing venue. Dress smart.
Lovely food and lovely setting for my Uncles 80th birthday bash. Staff very friendly and attentive. We had a set meal with choices, all sounded devine and all were beautifully presented. Could have wished for a friendlier atmosphere or nicer setting
The place was excellent, staff very attentive and the food was really tasty and delicate. Highly recommended!
Not the best of experiences, considering the venue and the cost. Our booked table wasnt ready for us. The staff were pleasant enough but not too much on the ball; getting things wrong, frequently going to the wrong table and some things took ages to arrive. The food was ok and there was plenty of choice. The overall experience just wasnt brilliant, especially for the money, all a bit muddly but they did try.
A long winding approach, through the tree lined road and rolling fields greets you before Luton Hoo Mansion emerges from the many tall old established trees that surround it. you are greeted by a smartly dressed Concierge and pointed in the direction of the grand entrance where you step into the world of royalty, past Kings and queens and Winston Churchill. the food aint that bad, either, although a the experience is a bit pricey!
Beautiful. I have had two lovely breakfasts here. I was very pleased. The Luton Hoo is beautiful, and a nice walk around the garden is always nice afterwards.
Expected slightly better service, waited a while to get first drinks. Excellent greetings at the front of house from the car park to the front lobby. Food superb, wine well priced, just thought the service should be a bit more responsive.
A classic "old school" English Restaurant. Very formal silver service with a select menu offering excellent food perfectly cooked. Fabulous surroundings and views of Luton Hoo. Perfect place for any special event but please do dress smartly.
The whole experience is just amazing. From how you are treated phoning to reserve a table. How you are received at the main entrance, to how you are shown to your table. The service is just so perfect and exactly as you need it . No staff in your face but making you feel so very special. Then to be in such an amazingly beautiful house. Each room is breathtaking ..The whole experience is fabulous.Ive been lucky now to have had morning coffee to afternoon tea. Now Sunday dinner. We will visit again..
Food was nice. They can accommendate gluten free quite well. It is a shame that they do not have any gluten free desert option other than fruit and cheese board
Superb restaurant in a fantastic location. If you get a chance spend the night in the Hotel you wont regret it (although your bank manager may have something to say!).
Faded grandeur, service is middling. We had breakfast, it was good but nothing like the spreads at other 5* hotels. On the plus side, the cooked breakfast was good but portions small. Overall, I would rate this a 3 1/2 * hotel. We cancelled our dinner reservation so cannot comment on their evening vesion of fine dining.
Save here for an extra special treat / occasion. Food fabulous - staff occasionally need a little more training! The decor and ambience are really second to none.
Not much choice for veggie but staff will try to accommodate but good wasnt very hot. Dessert was delightful. Shame admin staff always mess booking up.
The food is good the service needs to be improved a little. The dinner service having eaten there before was as expected. The breakfast service was poor. The breakfast service is open till 10.30am on a Sunday morning. We arrived at 9.45 am and were told that they where getting some tables relaid as having been used. We where escorted into the lounge for tea and cookies. We had to ask for service as we were left for approx 15 mins. We asked the waiter when we would be called through to breakfast we got no response and then approx 10.20 were told our table was ready. There was a buffet that had all the regular food and we helped ourselves. The hot food we ordered was delivered to our table whilst we where still eating a bowl of fresh fruit from the buffet. Table now was jammed with plates and food. This is not what you expect from a 5 star hotel. The hot food I had was dry eggs scrambled, beans dry obviously been under the heater on the hot plate. 10.40 the manager or team leader asked if we would like to go into the lounge as they were starting to prep for lunch. Awful experience at a very expensive location to have best. We were residents of the hotel the night before.
A double height room of marble lined walls which feels surprisingly cosy. Its definitely got the wow factor. With highly attentive waiters and good chefs.
This is a really stunning setting for a romantic dinner. Grandeur and splendour. Lovely food, well presented with silver service, great wine list. Have cocktails in the lounge or coffee and listen to the gentle live piano playing. Wonderful views of the estate.
A perfect setting with superb service in opulent surroundings. Missed out on 5 stars as I felt the good food needed to be just a step better to match the surroundings and staff
Me and my husband got married at Luton Hoo. Today we took our son (5 months oldand our sister with her daughter (4 years oldback for lunch there to recall our good memories. However we were all so dissapointed at the services offered here. Although the staffs at the door as well as the reception were exceptionally nice, the waitors and waitresses were totally opposite. Before the foods came out, my son cried out loud. I quickly pushed him out of the restaurant area and we went around the mansion until he stopped crying. And when he was nearly asleep, I took him back to the restaurant and I stood by our table pushing the pram back and forth to make sure he would fall to deep sleep before I could sit down and enjoy my foods. However, while I was doing so, a waitor came up and asked me to push the pram out because (as he quoted it was disturbing to others. But I looked around and everyone else was all having fun with laughs and loud conversations. So I asked him who actually found it disturbing because I was standing by my table at one place and my pram didnt make any noises at all either. He couldnt answer and then he turned to my sisters daughter and asked her to volumn down her iphones noise down instead (even though it was at 1 level of sound). This was the first time ever that I was asked to push the pram out. Even at other restaurants when the baby cried, they came and asked if I needed any help. They even tried to smooth the baby down on my behalf so that I could finish up my dishes. But here, at such a classy restaurant, me and my not-crying-baby were asked to leave because it was DISTURBING? He couldnt even find a better word to say. So dissapointed.
