Wellé Wadiya Beach Hotel and Restaurant in Puttalam

Beautiful location right on the beach. The best part of the stay was the manager Luke who was very helpful, responsive and polite, making us feel welcomed and making our stay pleasant. These made up for the state of the facilities and food, which were average. It felt like this place has seen better days.

The staff was super rude. Had to contact the owner in order to make a reservation and he was living in UK! Hats off to the owner for trying to get things done from another country. The staff there literally told us that cant be bothered to serve locals. That was a eye opener!

Friendly staff but the place needs to be refurbished, the entire beach area was heavily polluted with plastics and other kind of rubbishs. Its a shame to see because it has potential.

excellent serves... food is superb... the location is unbelievable...we came to Kalpitiya for the beach...but we wear given so much more...the people are absolutely wonderful..i was at the wella wadiea on the 3rd and the 4th of November the staff treated us so well and Mr Luke was so kind and friendly. he personally so to all our needs...keep up the good work guys we will be coming for a longer stay the next time

Its the prime spot in Kalpitiya. Beach front has a small pool and facing indian ocean. Fabulous beach and placid sea up until noon. Warm caretakers with good local information. Family friendly .

Its a hidden gem! Just amazing! One of the best vacations I have ever had in there. We were there in March, so it was calm and nice. The beach is very near, and you can enjoy amazing sunsets. The food in this hotel is heavenly tasty! Everything we had was amazing. And the workers are so caring. You feel like you are at home. Highly recommended!

We stayed at welle wadiya for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beach was right In front and they have a lovely, clean pool too. The staff were very warm and hospitable, rooms spacious and clean. I highly recommend this place.

We booked the entire place which perfectly for for 15 people and had one of the best experiences ever. Pool where next to it you can have a small party. Hammocks, fresh kurumba, extremely friendly staff and amazing food. Starry sky at night chilled out not crowded beach. Truly a paradise experience.

Good rooms and good food...

Overcharging for awful food, rooms are decent, but Kalpitiya obviously has better. Ended up hanging out at Kitesurfing Lanka :))

We meet a guy name sammen, great guy help us and serve us very well, Friend for life. Also the kitchen guy has make a perfect meals for us, very tasty.

I stayed in Room 3 - wow!!! We chose this hotel because it was smaller and off the beaten track and we were not disappointed. The staff were very attentive and the food was amazing. We had dinner in the terrace restaurant and watched the sunset on most evening during our stay. Try the lagoon crab curry or the seafood rice with salad... to be honest they will make you anything you like. I felt so relaxed and welcome.

Lovely hotel right on the beach. Rooms are clean, with large beds and large balconies and have nice sea views. Food in the restaurant is really tasty, definitely the best food we experienced in Sri Lanka.

Very good quiet place with good staff, accommodation, location and good (we didnt have to dine somewhere else). Ive no doubt Ill stay here again when I come back to Kalpitiya.

Nice little boutique beach hotel with great service and amazing food. It’s the first only hotel in the area with direct beach access. I just wish we had more time there. Will definitely return next year.

Place was clean and tidy. The food was not authentic Sri Lankan. Staff are very coordial and helpful for the smallest things. Enjoyed my stay even though it was a two nights.

I got over charged. Hotel owner very very rude. Would not accept responsibility. Told me to deal with Expedia. Expedia told me to deal with hotel. Very upsetting to be treated like this on vacation. Do not go here.Didnt end up staying here but hotel looked pretty run down.

We had an amazing time at welle wadiya on our family vacation. Stayed 5 days but we coukd have easily spent 3 weeks there. It is a very new hotel and rooms are large and very clean. They had amazing sea views. The kids loved splashing around in the sea, which is on the door step. We will be back.

What a great place to stay. The food was great, it was very relaxing and the staff were amazing. Far better than the main stream hotels that are packed with people and just too busy. Thank you for your hospitality!

Worse welcome I received in my all life. We arrived at 11pm after having booked and the door man was drunk and angry. He refused to give us the room during the night and ends by insulting us and we had to leave in the middle of the night with no solution. The hotel was almost empty

Great local and fresh home made food

Fantastic location right on the beach, with excellent facilities and beautiful rooms. The food is brilliant and all the staff go out of their way to help you. They arranged a memoriable dolphin watching boat trip during which we saw so many dancing around the boat that we lost count. This is an idealic holiday stay in Sri Lanka to relax at

Great place to relax away from hustle and bustle of daily life. Great views and wonderful food. The staff is very helpful and can guide you on what to do around the town. Can rent scooter to ride into town and also visit nearby safari for a day trip

Definitely would recommend this place. Small and right at the beach, with great staff and really good, fresh food. WiFi now works fine, both in rooms and on ground floor restaurant. Owner is really friendly, and happy to help with anything.One thing to note: rooms on the first level dont have AC.

Nice place in a lovely position. Right on the beach, which is well cleaned there by the hotel compared to the rest of it, as noted by a previous reviewer. We had no hot water (though it wasnt unpleasantly cold by any means), and on check out the local power was out so we had to be taken to an ATM to get cash (this is irritating only because it sounded like a scheduled outage and we could have paid earlier if told). Also the wifi didnt work at any time.

Great place, right at the very well kept beach, cleaned daily by the hotel staff. Wondered around the village and this is the best place we found.We came with our 3yo and we all loved it. I was kitesurfing in lagoon while my wife and son enjoyed having beach just to themselves. Amazing.Very clean for 3 star hotel, staff extremely friendly and helpful, assisting with any of your travelling and sightseeing needs.Due to power supply problems no AC but it was just fine with ceiling fans, besides, I doubt any other place in village has AC due to the same reason.Highly recommended.
