Waypoint Public House in Madison

This is a seasonal spot for a friend and I. We always meet here after an event. The beer is always changing but it’s always good. Big brand beers are not what this place is about. Always a large craft beer list and I’ve never been disappointed with what I choose. Food is good. This particular trip I had the pepper jack chicken sandwich. My only complaint is the bun should be toasted because the sandwich doesn’t hold together very well. I ended up having to use a fork and knife to finish it. Great sandwich, just falling out all over the place.

Walked in on a Wednesday night, and we were seated immediately. Plenty of local and German beer options on tap. They also have a full bar with some signature cocktails. I ordered the brisket and mac and cheese and it was great. Definitely recommend.

Unique selections for food. Nachos were pretty good and a lot of them so get them if your really hungry or have 3+ people. Tacos were good but had a different flavor. Chips had a bit too much seasoning on them.

This is a fun place on the south side of Madison (really Monona areathat is unique. Good food and decent drink selection. Its an upscale sports bar maybe? However you describe it, definitely worth checking out!

Come get the Rueben and you will be so satisfied. From Chicago but I’d gladly drive 2 hours for this sandwich! Toss salad was great too!

Walleye and eggs brunch very good. Service and staff great. Nice location and atmosphere. Only downside was limited parking on Sunday brunch time.

The food was good and accurate, the waiter was engaging and fun but parking is not fun.

An excellent place on the water to hang out. The food specials are always on point and the tap list rotates frequently with a beautiful selection of beers. The staff is friendly.

Really cozy and charming atmosphere. It’s in a weird location (an apartment buildingbut once you park and find the place it’s a cute pub on the water. They have some gluten free choices— the gluten free burgers are good. This place is a bit nostalgic for me as my husband and I went on our first date here and it’s where I tried my first Old Fashioned. The bar is nice to sit at, but the restaurant is nice as well.

Typical, yummy bar food. Decent $2 off drinks and app happy hour, with a big tap list!

Large restaurant with a deck overlooking the water. Not far off the highway.Friendly service, large menu, and tasty entrees. Our waitress answered questions and made suggestions for our group of five.We enjoyed the Cheese Curds and the Hummus Plate as appetizers. The summer salad was FANTASTIC! Fresh, lots of fruit, a good serving size. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees.We chose the place based on the rating and the location for an easy meet-up. Wed definitely return.

Love this place! Thank you for going above the beyond with your spicy 5 bean burger. Ive been a vegetarian since 1978, so Ive been around the block a few times when it comes to bean burgers and this is the best one Ive ever had! All the other food here has been a pleasure as well. Mix that with Friendly staff and great atmosphere and youve got a winner that I hope will become a longtime staple of the Madison area. I cant wait to try their brunch soon.

Best wings in Madison hands down!!!... Probably the best smoked wings in the state!

Excellent quality food! We got the Pesto chicken sandwich, Brie Burger, and the Housestyle smoked wings. We agreed they were some of the best wings weve ever had!

Cool place with a nice water facing patio. Getting a parking spot was challenging. Nice menu choices and draft selections.My waitress didn’t know all of the details of the burger special so was disappointed when it arrived and it wasn’t cooked correctly.Add on chicken for the salads was very dry. Beer pricing is on par thought the food was a bit spendy. I would give it another shot though

Ate here to finally experience that outdoor view Id witnessed while passing on the Beltline. Turns out the view of the restaurant from the highway is better off the freeway from the restaurant. 😆Luckily, the food is spot on. Had the gyros which were excellent. Everything that graced the table was delicious. Ill visit again.

First time here for a Sunday brunch and had the very delicious Waypoint Benedict with a mimosa. The brunch potatoes come tossed with a slightly tangy sauce for some added flavor. I am sure you could ask to skip that if you prefer. Outdoor seating was nice but you do hear and see the beltline traffic. On a nice day it is still worth it. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful.

Great place for dinner. We missed the kitchen so we ordered ahead and they set it aside for us! Good food, huge beer slection

Really amazing atmosphere! Were able to sit outside for dinner. Staff was very kind and worked hard to get us a table quickly! Food was really great!

The host was extremely loud when seating people and telling servers about their new tables. Beer list is great and you can order samples to try before you order. The buffalo cauliflower wings are amazing. The quinoa falafel bowl was bland. Falafel and quinoa were bland and had no seasoning. The pickled red onions and the cucumber sauce helped though. My server was attentive, but very awkward. He looked like he was in pain and hated his job.

The Eggs Benedict for Sunday morning brunch was excellent. Service was also top notch. Friendly greeting to start, timely service throughout and a smile and a wave goodbye as we left.

This Strawberry Pina salad was amazing!

Great atmosphere right on the water and delicious food & drinks. We particularly like the tenderloin poutine and Chipotle southwest salad. Gracious and welcoming staff - will definitely come back!

Have been going here for years, always great food and great service. Love the changing menu and variety of items. All of the staff from bartenders to wait staff are very friendly. Keeps me coming back!

Good food, great service. I liked everything though I will note the homemade chips were really spicy. Might want to get some ranch to cool that spice if you’re not into that.

Great lakeview, fast serving, family friendly. On Friday, good fried fish, so-so the grilled one. Very good cheese curds, excellent beers (the Alaskian one was great!). Very kind servers too!

Be prepared to come hungry & leave stuffed. Great food & good selection of beers on tap. Quick (barservice even during busy dinner rush. Brunch was good but very limited menu (during Covid)

I used to love this place, but when my partner and I visited recently, we were disappointed. Although my partners drink was lovely, the food was the opposite. Our poutine did not taste great, our burgers were so dry they crumbled, the coleslaw was inedible, and the quality of everything was so different from when we were last there. Our server was not very friendly, but I do appreciate the hosts kindness and hospitality. Im sad that this restaurant has gone downhill.

If you want a hardy Midwest meal and drink this is the place for you. For me, the bluegill sandwich, spicy veggie chili and a big WI beer hits the spot. They also have other sandwiches, entrees and salads. Check it out.

Went with a few friends. We All had a great meal. Its not generic bar food. I personally had Shrimp tacos and couldnt have been more pleased. A huge thumbs up for this gem.

I am not one who leaves reviews but I must give Waypoint Public House credit where credit is due.A friend & I had dinner there last night. The food was delicious & the prices were great. Great drinks too. The gal, Dale waiting on us was courteous and friendly. Always love coming here.

I do not usually leave reviews...although Im starting to think I should do this more often. I travel quite a bit for work. It is a blessing (not-too-religiousto find a place where you can go and have a drink or two. Waypoint is definitely one of those places. Great food...great service...atmosphere...and food. This place is cool! I have to admit...Im impressed. Its the kind of place that makes you think...why isnt every place this way?

Great environment with excellent selections. Oliver was the best server Ive ever had, Ill be back because of him. Wow. So impressed.

In town for Ironman event and went here for Cheese curds. Drinks were good. Not easily accessible for parking but cute view of lake.Service was excellent!

A hidden gem. A very clean and nice looking bar. Service was on point. Wings and tacos were wonderful. The beer selection was nice. There is large bar and plenty of seating. Possibly outdoor seating too. I will go back.

Enjoyed sitting on the patio of this Google map find just off the freeway. We both ordered a salad from the good variety they had. Hubby wanted the wings, especially after how Great they looked, but is trying to eat more salad.My Waypoint Power salad was supposed to come with a peanut dressing that I asked to exchange for ranch. Hubby asked for a ranch along with his Southwest Salad. We were surprised to see a charge of.75 per but they took off the charges when we asked.The food was good but the edamame in my salad was wrinkled and hard, not like its supposed to be. We asked 2 people about it but they were unsure why.Still, overall good food.

SUNDAY BRUNCH, I loved it! Amalia was such a great host at the bar, and is a fabulous bartender. She created some craft drinks for me. She also had the best recommendation for brunch items. Tip of the hat to the wonderful team. The dock made it much easier to get to (by boatand we didnt have to deal with finding a parking space in the crowded parking lot shared by the residences above. It is very easy to miss the entrance if you arent looking. Oh, love the brisket nachos as well. Just wish wings would be available more often.

Wonderful, spacious and fun restaurant in a beautiful location. Patio is beautiful and very open with plenty of seating. Food was delicious and cocktails were great. Fun variety of specialty cocktails and great place to go for a small bite and cocktail or a full meal! Highly recommend!

Food was delicious and service was prompt. Restaurant can be difficult to find if you haven’t been there before. It’s underneath some apartment buildings and there’s a small sign pointing you in the right direction.

Great place. Very COVID cautious. Great beer selection. I had a Fat Squirrel from New Glarus, one of my favorites. The cheese curds are possibly the best Ive ever had. I ordered the ABLT sandwich and fries. Everything was great, especially the friendly, masked servers!!

Great beer list, good food, nice staff, great patio and the inside is very nice as well. Just visited again after a year. Still like the place. Sitting outside on the river is sweet. The Beltline is just a low roar. Had 3 great beers, wings (dry rubwere fantastic. Deviled eggs were fun, with a bacon strip jammed in the top! Wait staff were fun, prompt and helpful. Theres a pier if you wanna stop by on your transit between Waubesa and Monona too!!

First of all, we picked this restaurant because it had good reviews and for the gluten free options. It is difficult to find. Its on the bottom of an apartment building and there are no signs telling you where to go to find the place. We thought we were in the wrong parking lot. Would be helpful if they had a little sign in the ground in front of the building pointing you in the right direction like another business did.I had an ABLT (BLT with avocadoand my boyfriend had the salmon sandwich. I had my sandwich on gluten free bread. One thing we both agreed on was that the food had barely any flavor. My BLT supposedly had garlic aioli on it and when she brought me a little extra in a dish and I tried it by itself I couldnt tell I was eating anything with garlic. My coleslaw was dry and had no seasoning at all. He had the ceviche for a side and that was actually pretty good.I was disheartened to find out that they didnt have a dedicated gluten free fryer especially when they had so many things that could be made gluten free. Was looking forward to French fries.Our waitress was decently attentive which was nice. They have a huge beer list and encourage you to sample some before you land on one. Samples are free and generous. Lots of gluten free alcohol options too.Our bill was about $40 which we did not feel justified the quality of the food. Would we come back? We wouldnt rush to by any means, but if we were desperate we might give it another shot.

Good spot to meet friends for drinks and snacks. The cheese curds are great. Excellent tap selection. Entrees sandwichs were yummy and service was prompt without being intrusive. Great open atmosphere and nice views of the water.
