Waukesha County Historical Society & Museum in Waukesha
Description
I followed Google map to the T and couldnt find it. Circled around and tried again and still couldnt find it. Was disappointed, but had to move on.
MoreThis was really good. I thought I knew about Les Paul. No I didn’t, but I do now. There was also an excellent exhibit telling the story of the county in 100 objects. All this is in a historical courthouse annex that was built as a government relief project during the Great Depression. Parked on the street next to the building.
MoreFabulous place to discover the entire history of Waukesha
Les Pauls exhibit was very enjoyable. Staff was friendly and informative. Admission was inexpensive, plenty of on-street parking.
MoreVery enjoyable and interesting. Box lunch from Rochester Deli was delicious and fresh. Topic was on historical markers. Beautiful building.
Morereally neat museum for a city this size. i was there they had a rotating exhibit that was celebrating 125 year of Waukesha. also have a realy nice permanent exhibit for Les Paul. definitely worth checking out
MoreGreat Les Paul exhibit. Had the original "Log" on loan plus a few others from the Smithsonian and Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
MoreVery informational and admission was affordable
Great job showing me around the Les Paul display. Thank you.
Only driven by the building, now disabled, following.
Pretty cool. A lot of les Paul stuff
Nice place to visit.
Friendly staff, some great exhibits and great price.
I took my Dad here while he was visiting from out of state to see the Les Paul exhibit. He has been a Les fan his entire life. Great exhibit and the young lady who was on staff was really sweet and helpful.
MoreA treasure of Waukesha that not enough people see. Volunteers will research your family history, the history of a business or building, or other historical information. There is now a gorgeous event space designed by Chef Jack of Waukesha thats definitely worth consideration.
MoreOur community is blessed with this museum. Their staff does a wonderful job preserving history.
MoreIt was small, not much to see, left you wanting more.
Incredible resource with wonderful staff.
It was a great experience, we had 3 groups of kids come into the Les Paul exhibit we played our hamonicas for them. Les first played the harmonica. Was a great time for all.
MoreWas impressed with the museum, if you like music and Les Paul this is the place to go.
MoreIm a big fan of Les Paul so that was the draw for me. A small but lovely journey through his endeavors as a innovator and incredible musician. Dont miss it.
MoreLes Paul exhibit is a small self contained part of the Waukesha County Museum. It will take you 10 minutes at the most to take a look to the whole room. If you are a Les Paul enthusiast dont expect too much or you will be disappointed.
MoreThe Led Paul exhibit is very informative. I hope the museum grows. It seems very small now.
MoreI visited in December 2018. Warm and friendly staff. They do what they can with what they have. Small but interesting exhibits. Nothing negative to say.
MoreIm so happy to finally have visited Les Pauls permanent exhibition at the Waukesha County Historical Society and Museum coming all the way from NYC. Although a small gallery it is a very significant tribute from his birthplace of Waukesha, WI to a great guitarist, innovator and inventor and one can feel his presence throughout the different exhibits. I recommend and encourage history lover(s), admirers and musicians, as I am, to visit this significant and adjacent exhibitions when traveling through the Midwest.
MoreBeautiful and fun, love the historic features <3
Very interesting and friendly place to visit
2 very nice but small exhibits. Les Paul and one other. $7.50 is too much for just 2 exhibits and a postage stamp sized gift shop . Loved the Les Paul exhibit though, very complete history of his life.
MoreCurrently undergoing renovation, the only exhibits that were available are the Les Paul and the summer of 2018 exhibition “Making Faces” featuring caricatures by artist John Kascht. Both were good, and I found the artist notes by Mr. Kascht very interesting as he described the process by which he creates a caricature. Worth a look, however I was expecting more, especially more about Waukesha county itself. Will be worth visiting in the future as renovations are completed.
MoreAwesome exhibits!
A truly great museum in the midst of major renovations within an historic former courthouse and jail, right in the heart of downtown Waukesha!
MoreThe Les Paul exhibit is most of what youll enjoy. Most of the rest is haphazardly assembled. Worth a look.
MoreYou can learn more about guitarist Les Paul.
