Cant believe this fish and chip shop is still here. I used to come down down here when I was a kid in the 80s to get 20c worth of chips lolThe counter used to be at the back of the shop. Now I see its on the side and the min chips is 1750% more expensive. They were good chips back then. Ill have to come back and try them some time

Wasnt impressed. Chips were a little bit greasy. Average in all areas.

Food is average. There are strong smell of oil in the food. It is smell of the oil that being reused too many times.

Where do I begin?After reading such positive reviews online my partner and I went to this fish and chip shop thinking we would have yet another great experience like all those who have claimed to before us. Firstly, they mucked up our order, we ordered battered Calamari, and when they tried to give us our food they told us that we asked for crumbed, and spoke down to my partner when she told the worker that she certainly ordered battered. And therefore they reluctantly made us battered, however as their way to show us how unhappy they were that they messed up, which does happen time to time, they then removed my partners Grilled Flake from the order, made us pay for it and leave the store without the flake in the packaging, when they had assured us that it was in there. To which we called the store and they basically admitted to it, and then hung the phone up on my partner.I dont think theyre bad people, however they are clearly bitter people, and bitter by their own doing, so it unfortunate. And all this leads me to believe that their online reviews have clearly had some "in-house" tweaking to appear higher in quality.All in all, apart from the complete lack of customer service, the food was just your average Fish and Chips, and certainly not worthy of a 4.9Star rating. I hope for their sake they can improve on their service, because they might have a chance of being a good place to go if they become Humanly Approachable.

Went here for chips and fish and it was tasty. Great customer service, especially the employee named Cooper. He is very kind and welcoming.

Weve been there many times, i and my family love the food there. I am a fish eater, i can tell they use the best quality local fish. People there are very nice and friendly, this shop is always busy in the evenings, sometimes waiting a bit long, but id rather waiting for their good food. recommend

Greasy , lack of communication, why do new people change a shop that gave good takeaway. Food VERY greasy and placed in brown bags, not even wrapped in paper. Why do people change a shop that was successful. I will never go back, very disappointed.

I find the owner quite rude when you say hello he doesnt even acknowledge you ever time Ive asked for the chip to be well done they are barely cooked. I wont be going back there.

Definitely below average experience. Food is fine but most the workers could definitely be a little more friendly. Kind of hard to talk to and pushy. I got told "GO TO ATM!", "WAIT OUTSIDE!" "GRAB DRINK!" "Card no good!" I was told "That is your problem" after trying to explain I did not want to use the ATM to get cash out but simply had to go online to activate my replacement card which was a quick thing but I was unaware of because it had worked earlier that day at other outlets. As it was my first time visiting because I am new to the area I definitely felt very unwelcomed and rather belittled. This may be a cultural difference in taking a lot of arrogant authoratative pride in their work but I much prefer a place with real customer service. The polite young girl on the phone was very kind though, but I feel sorry for her as her voice broke while saying bye to me, as I assume she is uncomfortable working there and no wonder. I will definitely be opting for the other "Seafood Bar" fish n chips shop just a small walk away. I also disagree with the review from Christine Hills here stating that is totally OK to shout and go over the top at a carer and an autistic man. What is wrong with you that would make you enable that sort of abuse? Have you never seen people opening up a drink in Woolies before paying for it? Firstly, in the the case of criminal law it is not illegal. Secondly, here is a good scenario to consider, if it is someone who is feeling their blood sugars drop and they need a fruit juice before finishing their shopping, what is it to you to attack the customer? It is more of a cost to yourself and them. Please do not condone aggressive behaviour and mistreatment of carers and on disabled individuals, Christine. "What is wrong with the world" you ask? People enabling this sort of thing.

The fish is fresh and delicious, the potato cakes are yummy, all in all good food and friendly staff.

Good place to avoid work in, they got heaps of things here. If only one had lots of cashEvery visit reveals more new products. All enquiries are expertly answered. Have purchased many things here over the years.

First visit tonight, new to the area, busy shop which is a good sign. Chips were OK, snapper was good, barramundi was a bit small, everything else was good. The burgers they were making for other customers smelled amazing so I will be going back to try them

After several attempts, I would not recommend. Potato-cakes are ok. The calamari rings are definately not of the real variety. Hot dogs in batter overcooked and split. Chips undercooked, fish was dry and steamed dim sims sitting in bag too long prior to order being given. Either find a better option on the strip or go to Viewbank F&C store as they are the best I have had to date. I will be going back there even though they are out of my way way now.

Fish was stale n bland. Chips were way too much, like they were giving it away...had to feed the mugpies with them.

I have been coming to this shop for many, many years and Ive seen quite a few changes in ownership; all of which have been great. The shop is clean and tidy, the quality of the food is excellent, and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Which brings me to my next point ie. the bad review Dave Bishop gave. Dave, these people are trying to make a living. They work extremely hard. The issue of the autistic man coming in and swiping 2 bottles of Coke without paying is the responsibility of the Carer to sort out, not the staff. If there is no money to pay for the items, they shouldnt have been picked up in the first place. Its that simple. I work with disabled people and do not condone the actions of this Carer. She should have been overseeing her client every step of the way and stopped him from even going into the shop. Why blame the staff? Going with your line of thought, its ok to take items you want and say, "Ill pay later if thats ok with you". Sheesh! What is wrong with this world?

I was present yesterday at about 4.30 (7/12/18when I observed an obviously autistic man enter the store with his female carer. The man selected to bottles of coke and left the store and the carer reassured staff that she would be back momentarily to pay as she had to get money from the other carer. The carry on from the staff that followed was pathetic. The carer tried to explain that the man was autistic and that they would be paid immediately. Their reaction was over the top and nothing but disgusting. They showed no empathy for this man whatsoever. I will never patronise this business again.

Food was good, but they mucked up my order. This was a particular problem, as I was collecting at closing time.

Update to a previous review. Have gone back to this fish and chip shop as we now believe it is the best one in the strip. If you like real calamari ask for the battered type as the other one is reconstituted.

Battered fish was soggy and had no flavour. Reconstituted calamari. Packet fried prawns. Would not recommend.

Nice easy to get location. Definitely the best fish and chips in the area and worth the drive from greensborough. Good vegetarian options and they have no problems with ordering off the menu. A favourite for me is definitely the vegetarian burger with egg and cheese and their potato cakes.

The best fish and chips in Watsonia. Seems to change hands quite a bit though, and once or twice the chips haven’t been cooked long enough (still cooked - just no crispy).

Take away -good good. I think there is a 10cm step into the store
