Waterside Inn in Torghay

Visited twice. Had lunch one day then had roast the next day (SundayGood size portions, staff friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again when staying in the area.

My local for many years and still always such a lovely experience. Justine, Ayrton and Nikki serving with personal and positives services. Kev and Aaron behind the scenes cooking great dishes. Joules the Queen of hospitality. Highly recommended.

Staff very hospitable...(a big shout out to Ayrton and Kev and the female attendant on shift this afternoon - 12/10/22). The food was equally very good...tasty and value for money...all youd want from a good pub meal. Highly recommended! As I was visiting from London, was glad to see they have Beavertown on tap too! First time here but would love to come again!!

Came down on holiday last year the food was brilliant i gave a 5 star rating well a lot has changed in a year ordered an XLMixed Grill as my partner had been waiting all year to have this again as he loved it well it came out stone cold missing an 8oz gammon steak instead had two pieces of streaky bacon no grilled tomatoes large chips where just a handful very disappointed XL Hunters chicken came out stone could sent it back re-cooked it came back as a normal size hunters chicken the XL bacon and cheeses burger was stone cold not nice at all we ordered our food the friends we were with where to places behind us in the queue never asked for our meals to come out together but the kitchen took it on themselves to do this so our food was cooked and left to get cold while we waited for our friends food to be cooked so they had lovely hot food when asked if we enjoyed our meals we said yeah to the lady that came to collect the plates as it wasn’t her fault the meal was half the size of last year and was stone cold. Very very disappointing all round.

Had lunch on the Monday. Lovely place great staff. Disappointed couldnt go for breakfast on the Friday turned up at 10 and they didnt open till 12 but website said open at 8

Only popped in for a quick drink on our way back to our campsite and to investigate the food menu. Middle of afternoon, was told that their fryer was broken anyway.Asked for a glass of their cheapest white wine but they never had any.Edit: Following the owners response. If it was, as you claim an up sell, then it was an up sell by deception. A glass of white El Mazo was asked for and I was told that there was not any.

Wise to book a table as they get very busy due to their good quality reasonably priced meals we had the hunters chicken and the southern fried chicken burger . Well worth a visit .

Great customer service. So Friendly and attentive. Made sure we had everything and checked to make sure we were enjoying our food. Was absolutely great with my 2 year old too. The waitress Becci was amazing and had such a lovely positive attitude.Amazing food. Couldn’t fault it, would 100% come again.The selection of drinks were amazing. Took me a while to choose a gin there was just so many I wanted.

Very nice atmosphere.A warm welcome from Ashley, nothing was to much for him.The food was delicious, especially the mac & cheese. Great portion sizes too!Also have taken my dog here and she definitely approved of her doggie meal.

Came here for a visit at the weekend and I can not fault the place!Sue was incredibly helpful and chatty and had all the time for us! Harry was quick to deliver our food and it was piping hot! We had the steak pie and XL American burger and even went back for puddings after Justine convinced us we had more room. You should be proud of the staff as they were all working extremely hard and super happy! Lots of banter at the Waterside and would highly recommend a visit if youre in the area 😍

First time coming here, the food was fantastic thank you to the kev and Ellie the chefs and thank you for ellies friendly service. Justin the bar staff was very friendly and all of the staff are very accommodating, my dog loved her sausage and mash.

Booked for 1.45 and by time we arrived there was no Sunday lunch avaliable, only chicken fillets. We ordered the Ribeye steak which was delicious. Staff were friendly and place was clean.

Excellent staff and excellent food every time I’ve been here. Justine always bubbly and full of life. Charlene consistently providing excellent service with a smile and personality. Nikki always smiling with a great attitude and people skills. AJ always efficient and happy to go the extra mile. Harry the Whippet on red bull never tires of running around the pub delivering top quality food and service. Ellie the little bullet never stops, great people skills and a fantastic server. Ash (The Ginger Experiencealways happy to help and accommodate with real personality. Becki behind the bar is always happy, smiling and provides top service. Keep up the hard work team, you’re absolutely smashing it

Had the best meal here, food was brilliant, Ellie and Ash foh were amazing.. I believe the chefs were called Dean and kev. Shout to them. My steak was cooked to perfection 🥰

Could fit us in for a last minute booking which was great. Also dog friendly, ticks another box! Husband really enjoyed his burger. But we had to wait a while for the food (wasnt overly busy with customersAdult food was brought out before out toddlers, which we requested to come first. Also my steak was requested gluten free and should have come with jacket potato. They served with chips which werent gluten free though. Were quick to change when we finally got their attention though. Steak also wasnt great, was very well done which took a lot of the flavour out of it. Sure if I told them they would have rectified but it was taking so long to get service I didnt bother telling and just took it back for the dog. Staff were preoccupied due to a fire walking charity event (great btwbut did affect staffing and service. Wouldnt return unfortunately.

Me and my partner came in and was greeted by a very grumpy and unfriendly lady, she came across like she didnt want to be there and was not welcoming to us at all, this already had upset me and my partner as we was hoping for a lovely meal considering it was the last night of our holiday here. She then seated us at a table that had clearly not been wiped!!! I also felt when was there we was being rushed to get out after eating our food. The same lady who greeted us at the host desk was also very rude when we was seated. I suggest she finds a new profession as she should not be working with customers with her attitude, IT STINKS! I believe her name was Justine as I heard another member of staff say it! Im not the one to usually name and shame but this was honestly one of the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant!

JUSTINE, came in asking for a table to eat, told we had to be with someone aged 18 at half 5???? She asked my friends age and she said she was 18. She then looked at me and said your clearly underage and when I said I had id to be 18 she was rude, laughed and didn’t believe it. When I provided my id she looked at it and then couldn’t work it out😂😂when she realised I was the age, she still spoke to my friend like I wasn’t there as if she was embarrassed and didn’t believe me. Personally, get Justine off the host desk as she really didn’t give us a warm welcome and made us angry the whole meal. Justine you are rude!

Ordered the signature steak but got the 9oz steak. Miss understanding I expect. I asked for it to me medium rare but they brought it out on a sizzle plate or hot plate so keeps cooking so well done. Then the steak knife was left on the hot plate so when I picked it up it was about 150 degrees and had to drop it before it burnt me! Not happy but beer at a good price.

Great pub that welcomes dogs with water bowls, blankets & even a menu for them which is reasonably prices. It says breakfast til 12 which came with 1egg, 2 bacon, 1 sausage, beans on plate, hasn brown, mushrooms x1 pc of toast, x1 butter, half a fresh tomato 🍅, it was a good breakfast with sauces on table so you dont have to ask for them & all Heinz makes not cheap alternatives which makes a difference to the breakfast. Not expensive, but worth a treat for yourself & your 🐶, plenty of people with dogs there & all of them very well behaved no problems with them as I thought there could of been.

Pub was OK. Needs a bit of an update. There was a queue and bit of a wait to get served with one person behind the bar serving, lots of other staff buzzing about with food orders etc. Outside area was OK tables need updating as some had screw tips showing through. Which you could easily cut your hand on. On the whole 3 stars with a little work could easily be 4. Didnt eat here no reason for that tho. Food coming out from the kitchen looked very good. Girls played with the tiny stones round flower borders and made pics, see pics.

Here on holiday so we booked in for food after passing by after popping in the co-op, booked for 6 people and the food was perfect as well as the staff, service and everything else! Good beer, great food and puddings and the staff were amazing!

Some friends and I went for a spot lunch. Theyre a dog friendly pub but the food there could have been better. I ordered a blue steak, and it came out medium.

Good food. Good atmosphere. Entertaining musicDog friendly. Even though I dont have a dog. It was good to see a doggie menu and well behaved dogs.We sat in the area dogs were able to go in .Although there were plenty of other seating areas . Will definitely be popping back again soon.

What a brilliant place! Was there last Thursday and we were one of those nightmare tables with kids amd awkward requests. Charlie and the team really looked after us. Food was delicious and the service was friendly and welcoming. Even went back Saturday morning for breakfast before the long drive home. It was all freshly made and our dog ted was looked after too

Beautiful food, extensive drinks range. Sadly they are very understaffed, meaning the staff are running around like headless chickens. We pre booked a table for 16, which had been split into 3 tables next to each other when we got there, absolutely fine. We were told when ordering food there was an 120minute wait on food, even though the first few people who had ordered & paid for their food from our party had not been told the same. All of our food came out more or less together, in about 40minutes. Same then happened when ordering desserts. Lovely & clean, the staff deserve a payrise, there was only 4 we could see front of house, & they were non stop.

We havent been here for years but it looked like they have made huge improvements since then. My husband had steak and ale pie and I had the hunters chicken both were excellent and served with a smile by our lovely waitress. Will definitely dine here again as we live quite close.

Saw the good reviews for the Waterside, and thought I would try their English breakfast! Thoroughly enjoyed it! 😋 A very friendly place, staff were helpful. Looking forward to eating here again soon! 👏👏

Ate here at lunch time today and can honestly say was blown away by the service! Ash the manager & team were friendly, helpful and everything you want to see when youre dining out. Will be returning for sure!

My food was really good, hubbys ok.Staff were very friendly and provided good service except for one who was a little rude, he made us feel like we needed to eat and go. The ladies and bar staff were lovely.Only had a choice of 2 puddings!!! Not good enough for a chain pub.

Well the place was quite full at 6pm so I suppose Im not on trend when I say I didnt like it much. On the plus side the staff seemed friendly enough and the food was quite cheap. On the down side you had to queue for ages to order your food and drinks and then when the food arrived it was rather average.

Popped in for Sunday evening drinks. Just missed the Euros crowd so quieter than usual. Staff as friendly and welcoming as ever despite what had been a hectic time. Great place for food or just a drink.

Food was nice , order by the app wait around 30 minutes but the drinks we had to ask to a staff member where was our drinks . Apparently the drinks need to be order on the balcony ( not on the app .But no one tell me the drinks need to be order separately from the food . I have paid everything through the app .....I really apologise from my little girl was crying and make some noise, but she is a little 3 years old girl.I didnt like the way the staff member was talking about this little issue. I asked him if he want he go outside for not disturb the customers inside .So just because of that I give 1 ⭐️.The food was excellent 👌

Went to Waterside Inn on 26th July was lovely. Staff and food was excellent. Tonight we decided to go back 31st July. The staff especially Justine, Ash and Nicky went above and beyond to make our evening the best experience. Thank you so much everyone. We will be back as soon as we can get back to Devon xxx

Went here as recommended by some locals for breakfast on way home from lovely holiday. Visited yesterday mid morning and greeted by an excellent waiter who showed us to our table. Food is well priced and the breakfast was great. Partner had pancakes which were delicious our little one had childrens full English which was excellent and I had bacon bap and the bacon was amazing. I can only comment on the breakfast but imagine the rest of the food is great too. Staff were friendly and excellent customer service. Wish I could remember the guys name who served us as he was excellent. Clean toilets. Overall will definitely return when back here on holiday.

Ash (the assistant managermanaged to squeeze us in, which was very lovely of him.One person serving behind the bar (a nice very bubbly, talkative ladybut a queue was forming.The manager took my order (due to being busy & sold out on quite a few things part of my order had to be anendedNor did the establishment have the wine requested so had to choose an alternative for this also.Food was nice and served before the anticipated wait time, staff were attentive - was asked several times by several members of staff if food was ok.A bit of conductive criticism the Manager needs to physically relax and smile more (tone of voice will change also thenwhen taking food orders - and wherever possible offer a free sauce or side if an order can not be fulfilled.On arrival there were quite a few empty tables - all reserved - but in the time we were there no one had turned up, those tables could have been in use instead of turning away customers with a time limit explained. I know it can be done as I was head of house to a very busy restaurant before moving on.Will eat there again when in the area as I said the food was nice.

Always helpful Especially the younger girl I think her name is Gemma maybe, she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and always service with a smile. Such a lovely place always happy to eat/drink here

Came here whilst on holiday. Cannot fault the staff at all! So welcoming and they cannot do enough for you. They were fabulous 💞Pub was clean tidy and bright . Food was great and came quick ! Looking forward to our next visit soon!

Excellent dog friendly pub, friendly helpful staff and good food. My wife and I shared a triple steak challenge and the steaks were done perfectly. Well recommended

Beef burgers were dry and overdone. Also it was missing bacon and the “burnt beef ends”Chips weren’t hotOnion rings were soggyOne member of staff was rude and when I was asked how my meal was, I explained that the burger was missing bacon, she then pointed to an onion ring that was sticking out of my burger and said “is that not bacon there?” almost in a challenging and defensive manner which made me feel like she thought I was lying (What happened to ‘the customer is always right?’Once I had tore open my burger to prove there was no bacon she then went off into the kitchen to bring out 2 freshly microwaved soggy rashers and insisted on “popping” them into my burger for me.The missing items were blamed on the chef being new to the establishment.It is also worth noting that whilst we was in the waterside inn a group of 16-17 year old boys arrived, causing no trouble and weren’t loud at all, the certain member of staff was very rude to them with such an attitude and if she had spoken this way to a group of adults they would have been disgustedDisappointed with the food and experience and probably won’t be returning. It’s a shame as they have a great menu but the quality just isn’t there

Excellent big local pub, with vast menu including vegan options including, vegan fish and chips, mushroom pie. Great entertainment including the very popular Vinyl Avengers outside every Sunday through the summer for Sunday Soul at the Waterside. You will sure have a fab time dancing outside.

Absolute Gem of a Pub... Had a recent holiday and The Waterside Inn was literally on our doorstep, so obviously ventured inside for a pint. Instantly greeted by enthusiastic and happy staff. Couldnt be more helpful, we have 3 dogs and they were welcomed just as warmly as we were. This fast became our go to pub for the week with the drinks, service and food second to none. Exceptional staff and made our holiday that much better. Quiz night was a proper laugh and my wife won Booze Bingo and got 90 seconds behind the bar.. Well done to Jules and her team Ayrton, Emily, Gemma and Carl to name a few for making The Waterside Inn such a fantastic place. See you all when we are down again.

This place not only had good value food but excellent service from everyone in the establishment.I nearly always comment if I am not pleased with the service or food (being an ex caterer), but the recruitment and training is excellent here !Congratulations to everyone .Any similar places around or in London please ?

Tried booking on Sunday 12th June phoned and was told they had told me they had no gas, so was only things that could be cooked with electric, so basically what could be cooked in microwave. So tried again today 14th June, when I phoned asked if gas was working and was told yes, so booked a table. When we arrived was greeted with all the menu items not available surf and turf xl, lots of other and to finish off, we have no chips, how can you have no chips, when most meals come with chips. We read all the reviews and thought it sounded a really good place, well its not really if you havent now got half the menu and no chips.

Really impressed by the staff on my last visit. All clearly working hard to give good customer service. Food was a good standard and it was nice to see the place as busy as it used to be.This pub has several different seating areas both indoors and out and offers great value for money.

Had a fantastic night here, the food was amazing and the service from Justine and Charlie at the bar was first class. The other two members of staff running food were equally great, both so busy but still had a smile and took the time to check how things were. Would highly recommend this place 10 out of 10

Came whilst on holiday. 2nd time here this week. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff ( didn’t manage to get names of staff from 1st visit but did on 2nd Ayrton and Emma ), great food with even better prices. The Flaming Challenges menu selection is a must, cant say I’ve found anywhere before with that amount of food for such a good value, add in the fact you get an extra 25% off them on a Friday its an absolute winner. Will definitely be returning when we come this way again.

Absolutely shocking. Waiting 25 minuets after ordering via the app. We went to go in to ask about our drinks and they had be sat there for the whole entire 25 minuets.Young rude lazy staff.We actually took our drinks out to our own table in the end. Warm beer by then and a cocktail that was on the menu and app but the waitress didnt know what it was therefore was made poor.
