Luang Prabang, Laos, Louangphrabang
Built in the 18th century, the city's largest monastery houses gold Buddha statues & wood carvings.
Very interesting and beautiful temple, with a beautiful interior design and multiple Buddha statues and a very special golden wall design. The ticket inside costs 20k for adults and the children are free. We came around 12:30 and the place was all to ourselves. There are no signs in English though and while there are some ancient structures outside, we were not able to figure out what they are :(This temple can be combined with the morning markets visit, the viewpoint or the palace museum. Also, there are multiple tuktuks waiting outside, so you dont need to worry about transportation.
Good to see
Nicenppqce for relaxing and wwlkingnin the morning and evening
A gorgeous temple worth seeing and a true testament to the Laotian architecture. The walls are covered in gold and Buddha images are abundant. Definitely worth seeing while in Luang Prabang.
Beautiful temple with a great golden Pagoda
Buddhism started in Indian to hindu king siddhartha rajput and it a great hindu king
Wat Mai SuwannaphumahamThis is one of the grandest and most impressive temples in Luang Prabang. Built in 1788 having taken 70 years to complete, it housed the golden Pra Bang Buddha palladium of Luang Prabang between 1894 and 1947. Wat Mai means “New Monastery” and it was here that the Pra Sangkharat, the highest Buddhist dignitary in Laos, resided from 1894. Restoration took place in 1821 during the reign of King Manthatourat (1817-36). During New Year celebrations the Pra Bang Buddha statue is brought from the Royal Palace (National Museumto Wat Mai for its annual three day ritual cleansing.
pretty!
One of the most important temples in Luang Phrabang, where the ceremony of cleansing the Prabang Buddha is happening in every April. Not so old building, but still spectacular with its detailed carvings and golden surfaces. Entrace fee is 10k kip.
Nice temple at the foot of Mount Phousi and across the road from my guest house. There are two main buildings and this time the older hall was being used, which Id never seen on previous trips. Their lantern display was also pretty good.
One of the most interesting Wat in Luangprabang, famous to host the Phra Bang Buddha during Lao New Year and for it murals about Vessantara story (from the Jataka tales)
Typical Temple. But not sure why they are collecting 10,000KIP for entrance fee. I suppose most tourist dont make donation at the temple. Hopefully the money they collected stays at the temple and not go into other pockets.
New monastery and next to earlier Palace, now museum. Real Buddha soul omnipresent.
The decorative work is visually interesting. This Wat is culturally important. The associated monastery was the home of the much revered Pha Sangkarat. There is a gilded depiction of the Phra Lak Phra Lam epic (the Laotian version of the Indian Ramayanain the front portico.
Gorgeous and full of historical details. You need a good local guide to tell you the story, then you will enjoy it. Good spot for taking cultural photos.
Not big but worth the 10.000kip entrance fee
One of main temples in this area. Nice to look around (Im atheist but its still ok to look around)
10,000 KIP entry fee. The gold coloured wall carvings is quite unique here. I like the buddhist quotes scattered around the temple compounds.
It is a small temple. If you have time is worth it to visit all temples around the city. It will take you one morning
Nice
Nice temple, and within easy walk of most hotels. The morning market starts behind, while the night tourist market runs across the front, 10000 kip for an entry ticket, but lots of things to see and take photos of within a small compound. After the visit, you can head to the Royal Museum next door, or Mount Phousi across the road.Do also check out the small library across.
So beatiful and so old antique temple need to pay 10,000 kips for entrance I like this temple very nice to visit 😊🖒
Large prayer hall of the temple complex. A nominal fee to enter- get the ticket at the entrance gate. Impressive golden Buddah but also notice the many smaller Buddahs, including a beautiful green (jade copy?statue
Beautiful!
Beautiful temple with a great golden Pagoda
Historic temple and monastery on the main road
I found fresh sticky rice in leo mouth.
Magic!!
An beautifully decorated Buddhist temple. 10,000kip entrance fee.
Very nice temple.
Nice smaller temple to walk around and explore hidden treasures. The staff or guards are all very nice.
Good.
10000 for entrance fee. Nothing much that you cant see from outside.
A quick trip through to see gold Buddha statues. Several monks around he premises.
Doesnt look like much outside but inside have some very nice Buddha statues. 10k Kip entry fee

Lao across the country then come devoutly sprinkle water the sacred statue, symbol of Laos, by their vows.Exceptional roof with 5 floors. Perpendicular porch, veranda porch entrance wall completely carved scenes from the Jataka Vesantara (1968covered with gold leaf.
Great place to meet and interact with monks. The entrance of 10k Kip is in my opinion justified. Ive got a private tour by a monk 👍🏼
Peaceful place! Entry fee 10,000kip
