Ive eaten at great places all over the world and this place is right up near the top for a fantastic meal, from the starter salad to the desert it was really pretty amazing!

We had a most delicious meal at Wassweiler. Everything was delicious.

Great atmosphere but unfortunately the main dish (NY Stripwas very unpleasant. We ordered the Brussels, French onion soup, NY Strip and the Terras Major. Everything was great ( French Onion soup was amazinguntil we got to our steak. They were the chewiest steaks we have ever eaten. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought I was eating a round steak. The server was unattentive, we had to request refills for our drinks to include water. Not sure if we will return or not

Best meal I’ve had in Helena. The bone in rib-eye was amazing, and enough for both of us, however I was turned off by their $20 split plate fee to share the entree. You have to try the candied bacon! Twice baked potato was the best I’ve ever had. Finished off with crème brûlée, delicious with nice amount of orange zest in it. Highly recommend this place.

We sat on the patio and it was lovely. As it started to cool down they provided lap blankets and overhead heating. The food was very good and plentiful. My individual price reflects appetizer, salad, entree, desert and 2 drinks. So you can have an expansive special occasion meal here or a casual bite. I will definitely go back.

My wife and I just enjoyed a fabulous dining experience at the Wassweiler. Every course was delicious and beautifully plated! Our server - Christie - was exceptional and really made the evening special. The timing of the meal was also perfect and we enjoyed each course and nothing felt rushed. The Wassweiler is a true gem in Helena - I highly recommend a visit if you are looking for a fine dining option! Thanks to all the staff for a truly memorable meal and evening!!

My husband and I had dinner here for our anniversary and it was excellent! The atmosphere was great and the food was some of the best weve had. Highly recommend for special events!

We absolutely love The Wassweiler! The ambience is fantastic wether you are dining inside or outside on the lovely back patio. The food is fantastic and the staff is lovely. Their Gift Shop is well done. We love supporting a Montana Family Business! We will be back again and again!!

First, the patio at this place puts it in the running for the best ambience in town. Top three at least. So they get a star for that. But all pleasantries end there.Wassweiler is at the top end of what you can spend for dinner in Helena. But the quality and experience you get isnt worth half the price.Lets start basic: water. Clearly someone was so impressed by the Flensburger beer bottles that they decided to reuse them for water and forgot all about functionality. Each water bottle is enough to fill one persons glass. This means that there will always be somebody thirsty at the table because the water is out, the table space will be overcrowded with empty bottles, and the waitstaff will have to either ignore the problem or constantly be running just to get water.Then lets move to the accuracy of what you get: The beer listed on the menu was Ayinger doppelbock (they dont make one, check their website). What came was Andechs DARK doppelbock. So both the brewery and the type of beer were incorrect. You want the bread that is listed with your mussels to dip in the sauce? Be ready to press them for it (this happened at our table and the next one).Quality of the food: actually you may not want that bread...the mussels broth is so salty that you wont be able to eat the bread once it dunked in, ruining the point of a classic dish. $10 Caesar salad? Pathetic, small, unflavorful. I wont go in the redone windbag because the food looks so bad, but I imagine that anyone would be happier with the $4.29 side Caesar salad there than this one. It is probably bigger too. Ever seen a lifelong beef-eater not finish a relatively small steak? Come here with one if you want to witness it! I dont know what was wrong as I didnt try it, but something must have been. Would you care for a melange of both mushy and under cooked vegetables in the blandest peanut satay sauce ever? This is the place to find it.My unprofessional evaluation is that the place is too far gone to fix. We can only hope that they go out of business soon and that something new comes to prepare good food that we can enjoy on that patio. Until then, save yourself some money and eat basically anywhere else in town.

Fine dining with a great menu. Allergen aware. My second visit and although somewhat expensive, we will be back.

Will definitely be back on my next trip through! Wonderful service and even the patio area had a great atmosphere. Food was spectacular with great portions sizes and every bite leaves you wanting more.

Beautiful wait staff, beautiful setting. Historical vibes in that many have dined in this house before. Food served with care and artistry.

The chef knows what theyre doing, always delicious if you want a fancy night out on the pricier side.

We were served some mussels that smelled and tasted rancid. Steak was undercooked and generally underwhelming. Hard pass on the whole odreal.

The food and waitress were fantastic but the manager was incredibly rude so I left. She “shushed” me for speaking too loud on my cell phone. I’m a business owner and an older adult. I won’t be shushed like a child. My voice is deep and can carry, but I was not rude, belligerent or overtly loud.I just won’t be treated like that while I’m spending good money.I’ll never go back.

Dinner was fantastic and service exceptional! Was taken here for my Bday dinner and was NOT disappointed! Appetizers were exceptional, the candied bacon is a must try. My Bacon wrapped Filet arrived perfectly prepared and my partner stated his Bison steak was exceptional as well. Others in our party ordered the Salmon, Seafood Pasta and a Chicken dish. Everyone was beyond pleased with their fare. For dessert we shared the flour less Chocolate Torte and the Creme Brulee. My only minor complaint was the bed of potatoes my Filet arrived on. Extremely bland, lacking any flavor, however this should NOT be a deterrent when making a reservation! 5 out of 5 Stars for me!

Terrific... Service was wonderful, I didnt get the beer I ordered... They subbed one of my absolute favorite German beers that wasnt on the menu.... Everything was great including our server.

It was really good , you have to be prepared to pay higher prices but if its a special occasion its nice.

It was our first time dining there, the food was awesome, I had steak and the wife had seafood!! The appetizer was delicious as was both our plates!! The waitress was amazing too!! We will be back to try something different!!

The entire experience was absolutely fantastic. The starter (shrimp cocktailand salads were fresh and delicious. The meats (Filet Mignon and Teres Majorwere cooked to perfection, sides were delicious and all were elegantly and attentively served. High end restaurants in Las Vegas have nothing on this place!Had the pleasure of visiting with the owner inside the small mercantile store located alongside the restaurant. The display was reminiscent of what you might expect to see in one of the seasonal Hallmark holiday movies. After a few minutes of chatting, it was easy to see (and understandwhy everything was simply perfection.Highly recommend! (Understatement of the year).

Knew it was going to be expensive, so expected excellence. Did not get it. It was an hour and 20 minutes before we got our salads and bread. Not enough dressing on salad, though it was good. Put some of the oil and vinegar for the bread on the salad. Tons of wine by the bottle, but only a few by the glass and not much range. No one was ordering wines by the bottle. My red wine was cold, my husbands beer was warm. My rib eye ($74was over cooked, potato and asparagus was cold, husbands salmon was dry with very minimal sides. Server was very friendly. Menu on line was not was available. Info on their website is NOT up-to-date. We wont be there again.

The Wassweiler is a Helena treasure. The building and property have a rich history dating back to the gold rush days, and the owners have kept all the ambience and beauty intact.The food is excellent and very gormet. I recommend trying the candied bacon as an appetizer and the bison if you love steak.Their fish entrees are always superb and thier salads are to die for.

Meal was good. Not great. I would give it 3.5 stars. Overpriced & overrated. Both our steaks came out barely warm. They were cooked correctly, just must have sat a bit. $125 for 2 people, $150 with tip was a bit much for 1 beer, 1 appetizer, 2 meals, & 1 dessert. Wont go back for that price. Disappointed.

Great location and atmosphere. Food was good though my steak while ordered medium rare was well into the medium range and lacked salt, Im not someone who generally needs much salt on anything but this steak was seemingly devoid of any sodium. The service was decent even if there werent many smiles. The one very frustrating aspect of our dinner was that it was 2.5 hours from the time we were seated to the time we got the check. The time between when the appetizers showed up and our entrées arrived was easily and hour. All the ingredients for a great experience are there they just really need to up their service game.

Delicious all around. Good flavor in all dishes. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was perfect. We will definitely go back when we craving a great dinner.

What a fantastic location to celebrate our anniversary. The weather was beautiful so we ate on the patio and it was perfect! SO pleasant! The food is amazingly delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. Extensive wine list.We will go back to just have a plate of appetizers and wine on their patio.

Great atmosphere, great servers, however; whomever cooked our steaks tonight charred dang near everything on the steak. My buddy paid $70 for a ribeye that was burnt, the bone itself was also burnt. My New York was burnt, the fat wasn’t melted, just hard. Not worth the 115$ we paid for our 2 steaks. I’ll be staying with going to Bella Roma for a nice dinner in town.Real shame, too. The atmosphere and staff are lovely.

We are so lucky to have such an amazing place to eat in Helena! We have NEVER been disappointed in anything we have ordered. We asked our 16 year old if he wanted to have a Valentines dinner with us and he said where, when we told him Wassweiler he said, "You dont even have to ask".

Amazing food, very involved and caring owner, amazing waitresses, consistent results.My Fiancé and I have come to the restaurant many times this year, and have celebrated some big moments here. We had our dinner the night of our engagement, and also the night before I left for my extended military service.Kristin is always amazing as a waitress and is very polite and knowledgeable, along with having a good personality.Marci the owner is personally involved in making sure that her customers are very well taken care of, and makes sure that you leave with a smile on your face.Both the meals and experience are remarkable, and will continue to delight all of its guests.Top restaurant in Helena by far.

I am not sure if we went on the wrong day or it was just off, but I don’t agree with any of these reviews. We were seated quickly but then it all went down from there. When my friend went to the bathroom, I asked the waitress if they did anything for birthdays. The waitress rolled her eyes and said if you buy desert, I can put a candle it in. I was thinking I don’t want to put you out never mind. She did however ask the people behind us if they were celebrating anything special it was a birthday she said happy birthday but nothing to my friend. I guess two guys can’t celebrate anything special together.Next came the wine which was okay.We ordered the mushrooms and the “thick” cut candied bacon. The bacon was not thick at all it’s normal bacon. They said it was one thing on the menu, but you got something else. The apps took forever to come out and no one seemed to care. They said nothing about it.We both ordered the Bison which had no flavor and we had to chew and chew and chew to get the stuff down, not my ideal of an upscale meal. Whatever it came on was supposed to have blackberry’s, but they must have run out because you just got some nasty chunks of sweet potato and onions.We waited so long to get food that we skipped desert what a waste of time and money. It seems they think they are too big and they don’t have to try anymore. If this is the best place in town I hate to see what the worst place was.I would not recommend this place it’s not worth the money.

Came here for my partners birthday and the food was amazing. The citrus salad with pecans and fruit could eat that everyday, the duck was cooked to perfection!

Server was friendly and attentive. Love their homemade balsamic reduction and was pleased to find out they sell on site. I had the sweet potato satay. While a little on the heavy side, the portion was large and flavors were wonderful.

Had the bison steak was amazing. Great wine from France.

What an excellent restaurant. The building and grounds are beautiful. The food is exemplary, and current in its presentation. The staff is relaxed and friendly. And, each time we’ve been, the owner herself has stopped by the table just to see how the evening is going.They have both the interior restaurant, and a relaxed patio. If you’re seeking a fine dining experience, without the attitude that goes with this in too many big cities, the Wassweiler is a great choice.

My fiance and I came in without a reservation and also had our dog with us. It was very busy with all the outdoor seating filled. One of the ladies I believe to be the owner took us to the front and made up a place to eat with no questions which allowed us to accommodate having our dog. This is my 3rd time here and I have always received amazing service and the food is superb.

I dont give a lot of restaurant recommendations. This place exceeded my expectations. I went here with my wife for our anniversary and was frankly expecting an overpriced meal where they try way too hard to make a bunch of weird dishes that I wouldnt be able to pronounce.We ate on the patio during a rain storm. The waitress was excellent, very polite, and accommodating. The atmosphere was nice, small, intimate.The meal was absolutely amazing. Bar none the best meal Ive had. Possibly ever. The steaks were cooked perfect. So much flavor on everything. It was truly exceptional. If I could critisize anything it would be the twice baked potato. It was great but in comparison to everything else it was just great.All in all, both my wife and I were thoroughly impressed and have already made plans to return. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Food was DELICIOUS. I am sad I have waited so long to dine here. The mushroom appetizer was amazing as was the sweet potato satay and the duck. The duck was cooked perfectly. Service was excellent. The only thing I would have liked is a cocktail menu. I prefer those over wine/beer but that is just personal preference. We will definitely be back!

The food was amazing! The bruschetta was the best! The carrot gnocchi and salmon will be high on our list to have again soon! The venue is cozy and perfect for a romantic dinner!! Great way to welcome the New year!!

The most amazing place weve ever been, the amount of love the owner has compelling! The food is so good you dont want to finish because its truly that good! The atmosphere is classy , relaxing, and welcoming! Boy if you have not gone you truly are missing a piece of heaven I highly recommend Wasseweilers!!!!

Great Atmosphere with a friendly staff. I had the NY Strip, which was cooked as requested but a touch dry for medium rare. The scalloped potatoes that car with it was perfect and tasty. My wife got the flat iron steak and said it was the best meal shes had when dining out in a long time. For me, given the price dropped it to 4 🌟 because I expect a little more when paying $120 for 2 people.

Meal was great... only thing I would comment is that my entree side was more delicious than the entree itself. Compliments to our server Sam she was great and engaging, would come back often however travel distance might limit the number of visits!

Everything involved with this dinner was superb. The location is amazing, the ambiance was intimate and humble with the perfect touch of elegance. The seating was comfortable. The cloth table set and other place settings is what you would expect from a 5 start big city restaurant. Our server struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, absence, and light conversation that added to the overall spectacular experience. The star of the evening was our entrees. To the staff, chefs, and everyone else involved, our pair of Bison Top Sirloin was absolutely astounding. Coupled with the sweet potatoes and other assortment of vegetables, the perfect blend of taste was achieved.Thank you.

We had a NY Strip and their special of the evening which was pork tenderloin (picture taken without the flashand both meals were fantastic. We also had the brie appetizer and we both loved that as well. The service was great and the atmosphere is very nice. There is patio seating if you want pub food but I recommend having the nice dinner inside. Its so worth it! Highly recommended.

The food is amazing. Pictured is the Salmon and Duck entrees. We also had the berry cobbler and bruschetta. The food was some of the best I have had and portioned well. This is the best fine dining in Helena. Besides the food, the venue is a classic old building nicely refinished with high ceilings.

Superb dining at its best. Excellent customer service (thanks Samand a warm ambience that will make your experience most enjoyable. Great selection of wine (and beerto pair with a very well cooked meal that will please your palate. I dont think you will be disappointed. We enjoyed a seafood pasta and a chicken breast.

Very delicious dinner. Definitely make reservations prior to coming. Beautiful old inn with lovely decor. Service was impeccable! The boyfriend and I got the pork chop and bacon wrapped filet. For appetizers, we got the brie and for dessert we got the creme brulee. We have never been so full and happy! Highly recommend this place and we will be back.
