Limmatquai 31, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland, Herisau
Venerable 13th-century church & crypt with a storied past offering worship services & free entry.
Good to visit in the city
Schöne Kirche direkt an der Limmat.
Recommend this place
This church was built in 10th century and is situated between the Grossmünster and the Fraumünster, on an island between Limmat river. Later in 1839, the island is connected with the bank of river. The church serves as a library between 1634 to 1917.
Weihnachtskrippe: Sehr angenehm, freundlich
Nice place to go.
Good place to work, in way u rent the church for office :as contexta did so
This is the oldest church in Zurich. It is not very large and is currently used for a variety of events. Next to the river, hence its name.
The ancient heart of this city. Much more interesting than the church is the holy pagan stone in the crypt underneath. You can visit it. Its a ritual site from when Switzerland was not christian or even celtic yet. Back when our forebears had no god and worhsipped the river, spirits and nature in general. I can recommend Kurt Derungs books on Zürich, if you are interested in this.
Very special "must see"once in Zürich
Nice view
Väga hea akustikaga võrratu kontserdipaik
É muito bonito.Tem bom espaço para passear a pé.
Nice place to visit and to learn a lot about Zurich history. I didnt see it but I was told that there is very old water spring underneath the building. Long ago building was kind of harbour part
A historical reformist church by the river, and a important landmark of Zurich. Simply but well decorated to reflect the reformists view of a place of worship. Highly recommended.
Zurich fastival
It is a small and simple Church. There are three nice stained glass windows. You can find the chopping block that was used by the Romans to decaptivate the citys saints Felix and Regula, in the crypt.
Highly recommend to go to the chamber
must for visiting
I attended a reading of the entire gospel of Mark. Very moving. Beautiful little church
The Wasserkirche (The Water Church or Church by the Wateris definitely a landmark in Zurich considering the role Zurich played during the Reformation at the time of the Great Reformer Ulrich Zwingli. Its location is incredible, right by the river Limmat. The building is relatively small and the interior is simple with three large stained glass windows in the back of the altar. It also has a very nice organ. Considering the fact that the first building on this site was erected on the 10th Century, a visit is a must!
Beautiful in the night
Landmark of Zurich (Old church since 13th Century)
Zurich
Historic church and area. A must for a tourist. Here you can take one ofe the best and most charachteristic fotos from Zurique. Great for walking and bike. You have a lot of Tram connections too.
美麗, convenient with train
Absolut Sehenswerte Ausgrabung (in der Kirche 1 Stock tiefer. Zürich vor 2000 Jahren, echt)
We tried three times to visit - it has limited opening hours, so check before you go - but were glad we persisted. This building has a fascinating history and a lot to see, including a crypt with original foundation stones, the "execution stone", and some information about the many years the building was not a church. No entrance fee, and theres a bathroom available. Put it on your list.
