Warner Valley Dinosaur Track Site - Tourist attraction in Saint George, United States
Amazing scenic drive and fascinating tracks! Keep in mind:- the 9 mile section of dirt road is impassable in rainy or winter weather. We managed in our small rental car but there were some soft sandy spots and deeper ruts where the road was washed out.- the tracks are a short walk from the parking area. However, it’s not paved or wheelchair accessible.- the tracks are marked on the informational sign, but many of them were covered with sand. You’ll pass some other cools spots on your way there including the Boneyard and Fort Pearce. Really fun exploring!
Easy walk from the parking lot. You can touch the dinosaur tracks.
Went last year based off of ratings. After driving about 15 minutes down a very rocky road, we arrived to a very small parking lot. Not very many "impressive" tracks. It was 120° that day and there was no shade or restrooms. Not recommended for super hot days and for vehicles that arent meant for off roading. Coolest thing we found was a dinosaur shaped rock on the way up.
Interesting site with easy walking to see the prints. However, drive in is all gravel roads, so take precautions. The area is covered with some large tracks and many small ones. Good place for families with small kids and a good place to paint the landscape!
One of the best Dinosaur tracks footprints locations I have witnessed. It is hard to locate and drive out to. Short hike from the trailhead parking lot. Absolutely stunning scenery all around...
5-21-2022 Really nice place! Cool dinosaur tracks to look at. Good information and history board. You can actually find and see the tracks. Cool! Best to drive Warner valley road with a utv, or truck that can handle dirt roads. Worth the stop, if your in the area. Or want to go for a drive from Sand Hollow area.
After driving 8 miles on a semi-washboard road you end up in a little parking pen. Walk about 5 min with a slight hill and here tou will see some dinosaur foot prints. Majority are tiny, but several larger ones maybe 12 inches across? There is a sign with the foot print information. Sadly when walking around very recent petroglyphs (People carving into walls). But the view at the top of the hill is amazing, looks like you are in a western movie setting.
30+ minute drive from St. George. Dirt road, but our van did fine. Beautiful scenery. Small parking lot, but it was not busy. The dinosaur tracks are not marked at all, but easy to find. Fun little hike down a dry riverbed. Good for young kids. No structures or bathrooms. There is informational signage to give some education on the area and the dinosaurs that made the tracks.
The road to get out here is very rugged. Don’t attempt in a Prius, Tesla, or anything made in Great Britain. Spotty cell coverage if you get a flat or need to report a crime. The hike is easy enough. But by the time you’re there everyone in your party will be in a bad mood and wish they hadn’t come. There’s better dinosaur sites in Utah than this one. I suggest spending your time at Sand Hollow, Zion, or really anywhere else.
There are dinasour tracks from several different dinasours. The placard does a good job of showing where to look and once you get started you can see the different tracks relatively easily
My kids loved it. We rode our dirt bikes here which made it even better.
it’s a nice walk even though it’s a little far out there. the dinosaur tracks are cool to see and the views are fantastic.
After a long scenic drive thru the beautiful Warner valley, park your car and take the short walk to these amazing prints!Absolutely worth visiting while your in St. George!
I took my 2 grandkids here and they really loved seeing the Dinosaur 🦕 tracks.
Very cool place to see many dinosaur tracks. It’s about 8.5 miles of rough and dirt road. We have seen many ATVs on the way. Would have been cool to rent them to explore. Would not suggest if it’s raining but a beautiful site on a bright day. We loved to explore the tracks.
Easy hike and the kids loved the tracks
4 stars ⭐️ Because that is the rating between my whole family (6 of us). The actual experience, the view, and the tracks are so worth it!! My family was worried because there is no actual address…but once you get to Warner Valley Rd you follow the dirt/rocky (more rocky than dirtfor about 8 miles but you can’t drive too fast on the rocky road. This is when my family wanted to go back because there is no sign for miles and you are in the middle of nowhere but keep going you will eventually see the brown signs and be excited! Once we got there it’s a small hike but fun adventure. Make sure you use the bathroom before your drive and bring water there is nothing out there! Enjoy the adventure!!
Lots of great things have been shared of this Attraction so I had to come. It isn’t the most amazing Dinosaur site I’ve been to in Utah but is great if you are looking to try something new. Just a heads up there is no building this is outside and it is a self attraction so nobody will be there to explain why and what happened in that period of time. The signs posted around the mountains carry a great pack of information. Make sure to bring plenty of water and if you have a hats or sunglasses they will come in handy. Do prefer to come during the day I came around 6:00 so when leaving my here wasn’t a clear view. Have lots of fun and hope you guys learn lots!
Prepare to drive on a rocky, dirt road for 8 miles. Once you get there though, its pretty cool! I like that people respect the land and its awesome history by not disturbing it so future visitors can enjoy it just as much as past visitors.
Really cool place to see dinosaur tracks. The trail is very easy and well maintained. Lots of different sized tracks too! also look for tracks on the trail because we found a few in the rocks
Awesome place to go see. Its kinda of a long drive but the drive is fun to make. Its a short hike to make once you get to the little parking lot.
You can see the tracks pretty well. Theres a 1/4 mile walk from the parking lot. Its pretty easy until the end where you have to go down a short steep hill. Its not very big but will be intimidating for some. Of course when you leave, you have to walk up it.
A good experience but dont expect too much. Its also a ruff dirt road in for those in really low cars be aware.
It was really cool to see true dinosaur tracks from @195 million years ago. If this is something that interests you it is down gravel road in Warner valley
Gorgeous valley, and for a bonus you can see Dino tracks. There are half dozen tracks that are about a foot and a half long, and numerous smaller ones. Worth the trip after youve done some of the more spectacular things in town.
This place is great. You can definitely see the tracks, they even have a diagram to help. We arent very good at spotting them, but we could still find a bunch. WARNING: if google tries to send you in/out on a road directly south, that is NOT a road. Come in from the west! You have been warned!
The trail to the site is gratefully short but impossible for a stroller or the like. The site is well cared for with a few photo spots. We sat on a ledge near the tracks for our packed lunch. No shade or bathrooms.
There are around 400 dinosaur tracks at this site. Some are large and easy to find, and some are small and faint. A broom definitely helps to uncover tracks that get covered with dirt over time. The site is only a short walk from the parking spot and the dirt road to get the is well maintained and should be accessible to any car with normal clearance.
Quick walk. Educational. Had fun.
While a little of the beaten track, there are literally HUNDREDS of Dinosaur tracks here. They are easy to see and while a visit will probably only last less than an hour, it is well worth the trip. While a 4x4 vehicle isnt necessary, the site is about 7 miles down a fairly bumpy dirt road. I would not try it if it has been raining.Bring some butcher or parchment paper and soft leaded pebbles to make teachings of your favorite prints!
Really nice area. Not a large area to explore. Truck or SUV recommended due to dirt and sand road. There are signs up at the location.
This is one of those spots away from the crowded areas in St George. It is interesting to see the tracks but you can also visit fort pearce. The area can be used for off roading and hiking. This is a desert área so bring plenty of water if you are visiting in the summer. High clearance vehicle and 4x4 is recommended. There are some patches of sand that could trap a 2x vehicle.
Awesome place with incredible views of the red rock cliffs. The hike is pretty easy and fairly level. Its okay for kids and elderly. Not a ton of tracks but still worth the walk and drive. Find all the info about the trail there at Trailsoffroad.com
One of the best places in the area for quick access. All by itself and a short walk into a wash on a desert path. This was out of the way but the airport road and st george expansion has taken a toll on the site. People rock hunting and smashing surrounding rocks and circling tracks with stones are a downer lately. Check it out
Our van made it out fine on the dirt road. It was beautiful scenery. The footprints are a very short walk from the parking lot, easy to see, and this place is free. Go early in the morning though since there is no shade.
This was a fun little place to bring the kids. It was quite a ways out there and have to take a dirt road which can be difficult with anything but a 4-wheel drive vehicle if it has rained at all. If it has been dry then you could make it in a sedan just fine. I was surprised to see that the tracks are not protected. You can walk all over them which means over time these tracks will be damaged. If your kids like dinosaurs then they will have fun out there.
Great little hike. Beautiful view.
Most travel via motorcycle, SXS, 4 wheeler but you can take a car/truck. The short 7 minute hike from the trailhead is easy with only one little decline at the end. Have fun and be sure to look for the BIG and little tracks.
We read the reviews and were kinda surprised how easy it was to get there in a Nissa Sentra. Whoever said you need a 4 wheel drive is full of it! It’s just a dusty dirt road with lots of ATV & dirt bikes man up and go see this beautiful hidden treasure of dinosaur tracks. Google map will guide you and signs are very visible. Well worth the trek out there!
The road to get out there is a bit rough, but the hike to the tracks from the trailhead is a very short distance. It was exciting to see actual dinosaur tracks. We hiked past the track area for a bit, but there wasnt much more than pretty scenery to be found.
Fun little day trip to ride the razors out to. Pretty simple and easy to get to. It was fun picking out all the tracks around there in the small creek bed. It is a small hike down to the tracks so just make sure to wear good shoes. Seems to be a pretty well taken care of area and the tracks are well preserved. We will probably visit from time to time as this area has lots of trails and areas to ride razors, dirt bikes, and atvs
It was a long drive on a dirt road to get there. We saw several wild animals. It was a short hike from the trail head. It was great to see three different dinosaur tracks. We also saw track of animals native to the area.
Cool, but tracks are hard to find/see
Very cool place! Last rain it covered some of the tracks. Half the fun is trailing out there!
There are no bathrooms or water in the area so plan accordingly. The tracks were cool to see but there werent as many as I would have liked to see.
A fascinating place with lots of tracks, an information kiosk, and beautiful surroundings, unspoiled by development. I didnt even know this place existed until I was exploring BLM lands South of St George. The gravel and dirt road to this place is navigable in good weather (I found it in my 2wd Tundra pickup- just take the Werner Valley exit off Southern Pkwy (SR 7and head SOUTH toward Arizona. Fort Pearce is also in this area, about 2 mi away.
Beautiful hiking and biking area. Backdrop is amazing and there actually really are dinosaur Tracks here.
Smaller site than what I though, but it was amazing when you found the dinosaurs tracks. Dont come on summer time, because hot hot hot🔥
Great place to take the kids. Dinosaur tracks are a short easy walk with great views.
Fun place to hike with the kids and explore dinosaur tracks.
