Walnut Grille in Wellesley
Description
Privilege
Good main plates with fresh vegetables. Reasonable beer selection.
Been going to WG for years and only stopped going during the pandemic. Tonights appetizers and entrées were beyond delicious. Will never stop going 🤤
MoreWere from Miami and just visiting. We came across Walnut Grille and absolutely loved it! Lots of vegan and vegetarian options, fragrant and delicious! Great service, parking on site, and definitely youll walk out sated and smiling!
MoreNice local restaurant with a full page of vegan meals and a few vegetarian options. The food was good, the staff was pleasant. They seemed to do a large amout of take-out service. The juices were a huge pint glass size. I ordered the nutty tofu. Definitely worth checking out.
MoreWe ordered cauliflower Manchurian as appetizer and quesadilla as entree, these two dishes were enough for 2 people, we even had some leftovers. Portion size is good.I so liked the taste and presentation.
MoreThe food was great. Ill be back for that BBQ Seitan. My BLT sandwich was awesome and the sweet potato fries were solid too.
MoreI went in having low expectations as the menu doesn’t really have a theme, it’s a melting pot of Indian, Thai, Italian and other cuisines. Plus there wasn’t a single plant based meat option on the menu (in this age with over 500 plant meat brands in the market??).The Gobi Manchurian was exceptional, amongst the best I’ve had ever, crisp. Perfectly seasoned and flavorful without being overly spicy, sweet or sour. The other dishes were also good including the portobello steak, the nachos were gigantic and well seasoned, I would avoid the pizzas, way too much cheese abs the Thai curry was also well done. Overly nothing gourmet but all executed very well. The service is excellent and portions are huge!
MoreDefinitely one of my favorite spots to frequent if you choose to you should try some of their desserts
MoreI love everything at this restaurant. The food is very creative, tasty , and delicately presented. The staff is very nice and helpful.
MoreExcellent food and service. This is the place to go to for vegetarians and vegans
MoreAmazing experience here. Gobi Manchurian is almost impossible to find in the US, and it’s so good here. Perfect texture, wonderful sauce. A can’t-miss. The veggie lasagna is so flavorful and healthy, filled with tons of beans and veggies. We had a wonderful time, with friendly and thoughtful service. They even came out to let us know the cheese in the vegan lasgana was vegan. Appreciated that they spaces tables apart as well. Overall an easy 5/5. Would definitely recommend. Appreciate the delicious foods and fantastic environment the folks working at Walnut Grille create!
MoreSo disappointing! Were visiting Boston for the first time and were super excited about the vegan scene here and the variety of items on the menu. We took an uber to this place and the hours are listed to close at 930. We arrived about 15-20 mins before that and were told they started closing the kitchen early. Most vegan places were closing around the same time so we shouldve chanced it somewhere else. If youre going to have a business and people arent familiar with you closing shop early, at least list your hours accurately. We wasted money on two uber rides!I only gave them one star because of their menu.. otherwise they didnt deserve that either.
MorePretty good. Went here as someone who sometimes eats vegan/ vegetarian. The bbq seitan was super crispy and good. The tempeh ruben also tried real hard to taste like a Ruben, and Ill give it props there!
MoreDid someone say gluten-free vegan pizza?! Five star vegetarian and vegan cuisine with superb service and reasonable prices. Free parking lot behind the restaurant.Check the hours before you go.Absolutely worth a trip, especially if you have nothing similar in your neighborhood! Exceedingly highly recommended!
MoreAmazing food ! Lot of gluten free vegan options available. We had Gluten free vegan pizza , it was amazing. Love love love Vegan gluten free soufflé thts our favorite dessert.
MoreFinally, seitan that isnt dry! Delicious vegan fare in a relaxed, but welcoming atmosphere. You can tell that Walnut Grille makes their vegan food with care; they dont just "offer vegan options"; they invest time in making their vegan options taste just as good as any nonvegan food. This will become one of my vegan staples in the Boston area.
MoreLoved the items that we ordered. It has decent ambiance. We went for dinner and ordered Gobi Manchurian as our appetizer. It was slightly sweetish in taste but did not affect the overall taste of the appetizer. We also ordered vegetable lasagna which was quite impressive and delicious. We found tofu tikka masala to be slightly tangy.Overall- good experience! Would recommend for causal outing.
MoreI am recently gluten free and this place had so many options for me! Everything was delicious and everyone was wonderful. Thank you! :-)
MoreThis was the best quesadilla I’ve ever had in my life. Cute restaurant too!! Will definitely be coming back :)
MoreI love the Walnut Grille. The food is delicious, healthy and the portions generous. The employees are friendly and attentive. The seating is comfortable and the acoustics of the restaurant are reasonable for conversation.
MoreGenerally good food and service. Food is presented in a fancy way. Liked the tofu Tikka masala, but the rice portion that comes with it is small, so make sure you have something to eat with it. Keep in mind a good portion of the meals contain alcohol if you do not drink.
MoreDelicious food and very friendly service!
Had a wonderful dinner, from Gobi appetizer, to Vegan Marsala, finishing with vegan brownie sundae - what a meal! Friendly & fast service plus delicious food, that’s my idea of a great restaurant! We’ll be back soon for brunch!
MoreThis was my first time. Really nice server and service. The food was good, but just that. Not disappointed, but not impressed either. I had the artichoke pizza and barbecue seitan. If you ever want excellent barbecue seitan, go to the garden grill in RI. Also, the bathroom was... not clean, and this was on a Sunday, midday. Would I go again? If I was in the area and had no time to go anywhere else for a decent vegan meal, yes.
MoreGood vegan food options especially for a restaurant outside of Boston. I really liked the BBQ Seitan and the vegan BLT. We also had the falafel bowl and the power grain bowl. Both were good but not as flavorful as we expected.
MoreMy husband and I wanted an all vegan wedding menu and were so thrilled to have Siva make us such a beautiful menu that even the wariest of family members was impressed with. He worked with us to make a well balanced selection of appetizers: stuffed mushroom, root vegetable latkes, gobi manchurian, bbq seitan, a meze station, and samosas. The seitan marsala and vegan ravioli were a hit, and the truffle mashed potatoes were so creamy and delicious. The salad was fresh and crisp. He was cognizant of all allergies and double checked recipes for me to make sure everyone in the wedding would be able to enjoy safely. Pricing cannot be beat. Siva was flexible with us throughout the whole process and rolled with the punches when we had to downsize and change venues about a month out. We have been to the restaurant several times and will be back again, but we highly recommend Siva and Walnut Grille for your vegan/vegetarian catering needs.
MoreMy second time here--and this time was more fantastic than the last. Got the Tofu Tikka Masala and it rivaled the best Indian Ive had. Great brown rice, tofu had really good texture, nice side salad with it. Sauce was amazing. I could drink it by itself! Tasted my friends Seitan Marsala and that was delish too.
MoreI am so SAD that they are not open for brunch anymore, the vegan and bourbon pancakes are the best pancakes across the board!!! Perfect crispy to fluffy ratio, sweet and savory. My bf and I use to come in every Sunday morning to order them. We will miss it, nothing compares :,)
MoreIve eaten here many times but this was one of the more pleasant experiences. My wife and I had dinner with friends and both the food and conversation were excellent. I appreciate the fact that we could have a conversation in a relatively full restaurant without having to yell toward each other. The food was very good the portions were reasonable. There is plenty of free parking which is always appreciated. Our server was wearing a mask which was also a nice touch.
MoreOMG! there are no words for how good this food is. Creative, tasty, huge portions and definitely $$ friendly. I LOVED it and will be back soon. shout out to the waitstaff and kitchen who made us feel welcome with less than an hour to closing. Just super gracious.
MoreThe main attraction here is the vegan food. The flavors are very mediocre, and no dish really stands out (my personal opinion). Their main dishes are overpriced according to my standards, but they may be reasonable in Newton. Their conventional dishes (e.g. butternut squash soupare better than their fusion items. Nothing to drag me back there, but nothing to stop me from going there either. However, I have friends and family who thinks that this place is outstanding.
MoreOption to eat indoor and outdoor. Red curry was great and the hummus combo starter pictured here was excellent.
MoreWonderful vegan and GF options. Tried the vegan gf grilled cheese which was very good. next time Im going to ask for tomato in it. yum! also got the butternut squash soup also very good. my husband got the red Thai curry which he thought was very flavorful and perfect amount of zing. i got the Buddha bowl which was very tasty. we took dessert to go. the vegan gf strawberry cheesecake was excellent. hubby got the carrot cake which he really liked. The woman working was very nice and encourage ys ti come for brunch which we def will! First time eating indoors since covid and we felt very comfortable doing so. only 7 tables which 3 were in use. Thank you for such great food and service!
MoreHands down one of the best restaurants in the greater Boston area. From the decor, ambiance, service or food we have always have an amazing experience. They always have great wines to pair and the owner/chef always make an effort to engage us and rest of guests. Weve gone there at least 20 times and always leave elated. They are also great at catering events as they did our wedding flawlessly.
MoreI ordered the vegan BLT with tempeh and tofu. Comes with a tasty sriracha sauce. My mom got the creamy coconut milk butternut squash soup. We sat outside on a beautiful day. Highly recommend!
MoreOMFG. This is some of the best vegan food I have ever had. Best food period. This is food for foodies. This food will make you a better person. You will leave this meal different than when you came in. This food makes me proud to be a vegan. I am honestly tearing up thinking about it.The vegan chicken picatta was unreal. The vegan meatballs - delicious sauce. Going to eat here as much as possible!
MoreWalnut Grille has become our favorite restaurant. The food has always been excellent and keeps getting better. Their menu is amazing. I often have trouble selecting an entree because EVERYTHING on it is delicious! Although we haven’t eaten there in the last few months due to the pandemic, we love the service and atmosphere there. Take out is fantastic and we look forward to coming back.
MoreThis place is my favorite vegan restaurant in the greater Boston area! The facilities are clean and the decor is sophisticated. The staff are pleasant and professional-- my water was always full!My fiancee and I came here for lunch and we were blown away by their flavors! Their seitan and tempeh were so delicious and flavorful and the portions were on the larger size. We were even asked if we were enjoying the meal by the chef!!!If youre looking for gourmet vegan cuisine, look no further- this place is bomb.
MoreElegant and cozy with good customer service. Food is tasty however on the pricey side. I would also add if you’re a recent vegan it’s a great place for you to try, being they offer many traditional non-vegan meals such as lasagna, chicken piccata to name a few. Four stars because I did not feel I definitely had to come back the next day as I did with other restaurants.
MoreThey have some nice vegetarian options and vegan ones. Rarely, the staff will mess up your order, but they are usually nice about it. my friend went once and they got his order wrong but refused to admit it. their best option is their vegan meatballs. the vegan meatballs are very good and they taste like real meat!
MoreAnother amazing Google maps find. We started with Gobi Manchurian Appetizer that was flavorful and had great texture. My wife had the Seitan Marsala with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and onions. Great flavor and delicious with heaving hints of the Marsala wine. I had the Tofu Tikka Masala with brown ice and side salad. Great flavor with some heat to it. We can highly suggest Walnut Grille.Returned on Veteran’s Day. Another delicious meal.
MoreAbsolutely incredible experience, a phenomenal service crew, and some of the highest quality vegan food you can possibly imagine. While the trend right now is vegan comfort food made with excessively processed ingredients, Walnut Grille has a creative, carefully-balanced menu with intricate combinations of flavors that simply work. You can still get your comfort food, like quesadillas, but they’ve got excellent veggies inside. The desserts are remarkable. I hold this place in very high regard!
MoreAmazing food. This is a great place for vegetarians and vegans. My gf and I got the Tofu Tikka Masala and the "Chicken" Piccatta with a side of Soy Fingers. Everything was awesome! I highly recommend the Tofu Tikka Masala. Every plate for dinner is ~$18.
MoreTHE VEGAN FOOD. <3 My brother and I jog here to get the pancakes. The whip cream is just amazing!
MoreVery good menu with many items available as vegan. The portions were very large. Excellent service. Make room for dessert like the raspberry swirl cheesecake (vegan).
MoreThis is a really great vegan spot. We came for breakfast and got the Polenta Benedict and the Vegan French Toast. The French toast was the first of it I had since going vegan, and it did not disappoint, the Maple banana syrup compote was so fruity and sweet, and when drizzled on the slightly crisp and fluffy toast, it was amazing. The Polenta Benedict was a great scramble, with tempeh bacon and the polenta base was so starchy and fulfilling.
MoreThe staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. Not clear on the previous person whose review said limited vegan options, as pretty much all items I could see were available as vegan by request.I had the special of the evenings pizza (vegan optionand it was absolutely delicious!Having just heated the last two leftover pieces on the stovetop for lunch, I can say that it is just as good the next day!It was worth the drive...one which I will be doing often!
MoreThe Walnut Grille is a fantastic restaurant with fast service, ample parking, and great food. Regardless of its vegan/vegetarian status, the plates are extremely well constructed and flavorful. Many options on the menu are naturally vegetarian, but vegan options are available for most dishes.
MoreWalnut Grille, a Vegetarian and Vegan restaurant with delectable varieties of vegetarian and vegan choices and plenty of Gluten Free options paired with organic wines and cocktails.
MoreThis is one of the first veg-only restaurants I ever visited. In the four+ years Ive been coming here my experiences have only gotten better. The food is delicious. The Chipotle soy fingers are my favorite app. The servers are friendly and nice! Brunch can be busy though so go early!
