Nature conservation is a focus at this 410-acre area with many habitats including beaver wetlands.
Not crowded. Connects to Bangor forest and Penjajawok at various points so there are several miles of trails
A bit muddy this time of year but such a dynamic trail system and lots of birds.
I never knew this preserve existed until yesterday. I usually hike the mountains, but with less daylight this time of year I needed something closer by to curb my outdoor itch. This was way less crowded than the Bangor City Forest which made it so much more desirable. Although I parked at the BCF, I ended up in Walden on accident, but it was one of the best accidents Ive had. In total I managed to squeak out just about 10 miles of walking and barely moderate "hiking" while here.
Road here with our mountain bikes. Trails were easy to challenging. Should be advertised more for biking.
Really cool technical trails that never get you too far away from the lots!
Got lost
Needs better trail markers. Got lost trying to do the blue loop. Beautiful trails will go back but would love to see better markers!
Absolutely beautiful
Nice trails. Wish they were marked better. As a first time visitor I had difficulty figuring out which trail I was on. Online map is somewhat helpful.
Nice, clean trails.
Great place. Some people need to pick up their dogs dung and restrain their dogs.
I love the Preserve. I am sad however that the Trust thought it needed updating by widening the trail- I felt it was perfect the way it was. It has lost the feeling of a trail; it now feels more like walking on a gravel road.
Always a wonderful visit
Awesome piece of nature.
Great place to walk and bike
Beautiful day for a walk. Awesome trails.
Great area for enjoying time with the kids
A great place to hike, bike, walk your dogs, snowshoe, ski, and bird watching.
Primative trails; connects to Bangor City Forest, Veasie Railroad Bed, Orono Bog Walk, and Other Bangor Land Trust Preserves. There are active beavers, bears, grouse, snow shoe hare, as well as other wild animals.
A nice hike. Trails are very well marked yet I think its pretty straight forward - know your way in and out ;-. A pretty area off the beaten path.
Very quiet hike, relatively flat with a more open feel than the adjacent Bangor City Forest.
Nice place to go if you are in the area or looking for another place to walk, jog, or bike. Could use a public restroom of some sort (even if pay to use), and marker on the trails could be more noticeable. Plus, I dont care to see gas line notices on the trail. Further, during hunting season, make sure you wear orange.
An amazingly beautiful plot of land that virtually calls for you to explore it. If youre looking for an alternative to the Orono Bogwalk or Bangor City Forest — this is it. Great for birdwatchers and hikers. Wildlife lovers rejoice.
Great walking trails
It was fun! gets muddy though
