Wakame Sushi & Takeaway - Sushi takeaway in Tienen, Belgium
Ordered the spicy crab rolls-excellent, Also the crab cakes -excellent, very dissatisfied with the crab cream cheese appetizer. The color was dark brown and that tells me the shortening they used is very old and they need to change it. It was terrible tasting:(
Great food, terrible customer service. We had a reservation at 6:30 and showed up 5 minutes early, they told us it’d be a 5 minute wait for our table which it totally acceptable, 20 minutes later we’re still waiting and someone else comes over and tells us it’ll be another 20-30 minute wait if we want to stay. Absolutely ridiculous, if we have a reservation for 6:30 we should be sat relatively soon and not treated like a walk-in and given the same time for a table. Once we sat down it was another 20-25 minutes before we even saw our server. Love the food but don’t think I’ll be back for a long time.
AMAZING sushi!! 100% worth the price. I ordered several rolls for my birthday and this is now my go-to sushi place. I’ve tried many other sushi restaurants in Minneapolis and this one is by far the best, I’ll never go back to anywhere but here.
My only request from y’all is to clean your menus and refresh your drink list. Aside from that, the food is fire. My mom *always* order the cashew chicken with fried rice. My go-tos are Szechuan edamame (off menu item), gyoza, crazy monkey roll, crunpy roll, and the BMW roll. The lychee martini is also so bomb. The only picture I took is my empty plate of the Szechuan green beans. We literally dipped our rolls in the sauce. So good.
Awesome night out. Place gets so busy it takes a little while during peak times to get your Sushi....Server was so nice she kept updating us and giving us snacks to keep us welcome 🙂........there is another new Sushi place in Glen Lake Mtka, that the food is just as awesome and the costs are a bit lower.......//
As one friend said, "Ive never seen it not busy". You might want to be safe and get a reservation. Second time in here, both similar experiences. We came in on a Monday night and barely got a table for three. A typical American/Japanese sushi place. Since its always full get apps or non sushi to start because you will also be waiting for your sushi. Its a fine place, budget sushi.
Wakame has unique and delicious options (pluralfor vegetarians -- not the usual single vegetable wrapped in rice. The best part is that the prices of the veggie options are actually incredibly reasonable -- far, far cheaper than any roll with meat (as should always be the case). Finally, the service was great!
Sushi had slight fishy taste and was too warm. Excellent service and friendly staff. Took almost an hour too get our food. They should concentrate on quality and skip the mass quantities of ppl at one time.
Elegant dining interior. Great service even in busy times. I loved the variety of sushi and the quality is amazing. The plates are big and portions are huge. They have happy hour and great prices for sushi and beers and cocktails.
Oh man, this place is so good! Really great staff as well! They were fast and the food was sooo good. I spilled my drink and they just got me a new one and cleaned it up right away. They said it was no big deal, as I was so embarrassed! Definitely tipped the guy that cleaned up my pop on the carpet. He was super nice!!!!
Very fun happy hour and great sushi. I recommend for dinner or happy hour spot. The wine and plates are priced so well and you get more than you pay for.
That food was awesome 1st time I bevered sushi and I love it
Been coming here since day 1. George and his crew run a top notch sushi restaurant. Best in the twin cities. No question. Sushi is still as delicious as its was long ago. Outdoor seating has a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Highly recommend the avacado salad and the Wakame roll. The place was packed and our order came out in reasonable time. Thanks
Wakame is the Best Sushi in Minnesota. Súper high end food and great service and friendly professional staff. Very nice atmosphere and great outdoor dining during the nice weather months. Wakame is a must for all Sushi enthusiasts. The owner is a very kind and friendly guy.
I ate here for the first time and ordered delivery trying a few things and treating myself. The tempura veggies and fried spring rolls were tasty, but I’ve had Tom Yum soup in the past elsewhere and was expecting that same explosion of flavors, this version was nothing like this. The shrimp seemed to overpower the flavors of lemongrass, lime, and ginger. The green chicken curry seemed to have too much fish sauce which overpowered the flavors of the curry and left a strong aftertaste; it also seemed like a smaller portion. I also order beef pad thai and was disappointed as it was rather flavorless. There is usually cilantro and other veggies in the pad thai I’ve had elsewhere and an overall flavor to the dish, but it was just flat — flavorless beef, a few pieces of scallion, and raw carrot on top. It just tasted like sweet noodles. I did ask for thai basil to be added, but only a couple leaves were on top of the dish. As I’ve not ordered from Wakume before it could have just been a one time thing, but when spending $70, I just expected the food to taste so much better. I was really disappointed, unfortunately. I know that they’re mainly known for their sushi and the reviews look great for that.
Absolutely loved everything we tried! Far better than anything I’ve had in Rochester where I live. 10/10
Calamari is amazing. We always go for the panang curry. It’s delicious and big portions. Sashimi was average.Recommend calling for a reservation but know you still will have to wait 15-20 min. Without can be 30-40 min on a Friday-weekend
I remember they were good long time ago but I went yesterday beside all the little kids working there who are far from professional. I asked to start with 2 piece uni, I literally went to the restroom to throw up. I told the waitress that’s bad uni 100% she goes like “yeah might have been a bad patch” & didn’t do nothing about it then I asked for fried calamari, it was disgusting dry really thin, I complained she told me “oh I can take the plate we are trying new brand of calamari???” I been all around the world & I can say that was the worst sushi experience/place & definitely cheapest quality fish. I legit can do a better job at home I was surprised how the place was packed but I guess people go for drinks. I would never go there again In my life even if they offered me a million dollars. WOULDNT RECOMMEND
I was a Uber driver, the owner of this establishment ordered a ride and his two drunk friends broke my center console in my car. Then kept messing with it to try and fix it after I ended the trip and asked them to step out of the car. After asking ten times and the drunks yelling at me they stepped out of the car and took off his glasses and chested up to me.I then tried to fix my center console myself and the three of them prevented me from exiting my car and wouldn’t stop filming me and threatening.I ended up fixing the console and I shook their hands and told them next time just exit the car. They agreed and then got me fired from my only job. I asked the owner to call me and he refused. My only income was taken away from entitled drunks who were at fault breaking my car. I do have video that will be on twitter and facebook. Google won’t allow video.
The best sushi restaurant in the city. I tend to still get the chicken teriyaki, but you will not find a better place for Asian cuisine than Wakame. It’s also perfectly located to be within walking distance of the lakes. The patio has some great seating as well!
The poor hostess was trying so hard to be a good advocate while sympathizing with the people standing in the doorway for 2 hours for takeout. If you are short staffed and cant fill orders, stop taking orders! I was told 30 minutes for my order, then sat and waited over 2 hours. I never would have ordered if I knew that was the wait time. I had 3 kids waiting for me to bring them dinner. I got home at 8:30. This is just unacceptable. The hostess was the only person that was explaining the situation and trying to be helpful and courteous. I will not be ordering from here again due to this experience.
The vibes are nice, the food is good and reasonably priced. Pictured is the Korean Short Ribs, the sauce is spicy but so delicious!
One of my go-to local spots! Such a vibrant environment. Please give the servers some leniency when waiting for sushi! The nature of making high-quality sushi when super busy can take 45 min or so - have patience and give servers only respect!
This place is usually fantastic but today the food was not up to par and neither was the service. My waitress rushed me from the time I sat down to hurry up and order. She kept coming back every 4 minutes and asking if I was ready. She did inform Oscar was a 45 to 50 minute wait for sushi so if I wanted some I needed to put it in immediately. The worst part of my visit today was the flies. There was many. When my food arrived they multipled fast. I was so disgusted I asked for to go boxes for all of my food. Today was my worst experience to date at this location. Im very disappointed.
This place is amazing. The fish is so fresh, and the rolls are fantastic. I haven’t tried any of their entrees yet; I usually come for the sushi! I’ve had a few appetizers—seaweed salad, miso soup, wontons, gyoza—and they’re all delicious as well. I highly recommend Wakame!
Not only is this one of my favorite restaurants that has a quality of food that is far beyond other local sushi restaurants, the service is impeccable. The service inside the restaurant while I was there was (and had always beenamazing and to top it off the small touches of takeout just proved how incredible they are as a whole. I opened my takeout bag at home and there were two sets of chopsticks, ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi individually and perfectly packaged to continue the incredible experience at home. I have bragged about this restaurant in the past, but this most recent experience increased my level of appreciation. Thank you for making people feel special on their night out. 😊
The only reason I’m ok with leaving a star it’s because the sushi is decent! But after tonight I’m done with this place 40 minute wait for 4 sushi rolls all which were raw rolls on a Monday night more than half the restaurant was empty!!!!! The manager didn’t even bother apologizing for the wait our server was just hanging out by the way instead of letting the manager know that the sushi bar is behind and yet they have 6 sushi rollers literally taking 5 min chatting breaks with the bus boy! Their excuse were busy! How? Idk but if your hungry or in a rush or expecting mediocre service this place it NOT it!
Food was awesome, service was awesome.Only issue was how long it took to get our first order of 2 signature rolls (45 minutes). After that, the third and fourth showed up within 30 minutes. We were not in a hurry, but ...
We arrived there as soon as it opened. All their soups are made fresh daily; my husband had the hot and sour soup and I had tom yum. We agreed that we had never had better. In addition to that we had two sushi rolls. Both were very tasty and refreshing. We go there every time were on that side of the cities.
The sushi here is too good! The noodles are even better and they even have 5 levels of spicy. Its a bit pricey but definitely worth it if you want to go out for a nice time.
One of the best sushi restaurant in town!Try Hamachi Kama is Grilled Yellowtail collar is unbelievable!!
One of the best sushi spots in the Twin Cities - hands down! The service was ok, but the food specifically the sushi tastes amazing! We were told our sushi was going to take an hour after ordering because it was extremely busy, but it ended up coming quick!
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Don’t get me wrong food is BOMB but we waited over an hour and a half for our food. As a table of 5 servers WE GET IT. It wasn’t our servers fault but when we asked to talk to management she walked circles around the restaurant before she came over to talk to our friend that went to the bar to speak to a manager (we didn’t summon her to the table). She sent the bar manager and our server over before she got to him. He waited 25 minutes to speak to a manager???? After working in a restaurant for 5 years it’s apparent that the manager should not be in that position if she sent the server to talk to us twice, it’s NOT on him to speak to us about it you are a manager for a reason do your job. Overall waiting an hour and a half for the food and 25 minutes for a manager to even give us the time of day? We won’t be back which is disappointing because we enjoyed the food.
I have always loved Wakame but my friends and I had the worst experience yesterday. Before I begin, I will say that I have never once complained at a restaurant because I work on the service industry and I understand things get busy and everything won’t be perfect, but this was just terrible. Firstly, the server did not seem to care about his job at all. He forgot to put in our order until we flagged him down—since she never checked in with us, despite him only having a few tables—and asked about it 30 minutes after ordering, but he made up an excuse instead of telling us he had forgotten to put it in. Our food took over an hour to come out, and I understand that they were busy but other tables that were sat after us got their food, ate, and paid all before we even got ours. We asked to speak to the manager because our order took such a ridiculously long time compared to everyone else’s. When he came to the table he was incredibly rude and told us sushi normally took 45 minutes to come out—not true for any other tables! He then brought over the kitchen ticket to “prove” that we had only ordered 40 minutes ago, but it only proved that our server did not send the ticket until 30 minutes after we ordered with him. He basically blamed us, tried to embarrass us, and told us we were wrong about the time that we ordered, and told us he would not comp anything because it was happy hour and everything was “already so cheap.” The bill came out to $120!! For the worst dining experience any of us had ever had. Rude and demeaning manager and servers who do not care about their job or the service they provide. Will never be going back here again.
I loved the mango sushi and the mango tuna sushi. I will always come back for it. The crazy monkey rolls tasted insane and good. I did not like the pad thai tho. Maybe it was made in a hurry i think because there were so many people. The server was so nice and perfect. The price was worth it. 9/10 definitely will go again
Good sushi and sashimi. Everything was fresh and delicious. The wait staff were prompt and did not make us feel rushed. Overall good local spot in Minnesota.
My husband, mother in law, and I tried this one Friday night for dinner. It was a last minute decision so we made reservations online. There is a large parking lot but several businesses share it so parking wasn’t super easy. There was still a wait to get in but we head over anyway for a pre dinner drink. We were able to order a round of drinks and sit outside while we wait. We had so many options to choose from the large menu. I was so impressed by all of the different rolls and sake variety. They had many fun cocktails which is always exciting to me!! I did the mango margarita which was as beautiful as it was tasty. I actually don’t love mango flavoring but the girls at the table next to us were raving about them so I went for it and was not disappointed. I decided to go with a hot appetizer and side of mashed potatoes. The short ribs were pretty fatty and chewy, which i didn’t enjoy as much as I’d like. The potatoes were garlic mashed and had good flavoring but were pretty dry. I will have to try the sushi rolls next time because based on toothed reviews, they sound like they are the main event!
Chicken lettuce wraps and basil chicken wings were delicious! The chicken wraps have a lot of flavor. Fyi... make sure you have time to dine and because there will be a wait.
Great prices and great tasting food. I really love sushi and they have amazing vegetarian options and it was such a good experience. We will be coming back!!
This is easily my favorite sushi spot. The happy hour is great. And the service is always spot on!
This is the best sushi in all of Minneapolis! I had the escolar sashimi, the tootsie roll, the Bentley roll, and the Wakame roll. The Bentley roll had the perfect amount of spice and even came with its on specials dipping sauce. The sauce complimented the roll well. The sushi was very fresh, tasty, and the perfect temperature. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area!
This place is amazing, great customer service as well as great seating areas. The food here is amazing and worth trying. I highly recommend 🥰
Nice place, nice staff. I didnt try sushi but salads were rich and good. Not expensive. It has a large garden with umbrellas and dining outside was a pleasure.
Sushi was yummy and staff was kind, but it was very slow service, and they were very busy. We went on a Thursday night and waited about 25 minutes after being sat down to order. Another 35 for the sushi to come out (we ordered 3 rolls). About another 20 to get the check. We had to ask a different worker to ring us up so we could leave. I think it would be great on a day it wasnt so crowded. There are some basic rolls for $5 - $8. All the good rolls (good, in my opinionwere above $10.50. Expect to pay about $18-$25 per adult meal.
Had a great time here! The warm sake was amazing and so was the sushi. We tried the BMW rolls and other varieties of sushi. Highly recommend checking this spot out, no matter what level of sushi enjoyer you are!
Stopped into this little gem to pick up dinner Togo. I was impressed with the interior of the restaurant it looked like a nice place to come back to a date night or outing with friends. All the staff we encountered were nice and accommodating and while we waited for the food we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Drinks were a nice selection and a very wallet friendly. My reason for the 4 stars was the chicken fried rice. This is the first time I have been disappointed with fried rice, a complete lack of flavor and seasoning. But Will definitely be returning for to try the sushi
Top 3 places for sushi in the twin cities. Clean and cozy atmosphere. Easy to carry a conversation and the sushi is great! I recommend the yellowtail cheeks (hamachi Kama). Cocktails are good, but not great. Hence the 4 stars.
SO happy my favorite sushi restaurant is doing well during these unprecedented times. The vibe and food here is one that is hard to match. Can’t wait to make another visit soon. George, the owner is such a nice guy and really puts his heart into his restaurants. The sushi rolls are definitely my favorite here, but in case you don’t like sushi, they have plenty of dishes you might really like.
This place serves some really very delicious Sushi and Asian food. The best part is that they alsohave vegan and vegetarian Sushi! The service is very good and the ambiance is also very good. The prices are a little on the higher side. They can get really busy at times, wait times of hours. So, if you are planning to go there, make sure you have plenty of time or make reservations before you go.The only bad part is that the food taste can sometimes vary a lot depending on how busy they are, which is something they really need to work on!
With the covid-19 at a lot of places you need to have a reservation! So that what we did for 7:30pm and we didnt get in till 8:10! With that being said the food was good and the service was great! The egg rolls were good and those wantons are yum!!! We ordered sushi rolls and those were good! I just have a hard time paying a ton of money when you can do all you can eat for a lot less! But definitely a place to go and try!!
