Cabarita Park, Johnson Street, Wagga Wagga NSW 2650, Australia, Wagga Wagga
Sandy swimming beach on the Murrumbidgee River with electric BBQs, a picnic shelter & a playground.
Great area; would be fantastic in warmer drier weather. At the moment it’s flooded!
The Riverside Adventure Playground is AMAZING!! The thoughtful design has incorporated countless activities for children of all ages including slides, rope climbing, swings, trampolines, flying fox and water track equipment. We took our 2yo with his 4 & 6 yo cousins who all had a fantastic time. The high quality soft-fall base ensures safe play and there is plenty of seating for the folks as well as some covered tables which will undoubtedly be used for birthday parties every weekend. There were lots of kids and adults at the park when we went yet the arrangement of the playground prevented it from feeling crowded.Due to high water levels, we didnt get to experience the infamous Wagga Beach itself though the area is quite picturesque and is obviously loved by the locals. There are walking tracks and bathroom facilities.
Nice new playground, kids loved it
Wagga beach will be a good choice if you like to picnic. It might be flooded after heavy rain, check before you plan for a walk at Wagga Beach.
Riverside: Wagga Beach is a popular, natural, attraction in Wagga Wagga.Theres great access to the Murrumbidgee River, plenty of grassed, shady spots for a picnic, sheltered barbecue areas, a playground and seats to sit and watch the world go by.Splash about and cool off at the sandy beach area during the warmer months. Or, launch your kayak or canoe from here and see part of our city from the water.Riverside: Wagga Beach is also part of the Wiradjuri Walking Track in Wagga Wagga. Stop off here for a rest as you wander the track, or start here and discover more of our city.Riverside: Wagga Beach is just five minutes from the citys CBD, so you dont have to travel far to find this small piece of paradise when you #visitwagga.Recently wagga beach was hit by floods, due to the flooding children play area and rest areas were damaged, it was closed for the public and the rehabilitation work is underway.
High waters currently but the beach area is worth visiting for picnics and the playgrounds
Awesome new equipment and the floods have really brought a verdant green to the fresh sod. I cant wait for the open air events at the stage!
New upgrade is pretty nuch done and its pretty freaking amazing down there. Lots of open space. Killer playground. Great spot to cool off on a hot day. Great place for a family picnic or day out.
The new playground is amazing. My 2, 7 and 14 year old loved it. Lovely toilets and as it was winter we didnt go near the water but from previous visits its pretty good too
Theres a fabulous childrens activity area with all kinds of swings, flying fox, and helter skelter for fun. Lots of individual barbecue covered spaces.
The best play equipment for kids anywhere. Never seen anything this big in Sydney. Our grandkids loved it! Theres a massive slippery dip, a flying fox and all kinds of other crazy climbing structures. Plus water play features. Make sure you visit Wagga if youre travelling with kids.
Great playground. Beach more like mudflats but the kids still enjoyed it too.
Wow❣️ There has been a massive amount of thought and money put into this area... 2 huge play structures, open grass, seating, clean toilets, a car park, walking trails, covered BBQ structures, life buoy stands. Nothing like my childhood dragging a truck tyre inner tube up the dirt track, & swim back to the beach in seconds. It was sad to see so little beach, just mud, & only a couple of metres visible from the recent floods, hopefully it improves with lower water levels
The ultimate playground experience for children. You have to see it to believe it.
Obviously just the river bank… the park grounds were reasonably clean. Was lovely and peaceful
Good place to visit, serene and peaceful. Less like a beach, more like a river bank.
Love visiting wagga beach. The new playground is amazing and the walk along the riverside is beautiful. A favourite spot we visit almost every weekend.
We went to the park near there its a great place to take kids
Beach had disappeared when we went but all the same was a great meeting spot
Nice spot will be better once the renovations are finished ie water slides and playground
A good place to relax, will be even better when the Beach Precinct is completed. Hopefully there will be good outlets included.
Beautiful area but can get very crowded very quickly. The water was a bit murky, but still okay for a swim. Lots of signs talking about Wagga Beach being a Top Australian Beach in 2020 (number 9), but we probably wouldnt have ranked it this high ourselves.A grass verge for the most part next to the river, with a toilet and shower block, picnic benches, childrens playground and shade under the trees. Worth ticking off the list, but we wouldnt say a Top 10 beach in Australia.
#9 Top 20 Australian beaches in 2020. Need I say more?
Such a lovely place for walk, a BBQ or a picnic. The water park looks amazing too (it wasnt open at the time).
It was a very nice and clean beach. The flow if the river was little fast. Enjoyed walking along side and the people in this town were so nice. I recommend this place.
Loved it, be better once the area is finished, the playground area still under construction.
Great clean and well appointed beach area
I don’t know how it was the 9th top beaches of top 20 beaches in Australia. I didn’t find anything here, rather it was too smelly. There is not even a view of beach, it’s just like a lagoon or whatever you could say.The water is so dirty that you may not feel to step in. The whole lands are muddy, not having any sands at all. No beach feeling at all.
Flooded.😔 Dog on leash allowed. Playground available. Construction sites nearby. Parking available. Public toilet.
A bit disappointed when I came past. Floods n river water levels left the beach washed away and not kid friendly. Big drop off when stepping into water and strong currents
Its very nice place for walking and swim.We didnt swim there but I saw people who swimming .The place under construction and there flooding before my visit the reason the area very muddy and not clean yet .Overall nice place and there was small playground for kids and picnic tables.
Who they are kidding; ranked number 9 in top 100 beaches?? Must be ranked bottom 9th. Lots of facilities but beach, not in my books sorry
Beautiful spot with BBQ facilities, toilets, and a great place for a swim! I usually have a quick stop mid ride to enjoy the cooler breeze off the river
Best swim in years. I grew up in Wagga. Today it was 35 degrees C and the river was so cold. Just love Wagga beach on a hot day. They are in the process of building a big park for kids, where the caravan park and St Michaels oval was. Lovely walk along the river too.
A great spot to cool down - but the river is high at the moment.
Looking for clean tranquil get away for few minutes or hours it has playground for kids picnic areas BBQ well maintained .Good seating under shade beautiful trees. Have coffee swim read book sit to watch the river flow past. Then walk along river path enjoy the bird life. Watch all new developments our council is doing with upgrading the precinct.
Recommended by a local we chatted with. Lovely spot on the river, great walking path and picnic areas. Next time I will bring my swimmers as this would be a great place to cool down in the warmer months.
Great spot to have a barbecue and relax with family and friends. Plenty of seating and tables plus free electric barbecues to use. The barbeques are covered by shelters to give shade. Lots of grass to lay down and relax. The beach is ample for the kids to play and the river is inviting. However, the river can run fast so caution is required when swimming. A kids playground is also available. Fabulous place to spend some time in a natural environment.
Definitely not a 1st class beach as far as that goes, but a very nice spot to stop, have a picnic and go for a dip.Although it is shallow, its not ideal for kids... the current can be pretty strong!
Nice place to go for a swim or just cool down.Voted #9 of top 20 Australian beaches - not 100% sure about that but that doesnt matter. Just a nice place to even just have a picnic.
Its a tranquil family place. Great place to come for walks or just have the kids have some fun.
Interesting idea; a beach my the river. Very well kept, plenty of space to lie around and nice area to swim. Found the water was pretty cold and obviously it doesnt compare to coastal beaches unfortunately but a good experience nonetheless
Its a great place for your kids to have fun with the water in a hot summer Xmas day :)
Wagga Beach is such a delight, has been for many years, be it sight seeing, picnics on the tables with cooking facilities, heaps of shade, walking track, canoe club, lots of parking and on it goes, we just love this place
Enjoyed our visit to wagga beach in the cooler months. Walked down to the rocks and along the beach, played in the park as well. Also visited recently to stand in the river on an extremely hot day. Sand on the beach was nuclear, burnt the soles of your feet on the way down to the shore. The river was nice and fresh. Stood in the water for a good hour.In both climates, wagga beach has something to offer.
A great place to visit for a bbq. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the scenery.
Very quiet on a cool Sunday morning. I understand it gets very busy on a hot Summers day so Ill have to wait and see how the parking and picnic areas cope.
Just a brief brake but this beach close to town was excellent. Grassy slopes and plenty of seating spotted around. Parking is good. BBQs under cover with seating spotted around
Wagga Beach is a lovely surprise. Its a beautiful, peaceful little spot on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River - one of my favorite rivers in Australia! There are covered picnic tables with BBQs surrounded by beautiful old gum trees and Willow trees lining the opposite bank of the grand old river. Very picturesque. I couldnt think of a nicer way to spend a hot summers afternoon in Wagga. Theres even a caravan park on site for those people who want to linger longer. Definitely worth a visit.
Such an awesome place for a swim... The water is refreshing and the area is super clean... Great facilities - bbq area, shade, tables... Warning for anyone from out of town, the current can be powerful and will take you down stream... Watch out for little people...
