Waffle Shop Country Cooking in Modesto

We decided to try this spot because of the waffles and the reviews. Our party was a total of 7. The second we walked in we were greeted with a "can you sit on the side and not block the walkway". We werent even in the entire restaurant yet so that was unsettling. As the rest of our group walked in the same host said "oh youre with them? You guys have to go to the back" with a rude hand gesture. When we were told to go to the back tables, no one directed us or walked us back. On the table was tip from the table before, we explained to another host it wasnt ours and she responded in a rude tone "ill handle that in a second, what do you guys want to drink". We ordered drinks then waited to order food. We were forgotten and had to tell the server twice we were ready. The waitress we ordered with was actually nicer than the hosts and bus women. Our coffee mugs were dirty and had water spots all over. We got our food pretty quickly and it was good. Everyone ate all the food. Our waitress was very good and attentive. When we finished a host/bus checked on us and almost refused to take our payment because we didnt have the check. Some of the hosts need training on customer service. Overall probably wont go back.

Great service from Noelle (?spelling). Tasty breakfast, more than enough food with each entree. It was kind of busy on a Saturday morning so plan accordingly.

Come to Modesto from Stockton for chiropractor and breakfast after, I dont like my options at home. Love the atmosphere.

The food is great and so is the service. The ladies treat you like youre family. I have breakfast there bout 4 times a month or more.

Usually good but today I had alot of eggshell in my breakfast burrito.

First I’d like to say I wish I could’ve given five stars. I ordered a Three Egg Breakfast With a Slab O’ Ham. The eggs and ham are very delicious! I didn’t really care for the country potatoes but they were still good. The biscuit with gravy was excellent with flavor and definitely passed my breakfast test. I ordered orange juice and black coffee. Everybody I interacted with was really nice. My big gripe is that after I was served my food, my server did not come over and ask me how it was or if I need anything. The plates were just dropped and that was that. The portions could be bigger. I was contemplating on ordering something else. I sat there and waited after my meal and decided to just go pay for my meal. She did ask me at the register if I wanted anything else? But that was too late. There was a couple that walked in a few minutes after I did and they were serve drinks first before anybody came and asked me if I wanted anything to drink. In my reviews I like to be very fair and like I said everybody was really nice. It’s the first time in years that I never left a tip because I felt neglected. I’m sure I’ll come back I just don’t know when that will be.

A MUST go for every trip to Modesto.Our favorites are the biscuits and gravy, pecan waffle and the simple fries and ranch.

Not good. The potatoes was fried like french fries. Redid my order still not good. Tried to tell me only one cook. Sure Im going to believe that. Been goin out to eat since a little child. There was no love in it. Unless its my skin color was off. Lol! Should have stuck with my regular folks like farmers market, doc BBQ, and the Asian grill. Not coming back. Overated! Pictures fool you! I know better now.

The breakfast is really good I usually get the Denver omelet with avocado and its awsome the service is excellent my coffee never goes empty hardworking staff! Only the location keeps it from 5 stars!

This waffle house is one of the friendliest restaurants Ive ever eaten. The food is always prepared so hot and tasty till last bite. I love all the men and women that give waffle house the good name it has. Bring your famy,friends and enjoy the wide variety of delicious meals cooked to your desire. What a delight ! !This morning i ordered delivery(Doordashfrom this place. I have never ordered nor have walked in to eat here. I ordered steak and eggs (med rare), the eggs scrambled, country potatoes, and a side of bacon. I also ordered a cup of coffee. First, everything arrived warm and the coffee hot.Nice portions of scrambled eggs and potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and they followed my directions and included steak sauce. They included both cream and sugar and 2 jellies for the well buttered toast. Best breakfast delivery ever, and highly recommended.

Awesome place to share a meal . The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful . Positive vibes all around . I would definitely recommend The waffle shop to anyone who enjoys great food, great prices and happy workers in a diner setting . Keep up the great work Waffle Shop !!!

Went twice so far, and I love everything about this place. The food the service, I just love it, and for sure will be going back with my family.

Its a diner style of place, they dont try to be anything else. Good service ( thanks to Maria Food was made as I ordered it and arrived hot and good. Never lacked for an offer to refill my coffee cup. The staff welcomes you and smiles..love that. Need to go back soon.

The girls that work there are amazing. You could not ask for better service. Better yet they have even memorized are order. They are the reason we go back. Yes the food is good but the service is over the top.

UPDATE: Its been quite awhile since I reviewed Waffle Shop. Went there this morning. Still loving this place. As I sat there this morning I realized tho the food is great and all the great things about this place is the staff. They are truly awesome. Make you feel like youre home.

1st time there. We had 2 sit out side bcuz there was 4 adults and a child. Pretty busy. Said they had a new cook. Told us 45 mins 2 get our food. Eggs were overcooked and plate wasnt really hot. Wont go back there again. Waitresess kept coming out 2 c uf we were ok.

Best bisquits and gravy in Modesto. Usually I have to season them at other restaurants, but not here. Bisquits are perfect, not doughy, and the gravy is to die for.Update: Still great food. Country potatoes are awesome also. Go and get em!

Always great!! Unfortunately, they are only open when they have enough staff. So, if you work in the food industry and need a job go apply. The Waffle Shop Omelet is great with the side of biscuits and gravy 😋 👌

There waffle are good but they have the best sausage is big and good and rhe services is really good friendly people good service its a good fam place also safe cozy .

This has always been one of my home away from homes places I just love it warm cozy and toasty friendly with amazing service great waitresses they get ur order right the first time !

Let me say.... this place had a good old fashioned diner food and old diner service!I was treated well, there was way too much food and my coffee never went empty, nor did I have to ask!Other places could learn from these folks!

Portions are smaller than a few years ago BUT same delicious quality and excellent service.Side note as a repeat customer over the years I would gladly pay more for the same portion size I have grown to expect through the years than pay the same for less food.Side note my wife asked me how my chicken fried steak was and I replied "excellent" then looked down to take another bite then realized that I had ate it all without realizing because it was probably half the size that I remember.

Well oiled machine! Great breakfast and they are quick but the pancakes (not a pancake fanare the best. The link sausage is amazing! The place needs an update but it you want a great breakfast this is the place. It gets packed but no worries they are faasssttt!

This has to be one of the best breakfast diners I’ve ever been to. Service was exceptional, food was DELICIOUS, the diner was quaint and simple but warm and welcoming, and the prices were perfect. Unfortunately, I live in Florida and won’t be returning to Modesto anytime soon. But if I could, I would be in that diner just about every morning.Love it when I find small gems so unexpectedly!

This is the friendliest breakfast spot I’ve ever been in. Excellent food, fast and attentive service and everyone on staff was all smiles. We’re just in town for one more day but we will be back tomorrow morning for the early bird special on our drive out. I wish this place were back home! Thanks for such a great experience!

This was my familys first time here and we had a great experience. Our hostess and server were very friendly and helpful in helping us decide what to get! We got the waffle special, bacon waffles, the prime rib special and the waffle house special omelet. It was delicious and filling. Thank you for the great experience, even my kids loved it. "I love it here, lets come back again!"

Birthday breakfast for my husband.. they were awesome and did a surprise candle and everything! We got to decorate our booths too!

Great food good service. The prices are way better then dennys. I paid 32 bucks at dennys for one person. Here at the waffale shop it was 34 for 2 people much better

I took my kids there for brunch and awesome friendly waitresses and I am a big breakfast person and let me tell you so tasty and cooked so well flavorful, the pancakes my daughter loved said they were bomb and unless its my cooking she never said that Definitely recommend this place Awesome service and the foods the same

Been going here for breakfast for years. I always get breakfast and dont know how good lunch is. I love their omelettes and pancakes! The Waffle Shop special and Greek omelet ( in picare amazing! Coffee is good and always fresh. Staff are friendly and nice. Love coming here and always find a coupon in my mailbox. Will not let you down, especially if you are hungry!

Early bird specials..Lots of food for your money. Miss Corie Prieto is the owner. They treat me like family, but I do eat there 4 times a week.

Been eating breakfasts at "THE SHOP" for several years.LOVE their people (Corrie-the owner is the best!, & LOVE their food!I recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates great food & value! 😝
