Mud & natural-gas eruptions create small volcanoes in this natural reserve with a lunar landscape.
Vulcanii Noroioși Pâclele Mari in Galati
Description
Privilege
Long travel but impressive. Never saw those before.
A perfect place to visit with children. A lot of interesting things to find and see. My kids were so excited to explore each part of it. Have a snack because the food is not very good there.
MoreAmazing place out a Jurassic Park kind of scenery. Worth travelling all the way through the rugged terrain to see how the earth is opening up through muddy bubbling craters.
MoreGorgeous, in a very unique way. It feels like youre on another planet. When you get there, dont rush straight to the largest cone, there is a short path around the area with interesting signs explaining how the volcanoes are formed. The entrance fee is cash only, and so is the payment for the parking. There is also a restaurant right next to the entrance (outside the reservation area), with good food and large portions. Its also cash only.
MoreUnique natural place in România. Amazing and surreal view.
Amazing surreal landscape ! You can imagine how our world will look like in close future if we don’t stop the climat crisis. Unique expérience worth coming hundreds of kilometers!
MoreThe place is very beautiful, and the experience of walking on the dune-shaped sediments makes you feel in another world. It is also surrounded by nature, which gives you a sense of calm, and pleasure to the eye while visiting the so called volcanos. However, there are some things worth mentioning:- The area is smaller than you might expect. and after 40 minutes, the trip exhausts itself (except if you want to take some spectacular photos, in which case, you might want to stay longer)- there are a few public toilets, but they are quite dirty- the road there is, in some parts, bumpy (a condition of visiting a place in the middle of nature)- Nicely, there is a restaurant next to the place which is administered by locals, and where they use ingredients from animals and plants raised or grown by them. You can also find natural local wines and spirits ( I highly recommend the wine). All of these being said, the place is worth visiting, especially if you pair with other visiting sites, such as the less famous "trovanzi".
MoreGood sight to visit.
Out of this world natural place. No big amenities, but kind people and good parking. There are also places to eat your own food and a family restaurant. The worst was the toilet in the restaurant, this is the reason for minus one star.
MoreNature is simply mindblowing! Must have! Good parking lot, tickets in reasonable price, amazing thing to see. Watch out for fresh mud, because youll leave your footprint for months and become a vandal.
MoreOne of the best location from Romania. Mud Volcano 🌋 is special spot from Europe. The access is little hard but when you arrive there you will never regret. The deep of volcanic mud is 3 kilometres. I see this place from first time in my life and it was automatically nice.
MoreIt was amazing. We visited on a cloudy, but fair wather day and I suggest you should do the same. If it rains, the soil will be really hard to traverse. We started with Paclele Mari. The road to it is ok-ish. Not terrible, but you should pay attention to all the pot holes. Be very careful with children, dogs and other animals since, from our experience, they tend to jump the street.Parking is 5 RON, access ticket for adults is 4 RON.The landscape is otherwordly. Deep ridges, gray and redish-brown devoided of life soil, bubbly volcanoes and a mud that smells like fosil fuels. We enjoyed it.Careful with the mud. Its sticky as heck, smells like crude oil and its very hard to remove from clothes/shoes/fabric. Can also iritate the skin because of its composition.Once you pass the ticketing gate, you can freely explore and I suggest to take your time and do so.After Paclele Mari we went back, on the main road, to Paclele Mici. The trail to Paclele Mici si behind Camping Muddy. Its marked and easy to follow. Same acces pricess as before and youll need a sifderent ticket for them, purchaseable on the premise. We found Paclele Mici more interesting that Paclele Mari. They volcanoes there are more active, more numerous and spread on a larger area.
MoreBeautyful place and good foodprocessor in the restaurant and frendly people in the kitchen
MoreSpectacular view and impressive place. They dont accept card so make sure you have some cash with you.
MoreSo different! Worth visiting.Entry ticket for adults is 4 RON, which is less than 1 €.
MoreVery impressive experience! Beautiful and natural landscape!Pay attention to the "not so dry" spots or you may lose some items like your shoes inside :)
MoreInteresting place to visit at least once. The road is terrible though. Small volcanoes are actually nicer but there is a short walk to the top of the hill to reach it.
MoreNice. Diferent... Phenomen who should be seen once in lifetime. Sourounding restaurant and motel doesnt. matter. Mud vulcanos matter....
MoreStinky air because of the gas eliminated, amazing views around, interesting mud volcanoes 🌋 activity.
MoreWhat a place! Absolutely hidden gem of Romania. I went to see this place in October 2021 and I want to come back! Very local place, there is a camping next to it so you can stay overnight. Unfortunately not public transport, so I got a train from Bucharest to the closest town and then hitchhiked. Off the beaten path if you travel around Romania or do a city break in BucharestPics ig@offtrackroza
MoreWe went at Paclele Mici only because the wind was very strong during winter when we visited the place and we decided we will not visit Paclele Mari too. Beautiful place where you can go with your kids or friends. There are some small mountains you can climb too near that place. You realy need to visit the place. Also you can buy Plescoi sausages from a place nearby. If you have a mobile house you can camp there.
MoreInteresting experience for a small fee, 1 euro. Can get crowded by afternoon the best time to visit is early morning or at sunset. Plenty of opportunity for photos.
MoreUnique place where you can enjoy this rare phenomenon. There is free parking as well as paid one, entrance fee is under 1 euro. Gorgeous moon-like landscape
MoreA barren land that is actually a geological curiosity. These "mud volcanoes" are bubbling 24/7 slowly terraforming the terrain. The entrance fee is minuscule, and the sights are totally unique and worth it. It reminds me of selenar landscapes.
MoreThis was such an amusing place to visit, and the surrounding countryside was breathtaking. The volcano was very strange, and not at all what I had imagined, but it’s so fun to walk around and it really seems like the kind of landscape that dinosaurs just walked out of. I really recommend a visit, just watch out cause the larger bubbles can splash you, one splashed my legs!
MoreThe mud volcanoes are nice, but its not very interesting. The access is on a very bad and narrow road. Parking is paid. Theres also a fee to enter the volcano. You can only pay in cash in Lei or Euros. Card payments are not possible.
MoreWowowow! We loved this place. The mud vulcanos are great. We could absolute recommend this area. You have to pay a little entry. It’s not very dirty over there but we found on the way to the vulcanos some cigarettes, plastic stuff and toilet papers.Everywhere are trashbuns!!! Right next to them you could find trash. I could not understand why tourist disturb the nature that way!
MoreDifferent experience, something to see. Bubbling or boiling as it names refers to it, makes you want to have a bath in it :))). Only the smell and the written word warns you that it’s toxic for us and the mud is coming to surface from 3 in deep
MoreThe Berca Mud Volcanoes is a geological and botanical reservation located in Scorțoasa commune close to Berca in Buzău County in Romania. Its most spectacular feature is the mud volcanoes, small volcano-shaped structures typically a few metres high caused by the eruption of mud and natural gases.
MoreWithin the green lush of the Buzao region lies a barren cone shaped hill. As you step over you realize that the cone is an active mud hill. At the top youll find active bubbling mud pools.Extraordinary experience, worth the journey, a site you will defenately remember.
MoreCool and unearthly landscape, very cheap access, but its actually quite a small attraction and the roads to get there are really underdeveloped
MoreAmazing art of nature.Unfortunately bad organization on site, roads quite bad in whole Buzau county. In case of rain, be prepaired to have extra shoes and bags to put them in, as it is quite muddy tehre, and there are no places where you can wash your shoes.
MoreA very nice place where you can view an awesome natural phenomenon. Is a good place to bring your family or to spend a good time with your friends.Unfortunately, the road to the place is pretty bad full of potholes and bumps but is still practicable if you run your car at a reasonable speed.
MoreIt was a nice experience. It starts with a cute story on the little info panels,(Rules to followfunny for children. The restaurant near needs improvements but the place is okay.Dont forget to bring shoes to change 😅Extra: there is rain water plus brushes to clean yours if you dont have shoes to changePeople: really nice and helpful. 🎉
MoreBeautiful place, interesting sight and natures phenomenon. But the restaurants are closed this time. You can order food for home, but the menu is really basic stuff you find everywhere, maybe if they had something interesting, fresh and new.
MoreGreat experience, unique geographical place, only found in few countries like Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. There are 4 points, few km apart one from another, worth seeing.
MoreMuddy Fun!!!Really cool place to visit. Try eating there, too!Not an out of this world experience, but definitely unique and worth seeing once
MoreUnique place in the middle of the nature! The roads are not the best, but with a bit of nerve you will get there.PS: Dont harm the natural beauty you will find there!
MoreThe location is great, clean and has quite a panorama, being located in the hills. These volcanoes are quite unique and the ones at Pâclele Mari are the biggest in Europe. Perfect for a one day trip!
MoreIt s a very nice and unique place in Romania and u must visit, the price is cheap and it s not crowded becouse u have enough space. It s also a good place for Trash the dress photoshoting if u are interested.
MoreVery generous opening times (till sunset), great landscape, very good informations and amazing mud volcanoes😁Overall a great experience I would recommend to anyone visiting the area!
MoreThis area looks very interesting, and you can spend an hour, maybe more exploring the area. The land mass looks amazing and it can be an interesting experience.
MoreVery nice! It looks like being on another planet! The weather should be nice when you visit.Be prepared to get muddy, so bring spare shoes, wet tissues and bags for dirty shoes.
MoreGreat natural place. Recomanded in summer, because if it rained before the mud will stick to your shoes.
MoreAmazing. Ive done a whole trip around Romania and this was one of the best things Ive done. I made an hour detour on my way from Sinaia to Bucharest to see this and it was so worth it. You can go right up to the volcanoes which are constantly erupting which is so cool! Bring wellies if you have them so you can not worry about getting your shoes covered in grey mud! Be careful not to touch the mud as apparently its corrosive (dont skip the info boards at the beginning which tell you this). Theres free parking right next to the paid parking for some reason so dont get caught out.
MoreIt is a very nice location. The road to get there is good, in some places there are holes in the asphalt but overall is ok. When you arrive there is a parking 3 ron/hour. And the entrance is 4 Ron adults, 2 ron students and 1 ron children. Is easy to go there just fallow the roadPayment of the tickets is at the entrance. Is a nice place to go whit children and see a unique place in Romania and one of few places that have this kind of vulcano in the world. There is also a littel place were you can eat romanian food that is very good. The soup is 15 ron second dish is 15 or 25 ron and desert is 1 ron romanian donuts. I would recomand to eat there and see how food is made in that place of Romania.
MoreA very unique place to visit at least once in a lifetime. You can spend maximum an hour wondering around the interesting lanscape around the mud vulcanos.
MoreVery interesting geological place, looks awesome from above (with a drone). Volcanoes are still active, so you can see some bubling.
MoreThis place is truly unique, very beautiful. Is great for trips with kids and theres a lot to learn. Unfortunately its mostly abandoned, just a small restaurant on site and some toilets (portapotty). Also the road leading to this is not very good.
MoreIts like a trip to the Moon. Unusual but worth to visit. The volcanos are not very big but its something you dont see everyday. Good place to go with the kids for a day out in the nature. The access is not permitted if the weather is rainy, so be sure to visit on sunny days.
