Vukovar Water Tower in Osijek
Description
Privilege
Super
Pleasantly surprised with idea and execution of renovation. A must see location. Beautiful view of the city and the river.
MoreRestored and made as museum, safe on inside, beautiful view
Its sad to see what people do ... But these places exist to remind us.
Presentation of really interesting history; nice panoramic views on the Drava river and the town. However, I believe that the entrance fee (55 HRN - cca 7,5€could be lower.
MoreThis is a must see location! Impressive building with historical significance. 🇭🇷
MoreCroatian Monument!!
Nice view of vukovar. You can take the lift or stairs
This is the place to honor Croatia, its victims and its struggles for freedom. With weapons embargo and no help from anyone (compare the Ukraine today and its demanding and ungrateful political cast), the 4th largest army has been defeated. Yet the political cast kept its dignity and Croatian people its pride. Honor this and witness the worse siege since Stalingrad where the Serbs massacred entire hospital after winning the Siege.
MoreBeautiful place, short and understandable media at first floot with great view on the second. Tickets are 65 kn per adult, but has family discounts.
MoreAnother memorial to the heroic defenders of Vukovar during senseless aggression of neighbours and the former so called Jugoslavenske Narodne Armije supported by the Serbian regime. Wonderful effort by the city to preserve the tower that was hit by serbs projectiles 640 times.
MoreModern multimedia exhibitionAcces by lift or stairs
Very well made, clean and tidy. Definitely worth to visit if not for the history, then for the view from to top.
MoreVery cleverly and interactively preserved symbol of the city of Vukovar. Kudos for the conceptual solution and kudos to the builders who made it. I recommend going if you are in Vukovar. Try to visit the water tower in the evening. The view is wonderful in all 360 degrees. secured parking, affordable prices
MoreMust visit while in Vukovar. The simbol of resistence, human suffering and hope.
Wears her wounds like medals!
The main "attraction" of visiting Vukovar is the shelled out water tower damaged during the Croatian independence war with Serbia. The tower was only recently renovated and turned into a museum. After taking the elevator up to the top is a small inside area with information and videos about the war in the region. Then you can either walk up a ramp or take the elevator to the top for views of the surrounding area, including the Danube and Serbia. Fee to get in, pretty small and worth out. Free parking on site and a cafe. Small gift shop too. No dogs allowed inside the museum/water tower. Highly recommend.
MoreWe just stopped, looked, and took photos. It shows great damage from Serbian shelling in 1991.
MoreLiving monument that was a beacon of hope for the town under siege
Very stark reminder of the 1991 uprisings.
A splendid monument commemorating the heroic Croatian defenders battle for freedom.
MoreWe decided to climb the stairs, and I have to admit it wasn’t as hard as I thought. it has almost 200 stairs it seems like a lot but young people manage to climb without any problems. The view from the tower is amazing. I was born in Vukovar and because of the water tower that I watched for a long time unrestored, I am very glad to finally see it in full glory. It has always been and will always remain a symbol of the city, which is why I bought water tower startas shoes.
MoreNew experience on a part of Croatian history. Still realistic in some parts and still has the historic touch.
MoreWas good, Its so amazing memorial place
It was sad to stand in front of a place where the war destroyed so much. It can be an antiwar symbol.
MoreHistoric place to visit
Great view!
Interesting, educative. Stunning view
Visited the tower a few days ago. Yes the view is amazing and yes the tower is very well taken care off and yes the ladies working there were super nice. BUT basically it’s a memorial promoting hate. I expected to see a memorial showing the damages and negative effects of war on life and people. War is war. War means death and suffer. War isn’t beautiful, it isn’t something that should be glorified… And sadly, that’s exactly what the exhibition in the tower is promoting…
MoreAmazing view with a a lot of historical movies which are educational and interesting.
Moregreat symbol... its renovation, reconstructed, beatifull landscape to see... inside full lcd screen with stories. high entire price but worth.
MoreOnce the tallest watertower in Europe, now the memory and commemorative center of Croatias and Europe worst war crimes after WWII made by Serbian rebels, chetniks, and Yugoslav army. Visited every single year by the thousands of Croatians to pay respect for the fallen heroes that defended the city from the then 4th army in Europe for three months, in some cases only with hunting rifles. God have mercy on them.Never forget.ZA DOM!
MoreIt is nice to visit such place where you can see and remember yourself how it was back during the war. Multimedia devices can give you good info. Everything is how it should be.
MoreA modern looking tribute to the fallen defenders of Vukovar. You must see this.
Very interesting and fascinating place to visit. The information material in the top of the tower is very informative and emotional. Up inside the interior is modern due to its recent renovation. The view from the top is also amazing.
MoreDignified and inspiring experience.
A Touch of the history, traces of Balkan war
Very impressive to visit the water tower. Also there was a nice cafe and very clean toilets.
MoreThere are two ticket options (elevator or stairs). Both floors (including topare wheelchair accessible. Sunset view was outstanding, tickets a bit overpriced, though.
MoreHistory... memories... Forgive but don t forget
The highlight of the town. Best view and quick historic overview.
What a view. A little bit expensive, but excellent view. Satisfied.
One really important monument of Croatian Unity in Vukovar! 200 stairs you have to take to the top of the tower and would recommend everyone to take the stairs for the real experience! Extra ordinary feeling 😌when you are on the top of the tower! Tower was made with donations! Highly recommended if you find yourself in this area! Staff very friendly!
MoreGreat place to see :)
Must visit place for every Croatian citizen and for any person who wants to know the thruth about the war in Croatia!
MoreStill not visible behind scaffolding when we visited in 2019, yet important reminder of civilian victims of civil war. Earlier photos show the dramatic destruction from bombing by Serbia, and the symbolic statement made by the many un-repaired buildings (like the nearby railroad station.in Vukovar."
MoreToo bad it was in construction, otherwise very beautiful historical monument.
A symbol of Croatian spirit, resistance, defiance and invincibility in the face of overwhelming Serbian aggression. The famous Vukovar Water Tower. It was struck by over 600 Serb artillery shells during the 1991 siege of Vukovar, and was heavily damaged, but was not destroyed. It is now being restored internally but the outside will not be repaired to remind people of the tragedy of Vukovar.
MoreAn impressive monument that used to have a restaurant before the war. Last line of defense and as such currently in renovation. Would be great to come over in a year again and see the progress.
More18 November is Remembrance Day of Vukovar sacrifice in 1991, the tribute to all the participants of the defence of Vukovar, the symbol of the Croatian freedom.Vukovar water tower was built in 1968. With height of 50.33 m and capacity of 2200 m3 it was one of the largest facilities of its type in Europe. Until the beginning of the war, there was a restaurant with a panoramic view of Vukovar,Danube and Syrmia.During the Serbian aggression it was one of the most common target for enemy artillery receiving more than 600 hits. Now it is the monument of the Croatian War of Independence.
