Volcanoes National Park Headquarters - National park in Kabale, Uganda
Volcanoes National Park Headquarters in Kabale
Description
Privilege
We did the Bisoke hike which is very NOT recommended in my opinion. Slippery, too long and doesnt worth the hard efforts
MoreI Dont know anything about this place, but after watching Nomadic Indians vlog, I truly look forward to travel here once in my life.
MoreWell organized, great experiences with all guides we encountered. 3 days of gorillas and 1 day golden monkeys.
MoreEffing Awesome. Worth the cost, journey and effort to trek with the 🦍 Gorillas. A conservation effort that is thriving and working.
MoreEverything available even online and free tea for everyone in the morning is a bonus!!
MoreThe whole experience was incredible from start to finish. Cant wait to return
Great experience, great view of volcanoes, the breeze, and the gorilla naming place is beautiful.
MoreThis headquarter offers excellent service to the guests going on a tour. Gorilla and Golden monkeys trekking and Hiking activities are the main tourist activities in the park.
MoreVolcanoes National Park our second home
This the best mountians to hike in Africa...but only for true mountaineers!
Gorilla tracking at Volcanoes National Park is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I hope I get to experience more than once in my lifetime. We enjoyed our 1 hour 20 minute trek up the volcano and found a handful of gorillas and silverbacks from the Kwisanga family eating and exploring their habitat. This is an experience I will never forget. Making eye contact with a gorilla is a surreal experience that is imprinted in my mind.
MoreJust took pictures but didnt entre the park as its sooooooo expensive
A very beautfull place
It is a really nice experience to visit the park. We did not get the gorilla permit but hiked Mt Bisoke, and even saw a Gorilla on the way up. Our problem was finding a way to go from the headquarter to the start of the hike, since the headquarter does not offer transport. If you booked over an organized safari the transport is normally included but in our case we had to take a taxi which was quite expensive. However, if you travel alone you will most likely find the possibility to get a ride there since many cars still have one place left.

MoreLove the coffee station there plus great organisation and clean bathrooms 🌟🌟
MoreIt was a great experience. But Road to bisoke need to be done..
We had a great briefing before gorilla trekking at RDB volcanoes National park Headquarter In Kinigi
MoreUnbelievable experience. Well coordinated. Loved seeing the golden monkeys and going on the gorilla trek. PCR covid test within 72hrs required. Testing on site $50ea. Masks required when near primates to help prevent transmission of Covid. Staff was friendly. Guides were excellent! We had Daniel and Augustin for golden Monkey trek and Ferdinand for the Gorilla Trek. The porters were amazing help. Don’t forget to tip your trackers, porter, and guides.
MoreA distination of its kind, a park that gives you to understand our orgin
I was so excited to be there. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had Mr Fidel as our guide and he is the best. Our experience visiting the gorillas is a memorable one.
MoreThe office is actually only open in the morning. Dont expect to find someone other than the security guards there in the afternoon. When you arrive in the morning before your activity there is a vibe: Coffee, music and they are very organised. The road that takes you to the park is paved and in a very good condition.Plan to pay for your activity either online or at the bamk beforehand. You need your own 4X4 transport to the start of the Mt Bisoke hike. It is a long an difficult drive. The fee for a porter is 10 USD for the day. Take one. The guide knows what they are taking about when they recommend them. Gaitors are a gem, you will be knee deep in mud. They provide one walking stick per person. The park itself is beyind beautifull and well protected.
MoreWe came to see lava flow at night, then early morning the 2nd before sunrise. It worths the effort. Highly recommend to see lava flows at night and during the day
MoreFantastic jungle trekking and gorilla experience. Once in a life time, bucket list, must do experience. Very experienced and knowledgeable guides. Done in a sustainable, environmentally friendly and respectful of the animals way. You get close but are kept away from touching or directly interacting with these magnificent animals. Well worth the cost. (Note the trekking can be tough. It is more treacherous than strenuous, and watch out for the stinging nettle!!)
MoreBeen there for Fam trip it is a nice park with the specialized tour guides
Best experience ever, workers and employees knows their job,Very clean entrance, free coffee, free wifi! Mountains looks great, will come back for more for sure
MoreA wonderful experience to visit mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Great work by Volcanoes National Park to provide this opportunity and help protect gorillas and the forest
MoreStarting point for any visit to the mountain 🏔️ gorillas or golden monkeysExcellent organisation and very professionalAccess to gorillas through easy medium or long trecks with almost guarantee to see the gentle giantsSpecial mention for the quality of the guides and rangers all very knowledgeable and strongly committed to safety of both humans and animals
MoreThe starting point of all activities in the national parks:Well managed and with COVID-test structure, really helpful and kind all the staff.
MoreThis is a nice place, and it has an amazing volcanoes view
The national park speaks for itself - absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing - but the headquarters itself is worth a shout out. Super well-organized and welcoming. We had some issues with our permit and the staff were really proactive in taking on the problem and resolving it, while making sure it didn’t impact our experience there at all. We felt well taken care of. P.S. don’t forget to grab a drink at Question Coffee - amazing coffee!
MoreWorth-visiting Once in a Life-Time place. The very presence at the place makes one go eccentric,Awe-inspiring work of Nature,Cool Breeze & Serene surroundings make one go mad with Nature. Also the upkeep of the place by Rwanda Development Board deserves Many Congrats.Love to stay for some days becomes the wish of whoever happen to visit this place.Just Mesmerizing indeed.
MoreTruly amazing experience, once in a lifetime must visit. Gracious and magnificent family of Gorillas. It is a tad bit expensive but considering what is being done with our money for the welfare of the Gorillas as well as the local community, it is definitely worth it. Big salute to all for taking care of these endangered mountain gorillas.
MoreAmazing staff and service! From the driver, office people, the guide and everyone involved in Musanze/Kinigi site. I arrived at the site with incomplete information, but They took care of everything and made sure that everything went smooth. Gorilla trekking was one of the best experience I have even done, and I will recommend anyone to try at least once!!!
MoreIts amazing the well organization of this place. Specially in COVID times. Bring little money for tips, is well received.
MoreA so freshening place with a cool volcanoes and twin lakes breeze!
Beautiful place... had a lovely visit to the volcano mountains
Amazing National park, one of the best National Parks I have ever been to.Very clean and well organized by the government.Beautiful animals in the forest.
MoreGreat experience. Especially in this covidetime. On the trip to gorillas we were only 2. Yes, it is horrible expensive, but you have to feel it as a sponsoring than entrance fee. I give a respect to all people here. They are doing a great job. Have a good luck.
MoreVery beautiful, good climate, natural environments
It is nice place and good adventure but is too much expensive1500$ for visiting just 2 or 3 hours as maximum, which is too much
MoreThey have good services, from the Park Management to Porters are professionals.I loved that while briefling tourists can have free coffee and other soft drinks.I encourage them to keep doing the good work especially in conservation of Mountain Gorillas and other species as well as their environment.
MoreIt my first time in Jungle but i am feel fine and I am very happy to See that volcanoes national park
MoreThe park is home to Great apes -Mountain Gorillas. Visit the destination for Gorilla trekking experience. Travel with me for a unique memorable experience
MoreWe made hiking on Mt. Bisoke. Go there at 7am and you can join. Everyone are going together. Only one group a day. No need of booking through company. Entrance fee is payed by card and transportation in cash.
MoreYou can have a nice view from the park headquarters, serving tea and coffee before trekking is also enjoyable
MoreAwesome experience with Special gorilla family. Respect them. In their environment.
MoreOn way to volcano mountain Gorilla .We were inthe of Intambara group, not too far from Dian flossy tomb.Happy we were,at 11h:00 we have finished spotting Gorillas.
MoreMore professional than its equivalent in Uganda, this is where gorilla treks begin. There are other hikes that can be undertaken too.
MoreBucket list stuff.A surprising cross-section of people have told me how special, even life-changing, seeing mountain gorillas was, but even so I was a little skeptical. The new pricing is nuts ($1,500 per person per dayand its quite a hike to get to the corner of Rwanda/Uganda/DRC so I wasnt 100% sure the effort was worth the 60 minutes we hoped to spend with the gorillas. I was wrong. It was really cool. We ended up spending 2 days with two different families (Mr. Lucky and Mr Special were the silverbacksand had tons of very up-close and personal encounters. The guides will tell you 7 meters; were were much, much closer without trying to be pushy or crowd the apes. Thank goodness they are mellow, because the silverbacks are HUGE.Both days the guides were great. Its also wonderful to actually see a population of threatened animals actually increasing too (however expensive or hyper-managed.A few pieces of advice: Buy your permits ahead of time! Clearing credit card payments from the site can be hugely frustrating (from both the Rwanda processing and US bank/credit card acceptance aspects). Clear your travel plans with your bank and CC company before going. Take lots of Rwanda francs or US dollars for tipping guides, porters and trackers.
