Volcano House in Piton Saint-Leu

Learned a lot at this museum about Réunion and volcanoes. Worth the stop! It is also appreciated and very helpful that almost all of the displays and videos have an English translation option.

A nice museum, but not sure if worth the price

Interactive, interesting, professional. All in French at the door and staff there not helpful if you dont speak French. For instance: we tried to access the translate/guide app but found it impossible. Were told the information video is only available in French, went upstairs where a total sweety said that it is in fact available in English, left her post to go downstairs and organise it for us. Wish the rest of the staff were as helpful. The quick 4D video was also a blast. Even if you are only a little bit interested in volcanos, go to Volcano House, its very informative. And lets face it, volcanos are what Reunion is about.

This is a nice museum with a lot of interaction also suitable for kids. When we came out, the vulcano was actually active moth a lot of smoke.

Very interesting and interactive museum. All digital exhibits are also available in English, for everything else you either need French skills or have to get the audio guide.

It‘s ok…some nice informations, not too big and sometimes it feels a bit dated. Skip the 4D Cinema, for which you have to pay extra and it‘s just some silly 4D experience movie, which maybe was cool 15 years ago for kids.

Visite sympathique et très intéressante. On en apprend beaucoup. A faire absolument le cinéma 4D : on se croyait presque à Disneyland Paris !!! Petite boutique de souvenirs à la fin de la visite : on y trouve des petites choses à des prix intéressants.

Très bon musée, ça fait la 3ième fois que je le visite et je ne mennui pas car il y a toujours des choses intéressantes à savoir sur comment lîle est née. Cest très bien expliqué de sorte à ce que tout le monde comprend. Juste déçu que le film 4d soit le même depuis 10 ans. Sinon lanimation panoramique était très intéressante. Cest un endroit où il y a beaucoup de lecture, donc pour les petits, le tour est vite fait.

Very nice interactive museum about volcanoes in general with an obvious emphasis on Piton de la fournaise. Most displays are both in English and French, which is rare. People tend to spend 1 hour and a half.

Magnifique soirée Star Wars du Samedi 14 Avril avec la cité du volcan et les Voyageurs des Étoiles : Cosplay, initiation au sabre laser, duel, jeux de blaster en équipe, ciné 4D, décors et personnels au top merci a tous 🙏

one of the best and most interactive museums I have visited so far! A lot of things are translated in English as well (a rare thing in France ;). Lots of fun for kids but for adults as well. Worth a visit for sure, can only recommend!

A really well made museum explaining in details how Reunion island is born from 2 volcanoes, with content suitable for both kids and adults. Lots of interactive screens and a great visit with a very satisfactory sense of learning. Highly recommended!

Very interactive museum.

Musée assez intéressant, prix de lentrée raisonnable, gratuite pour les -4 ans. Pas mal de supports (panorama 270, quizz sur ecran, videos, constructions, 3dpour découvrir les volcans et lhistoire de lîle 🇷🇪 juste dommage que la séance de cinéma 4d soit interdite pour les enfants, du coup nous navons pas pu la faire. La ludothèque est bien et personnel très gentil !

Un super lieu à visiter avec les enfants à condition quils soient un peu débrouillards. Des vidéos interactives mais aussi pas mal de lecture les attendent. Sinon la visite peut se faire sans guide, le circuit est balisé et facile daccès, même pour les personnes à mobilité réduite ou en fauteuil. Pas déçu de la visite.

Very nice demonstration and explication, as good and interactive for both adults and children. The 4D cinema brings a nice touch at the end of the visit and the boutique has also a nice collection of items, books and hiking gears. The entrance offers to see the work of local artists. We did it on the way back from the volcano, which I believe is better due to either the high sun or the rain. Loads of restaurants and snack places around too. Takes about 1h to complete, more if you read everything in details.

Very good interactive exhibition about Volcanos. All video shows are also available in English. 5 stars!

A nice exhibit. Especially for kids. Worth a visit in the afternoon, especially if it’s raining.

Really nice and interesting place. I was here for about 3 hours. Most signs are in French, some also English. But they have an audioguide available in many languages(I took Germanand also most Videos are available in English. Entry with short 4d Film and audioguide 13€

Nice and informative

Very good service with a wide variety of quality food. They have metropolitan and creole food (especially "carris"). The portions were well balanced in terms of quantity and were just perfect to enjoy from the first until the last bite.

4D movie was great. It is worth only to experience this event.

Great museum with lots of memorabilia

Went there with 5 people, was somewhat expensive.Had the audioguide (2€ extra per person), it wasnt made very good but it was sufficient. Nice movies all with either subtitles in English or even completely translated. Especially interesting if you were at the volcano before.

Free, fascinating and well worth a look. Ask for the video film with English subtitles.

Mind-blowing exhibitions & info. You can easily spend a whole day here. The 4D cinema is super cool. Definitely recommended, preferably before going to the volcano or doing the tunnels under the lava. Everything is available in English too!

Good place to visit while on the island. Full of interesting information. Expensive gift shop.

Nice and informative place, if you are intetested in Vulcano history on the island. No english explanation, though. Pitty. Btw, there is only about 45 min drive with a car to get to the Vulcano itself, from this place.

Tour excursion during our one.day stay on MSC cruise ship from Durban. Over an hour interesting bus trip to Volcano sight. Due to inclement weather did not get off the bus to see the sight. Was told that visibility would not be good as well.

Interesting museum explaining how volcanoes work and the origins of the island.A little bit oriented towards kids, but interesting overall. (9 Euros as of July 2017)

Exhibits lack English explanations so you probably should get the audio guide.
