Vizcaya Village in Cutler Bay

This is one of those places that you’re so happy it exists and you kind of hope that nothing like it ever happens again.Massive. Elegant. The epitome of life in excess.Whereas Bok Tower gardens is a place of elegance and peace, this estate is a place of power, status, and imagination. Truly a castle in a modern country. It’s amazing. It just kept going. Well worth a visit if you like exploring the fruits of the wealthy of yesteryear.It’s been a couple days since I’ve been and I still am amazed by everything I saw there.

The visit to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is my favorite part of my trip to Miami. I love the courtyard garden and the beautiful ocean view. Glad they enclosed the courtyard and blasted the AC cause it was HOT when I visited! Great place to take pictures.

Stunning European architecture and beautiful garden in thee we middle of Miami downtown! A “remote” water front property in 1920 stands still through history and change. The open concept of courtyard and balcony was so unique that blend indoor outdoor together perfectly. Ladies bring your beautiful skirts to here to take glamorous shots! Highly recommend it!

Beautiful landscape, unique decor and tons of history packed into this place. Lots of art decor and history. The complimentary audio tour provides a great selection paced tool too explore this marvelous mansion. Tons of nooks and crannies to explore. The gardens are breathtaking and beautiful. Between the main building, the gazebo, and the gardens, there is no lack of photo opportunities. Spent hours exploring and enjoyed every minute.

We absolutely loved this place. Takes several hours at least to walk through everything. If you appreciate history, it is money well spent. Costs $27 per adult. The audio tour was great! Unique and Interesting architecture, everything is kept and maintained very nicely! So much to see. Some of the most beautiful gardens I have seen, I especially loved the Orchidarium. If you are in the area, worth seeing this beautiful place!

Very elaborate for its time! The Decor was was amazing. Every room had its own decor with little subtleties that tied everything together. The mansion was cutting edge technology for the Era.The gardens and fountains were bigger than I had imagined. I wish that they could have been taken care of more than they were. I understand that maintaining everything is very costly; so hopefully in time they will be.Well worth seeing to admire!

This was an awesome museum/garden to come and visit! I took my siblings here around 10:30am and they enjoyed every bit of it. I recommend buying tickets online so getting into the museum is quicker since they just scan it at the window. When we walked through the museum, all of the rooms had signs with educational descriptions about their history and some fun facts about them. Everything was neat and tidy and it was a pretty big museum to walk through. After walking around the museum we headed outside and then walked through the garden as well. The garden was maintained very nicely and there are many picture spots to roam around. Every angle of the garden looked amazing and many spots were also wheelchair accessible with ramps. There are also restrooms and water fountains at the corner of the garden. I recommend going earlier around opening time if you like taking photos since it got pretty packed around the time we were leaving. Ill definitely be making a trip back here to show my parents!

One of my favorite places I’ve been too since Oahu. It’s super well taken care of & you can tell his belongings are treasured & respected. Super grateful he allowed his home to be visited by the public! Never been to a place like it 😍 definitely haunted & a awesome place for pictures. Regretting not taking my silly sandals off 😂

Beautiful place and something different to see and experience in Miami. Huge part of city history. Staff is lovely, knowledgeable and helpful. Took us around 2 hours to see everything slowly, and to go around garden and take a pictures. As we visited in July was humid but it was ok, not too much.

What a beautiful historic place to visit. James was an Italian rich guy who imported all of the material from Europe to built this mansion where he spent every summer from 1916-1925. Doors, floors, fountains, details. At the time he built this place there was a population of 5000 people in Miami and 2,500 of them worked in that house. The house is designed with advanced technology based on the time that it was built. They had Intercom connected from the bedroom and many rooms in the house that allowed the residents to order what they need.

I fell in love with this place - if you didn’t know any better, you would think you are in another world other than Miami. The MetroRail is close by - there is plenty of parking. You can buy your ticket at the booth by scanning a code or prior to arrival. When I got there, many of the fountains were turned off and it was very hot but nonetheless the beauty of this place remains. So much to see and can’t wait to go back when the casino roof is restored to see that part of the museum!

Additional parking across the street at the former museum.One of my favorite places to get away and relax… the gardens are nice to walk around but the summer time is way too humid and hott.They have put a roof and a/c in the main house which helps during your summer visit. Currently they’re doing a lot of renovations/upkeep/construction to the house.

We live Right across the street, over at the other Mansion on the other side, its currently being renovated and under construction. We thought it would just be nice to walk around the outside of the museum since The Gates are open, while the staff was just preparing to open the rest of the amenities. Well, we didnt even get to have a good experience, although we came here with good intentions for celebrating our Independence Weekend. We walked through the nature trail that leads towards the museum, which was absolutely splendid, however we were asked to leave when we finally arrived at the museum. All we wanted to do is literally walk by the front of it and take a few photographs, and we did. I actually told the attendant my self, and he knows we are professionals. However, we felt very disrespected and disappointed, because the attendant said that dogs are not allowed inside the museum, even though we were only on the outside lot, and they were literally about to open in 15 minutes. We just wanted to see how and what it was like before entering for an actual event. After living here for many years, right infront of your museum, this is how you treat your neighbors, who happen to be prominent people in the entertainment and corporated industry?? Well, were just going to have to pass on this museum this Independence Weekend, and theres another Reason we never stepped inside, and you all know very well. We are stakeholders and sponsors who are fully vested in Corporate America, and this location is one of our top main focuses at the moment because of demographics. Expect us soon, Thank you.

It is beautiful. You really get a feeling of how they lived back then. So many wonderful details like the ceilings. The gardens are organized but yet so wild. I saw so many different types of lizards running around plus a raccoon and a duck. At least I think it was a duck.Also, very importantly, the visitors bathroom was very comfortable and clean. A big plus!

Amazing experience! Great house and gardens. Even if you’re not into rich people things, there is just so much to feast the eye here. Objects you would normally only see in a museum - pieces dating back to the renaissance. Gardens are beautiful and full of orchids, lily’s, roses, and sculptures. Tour is a steal for $5, cafe food is delish. Tickets on-line before arrival, worth the price, this is an all day outing

This Miami landmark is certainly worth seeing. It has deep rooted history and iconic art in its architecture. But the place is quite old and in many ways it shows so its beauty seems only from a distance. Its rich history and decadence comes from years passed. Today you should say, yes Ive been there.You need to be able to walk up stairs. No elevators I could see. It didnt appear wheel chair friendly. Air conditioned interior (thank you). Very friendly and helpful staff. Tours available. Nice gift shop and nice cafe with good selections fairly priced with adequate table space inside and outdoors. And with handicap access. Great place to rest and go for round two to complete your visit if needed. If weather is right the Gardens are a wonderful place to meditate or just relax and enjoy the scenery. Parking could be a challenge on a busy day (several small lots that close even when there are available spaces which forces you to walk farther to the entrance). Tickets on line only even with an admission ticket booth. I dont understand why you just cant give a credit card right there. Discounts but not for seniors.

This place gets 5 stars without question. The tickets are purchased online and only $25. Something to do for the day that’s inexpensive, learn history and take plenty of memorable photos. You have access to the mansion and the garden of this visit. I say you may need to take out minimum 4 hours of your time to see everything this place has to offer. I went on a hot day and walking through the garden was torture. Thank goodness I brought my small umbrella. I took over 100 pics that day, LOL! Definitely going back with a larger group of friends!

The whole place is really interesting. Is fun to imagine those times when someone will arrive to a place and say "yeah, Ill build an insane mansion here; makes sense to me".I will say this is one of those place that you need to love history and such to enjoy it. I think Im the only one of my friends and family that has ever been to this place as everyone goes to Miami for 1000 more reasons than to see this museum.Still, if you have the chance, give it some love. Just know what youre getting into

This place was super cool! I loved feeling the experience of Europe within America, and the owners dream become a reality for us. It’s always fun to imagine it during a time that was being used as intended.I think a more reasonable price would be no more than $15 personally, not really sure it’s worth the price unless you’re spending a considerable amount of hours there, or have spent a lot of time in Miami and want something new to do.We were able to quickly go through it within about 1 hour time — not stopping too much, but enough time to enjoy.We’ve been to other estates where they hired period actors to make the place feel alive for similar price, so I think that’s a baseline to compare. How cool if people were playing the piano and harp and some people playing poker etc that’s worth $25 level imoStill had a great time, and glad we were able to finally go! Just know what you’re getting and you won’t be disappointed

This is an amazing indoor out door museum, showing off how the ultra rich lived in the early 1900s. You have to purchase tickets online. Give yourself 4-5 hours for a complete experience with few breaks. 6 out 5 stars.

It was great experience to see this measure and garden on Sunday . I would recommended to come there right it’s I open before it gets crowded. I think it amazing property and gardeners. We stopped by to get a lunch break at the cafe there was pretty good and relaxing. Recommended

Great place to visit for a morning walk in their beautiful and well maintained gardens. The gardens are so beautiful a lot of people go there for photoshoots. I saw at least 6 photoshoots taking place on a Wednesday morning, thats busy it gets. Parking is free. They operate 9:30, I would recommend getting there as soon as they open to avoid the crowds and beat the heat. Most of the gardens are in the back area behind (on the left side of the main entrance building).

This is one of the historical jewels of Miami. I enjoy visiting Vizcaya as the gardens are always well kept. I always find interesting plants like a species of orchid I had never seen before. The most beautiful stag horn fern I’ve seen is there. It has great views to downtown and Key Biscayne. It’s always a treat.

Vizcaya is a great place to visit if you’re into historic aspects and old mansions.It is one of the non club related items to check out in Miami.There is free parking on the property or across the lot (signage is present).You are required to purchase tickets online in advance, or else you end up standing to purchase them on your phone at the gate.It is affordable.The gardens are grand and a site to see.We saw many individuals doing photo shoots there.The actual house is a gorgeous mansion that has been well kept, and has a lot of good information and tid bits on its history and the history of the times.There is a little cafe that houses a gift shop and drinks and food if you’re in need of a break.You can also do a guided tour or a virtual tour using your phone and ear buds or headphones, scanning each QR code as indicated on a walk around by yourself.I thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Both the house and the gardens are sublime and very well maintained. The place is very relaxing compared to the rest of Miami. It allows you to immerse yourself a little in the life of the Robber Barons of the beginning of the 20th century. The price is reasonable for a Miami attraction and parking is free.

Well worth the cost of admission and a great way to spend a few hours while visiting Miami. If you happen to choose to see the garden before you go into the mansion, note that its nice and cool inside and dont try to do the whole garden at once.Definitely download the app that includes the audio tour (its free). You can do it in any order and the extra information provides great context to what you are seeing in each part of the museum. So many things we would have overlooked!The small cafe has great options for coffee, snacks and lunch so if you didnt eat before your visit, dont worry or rush to get out as you can eat a full meal there off their menu which has great meat and veggie options.All the staff were super nice and courteous. What an amazing place.

Very beautiful place. The gardens are spectacular! Went with my mom and husband. Wonderful place for an afternoon with family. I would give it 5 stars except you need to purchase your ticket online prior to entering, even though they have people working an admission booth. There were about 12 people all standing outside the booth trying to purchase tickets on their phones (including us). Then you show your email to the person in the booth who grants access. Other than that it was a perfect afternoon.

Stunning gardens and ornate museum! If you are looking for a place to get great pictures in Miami, this is the place to go! Dont forget to bring a change of clothes. So many different spaces to capture. You can take advantage of the free listening tour, book a guided tour or wander around at your leisure. Plan for a couple of hours if you want to really see everything, otherwise you may feel a bit rushed. Make sure to book your tickets online first. Makes the entry process so efficient.

Very cool! I loved visiting. Beautiful home and gardens. Great info throughout with context on the lives of the family.Very busy and kind of pricey at $25 per ticket. There were a bunch of older people who didn’t get the concept of a digital ticket so that held up the line, we probably had to wait 20 minutes for a process that could have taken 5. Maybe fire signage or a separate line for those that need assistance?Also man, I got so sweaty exploring the gardens haha. More water fountains would have been appreciated but that might just be a me-thing. Inside the home was air conditioned which was nice, lots of places to sit and appreciate the architecture. It was very busy when I visited so we had to wait to read some info or see in to some rooms. We went on Sunday and we’re there around 11 so definitely prime time for this experience.

Sometimes the yelp pictures are better than real life.... Not here. Museum & Gardens is truly one of the most elegant gems of Miami. Im a big fan of history and architecture, but this property is beyond ornate, anyone can appreciate its beauty.We planned our visit ahead and ended up choosing a monsoon of a day which meant we wouldnt be able to enjoy the garden portion. Since it was a large part of our visit, i contacted their staff about honoring our tickets on a day with better weather and we were accommodated a few days later.The property consists of the most incredibly-constructed facade and interior, acres of walkable garden, outdoor pool, and of course a water-view with a (human-madesunken ship. As it is a lot to navigate through, (if youre stopping to read the informationyoull probably have seen it all within an hour or two. Definitely worth the read, as the property has an interesting story!Would definitely return as Im sure there are new things Id notice within the home. 10/10 worth the visit!!

Beautiful area to visit in Miami. The gardens and oak trees are amazing to see. I loved my time outdoors and being so close to the water. Lizards were everywhere outside!The museum was interesting. It was a rich guys old house with lots of expensive antiques and historical furnitureGift shop and cafe had some tasty drinks and snacks inside, although a bit expensive

Really amazing house with so many different rooms with such decor! Amazed that they thought of such style back then. The garden area is huge and it used to be so much bigger of a spot of land that housed all the staff that would take care of the house and gardens. Almost like a small village. A must see spot if you enjoy history and beauty of older styles of houses and the way people lived in the past!

Wonderful little spot. See a mansion built in the early 1900s designed to look like a classic European estate. Incredible details available and a free audio tour. Gardens and grounds are beautiful and the manor was lavish. The entire staff was exceedingly kind, they even let us leave our luggage at the front with their staff since we were exploring for the day before a flight.

Its an amazing house, the gardens left me out of breath. I would definitely recommend for pictures, I dont know about event and their rules. But if they rent the place for parties, I would definitely have my engagement there.

This mansion and it’s surrounding gardens really make you feel like you’ve been thrown right into a movie. I loved walking around and seeing the opulence. It made for many a good picture opportunity. There were so many well-groomed gardens that it took a few hours to properly appreciate them all. Learning about the history of the mansion was fulfilling and made you think about the opulence of the elite. During our visit, we also ate at the cafe. Rather expensive, but it was worth it, given our secluded dining area we sat in. (If given the option to eat at one of the two tables next to the pool, take it.Although entry itself is expensive, I still recommend taking time out of any visit to the Miami Area to visit Vizcaya if you are interested in natural beauty or wealth.

Its worth every penny!- Ticket was $25, and you can only buy them online. The villa was built in the 1920s and was a technologically advanced house for that era. The architecture is from the Italian renaissance period with a modern touch.Exquisitely preserved and very impressive, this residence was established with the primary goal of entertaining guests.Beautiful architecture and interior with amazingly well-preserved furniture, tapestries, and murals.The gardens are stunning and magnificently maintained. Morning is the best time to go; there are fewer people in the morning, so I recommend planning for the morning on a week day to avoid crow.Manatees were around the docks! We didnt do the audio tour; the information on the placards is good enough to tell the history of its construction and some environmental factors that threaten it today! Theres a cafe shop on site, and the food is okay.The walk through the gardens is pretty level, with occasional stairs. A dream place for photographers, art and architecture lovers, and history buffs. The villa has featured in several movies and is also a top wedding destination. Expect to spend around 1.5 to 2 hours fully exploring the mansion and gardens. The Museum closes around 4.30 pm.

Literally my favorite favorite place in Miami! Such an amazing mansion, with great water view and great indoor and outdoor architecture! I just loved the garden and all the beautiful details of it. This place looked like a heaven I would love to live an eternity in!!! There were many brides and many influencer taking pictures there and I, with my rock themed clothes, was so sad that I wasnt wearing anything fancy to be more picture worthy for this place! I will go back with lots of make up and a fancy dress.Moral of story, WEAR FANCY clothes to this place, you wont regret it!

Very impressive house and gardens close to Miami, beautiful location. The history of the house is very interesting and also has a very good cafe. Entry is by online tickets only although theres wifi at the entrance to be able to buy tickets if not bought in advance

A wonderful tourist attraction showcasing a Gilded Age fusion of old Europe with South Florida panache. Beautiful estate indoors and out, but be forewarned: traversing the grounds may be challenging for seniors due to a network of steps and stairways. Otherwise, enjoy Vizcaya!

It was a beautiful day. We spent about 2+ hours roaming around the gardens & inside the house. We worked up an appetite so we headed into the little Cafe & ordered a couple cuban style sandwiches, drinks & coffee.

Great place, great weather. Food was a bit pricey for me, but not a big deal. Garden was also great. The water view was beautiful. The museum itself was very interesting with much history. Would recommend.

The ticket price is absolutely worth the experience. Gorgeous mansion turned museum with fairytale garden and grounds. Absolutely shocked this was available to walk through in its entirety. Definitely recommend for a day date.

This was an amazing experience!! I was blown away by how romantic and well kept this place is. I went alone and took in the beauty (well my phone died halfway through!but it made me really appreciate the detail as well as people watch. This is very worth it for $25 in fact I’m connected f back to Miami just to experience it again. It felt like I had stepped into a city in Europe! Don’t pass up the opportunity to see this place. The number one place to come and visit in Miami. It’s an oasis of beauty and nature in Miami. Buoy at the turn of the last century, Vizcaya is a true architectural and artistic gem. Italianate villa build in the Miami Everglades when Miami only had 10,000 residents. The museum is well cared for and is stunning. We’ll worth a visit. Parking is easy and you simply buy your tickets online prior to entering.

Beautiful home and gardens. The architecture and history is incredible. The food at the cafe is very good. Lots of walking, so wear good shoes. Plus, have to buy tickets online before hand. The tickets and food are very pricey. We went on New Year’s Eve, so the tickets were higher than usual.

As someone who loves architecture, I have been wanting to come here for a while and this place did not disappoint. Lovely outdoor gardens scattered with truly unique structures set against the waterfront. I loved the small maze garden we came across and the fountain with tiny lily pads. Its obvious great care was taken to create and maintain this historic site. We went around 10:30 a.m. and it got hot pretty quickly so the coolness of the home was welcome. Also delightful to see how well-preserved the place is and to learn about the story behind it. Felt very COVID-safe walking in larger open spaces. We didnt opt for the guided tour but probably would do next time we visit. Would be hard to tour and view the whole space on just one visit. And wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses. and sunscreen. Worth a visit if youre visiting Miami for a long weekend.

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. It’s basically just a mansion with beautiful scenery both outdoors and inside. The experience is more about seeing rather than doing. What I would recommend is that you throw on a nice outfit and make sure your phone/camera is fully charged so that you can take plenty of pictures. It’s the kind of place where anywhere you stand has a magnificent view.
