This place is wonderful. You can see a variety of animals you may have not seen before. Only thing that i didnt like is the wait time due to the limitation of activities.

Extremely small, very few animals. Clearly not cared for, so really bad smell all over the zoo . Disappointing

A lot of animals. Tickets are cheap. A good place to come with children.

Compared to other zoos in the area - nothing spectacular at all. Lizard and snake area was probably the best in the vivarium. Otherwise a bit empty. On the positive note, it doesnt take too much time to see everything and if one only has a couple of hours or less - it can be a tempting option to go to.

Good small zoo with many different kinds of animals. The cages are okay, not too small but I think some could be improved a little bit. Also liked the peacocks.

There are some restrictions due to Covid19, ex: only 5 people are allowed inside of buildings. There were quite a lot of people on the weekend therefore at some places there was a long queue. Also there are some renovations ongoing that closed an area and coused narrow pathways around. We were with a small baby with buggy, it wasnt really much enjoyable due to the crowd.

Really nice little Zoo. Good place to take out kids to in Darmstadt. Accepting no Visa/Mastercard cards (which is strange for a touristic attraction)Upate March 2022: Still not accepting non-German cards. If you pay with German Girocard you receive a charge that has no reference whatsoever to Vivarium as per screenshot below. Someone should really review their payment setup…

I took my daughter there she had a blast. I was surprised how many animals they had but we had an amazing time. Will definitely go back with some of her friends.

Great Layout, really nice for kids, but some of the buildings need a little TLC.

Good Selection of animals, great place for little kid and sometimes you can get an peacock feather.

Atleast for this visit it wasnt attractive enough for the children. As not everything was open and not all the animals were available as listed. Aquarium water also was not lightened properly to see fishes. I hope that they can improve. There were enough visitors. So hopefully they will be able to earn and invest for the betterment. Mostly birds were there. The animals which we dont have in europe were missing. Kangaroo was just written over there but not present. Goats were attractive as the children were able to even brush them on their back.

Small zoo but very family friendly. Very recommend for family with kids until 7 years old.

Always good for small kids. Really cheap compared to main zoos and a good selection of animals.

They take a lot of care to give the animals wide and natural areas to live in. It also seems like they do not have exotic animals just for the sake of it, but take the preservation and protection very seriously. Right now, due to Corona, a lot was closed off - we will definitely come back, once its possible to see all areas again!

Perfect for younger children. There’s a playground and café and baby changing facilities in both male and female toilets. There are events where children can watch feeding and animals where you can go among them and use the brushes to brush them

Fun place to go

Im not a big fan of zoos because the caged animal make me sad.That being said the Vivarium is a great place for an afternoon! There is a lot of interactive things to do. You can get really close to the animals and even pet some.

Great place for spending time with your family.

Hard pass! Only about 1/3 of exhibits were open. If you only have a credit card get ready for a long walk to an ATM for admittance.

The kids love it but its a little small for a zoo

They should call it an xxl farm so people are not disappointed when they visit. Its not that bad for a farm but its definitely not a zoo either.

Fair selection of animals including various birds, including vultures, emu, owls, eagles, pink flamingos, seaside section. A good aquarium and snake/lizard area. Other animals of note, zebra, porqupine, kangeroo. Good access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. very well priced entry. Food area serving hot and cold meals.Animals and animal enclosures look well cared for. Petting area. Good place to take the kids for a couple of hours. Parking at the zoo can fill quickly and is limited but free. Alternative parking with easy access to the zoo along Eugen-Kogon Strasse.

I had an excellent day there with my daughter. As zoos go, its not big and doesnt have the most exotic animals, but she did not care. And all the environments for the animals are nicely created and maintained, with a good amount of space. Being a little smaller, theres also no fear of missing out - the entire place can be taken in in a day, with a break in the cafe area and playground. Its great!

Lovely small zoo, perfect for small children. Nice cafe and great playground. We loved the dwarf otters and the fennec foxes

Expensive place to visit. Entrance ticket is way too high as compared to other places. Spielplatz is smaller. No special activities for kids under 3

This zoo is a nice place to take children. Its fairly small, and I believe its in the process of being improved, but it still makes for a lovely family trip when visiting Darmstadt.

Wunderbare Erfahrung! This zoo has a wide variety of animals, some of which Id never seen before, including wild Stalks nesting in the trees. Good price, very clean and nicely put together!
