Viva O Viva Goa - Goan restaurant in New Delhi, India
A very awesome place for food lovers. Especially for non veg
Amazing rooms, close to most of the monuments.
Comfortable n Centrally located. Staff very cordial n hospitable. Will want to return in future.
Only for Goans. Rs. 1000 for official basis. Rs. 2000 for private. Location is excellent
The canteen service is closed for outsiders.
Okay, so I concentrated on the sea food, being goa and all. The dishes i tasted had flavour and spice, could do with a bit more zing to it (personal opinion). I think giving an option upfront would be good. I also think, it is a bit up on the pricy side. But, the important q is will i go back there again, Yes I want to try a couple of things more to satisfy my gastronomic urges !
Went to their restaurant/canteen. Viva la Viva or sumptin like that its called.Like all other Niwas canteens, its not very special i terms of the look n feel, but the owners have tried to make it special by adding knick knacks (chintz more like it), to give that Goa walla feelings the great north indian looks for.Typical to the point of being formulaic.Food wise, their menu is more true to Goan cuisine, though obviously mata ji wasnt on it. But types of and varieties of the types was seemingly plentiful.Taste n portions were good enough for one person (a hog like me, though felt it too little). The pao was fresh, and made the meal a whole lot more sumptuous.Service wasnt fast or slow, probably just right, and the staff demeanour wasnt overtly friendly nor was it any less.Dont know how theyd fare during the peak summer months, as the air con looked positively dilapidated.Nice place to go to, should you crave inexpensive sea food. (watch Seaspiracy on Netflix)
Visited eating joint at Goa Niwas for some yummy seafood. Tried prawn peri peri with pav, king fish rava fry, sol curry and goan coconut prawn curry with Rice. The restaurant was open for lunch but empty. Still Delhites have not come out of covid pandemic. Food was very tasty, typical konkani but priced at higher side. With three persons our bill was 2500 bucks which is very high I think. All foods were freshly prepared. However I missed the taste of Panaji. Staff were very cooperative and polite. There is ample parking space inside. Worth a visit though costly.Rating 4/5.Sadly restaurant in Odissa niwas has been closed which was its competitor for prawns and seafish though with different type of preparation.
For sea food lovers.. this the best place to feel n eat goa dishes.. good options for veggies also... You can enjoy with little once.. they have small area for kids.. from little onces to toddler.. must try pinna colada... Paneer dish...
"In the event that you need a spot of Goa to break the ordinary dreariness, Goa Niwas Viva O Viva is the spot for you this end of the week. With bright green and yellow tablecloths and a whiteboard with the days specials composed on it, youll feel like youre at the occasion goal. The Butter Garlic Prawn and the Prawn Peri are droolworthy. Utilize the delicate pao to wipe up the sauce. The Pork and Crab Xacuti are fortes and dont pass up their chocolate pudding regardless of how full you are. Most recommended - Butter Garlic Prawn"
We went to the restaurant within Goa Niwas in Chanakyapuri for lunch. The place has a nicely done carnival type setting. The food (fish curry, frywas fresh and tasty. The desserts were unique and sumptuous too.
A bit expensive, but worth a try for all sea food lovers..its like sitting on a goan beach with nice soothing music..with lots of varieties of food to try around. Worth a visit. It is just behind Bihar niwas.
Wonderful place to visit and have some good Goan food. The interior is very beautiful which gave me feel like I was in a home near the beach with many types of hats and caps kept along with objects like surfboard, wall decoratings all around. The food was also equally very good especially the Pao bread and puddings which were the best I liked. Only thing is I found the price was high. Also to mention their butter garlic prawn which had flavor of mint/pudina was so refreshing. The service was also good. Overall, must recommended for atleast one time visit.
Ok.. Not great. Decent location. You can find better hotel rooms at similar tariff. Cant shift to another room ; one has to stay in the allotted room even if your room smells
Beautiful House for stay to the people who are authorized to use it, quality of food is very good,as told by my Goa friends that seafood quality is also very good.where the house situated ie Chanakya is very nice area of New Delhi,no noice pollution, lowest air pollution, etc.
Amazing dining place with goan food, dont wait to ask the pickle, the ambiance is like your own living room, staff is decent and serviceing is fast. Manager is also very courteous. Very much recommended.
I was very excited to visit this place as I had heard that the butter garlic prawns were amazing here. So I tried that and bebinca. The prawns were alright in taste, the presentation was really average, bebinca was good but again, the presentation was average. Overall the ambience of the place was cool but was very messy and the food items here were a little expensive.
Nice place for sea food lovers. It is located in Chanakyapuri. Safdarjug Railway station and Rajasthan Guest house are close by.There is a big hall in Goa Niwas where one can have delicious food, especially sea food. Proper seating arrangement is there. In addition , they also provide beverages as per availability. My experience was very nice. Staff serves food in short time. The price is also affordable. It has big, tall and beautiful building, as it was constructed a few years back only.
Very good authentic Goan cuisine. We had Prawn curry, sardine curry and pomphret masala fry. All were equally good. Prices are a bit high but you wont mind paying premium as the quality is too good.
Great food. Good tasty flavour.Slow service though. Be prepared for cash payment demand higher than listed prices on wall board menu as an unpleasant surprise.
It would seem you have entered a gaint size hall with every color that you can spot is already there in your view. A place for seafood lovers. However, our expectations were a bit high than what it was for butter garlic prawns or the coconut curry. Prices are not pocket-friendly. Visit here if youre looking forward to a quiet and peaceful lunch.
We visit viva o viva, the restaurant at Goa niwas couple of times a year. We have never been disappointed. Warm yet unobtrusive service, great food, no fuss homely ambience. Will go back again and again.
Great decoration for Christmas and New Year Eve. Food was very tasty.. Had fish rawa fry.. loved it!! Crab soup was awesome as well.. had it for the first time ever
The best SEA food in this part of the country. FRESH.... Loved it. A must visit. Will recommend to all Fish eaterians and lovers of Goan food... What a feast...
Nice and peaceful place for people in the transit. Not open for public though. There is parking available. People are friendly across the property. It has 18 double bed rooms, four dormitories and four VVIP suites besides a conference hall and a swimming pool. The tariff for a non-official member is Rs 1500 per person per day.
We went for lunch, Service is very slow. Serving portions are very small. The prices of all food items are very high. Overall if eating alone than its okay. But for larger groups choose another place. For a group of four people our bill touched 6000 rupees.
My nephew asked lets celebrate and have Goan food so we reached there, not much of a rush decent decor. Menu was on a board so we read it out and asked for few suggestion ad well. Finally we have order King Fish Rawa Fry, Prawn recheado masala, Pork vindaloo, vegetarian xacuti, some pao and rice. We were so disappointed with the food except king fish everything were disappointing. It was told that it would be spicy but it was not at all spicy. So at the end everyone was off mood because of the food. Portion size were small compare to the price charged. By no means it was cheaper.TimingsLunch 12 to 3 pmDinner 7.30 to 10.30 pm
Amazing ambience, food is tasty. Wonderful service. Price is on a higher side. But you wont regret paying!! Enjoy
Neat and clean rooms but the interior needs to be renovated as it is old school. Bed sheets were also old. They should improve some quality of bedsheets, pillow covers and towels as it is maintained by Goa government. Swimming pool is also not in use. Building is of good quality just this small small things which needs to be taken care of. One thing I would like to take up is that bigger size TV is not available here. 17" led is available. They must put 32" TV. No AC remote available as it is central AC.Restaurant is maintained by Goan which is not in proper state. All his person belongings are kept in the restaurant area and it is not not properly maintained. You will get good fish items but vegetarians please stay away from this. Tea and coffee are good.
The prawns here are amazing!! Tried the bibinca for the first time, loved it! The ambience is very cozy and warm. Great place for a family dinner or lunch.
I had gone over to the Goan restaurant looking for some authentic experience of exclusive cuisine from Goa. Being tired of the food that we get in Delhi NCR which are largely glorified as authentic food from the north, which are like Tikka, Kabab or those curries with onion tomato puree cooked separately and then mixed with grilled panner or variety of mean, the experience was very satisfying. Xacuti, Vindaloo, simple Prawn and Fish Curry and finished with local Palm jaggery based sweet (I forgot the name of the dishwas out of way. In my experience I rate this place close to Dum Pukth, Dakshin, Paradise Biryani, Matamal for Kashmiri or Chiilies India from Melbourne or Food at Dhisoom in London. Go for it and sure try it. If you are true foodie you will love it.
As soon as you entered the restaurant you get the feeling that you are in Goa itself. The place is so colourful.Has each and every ingredient to feel you mesmerized.Icing in the cake is the quality of food .I have been to Goa twice before. But I never found the quality which this Goa niwas restaurant is offering.Worth trying.Get your kids there . They will enjoy more than you there. And dont forget to order chocolate pudding at the end.
Hi, you will find this place as if a mini Goa. For some time you will forget that you are in Delhi. The food is good, testy and authentic. The menu is displayed in a board and the decoration is interesting as if no body is taking care and its just natural. Children will defenightly enjoy so also elders. Two girls managed the restaurant. Cost is fine. If you love see food then this is an another option for you to try.
I am not stayed here. I love their restaurant. If you love Goan food, you should try this place. Located in a very quiet surrounding but still at the heart of Chanakyapuri. You should try all the dishes, my personal favourites are chilli crab and pork vindaloo.
Peri Peri Prawn is a must try here. The place felt nice away from the crowd. There were some decorations along with some Portugese/Spanish music to get the Goa vibe. Food was a little costly though compared to the service and satisfaction.
Very nicely done up and a decorated place. . . (Since we visited just after new years)Very good food. . . Courteous staff. . .those who like goan preparations must try this out
A good place for Goan dinning....most of the mocktails and cocktails are available...it costs a bit more bucks but food is too good if you would like to prefer sea foods... vegetarian food is also available.. surrounding area is quite clean and hygienic.. ..
Food was just ok. Nothing great at the price. However what we really liked that they had a small space dedicated for kids toddlers to be engaged in. Thoughtful.
Beautiful restaurant that reminds you of Goas Portuguese legacy. One of the coziest restaurants in the embassy area. Food is typically goan- spicy and tangy. Many rare veg as well as non veg dishes are available here.Chicken vindaloo and pork pickle are few of the rarest dishes available in this part of the country. Mocktails are also very nice. No alcohol here so the Goan sojourn is left in complete but still the place is worth a visit.
Delicious special Goan food! Very kind and polite staff! Bit costly. My random plan for dinner in goa niwas was a perfect decision.Dont miss king fish and Xacuti chicken!☺️Cheers to Mr. Patrick.
1. Me and my wife being foodies, the idea of visiting State Bhawans in New Delhi to enjoy authentic culinary delights of respective states had struck us when we arrived in New Delhi.2. Having enjoyed a vast array of dishes while visiting various parts of the country, both at home and in restaurants, we dont easily get impressed by the food served.3. This place has some good food to offer and if you have had Goan food in Goa or at a friends place you will relate to this place.4. The ambience has been set to look like a traditional Goan house with pleasant staff to serve you.
Well a place must to visit on the list of all the foodie out there who dont mind shelling a bit extra, well from outside the bhawan is peaceful and quiet but once you are in the dinning hall it takes a 180 degree turn and in no time you get to be in Goa feel, the music ,the decent crowd and everything around is so fascinating, no stone is left unturned to give the people the right milieu . Coming to the food, a very interesting menu board with a lot of unfamiliar dishes (incase if you have not been to goa and have least idea about what to really go for but the cordial staff with a warm hospitality really helps you to choose the right one. Also you have the manager Mr Fredrick( if i got that rightmoving all around and ensuring that each one in the crowd is happy with service and doing his part by promoting goa tourism and asking you to make a visit incase you havent . You will enjoy talking to him . I just loved their hospitality GOANS ROCKS seriously amazing people .
Beautiful place for an overcast afternoon. Quaint decor and exotic Goan flavours loaded with kokum and coconut make for a cosy experience. Good for families, friends, couples. Must try bebinka...A coconut based desert
Great ambience and clean place at the heart of Delhi. It houses a great seafood restaurant. Food is fabulous and not pricey. The desserts are too delicious.
The prices on the menu were so reasonable, but the portion of every dish was small. So, its just fair, not so-called good c/p ratio.Anyway, the food was fresh, authentic, and delicious.
A Good place to be at, Fancy dishes and nicely decorated food items. It was good experience overall. The service was quick and it was not very expensive. Its famous for Sea/Goan food.
The Goa Niwas has a state canteen which serves awesome goan food. Check for some exotic and tasty fish at affordable prices in a nice ambiance. Service is good.
today i had been to this placeeven though it doesnt give any sophisticated looks, it is a good place to be in.food is okaythe personal attention given by the staff needs a mention.i was shocked to see a small piece of soap (cakekept in the hand wash area.i havent see this in any decent restaurant in Delhi
Goan food in Delhi is not as popular as some other state cuisines (Rajasthani, Punjabi or South Indian).Chanakyapuri is home to various state houses and one Sunday afternoon we chose to go offbeat by trying Goan food at Viva O’ Viva, the restaurant at Goa Niwas.Viva O’ Viva emitts boho-chic vibes and was decorated with motley items such as colored fish, old ceramic jars, a wood cross, a Christmas tree and two Foosball tables. It is a medium sized hall at the ground floor of this Portuguese style building. No Goa experience is complete without Mario Miranda cartoons and here these were used as laminated table mats. The menu was hand written on a board and placed at the center of the hall.We ordered a fresh lime, sea food pulao and coconut pancakes. Seafood pulao took about half an hour to come. Given the decent helping of sea food in the pulao, it was above average, but salty and lacked oomph. The pancakes had sweet coconut stuffing and were doused with honey. This was quite similar to the Bengali sweet wrap Patishapta. We thought that a milk based dessert would be a nice combination with pancakes and we ordered ice cream with strawberries. They were out of this and recommended fruit cream instead. The fruit cream was just that – a combination of some fruit slices in sweetened cream.Though the place is reasonable on pocket, it is somewhat more expensive than the canteens in other state houses. The meal was simple but apt for a summer lunch. Goan music playing in the background completed our experience.
A place to have a romantic date..quaint n calm ambience, Soothing goan special music, posh location and fingerlicious food. what else do you need for a superb dinner. :)
