Viva Italian Restaurant - Italian restaurant in Auckland, New Zealand
Good food friendly staff and good atmosphere
Wonderful venue for authentic Italian food. We ate before a show at the Aotea Centre and this will now be our preferred dining spot. We came in on a wild and windy night but it is very easy to enter this establishment.especially as we one guest in a wheelchair, staff were very accommodating seating her. There was a busy buzz but the food, wine and service were excellent.
Used to be awesome... now the food, menu, bar menu is all average at best
I do love Italian food, but my experience in this restaurant was very disappointing. At least now I know I will never go to Viva again and I dont recommend it to you. First off, I didnt enjoy the food at all. I ordered Maltagliati and they brought me a small portion of very salty pork mince with a little bit of tasteless pasta. Secondly, the service was not good either. I was not explained the menu, waiters didnt tell me about any special dishes. When I asked for a WiFi password, the guy said he didnt know and he did not even try to find it out for me. Plus, I witnessed how they welcomed a group of 7 people who had a reservation. They obviously knew the group was coming, however nothing was prepared. And then 2 waiters started to set up a table quite slowly, while I was waiting for my bill. Additionally, the main door is very difficult to open, which is very inconvenient.
I was so shocked that this restaurant only accepted card only rather than cash??? The rice was not cooked well.
Great pre show dinner great food great staff great service. Fabulous evening all round. .
poor service
It was an absolute delightful experience. Fresh, elegant flavours/presentation. And excellent service from a charming, young woman.
The operation of this restaurant is consistently a shambles. Drink orders never arrive, tables do not get their food. Waiters are always overworked and understaffed leading to dozens of mistakes. They try to attract the pre-theatre/show market but their lack of timeliness makes this a very risky place to eat. The food (if you get itis always good quality however.
The food was lackluster and over prized. Can cook better at home.
Unfortunately we regret going here as both our mains cipolli pizza and pasta were v bland, stiff, felt like instant pizza/pasta. Minimal flavouring and mostly stiff bread that is not fresh for the pizza, instant-ish pasta. Wouldn’t order them again.I am aware the rental is incredibily expensive here therefore these guys need to upgrade their food and service before anything. Service was poor as the two waiters also seemed like they did not know what they’re doing. We asked if there was hot sauce, and received sriracha sauce, asked for tabasco sauce because sriracha is definitely not for Italian pizza and then received a different sriracha sauce-?????I wouldn’t revisit the place unless everything was changed unfortunately!Hopefully they do change everything because they’re just taking up space where there could be an amazing restaurant.
Relaxing; has good food with great service
Everything amazing!
Great food and atmosphere. Perfect place to dine before an event in Aotea Square.
Service: slow and waitresses seemed stressed for a restaurant that wasnt very full.Atmosphere: Its more for a relaxed vibe before or after a movie.Taste: Lacked complexity to the dishes. The sorbet was the most unique dish. Kept me going back for more. The risotto a little under seasoned.Price: $100 for two people inc wine and dessert 👍
Was enticed there as saw huge wall banner advertising a special whilst waiting for movie. When we sat down was told the special was over and we have been trying to get sign taken down. So false advertising. Pizza was average. Service slow for only 4 other people there.
Great food. Nicely explained wine menu. Shockingly slow service with shared loo facilities in a disgusting state. We started an early dinner from 5.30. 8pm main plates still uncleared (we only had mains). Two of us asked for plates to be cleared and dessert menus. Desserts delivered while plates were still uncleared. Not sure if two waitresses were feuding and we were collateral damage. Dont care either. Poor and wouldnt go again.
Terrible service. So slow we left still hungry after 40 minutes waiting for food. There were only four people in the restaurant so they were hardly over worked. The music was far too loud.
Food and service has never disappointed, love the interior!
Food was awesome. Very good value for the price. Service was good, not rushed. Would recommend. Great start before the Ballet at Aotea Center.
Excellent food & service. Agree about the door, and they dont promote themselves enough.
Tried the Quattro formaggi pizza and was delicious, desserts are a no no. That door is incredibly hard (and narrowto push though, will refrain customers from coming in.
