Viola's - Mexican restaurant in Los Alamos, United States
YUMMMM! The food was delicious and the staff was crazy nice!
You get what you pay for…. Service however was excellent!
Staff is awesome... food is great. Love the green chili...
What a wonderful restaurant! Fantastic, delicious food, and the staff is so friendly. We descended on them with a big group a few minutes before closing and they graciously served us anyway. We had a really great meal - thank you!
Stopped by with my wife for breakfast this morning (10 June 2022). I got the burrito ranchero With green and my better half got the 2 egg breakfast. Mine was phenomenal, good flavor and the green chili sauce was very flavorful with enough spice to make it very good. The 2 egg breakfast came with the eggs cooked perfectly and the pancakes were nice and fluffy. Everyone on the staff was welcoming and the atmosphere inside was very pleasing to us. History on display throughout and you can tell they care about their customers. I highly recommend and we’ll be stopping by anytime we’re in town.
Very good food and friendly staff.
I love Violas. The food and service are very good. Our mens group has been going there for many years for breakfast.
Excellent food served quickly! Not a fan of the paper plates.
Good value. A lot of food for a decent price. The service was fast and most of the staff were friendly. My husband enjoyed his enchiladas. My tacos were OK. The sopaipillas were good.
I was there for breakfast. I love the owners and staff. I always feel so welcome. I had an omlet w/ham, onions, tomatoes. So good!
I used to enjoy eating here, but after this experience, I wont be returning. This happened earlier in 2021, when takeout was still the only option and business were struggling. After viewing the menu online, my children and I decided what we wanted. I called in to place my order and attempted to order 3 orders of French toast. The woman on the phone said that they stopped serving that at 10:30. The time was now 10:32. I explained that the online menu says that breakfast is served until 11:00. She replied with yeah but not the French toast, thats only until 10:30. I replied that the online menu does not state that anywhere and her very rude and snarky response to me was, "Do you want to order something else or not?" Um, NO! I will never step foot in that establishment again. That Los Alamos attitude of take it or leave it because you dont have any other options is unacceptable.
👉🏻👈🏼 Soo... Our experience here was nothing close to comfort. Came to try the food but came to find out they dont serve alcohol. Its almost like a fast food feeling. When breakfast burrito arrived, no ganish was provided. Food was provided on a paper plate not allowing me to cut my burrito with ease. Straws had to be requested for. Very low quality energy.
Didn’t even sit to eat because the air was so weirdly hostile. Stank of mildewy towels. Table of old men openly ogling me. Man behind the counter barked “can I help you?” No, actually, we’re good.
Im so glad that we can eat inside again!
The burger was excellent while the Mexican food wasnt as good funny enough. It wasnt bad but maybe 8 prefer more so cal style Mexican food vs new mexican style
The service was fast and friendly. The breakfast burrito was delicious. Unfortunately the french toast was thin and dry😔
Love the juevos ranchers here. With blue corn tortilla. My favorite Mexican restaurant in all of New Mexico!
Violas is a long standing Los Alamos institution. I am especially partial to their breakfasts and specifically the Huevos Rancheros. But, everything I have had there is fantastic. It is the best place for a sit down breakfast in Los Alamos.Yes the building used to be a KFC and it doesnt look like much from the street, but stop and enjoy a meal. You will enjoy it.
Glad you see you have sit in dining..todays lunch special was awesome.. Pozole is the best...
Great food and owners are 3rd and 4th generation. Best freshly prepared chile and freshly prepared food always. Prices are as good as it gets.
Great amount of food for the price. I just personally like a bit more taste. Everything was incredibly bland. I know that is what some people like but for my taste I need more.
The best New Mexican restaurant in the town. Their food is so delicious, and their prices are a steal: cheaper than to buy lunch at the Lab or even cook at home. I like how efficiently they handle dining during the pandemic.
We had a good feeling about it when we walked in and saw it almost filled with both locals and visitors. We were seated immediately. The woman who served us was so nice and helpful. Our burritos were Amazing!!! If I ever return to Lis Alamos, I will eat at Violas again, no question.
Ive been coming to this place for years with my parents. Weve become friends with the staff and they ask how were doing. Theyre always wonderful. The prices are great. Feed two people for $20. The food is always amazing and I will continue to go here until they close, which is hopefully never.
Eating out in Los Alamos is not an adventure in great food. The fare at Violas is OK and very northern New Mexico. I had huevos rancheros. My wife had pancakes and eggs with sides of red and green chile. The bacon was crispy the way we like it. The coffee was OK and refills kept coming. The service was prompt and courteous. Its one of two authentic New Mexican restaurants in Los Alamos. It has the advantage of not smelling strongly of Lysol while you are trying to enjoy a meal.
An essential aspect of New Mexican food is that it conveys a homemade comfort food appeal. The food at Violas is hastily prepared and its obviously lacking the care and attention that elevates humble ingredients into a delicious and memorable meal. There are places in NM that, at the same price point, will hand make your tortillas to order, and lovingly prepare their chile according to long kept family recipes.
I love Violas’s. Great food. I have been going there for years and have never had a meal I didn’t enjoy. Superb and fast service. A place to meet friends.
Just not the same as I remembered. Ordered 3 eggs over easy with ham slice... now most people would think ham would be thick cut but not today a one piece paper thin piece of ham...not happy wi not be going back
WOW! Eat here! Kid very much enjoyed her burger but my huevos rancheros (red chilie on blue cornand hubbiie’s christmas relleno combo plate were the true highlights. Posole and sopapillas served with the meal were fantastic as well. Busy place but quick seating and prompt, friendly service.
We had breakfast here this morning and it was excellent. I had a burrito and my wife had French toast with bacon. The burrito was outstanding. Crisp bacon, perfectly cooked potatoes, the tortilla was fresh and soft, and the cheese nicely melted. I thought the balance of ingredients was good. I got red chilli on the side because Im not used to how hot chili can be in New Mexico but I was surprised that it was just the right heat level. My wifes French toast was very good. It was cooked all the way through and came with a generous amount of powdered sugar. They also serve syrup on the side but she prefers just sugar. The coffee and iced tea were very good as well. Quick and friendly service, and a reasonable price for a table service breakfast.
Great place for affordable breakfast. About $6 a plate for smothered burritos. They have pancakes, French toast and staples like eggs, bacon and sausage. Fast service and no waiting for the check, just go and pay at the counter whenever youre ready to go
The food is always very good. I seem to usually end up there when theyre closed so I wish they had longer hours. The staff is nice and attentive and the restaurant is clean. Ive never had any issues with any good except their eggs are less cooked than we like so we order accordingly..
Violas has been a family go to for a long time. One serious plus for my family is they have vegitarian red sauce (medium heat). It is very popular in town so getting there early for lunch is recommended. It gets 4 stars as the interior needs an update. If you are going for spicy this is not the place.
One of the top places in my opinion for a for breakfast in Los Alamos. The location fills up quickly, but the staff is on the ball, experienced, and friendly.Their breakfast burrito really hit the spot. 😋😋
The food was amazing. I am visiting from Albuquerque and the combo gave me a good taste of everything. The chile was perfect and the people were friendly. My only complaint is the Dallas Cowboys cause I am a Broncos fan!
Great New Mexico comfort food, in a very relaxed setting
Los Alamos own little greasy spoon. Its a homey friendly little place with great food. The menu has a decidedly new Mexican bent, so be prepared for some spice.
Open for breakfast and lunch. Very busy and noisy. Mom and pop kind of place. But, the food is worth it. I love the blue corn enchiladas with green chili sauce. Be prepared for some spice!
It was a great experience dining for lunch. A cobination plate that did not have weak link at all. Enchiladas, tacos, green Chile - it was all fantastic. Despite the large group here for lunch, there was no wait for seating and the staff is super friendly. Would definitely come back!
This is Authentic New Mexico, Los Alamos Cuisine. This is the Chili that taste just like I had living here as a young adult in the 70s.My brother cooked in this town for 35 years.I can assure you the Red and Green chili will please you. The Waitress or Waiter are excellent, cheerful, and ready to fill your Coffee cup. Please, leave a generous tip.One of my favs is a bowl of Green Chili with Pinto beans.
Great tasting Chile and great service, the employees here are like family and youll feel it right away. Everything tastes like it was made at home, and you can taste the authenticity of all the dishes.
Great food and wonderful atmosphere with really nice people that make you feel like youre at home. I was told by one of the regulars that this is where all the locals eat as its the best place in town. My group visited on two separate days and had delicious food and great service each time. Extremely fast even when busy, I dont know how they do it.
Weve been here for lunch before and decided to try it for breakfast this morning. The service was great and the food was good. Not a whole lot of places in Los Alamos are open early Saturday morning, it was nice to have someplace open to enjoy a breakfast out.
Get VIOLAted! This is a staple for Los Alamos. Go around lunch time in this place is definitely going to be packed but they turn out those Taco plate so quick the wait shouldnt be that long. Theyre also very reasonably priced especially in such a usually expensive city.
Good food, not "great", limited menu. You can taste that the chili is made prior and served days later. Limited seating, and not comfortable. Owners live in Pojoaque and dont really care about the residents that supports their business. No healthy or Vegan menu to order from, then again what Mexican food is healthy?
Huevos rancheros for breakfast. Blue corn enchiladas for lunch. Im in northern New Mexican cuisine heaven. Lunch starts at 1100 and theyre slammed from about 1115 to 1230, but its worth the wait! With many dishes, its your choice of green chile, red chile, Christmas (both), or neither. The green I ordered had just enough bite for wonderful flavor, without an overpowering hot. A glass of milk put out the fire nicely. Great sopapillias after 1100 (unfortunately not available during breakfast). Most meals about $6-10.
Was at Violas on Saturday 2/27/16. Have been a fan for years (decades reallybut things are changing. My wife has always ordered a kids bean burrito for breakfast (she loves thembecause the owners policy is to not serve ANY lunch items during the breakfast period (if given the option she would gladly order the full meal offered on the lunch menu). We were informed the policy has now changed and my wife (60 yrs oldcannot order off the kids menu. I assume this change is driven by either by the thinking that people are trying to avoid paying full price (even though portions are much smaller on the kids menuor a desire to control the customers order practices for other more "control freak" reasons. This is pretty annoying since Violas does not have a senior menu or the policy as other restaurants use that kids and seniors can order off the same menu. I encourage Violas to remember they are in business to serve customers and not the other way around. Violas chile IS the best in town but the attitude of the owners and the policies they implement are important too. I encourage Violas to remember that the quality of their food (which remains excellentcan be overshadowed by bad policies that drive customers away. I gave this 2 stars to hopefully get the attention of the owners and others. I must admit that the food still gets 5 stars as it has for years since Viola opened the restaurant.
It seems to have reopened. Not sure why it closed, anyone? We went at lunch yesterday and it was packed. But the service was good, and friendly. Except for the lady who was working the till on the way out, she was super cranky. Food arrived quickly despite the crowd, and was delicious. I had a burrito with green chile, and my dining companion had a blue corn enchilada. Both were good. My soda was refilled promptly. I would go back.
Great food. Nice waitresses. But please tell me why the grumpy old lady that runs the cash register is so darn grumpy and rude all the time!A smile and a "thank you" might be a better message to send!
Great red chile, down home food, the kind we like, the way we make it at home. Enchiladas are delicious, Combo plate is great. I love the chicken taco plate green. I love this place.
