The entrance is in midst of traffic. Parking is an issue and u have to pay even if u park your vehicle at far end at your own risk. The fee collector is just money minded and has nothing to do with your vehicle safety. Thats the only drawback with this spot. Otherwise its just wonderful once u enter the premises. U hv to climb @ 700 steps bare footed (socks r allowed). Footware can be deposited @Rs. 5/-. The main attraction bahubali gomateshwar statue is bulit in such a way that u can not see it while climbing. U can hv its first glimpse only when u are standing in front of staue. This 17 mtrs tall sculpture is true masterpiece. Surrounding views are magnificent too. . .

We have to hike and climb around 400-500 steps up a hill called Vindhyagiri in Shravanabelagola where the famous Gommateshwara Statue is located but the view from the top of the hill is simply spellbound

It is a beautiful place to see, it was the story about Bharatha and Bahubali, learn the story of Sacrifice, there is a 2 Hills in Shravanabelagola, one is Vindyagiri and other is chandragiri, the Vindhyagiri is a Big hill, above the vindyagiri hill contain a statue of bahubali, The height of the statue is 58.5 Feet, And you can see jina basadi in vindyagiri Hill. Chandragiri Hill is a Small compared to Vindyagiri, it contains the statue of Bharatha and 24 jina basadis, The Statue of bahubali was Commissioned By the Chavundaraya, he is a minister of Gangas dyanasty, above the hill there was a Signature of The famous poet Ranna,You Can See them also, In these places, they have a lot of Shashanas,For Every 12 years, there is a Mahamastakabhiseka, it is beautiful to see this, To See the Sacrifice of Everything, Once you Visit the Shravanabelagola.

It was a great experience. There is around closed to 550 steps. Once who ever rich the peak of the hill they can see beautiful view of Sravanabelagola place.

Nice to visit, bus can be taken from Channarayapatna Bus Stand Or Auto from Shravanbelagola Railway Station. Cloak Rooms are available. Lots of pure veg and jain food restraunts are there near by. Avoid During Rainomg seasons as the steps are sharps and will ve slippery.

Wonderful Jain Temple. Biggest lord Bahubali idol in world. Must visit place. Needs trekking but easy one. Takes around 45 min. to reach the top.

Vindhyagiri is first referred to as "Per kavappu" (Large - Kalbappuin 8th Century, but its history begins with that of Gommateshwara in the Late 10th century. A century and half later the town is named Gommatapura, after the colossus, but the hill itself is not identified with a distinctive name. The present name "Vindhyagiri" is said to be derived from vim, spirit and dhya, meditation, as being the spot consecrated by rishis observed in the meditation on the supreme spirit

Vindhyagiri is also commonly called as the big mountain and Chandragiri is called the smaller mountain. However both take around 1.5 hours each to trek and visit comfortably.1. Chandragiri houses 14 temples of Jain Tirthankers2. Main attraction of Vindhyagiri is the 58 feet tall lord Bahubali statue on top.3. There is something called a white pond in between the mountains and hence the name Bela gola (in kannada)

You need to climb around 600 steps to reach the top. The statue of Gommateshwara is 57 ft. The way up is really tiring, but a one time climb is worth it
