Villarrica National Park - National park in Pucón, Chile
Local surreal,
Exhilarating! Only 4 people and 2 extremely knowledgeable, helpful, awesome guides made it to the summit the day we climbed Volcan Villarica, due to high winds, low visibility, and precipitation in the form of snow ( white out conditions). My niece and I were 2 of the fortunate ( fearless and strong mindedwho reached the summit. Due to the whiteout conditions, we were unable to view the active lava lake. Villarica has since erupted and blew its top. I believe it lost 40 feet of elevation. Its not a very difficult climb, if you have self arrest training and arent intimidated by heights, cold, and vertical. People do slide into crevasses, and you dont use a safety line with your team, so its up to you to stop yourself. Gear (crampons, ice pick, helmet, pack, coveralls, boots, glissade sledwere provided. This was over 5 years ago. The outfitters we used were of Mapuche descent, and were so familiar with the mountain that I was astonished.
Super nice

Amazing place to visit. There are a lot of outdoor activities, photography spots. It is suitable to go with children.
We visited the park half December and there was no one there except us. It felt like the Park at the End of the Universe. Misty, cool and silent except for the birds. Leaving Conaripe the road still had asphalt but then continued as a gravel road for more than 25 km. Very scenic, past three hotspring places with as last one El Rincon to the right side (if you took along a swimsuit you could soak in the hot water tubs), the road climbed until it reaches the park entrance. You need to drive on till you encounter the ranger cabin where you should pay an entrance fee (helps pay for upkeep of the park!!!).Unless you have a 4WD it is wise to park there and continue on foot. One shorter trail option of 0.9 km is a marked and tended trail (called Werkenthat loops to a river and then ends on the gravel road. This road /track continues on deeper into the park and the trailheads of two other hikes are located off itAlready at the entrance to the park look up at the beautiful ancient trees that seem to be from the age of the dinosaurs. One of the Araucarias up the road from the Guarderia (has toilets by the wayis signposted as being 1000-years old. Good for a selfie! The undergrowth is a sea of native bamboo. You hear birds in the canopy and water but no human-generated sounds except what you make. You can also hike to the Mirador Los Volcanos (3.5 km one way); the trailhead is within a reasonable walk on the gravel road and promises a 360 degree view on 5 vulcanos. We didnt make it to that point since the park closes at 6 pm and it was getting late. There are a few longer hikes as well- you get a detailed map with the entrance fee.
A trip highlight for sure
Love it, bit ruff but had lovely lunch spots.
One of the most important places in the Araucanía
Absolutely beautiful September day. The weather isnt always like this, but when it is, WOW
Very beautiful view. Lot of snow in winter.
The place is wonderful, the snow is perfect for practice 🎿 or snowboard. The prices should is more convenient for the person from Pucón
Lots of fun and beautiful scenery, highly recommended.
Great place...lots of kids. It Needs a Sky Shop my son lost the gloves and we had to go back to Pucon. And the road is very bad...u need a 4×4...and if rains of snow u are in trouble.
Simply stunning!
Beautiful place, with edible wild berries to pick in Autumn
Beautiful Nature, impressive landscape.
Amazing views and wonderful climbing. Did the volcano with Summit Chile. Had a great hike up and a nice slide down.
Easy climb, but the way down was a blast!
Once the cloud had cleared - absolutely stunning.
Stands out of the parks I ever visited.Possible to access with kids and even babies, which was great in our case.
One of the most beautiful places in the world! I fell in love with this area of Chile when I was backpacking through South America in the early 1990s. The volcano and surroundings are still as majestic as I remember from the first time.
Very beautiful. Must visit.
Beautiful Vulcano. Sem went with our kids and they loved the views and the experience.
Beautiful, Chile doesnt stop when it comes to amazing parks and places. I will comeback for sure
If you climb, you have to climb Lanin. The view is breathless.
The park is beautiful with its dense forest, araucaria trees, and the hike to the glacier. We cycled through the park which is not easy. The road to the highest point is clearly for 4 wheeldrive only due to the deep holes. We had to push our bycicles at several points as it was too steep.
Amazing the way up and more amazing the way down!!!! You should do it!! I will recommend you to do it with Turismo Florencia, OHiggins 480
Awesome place!

Volcano was smoking away whilst we skied. Great day
Beautiful view
Amazing trekking but be careful, start and finish it early. When it gets a little dark its impossible to keep following the path and easy to get lost. I did 😥
Vn. Villarica
Beautiful but go in a truck... The road is not suitable for a car... In fact, right after this we had transaxle problems with our car... Be forewarned. We went all the way to the the upper ski lifts (off seasonand was well worth the trip.
Amazing views of Lago Villarica, unbeatable sunset
This place is awesome but be prepared....you wont get to the top if your not ready for it ( the volcano that is )
Park doninated by tge snow capped cone of Villarrica Volcano
Great place to enjoy the nature and beautiful landscapes and more...
We hiked the three day Villarrica Traverse and views were fantastic!! The first day hike to Laguna Azul took us around 7 hours was quite strenuous. On that part, there where some dayhikers but after that, we only met 4 people on the trek, which we liked very much. The path was well marked and easy to follow. Dont rely on hitchhiking for getting to the starting point! Best to ask for transfer e.g. at TravelAid (~35000 pesos). Hitchhiking back to Pucón is not a problem though.
A special experience climbing to the top of the volcano. The view is outstanding. Climbing up between rocks of lava and snow. Sliding down on the snow most of the way
The road from Conaripe to Pucon has the most wonderful forest I have seen in Chile. Its a 4x4 road only passable in the dry season.
great hike to the volcano! come a secend day with the car to the last station and hike up to the crater
Beautiful place to enjoy nature. The visit to the Glacier will take +6hrs so you need to plan accordingly
Awesome Volcano. Amazing views.I rented a snowboard and had 3 excellent runs down. Even the walk up the snow was fun, enjoying the view.
The vent at the summit was like looking into a doorway to the Underworld. Very dramatic. Requires a guide to ascend, and you need to be fit. Crampons (providedare a must.
The volcano is impressive any time of the year. There are also geocaches on the way up.
I went to climb the top of the vulcano there. Tough but amazing trip. If the weather allows it, definitely go there!
Beautiful, beautiful and beautiful! We came in the low season and enjoyed a lot.Climbed with the company named Antu and were really really impressed by the professionality of the guides. Would definitely pick them as the company to climb with again. We felt completely safe the whole way and were always asked if everythings okay.
One of the most beautiful and accessible parks in Chile. Hot springs, amazing views, hikes and climbing (you can reach the top of a volcano here).
