Calle 35, Cienfuegos, Cuba, Cienfuegos
Villa Lagarto - Restaurant in Cienfuegos, Cuba
I don’t even want to give one star. This is the most expensive restaurant in Cuba, if they notice you’re a tourist they’ll give you a menu without prices. I ordered the mixed kebab with shrimps and I received some chicken that looked and tasted as if it came straight out of the freezer, one side was super dry and the other completely wet. There was some pineapple too which was brown, and no shrimps in sight. Took one bite and left the rest of the food on the plate and the waiter didn’t even think of asking if something was wrong when he came to take the dishes. We got the bill it was way overpriced (for food we didn’t even eatand when we were about to leave the waiter told us he made a mistake; the bill was for another table, He handed us another bill with exactly the same things but higher prices. They also include 10% for service, which they obviously don’t deserve.
Perfect view over the bay. Food and service were excellent.
We came here for lunch during our drive from Havana to Trinidad. The view from this outdoor restaurant over the bay is stunning but unfortunately the food is not. I can say this was the most expensive and the worst meal of our eight days in Cuba. The grilled fish was overcooked and not fresh. The various appetizers were not good. Service was marginal at best. The menu does not have prices and consists of a number of dishes. The salad was the highlight. I would encourage you to give this place a miss or at least not eat there without a menu with prices.
Excellent food and service. Perfect view and access to the see. Dogs are allowed 🐶
A nicely located restaurant that also offers rooms for overnight stays. These are rather simple. It is privately run and apparently has sponsors from abroad, otherwise the food options in todays Cuba and after the Corona crisis would not be possible. The interior of the restaurant is touristy, friendly, slightly overloaded. But not uncomfortable yet. The dishes are quite versatile and the taste is good. The billing was shocking. Two people received a good and varied dinner for 47.50 euros. Since we couldnt pay with euros or dollars, we wanted to use the pesos previously exchanged at almost 1/1.1. This can be done using a domestic account card for this currency and is also required by law. We were told that the machine would not work (usualin this very well run and fully stocked restaurant. That ended that possibility. Since we could only pay with the usual currency, pesos, which the Cubans also use as a means of payment and which is the official means of payment, we had to pay 4,025 pesos, which translates to around 160 euros (exchange value). So fourfold. Unbelievable. Way too expensive. This happens in this city in almost all private accommodation and restaurants, which also recommend each other.
The most unique restaurant we have been to so far! Perfectly designed to the tiniest detail - entering it youre already in the jungle with all the plants and water. The cocktails are delicious and the people are very friendly.
Easily the most overpriced meal we’ve had during our three weeks in Cuba. We got moldy bread, condiments with ants crawling in them and undercooked shrimp for 25 EUR per person. The red snapped was alright, but could simply not make up for the rest. Drinks are also very overpriced compared to literally anywhere else.
Endroit charmant belles chambres beau restaurant bon repas service sympa
Limited menu / sections from the set menu are unavailable although supposed to be included in the price. Expensive for the quality. Salad and juice are not fresh but from a can/pack (although claimed to be fresh). Do not expect kind and smiling service. Scenery is nice. It’s included in National Geographic’s booklet but I’d skip it.
Cute, Cute, Cute place to eat, and the food is really good. Try and get a table outside by the ocean for a fantastic sunset dinner.Service was attentive. just the right amount of time between courses. Wine was $4 a glass, and was a really good Chardonnay . I dont know the brand.Highly recommend eating here if you are in the area.
Cibo non all’altezza, prezzo fisso a 18 cuc escluse bevande, esagerato per l’offerta
Very nice restaurant where you can sit right by the sea, the food is nice and the staff ja attentive and friendly, make sure to do a reservation in case of being a bigger group
One of the most over-rated restaurants in our Latin American trip. We had dinner on Sep 10.Food - Acceptable qualityPricing - Completely out of sync with comparable optionsLocation - Nice. Many such options you will find in Cuba anyway.Service - The waitress never came back with the change. She had probably assumed that tips of 25% was par for course. As our group was leaving, we couldnt follow up.Go there, if youre not value conscious.
We stayed here for a few days - it was lovely. Great hospitality and Cienfuegos is terrific. We were lucky enough to see a playoff baseball game between the Elephants and Pino Del Rio..... terrific.
Incredibly nice atmosphere and attention to detail, great view, good and huge amount of food and very nice personnel. Fair price for the quantity of food - drinks are more expensive, but overall everything is worth it
Great rooms. Great food
The views over the water are spectacular and the sun sets over the course of dinner.Despite the menu being fixed there is still plenty of choice. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Nice little pension with several rooms and surprisingly good restaurant. Nice place to stay in this neighbourhood.
Great views out over the water as you eat… nice place to sit and enjoy the afternoon as you sip on Mojitos. Food is a semi-set menu, and had starter and desert/coffee. For 18cuc its a bit on the pricey side, but hey… Danny Glover was eating behind us, so it must be good right!
The food ranks nearly a good as my favorite restaurant Ache in Cienfuegos. But this place has amazing views of the Sierra Escambray Mountains and bay. Tables are set in a stunning outdoor/indoor environment. It can get crowded so its best to make reservations. The menu is fixed so you have one price for several courses which include dessert.I stayed next door at Hostal Los Delfines and ate here twice it was so delicious. Also Delfines owners are wonderful if you need a place to stay.
POCO CONSIGLIATO
