A polished, modern take on Vietnamese street-food fare, served in a bi-level, casually chic setting.
I came here because I wanted something quick and close to the Sondheim Theatre and this checked both of the boxes. Overall, prompt service, but it is popular and I was able to get a seat because I was by myself and didn’t mind sitting at a window counter. It is authentic/traditional yet unconventional. Their spring roll wrappers are different from any I’ve ever had and the la lot were a bit heavy on the meat. I liked that they had a chef’s special section, which included this shrimp glass noodle seafood stock soup, which I really enjoyed and would have again.
Amazing place!! Food, staff, decorations, everything! Also so cosy place you feel very comfortable inside. Also foods are amazing they harmonised traditional vietnamese food with modern look which is great! Also try their home made chilli sauce! Absoultly mind blowing!!! They should sell this sauce!! I will buy it definitely!!
Really niceAnd the amount of food is not smallIts enough! This point is very critical in London restaurant :)I highly recommend this restaurant
Great food - we were so hungry that we forgot to take pics of the main dishes when they arrived 🤣 but we enjoyed ALL of them. Started with spring rolls, then moved to lemongrass chicken, pho, bun with 3 types of pork (meatballs were especially tasty!)👍👍
Their pho was not so typical. The broth was so delicious, more fatty maybe than other pho I’ve had. Meat was excellent too.Service was super fast!Cocktails were good but not a very good value if you know what I mean.
I had summer rolls and Pho with prawns and it was really good. The team always takes care that the table is clean and thats something I really appreciate 👍👍👍
This was my first time trying Vietnamese food and I really enjoyed it! I ordered "Home-style fried rice with Vietnamese sausage and prawns in King soy sauce" from the lunch menu. It was delicious and quite filling. It also came out quickly. I definitely would come back again!
Its not often that we end up in the middle of Chinatown at 10 on a Saturday night!! But having been to the Theatre to see Bob Marley story and feeling euphoric we decided to eat. We cruised around and decided on this place. Busy busy....we had to share a table and the waitress was very pushy wanting us to order quickly when the menu was soooo mind boggling. The food was ok. Very expensive for what it was but the Saigon beers were good. Then we realised that they were closing, hence the rush!! There are so many restaurants in this area and Im sure none of them are any different at this time of night on a Saturday. Ah well....we have learnt our lesson! Nevertheless, it was a good experience.....
Lovely little place. Service was first class and the food presentation excellent. Wide range of dishes to choose from which is great and many of them I had not tried before. We ended picking a dish we didn’t like and they replaced it without hesitation! I wasn’t expecting that! Upgraded to 5 stars because of that.Starters and tapas are small/medium sized so consider that as you make your selections! When busy, tables can be a bit tight, but that’s adds to the ambience I guess! If Vietnamese food is your thing, I would recommend it.
I loved the food I had. Waiting time wasnt too long for the food I ordered. Prices are fair too.
Delicious Vietnamese flavours at Viet Food. The 3 pork Bun is highly recommended - flavourful and generous on pork. The rating would be a 5 if it werent for the "optional service fee" inbuilt into the bill - indicates that the place might be more touristy and I have a penchant for disappointment when UK establishment add this "optional" fee to take advantage of tourists. Not optimal.
Amazing Vietnamese food! And the people who runs the place work so accurately its interesting to look. Highly recommended
We came as a group of 6 for late dinner and enjoyed everything! Fast and attentive service, tasty dishes with original flavors, nice atmosphere. Will come back for sure.
I go back to this place time and time again, and every time I am never disappointed! The food, the drinks, the service, all amazing. So with that, they can be really busy, but their staff are so friendly and can usually accommodate you in the loft bar while you wait for a table. They make exceptional cocktails. I had this Midori number and it was delicious!
Food: excellent food. I had the Bun with beef. Really great and tender beef. Spicy sauce is really spicy.Atmosphere: chill beat music. In the Backe hound - wooden chairs and tables.Service: super fast food after 10 min came. Service also very nice.Price: good price quality relation. Paid approx 15 pound per person.
Amazing experience, it was busy when we arrived but were seated without wait (6 of us), the drinks arrived pretty quick as well as our food orders. There is a lean beef pho 🍜 on the photo and vegetable curry with rice. They both had authentic flavours, all of us enjoyed our meal. There is more space in the establishment than you would imagine. It has 3 floors and lot of seats. The interior is lovely, even the toilet is fitting (on photo too)The prices compared that we ate in London and the food quality is good, payed £17.30 for the soup and a shared bottle of wine (prices shared with 5pplImpressed.
This is my favourite Vietnamese place in London! Food is authentic and taste is amazing. Waiters well trained. But the best experience is at the bar in the second floor! Alex the barman will make you the best cocktails you’ll ever try. He’s very nice and he really knows how to make the best cocktails tailored for your taste. It’s now a tradition coming to this place early to visit him for a couple of cocktails.
Weve been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and finally we gave it a visit and it did not disappoint. From our food to the service, to the ambiance of the restaurant, it was just fantastic! The food was authentic Vietnamese dishes. The food came out quick; we ordered and moments later, the food arrived. The food was fresh and just absolutely delicious! We havent had Vietnamese food before and this restaurant; Viet Food, is brilliant. As a matter of fact, it was beyond what we expected in terms of taste.Although, one thing did over shadow the food, and that was the service. More specifically, the service of Fung; our waitress. She was polite, she was quick and fast, she was knowledgeable about the food because everything we ordered was recommended by her, and most of all, she greeted us with a smile and So, if youre thinking of visiting and trying the food here at Viet Food, ask for Fung. She will make your dining experience even better!
My parents grew up in Vietnam so h and my fair share of Vietnamese food. Beef steak vermicelli noodle was ok. The seafood pancake was not authentic very thick batter, it should be light airy and thin. The beef in betel leave was terrible, dry overcooked and charred when I complained about it they said thats how they cook it. They then replaced the dish with beef tartare. You only go here for convenience. Better off going to mama phos in Kensington or mien tay the waiters didnt seem to understand Vietnamese.
With a name like "Viet Food", you would expect nothing less than some great Viet food. To be honest the food was quite good, but nothing too crazy to hit home about. Pho was 3.5/5, mung was 4/5. What made it for me though, were the staff, who were very friendly and accommodating. Location is also super convenient, being right in the middle of China Town.
Food 2/5Service 3/5Atmosphere 4/5Cost: FairEven when were sharing the giant table with strangers, the vibe was nice. The food did not meet our standards for pho. It was pouring outside and super freezing so it should’ve actually tasted better but it really didn’t help. I might not know what the standard for Pho in London but as for me, I will skip it next time. However, if you are more into the vibe than the food itself, doesn’t hurt to try them out.
Ordered chicken pho it was authentic and delicious. Came with herbs, lime, beansprouts, chilli and fish oil to add in. Service was no frills and efficient, although bordering curt.
We were here 7 years ago and were curious to know if it survived covid... it did and its bigger then before! The addition of the lounge is amazing! Got to eat quickly as it was so delicious, but werent ready to leave yet, so a couple of bespoke cocktails (made by the friendliest cocktail scientist everrounded off the meal and the whole experience. Top food, top drinks, top service.. come to Amsterdam!!
Modern tapas style Vietnamese restaurant. Reasonable prices to give a couple of dishes a try. Very fast service. Don’t be afraid if you see a long queue, the staff help push the queue through as quick as possible
We had a dinner there. It was really a great place to eat some authentic Vietnam food. Price Was ok and Ambience Was great.
Excellent Vietnamese flavours the food was prepared at a really high standard its worth the wait to get in
The food was great and boasted a complexity of flavours. I really enjoyed the grilled pork ribs and wished the serving had been bigger. The pho was just okay for me because the broth, while umami, was more salty than anything. Prices are a little high, but I would come back on occasion for the good food.Service was quick and a bit aloof. You’ll need to ask for water, as they don’t automatically bring it to your table. As other reviews have mentioned, the restaurant is cramped and you’ll feel as if you’re sharing a table with strangers despite being seated separately. We were seated upstairs and my chair was essentially in the entryway to the room, so I got nudged multiple times by people coming in and out, which was irritating.
A nice place for Vietnamese food within the popular China town. The tables felt a bit packed in, but the overall vibe of the place and efficiency of service during a really busy evening was second to none. The quality of food was delicious and Ill be back.Id give it 5 stars if it werent for the packed in tables and the added service charge. I prefer to decide on the tip, not the establishment and I absolutely wouldve given more had it not been automatically applied.
I really liked this place. The interior design is great. The food was good. It stands out from all the traditional design Chinese/Asian restaurants around it.
Delicious mocktails to go with a very tasy Vietnamese meal. Place was busy but we were able to get a table on a Sunday evening as everywhere else was a 2+ hour wait.Little hiccup with my order but the rectified it immediately, can’t fault the food or drinks. House/techno music, funny mix but I liked it.
Nice, compact little place with plenty of sitting on the ground floor and even more sitting on the top floor. Portions are very generous and tasty. Drinks are super delicious also. I would totally recommend this place to tourists, locals and passers by. Place is a little crammed, so just be prepared to be squeezed in a little.
Excellent ! We came there already 2 times, and each time the food was delicious, fresh and very tasty. The waiters are very kind also. After you eat well, you can surprisingly notice that you dont feel heavy, as it is not greasy food.We really enjoyed and recommend.
Fantastic restaurant - its really nice and fancy looking, cosy and plays good music so lovely atmosphere, and the staff were wonderful, super attentive and SO friendly! They paid attention to our orders, checked dietary requirements and were superb with refilling our drinks.Food itself was gorgeous, the tender pork belly was incredible and everyone loved theirs! It was really quick service and beautifully presented, and the cocktails were wonderful. Best of all, for a restaurant in central London it was incredibly reasonable! Cant recommend enough and a huge thank you to your fantastic staff :)
Great pho that isnt just msg in a bowl. I could taste different herbs in it, served with wonderful slices of beef.It was a cold day in London and I wanted a piping hot bowl of hearty soup and this really hit the spot.
Just popped in for a quick dinner before heading home. I had the Pho Tai which was really yummy. The broth was just right and the raw beef was perfect each time I pulled out a piece with my chopsticks. I also ordered the pork and shrimp spring roll which I forgot to photograph. The rolls were great, but had an overpowering eggy smell. The house sauces on the table were great. Just the right balance of tangy and salty.Staff are super friendly and will spend time to chat with you, which is rare for a China town restaurant. Will definitely come back next time to try the recommended specials and more starters.
The 150 Pho soups are very delicious. It is written in the menu that the soups are cooked with 16 Hours slow boiled beef-bone-marrow and chicken. I think it’s true.
Nice Vietnamese restaurant in China Town, London. Authentic Vietnamese food with large portion, I tried Pho and the bowl is full of beef and tasty broth. There is a lovely area to sit outside when it is sunny with a view of colourful China Town.
Authentic Vietnamese cuisine! The staff were really nice and fast with the orders. I really liked all the dishes and enjoyed the ambience. I went with one friend so I didn’t book in advance and we had no issues. It was Saturday around 14:30.
Veg bun noodles with wild mushrooms were really good, plenty of taste on one plate.Lemongrass tea wasn’t strong enough and honestly, it wasn’t comfortable (too hotto drink it from metal cups.Very fast service btw 👍🏼
Great place if you want to try Vietnamese flavours!Tasty and fresh food! Nice and efficient staff. Good prices!
Ordered two phos, one with normal broth and the other spicy. Both were with slow cooked marbled beef (not for you if you like your beef lean and without tendons or fat). The broth tasted fine but didnt believe that it was slow boiled for 16 hours as the menu claims. The bowl looks small but was indeed packed with noodles. The summer rolls were also a good starter choice. The food in general was not anything Ive not tasted before at other Vietnamese restaurants but the prices here are generous. The staff were nice but service slow at times, so expect a bit of wait if you come on a weekend. Given its convenient location, would visit again.
The quality of food was excellent, everyone was friendly!! Definitely planning to visit again :)
Not very truly Vietnamese taste. We order the beef cook in the pan and beef is too salty and too soft, the spicy Pho is normal not special. Chicken with lemongrass, vegans roll and curry is ok.
Great service ,good flavor .I order prawn rice noodles soup ,was light and juice reasonable price !Highly recommended .
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, and kind service. This is a great restaurant. Its cozy and welcoming. We walked in with my partner and were seated immediately in front of the main window (great for people watching :p). 4 stars because the vegan menu could use some expansion, but the effort and options are there. Thank you!
We just had an excellent lunch here and will no doubt return again before we leave London! This place caught our eye during a chinatown walk - it is a cool 2 story space with nice design and just looks inviting. The servers are all nice, and the food was delicious. crispy spring rolls which were very tasty in a perfectly spiced fish sauce dip; the rare beef pho which needed a little spicing up (they do provide plenty of things to add to your tatsteand what I think was our fave dish the beef & egg fried rice, it was so fluffy and flavorful. Plus they have a good wine list to boot. Go!
The glazed chicken reminded me of Singapore BBQ wings but with a slight satay seasoning, yet without the thick sauce. Pho is good, soups tasty. Summer rolls come with hoisin sauce that similar to the Peking duck sauce. Service is really speedy.
I found this place in 2019, and re-visited today. The food is great, served pretty fast - considering the queue - and reasonably priced, but the seats are really cramp, you can’t really hang your coats. I don’t like coriander, so asked them to leave it in my pho!
Ordered Pho Chin and it was one of the best I have ever tasted in my life! The broth is tasty, the pho cooked just perfectly, and the beef oh my God... soo juicy! We also ordered chicken wings and it was sweet but really good. Def will come back here for more!
Really cute place to eat. The food is great and the staff were also really attentive and smiley.I will come back to to the famous Vietnamese coffee.
