Vietnamese baguettes, pho, salads and stews served in a sleek space with communal wood tables.
How this restaurant isn’t closer to 5 stars I do not know. A random Tuesday night after work looking for a place to eat and stumble upon this gem. Staff super friendly, the food authentic and delicious. The Banh Mi was perfect (crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside with a brilliant blend of flavoursand the spicy Pha exactly what you need - nothing like the tasteless quickly and lazily put together Ramen Londoners have gotten too used to. Will be returning soon!
Great tasting food. A very cosy eating experience, similar to wagamamas benches and stools. The staff didnt come across as properly understanding what made a dish veggie or not...i.e. Was the tofu pho also cooked in a beef broth, or did the tofu noodle salad also get dressed in Vietnamese fish sauce... Neither of which was clear from the menu. Thankfully I think my request got through but it didnt inspire confidence when ordering.
Really enjoyed my quick bite to eat at this small vietnamese canteen style place. Tasty Banh mi and a Vietnamese beer. Will visit again
The food here is amazing🤩. That’s the best Vietnamese restaurant, that I’ve ever been to. I’ll definitely come back to this nice place😍
Great food, great service. Great place
I came here after seeing all the good reviews on google and it did not disappoint! Both the dishes I ordered were tasty, fresh and the right size (for me at least)Service is super efficient and fast! There was a line to get in that I thought would take forever but it moved fast.I would love to come back!
Really good food, pretty close to what youd get in vietnam
I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Portions are massive and everything we tried was so yummy. Can’t wait to visit again and try more dishes! ☺️
By far the best Vietnamese restaurant in the whole area!
This place is amazing if you are looking for a cheap and casual dining experience that serves Asian/Vietnamese food. I have tried the Beef Pho and the Mixed meat rice platter. The Pho is perfectly seasoned with tender rice noodled and perfect pieces of flavorful beef. The Rice platter has good portions of meat, rice and vegetables. The Duck and pork were both tender and smoky. Highly recommend
As someone who comes from a place where Vietnamese food is very accessible and affordable (Australia), this place came off as ridiculously overpriced. However, the food was good and service very quick and efficient, with a good atmosphere.
Superb. Popped in here for a quick bite after a late work meeting. Quick friendly service but a waiter who asked what I liked and made a (non-pushyrecommendation. Quite delicious and washed down with excellent (if a little expensive at £5.00 a bottleSaigon beer. All very enjoyable. Fresh and delicious. Well worth the £26.00 for dinner and drinks. Highly recommended.
Dropped by for a quick lunch and it did not disappoint! Had the tofu/aubergine banh-mi. Nicely spiced, succulent filling sandwiched between the freshest bagette I have had in a long time. The place was packed but somehow food arrived on the table in no time at all!!! Will definitely visit again.
Everything was deliciously prepared. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Amazing food, quick friendly service, well priced. Will come back!
Excellent food, swift service, reasonable price
Banh Mi was very good and fresh. The owner is so friendly and helpful. He spent his time to assist and help us out. We are so amazed and grateful
Probably one of the most authentic places I’ve tried in London. The fried spring rolls are really well made, crispy on the outside and juicy with medium rare beef inside. generous amount of beef in both pho we had. The iced coffee was very, very Vietnamese.Prices are decent for the location. Would visit again soon!
We went during the re-opening. It was very busy as they had a 50% off promotion. Understandably service was a bit slower than usual but myself and my partner were happy with them. The food was great!
The place looked good. However, the service was so disappointing.Firstly, we asked if we couldTake some foodAway as we could finish it all the waiter told us that we would have to pay for the takeaway boxes even though we were eating in the restaurant.Secondly, When I asked the waiter to take off the service because I wasn’t happy. His reaction was offensive. He Then goes onto tell me that he doesn’t understand what I am trying to do do he needs the manager. It was quite simple I didn’t want to pay for something that wasn’t given. The manager came over, by which point my mother and I felt rather humiliated as the waiter had made it a point to be quite vocal that we didn’t want to pay for service. We paid the full amount and left because we felt angry and humiliated.
Ordered raw beef rice noodles tasted not bad. Baguette was very nice i had 1/3 potions sharing with my 2 friends. Service was top rated.
First time back after reopening. The crispy duck was tasty but could have been served warmer. The vegetarian pho was lacking some flavour
What a gem of a place! Wonderful Vietnamese cuisine.
Pains me to say but really disappointed with the reopening. Either ownership has changed hands or they need to bring back the old chef. The Bun Hue soup used to be my favourite in London. Id get it at least 2-3 times a week when working in the area. They recently reopened after some tough times in the pandemic I guess. Unfortunately the same soup has increased a third in price and tastes now like any other Vietnamese place. They give you the same old bag of bean sprouts too. No extra chilli sauce like they used to. The broth has lost its flavour and they skimp on the meat. Most annoyingly for a takeaway noodle soup they didnt even give me chop sticks and a soup spoon. They gave me a wooden knife, fork and the flatest tea spoon Ive ever seen. Seriously. I had to drink the broth like a can of coke because the spoon was so useless. Dont think Ill order here again and thats very sad.
Excellent food! I had a very filling vegetarian curry after a long day, would love to eat here again.
Fantastic family run restaurant is back with a bang after a pandemic haitus! Oh how much we missed our traditional pho! Still delicious as ever!
Quite good and an excellent value for what you pay for. I went for a late takeaway lunch and the place was fairly busy still. Ordered the pork bun. It was a good portion size, cooked properly, and tasted delicious. People were friendly and the place was clean. Plan to go again soon.
This is a downgraded review from 5 stars to 3 stars.Until recently (October 2020), I have loved my many experiences at Viet Eat. The food is delicious, the service courteous, and the pricing quite reasonable for Holborn. However, one particular day, I asked the waitress if she could adjust the music volume, as I felt it was too high, and she responded by saying "thats just how it comes out". Let me inform you that music does not just appear out of the aether, without explanation. It is entirely within the control of the restaurant.
Great place to munch some vietnamese food in Holborn, the pho is so much more flavourful than Phó resto around London and the price is cheaper for the food they offer and the staff is very lovely.
Dropped in around midday while killing my time for my passport. Wonderful food quick service and a quiet venue. Very nice. I dont come to london often but will definitely be coming again. They take cards and takeout too so definitely a win
One of the best pho I have ever had - full of flavour, large portions.
Five of us went for an early I dinner here today after the theatre. We chose four set meals and each dish was superb. The summer rolls and the salted pepper squid were very tasty and the mango prawn salad stunning. The mains are good siZes and we tried the sizzling steak, the lemongrass chicken and the fried rice. All really fresh. Hazel our server was lovely and warm.We would stop here again next time we were in the are.
The location is great, and the atmosphere is nice, but the food is very bland. (For example, the tofu in the vegetarian pho was completely unsalted and tasteless. Also, some of our dishes were served piping hot whereas others were lukewarm. Didnt feel that the food was worth the price.
2 minute walk from the underground station Holborn. Easy to find. FASTEST service I have ever seen at a restaurant! Lucky for us since we were in a rush to the theater. Starters and drinks at the table within 5/10 minutes. Mains and out the door by 25 minutes.Food quality was also excellent! Definitely worth the visit! The beef and pork spring rolls were sublime! The bun hue was also lovely!. Definetly will be back! The prices were fair (specially for London). The only issue we had was the seating... Sardine packing comes to mind.. be ready to sit with strangers for your meal! And the tables are very small and tight. But I felt the food makes up for the lack of personal space...
Nice place to have a meal if you a not fussy about service.Food is delicious and fab, portions are big enough to shearing, in sea food pasta there are plenty of squid and prawns, IFood - 10 out of 10.Service - 6 out of 10.Service is begging to be better.Poor English.Downstairs is only one tiny bathroom.Kitchen and seeing food preparation wont add appetite.
Very good Vietnamese food, I had steak & Plain noodles with wine.🍷 ♥️
Great Pho and fried salt & Chilli Squid 😋 Gets busy so book a table! Sister restaurant is Pho & Bun near Piccadilly Circus
Cheery, good, honest, local place serving up the likes of fresh summer rolls, bowls of tasty, cleansing pho and other Vietnamese staples - all at reasonable prices. Friendly and helpful staff make this bustling cafe a favorite of locals and travellers alike. Like many places, its best to use cash for the service charge to make sure it goes to the staff.
Ive been here twice now and have really enjoyed it. The food is very fresh, decent portions and and the dipping sauce is fantastic! I recommend the sharing platter for a starter, its very good value! I only wish there was more dipping sauce! Service was pleasant too and food served quite promptly. Im no expert with vietnamese food but I do think the BBQ pork could have done with a little more charring and the lemongrass chicken needed a little more seasoning. Still very much worth a visit for lunch or dinner. Seating is quite small and tight so dont bring big bags with you! Will be back for more very soon!
Good Vietnamese food in great location. Tried their honey pork with rice, pho bo and Bun Bo Hue and all are pretty delicious.
Meh...We were very hyped with the idea of having vietnamese baguettes in London, but at the end bith the chicken and the pork belly’ ones tasted the same, basically pickled veggies.Disappointing.
I’ve eaten here many times in recent years, drawn back by the usually fresh and authentic Vietnamese food.Last night however my girlfriend discovered a live maggot on the table next to the plate of summer prawn roles that we’d just eaten. We alerted the waiter, who simply said ‘maybe it came from outside’.Have since learnt that this restaurant has an appalling hygiene rating of 1/5, with ‘improvement’ deemed necessary in all areas and ‘major improvement’ necessary in food safety. On top of this, the service is usually very slow. The unacceptable hygiene standards of this restaurant are a shame, as authentic, affordable Vietnamese food is hard to find in London. We will not be going back, and have filed a complaint to the Food Standards Agency.
Best Vietnamese place in Holborn. The food is tasty. Fairly quick service but up to 10 min at busy times. Friendly staff. My favourite two rice dishes are the Vietnamese fried rice, and the Olive fried rice that is to die for. Both super tasty and generous portions. A bit more greasy than I like though.I knocked 1 star off because of the central location the prices are expensive to have lunch there several times a week. The restaurant issues a Loyalty Card but not worth it, I dont see any value in it because a tiny amount of points is added each time. The place is always packed but there are a few tables on the terrace. But take away is handy.
Obviously a popular takeaway place. Two of our three dishes were good but the chicken wings were over cooked and not glazed as described in the menu. The place needs a clean and the staff could smarten up too. £5.50 for a drizzle of wine, be warned.
Average customer service...meal was just okay - noodles good, veggies off
As an Asian who has enough experience on Asian foods, I think the pho in this restaurant is just about average level. You won’t get a feel of “authentic Vietnam food taste” from it. In addition, the price is among top end regarding its quality, which is not a good value for money. The restaurant is overcrowded during lunch time, and you have to share table with some strangers, which is not a good experience at all.
Review is based only on the item I have ordered. Chicken curry and iced coffee.Curry comes in both chicken and beef option which suggests that the protein is not cooked together in the curry. The chicken is grilled chicken and the curry has a nice spicy hint (not too muchto it.Potato and carrot are nicely cooked and soft.Dont mind coming back to try other items.
If youre looking for something a bit less commercial and authentic then go here. Theres a good selection on the menu. But it isnt bewildering. The summer fresh rolls were particularly good. Service was prompt, but the courses were not rushed. I was promised Vietnamese Street Food, and thats exactly what I believe I got!
The food was okay. Service could be better. I found the waitress to be rude and moody. Timeout voucher misleading! Overall average and wouldnt eat here again. Enjoyed the ice-cream.
Very good service - better than many more upscale restaurants Ive been to in London. The food was fairly good as well but not amazing - my curry could have used a bit more meat in it and while it had some flavour it wasnt what I would call super authentic. But for the price, cant complain too much! They did add a 12.5% service charge to the bill without asking but as I come from a country where tipping 15-20% is basically required and the waiter was actually very good I didnt mind paying that. It would be nice to have known in advance though as it isnt common here.
