Viet Bu Tong (VBT) Kitchen & Bar - Vietnamese restaurant in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong
What a plain noodle I get it from VBT @ GOLD COAST PIAZZA 23-07-2022. It’s a Saturday afternoon. Seeking a simple dish, but surprisingly finding, are they running out of chives or basils? I know I may need to blame Covid 19. However, as a returned customer. They bring me this kind of dish. It’s a really not nice at all. They can’t afford to purchase fresh chives or basil? Let me know, I can buy it for you.
A fantastic restaurant - Great food - super nice and friendly staff - Highly recommendable ! Will come again
One of my favourite restaurants in Gold Coast plaza
My favorite place to eat in Gold Coast. The wait staff are friendly, and the food has the best bang for your buck out of all the restaurants in the area. Has indoor and outdoor seating, good for a relaxing meal.
What a pile of rubbish. We are a family of 5. And they gave us a pretty big table which I thought was nice. Cantonese, Mandarin and then English music in a Vietnamese restaurant??? Oh dear. Anyway tried to order some food. My son had the burger which wasn’t bad but also wasn’t good either. My wife had some noodles which had more beansprouts than noodles. Her pork chop had zero taste. My helper ordered some noodles which she took one bite and just left it. I thought it was a bit strange seeing her bowl food of food still. Then came my curry which was a set the starter was not the starter I ordered I asked them where’s the starter I ordered the girl said oh we ran out of cabbage so here’s some fried okra. I detest okra. Would of been nice if they told me before hand as I would of just ordered a la carte. Anyway the curry, let’s say it wasn’t describe like it did in the menu. It was watery, tasteless and the beef had so much fat I gave up. I did like the Coca Cola I ordered though.
The service there was not nice. The waitresses were fine but then the manager and the boss lady were kind of pushy. On the other hand, the prices were beyond average, the food portion was way below. We spent HKD 950 with two adults and two ten old kids. We had no choice but to eat in the Mc Donalds right after the meal. It was three years ago.
Ordered take out from the Discovery Bay location, a chicken steak bun. Brought it home and took a bite only to realise the noodle was not cooked through and was half raw. On the phone I told them my problem and it was agreed verbally that I can bring back my noodle for a refund and a new bowl.I leave my dinner with my kids and husband to make the trek back to the restaurant, only for the manager to argue with me the noodle is fine and for me to try the new bowl of noodle. I tried the new bowl and the noodle was cooked normally this time. When I took the new bowl of noodle to head home and asked for the refund, the manager told me if I take the new bowl I won’t get a refund. I didn’t want to argue so I took the new bowl of noodle and left the restaurant. I can’t believe this happened to be honest as I have ordered this item from their menu many times. However, the lack of customer service, with not even an apology for wasting my time and for the poor food quality, makes it hard for me to ever go back. They’ve lost me as a customer and I won’t be recommending their restaurant any longer.
papaya salad taste is too sour.We ordered a dinner set for 2. Beef steak is good cooking but with no meat taste, seems the meat was freez in a very long time.
A good restaurant. Veggie options were available but not a huge amount. Have Blackthorn cider on tap which was very nice though.
Bad place to dine in. Ordered SET LUNCH then lost our order. Then came back after 15mins to ask again the order(same guy took the orderthen charged us for an ala carte price. And waiter called another colleague to argue with us to pay the price we didnt order. Is that the way how you treat your costumer?
The pho had been good but it’s sucks recently, the pho stick together and the beef is over cooked, soup is not as strong beefy flavour as before. Most dishes are below average, no more for me.
More a pub, rather than a viet restaurant. Pho was disasterous. We haven’t had pho that bad for a long time. Chicken skewers are not skewers, rather chopped fried chickens on a skewer. Maybe they just target hungry visitors in DB? Best dish was the french fries
Well looked after, all staff great, friendly, attentive boss leads by example a proper F&B manager. Food fantastic and SML on tap! Well worth a visit!
Great food and drink. Almost authentic. Staff get busy sometimes. Otherwise 5 stars.
The atmosphere is probably nice enough for a drink or two, but the food definitely is not. The banhi mi was underwhelmingly presented with overly roasted fries which did not taste of that much. Further, the bread was dry like the sahara desert. The rice in the Mapo Tofu w. eggplant dish tasted like leftovers. On top of that the waiting times were also very long and hence the cuisine considerably overpriced. Finally, I would like to add that the milkshake is terrifyingly sweet. It is for sure questionable whether this place is recommendable.°~meh like a sheep
Nice atmosphere for a drink. But I wouldnt go there for food. Just not tasty and not really Vietnamese! Nice staff.
Edit: photo is from me digging in half way and then realising I wanted to leave a review (so presentation might seem off)Recommended - flavourful pho with the right amount of spice. Ordered the spicy mince and liver pho and was pleasantly surprised! Also staff were very friendly. Would revisit if I come around again.
From day 1 up to now, they service are absolutely remarkable, they suggest you whats good for you which I find it amazing, I guess because its always the lady name Gloria assist me everytime... 10 thumbs up or more, amazing food plus good service.
Food is very average and often cold. Many things often not available on menu. Waiters are rude and slow. All in all a pretty terrible place. Nip over the other side to Cali mex...Scanning through the reviews it is clear that I am not alone in my views.
Honestly Im disappointed vs my expectation. I ordered a Lemongrass Pork Chop Bun with a coffee. The pork chop was re-fried and old. My friends ordered Lemongrass Pork Chop rice and a Beef noodle. The quality was not up to standard. Overpriced against quality. The only things I liked about there were the space, service, and the sauce. The refried method is the worst thing a restaurant can offer.
Waited 40 mins only to find they forgot my food. Then they tried to make it seem like I ordered something that will take a long time. No apologies. No, I ordered the cold noodle. It’s not even hot food! Terrible dishonest service. This place should shut down.
The most astonishing worst food ever! The pho stuck together, there was leftover lipstick on the cups, and there was a makeup smell in my pho soup. Really not worth the money.
VBT Vietnamese restaurant in Discovery Bay North Plaza.Good food. Good menu. Lunch menu offered with some offers. Happy hour from 11am to 6pm (recently extended and was on offer Dec 2020.Service sometimes slow.On my favourite list of places to visit.
Good decent Viet restaurant with bar newly opened in the Gold Coast. Foods are generally good plus a comfortable environment. Reception is very nice. They offer PL football match lives and a wide range of wines. The downsides are long cooking time and no dessert.
food was up to standard for what i ordered the day: mango papaya rice paper roll was fresh and appetising, gambas were like the Spanish tapa on a fry pan served with toast - aromatic and tasty, skewers were ordinary but still good. they got little creatures IPA on tap - what a rare find. very satisfied. service was a bit slow but at these times for the restaurant to survive it is understandable it might be understaffed. the girls dashed in and out of kitchen and tried their best to serve the full house at lunch and apologized profusely for having us to wait. respectable.
Service was slow, we were missing a dish. The pho was awful, and has no flavor, it was basically noodles on water. The owner didnt seems to care. He was rude and went to our table and took the chopsticks from us without even asking. Who does that???
How do ppl find the food decent at all.... Pork chop was dry and tasteless. sea clams fried noodles was just bland fried noodles with boiled tasteless clams on the side. Portion was tiny for its price point but even if prices were halved, food is still horrendous.
Just awful service and food. If they were not the only restaurant serving Vietnamese food there, I suspected if the business would have gone under by now. Sino Management should review the quality of service of its tenants at the Piazza. Their very poor service has completely sabotaged my experience there. I had never imagined a restaurant owner could be that rude to their customers.
I wish I had read the reviews here before dining in at VBT. There should be zero star for google review to reflect the rating. I have had the worst pho - the soup was like plain boiling water and the beef was very very chewy. The noodle soup isnt cheap at all - its $98 plus 10% service charge. And the customer service is terrible, especially the lady who looked like a store manager. I am unsure if anyone upset her but there might be some emotional issue with her. If that was the case, she might well call in sick, and I truly felt sorry for her terrible attitude.
If you want water and noodles this is the place to come! Went to the soft opening store in Discovery Bay and ordered a Pho, which should be the signature of any Vietnamese restaurant. Boy was I disappointed, probably the worst bowl of noodles I have ever had. The owner’s behavior when I gave him feedback was arrogant and condescending, the comments were “it’s our take on Vietnamese”. He believed his apparent success in Gold Coast (appealing to Gweilowould continue here in DB. Bad news for him, it’s going to be a post COVID world where people want quality! In my opinion if you have no opportunity for food including eating from garbage cans this place could be an option if you are prepared to waste money!
Im amazed!! their service providers are Filipinos. Food is good. Servers should understand Cantonese well even if they speak english. I believe; to provide a quality service is to have a well communication between the service and the guest.
I believe this Restaurant has to be out of this beautiful mall. I am having lunch. Let’s not talk services. I am focusing on food. Just the simple Beef Pho. Cost u $100. Not cheap and not expensive. But the quality of beef is below average, basically just grab something frozen beef from market place next door and put it on. I had the so callFried pork chops with other ingredients not lettuce wrap. Man.... the pork or meat is over cook, doesn’t have the juicy flavor. Etc.horrible.I guess the reason they a here is prob the bar or happy hour stuff where people come here for reasonable beer or wine and quick grab away food.Anyway, I just don’t recommend... any resturant next door is better.
Great place with excellent service and friendly staff. Family friendly with a range of Vietnamese food as well as western food too. Happy hour during the week and cheap bubbles for ladies on Thursdays. Quiz nights have commenced there too so ideal for a group gathering.
Although the atmosphere, service, and drinks are fine, but I would in no way recommend this place to eat. The food has consistently made me feel unwell, like the ingredients went off. Great place for drinks, terrible place for food.
Foods were good and my family was quite satisfied with the foods, just except for kids burger. Service was also good, except for the one by the “owner” (looks like..).I waited for my card to be returned for signature, for 10 min., while I pushed the other staffs twice. Finally, the owner explained me that it was because of card machine trouble, showing his edgy and angry face and in rude attitude. All my satisfaction there has been lost. Very pity experience, as the other staffs there were very friendly and nice.Luckily, at that time, my family members were already out of the restaurant.
I have friends who dont mind the food here but when I order the vegetarian options (not many main meal optionsthe dishes are so oily. This fried rice was the worst I have ever had in HK. The rice was clumped together and there was so much oil in it and at the bottom of the rice I couldnt finish it. I had fried vegetable noodles my first time eating here and it was the same way. The service and drinks are decent which is the only reason I am giving this place 3 stars. I would much prefer the japanese and/or italian which the food is consistently good at this Piazza.
The first and only time I went to this place the experience was extremely rude. They were playing some kind of noise-music at a high volume. When we came in they turned the volume up! It was impossible to talk, let alone order anything. We asked them to be reasonable, but they refused. There were no other customers and I suspect that that was the idea. We left and went to a neighboring restaurant that was full and busy. When I walk by this place now, the noise is not so loud. However, I was embarrassed in front of my very aged parents who flew around the world to see me. I will never return to this place. As an extra point, I have been to Vietnam and their menu is not realistic.
The chicken wings bun was really good! Coffee was a bit too weak for me but then it maybe just me as I love strong ones. Was nice to sit outdoor.
The food is decent, music and atmosphere are great, will visit again.
Extremely salty pho, eating here definitely harms your kidneyBeef tastes like rubberThe only good thing is the coconut, which costs $58
Service bad , food overall bad too... pho soup not hot at all, just warm ... food bit over price ... they even cleaning the floor while my family are eating ... and almost no service at all ...
As a long term resident of the area I had high hopes for this restaurant and was eager for its opening. Now after two dining experiences there I feel its safe to say that this restaurant is a disappointment. The visual atmosphere is nice following a somewhat intimate theme however the music is played at a very high volume making any attempt at conversation difficult, and the result being the opposite of what must have been intended. The menu is perhaps the most limited one I have ever seen in a Vietnamese restaurant in Hong Kong with the majority of the dishes not actually being anywhere near Vietnamese food or even available from the menu (out of stock). The portion sizes are very small, the flavour is quite standard and you will quickly realize the prices are outrageously high when you see what you get or in the case of them mixing up the meals (which happens frequentlywhat you dont get. Its confusing why an average Vietnamese restaurant in Gold Coast charges upwards of 30% to the equivalent in Central. The rents are high in Gold Coast but $90 for a very generic bowl of pho is tipping the scales of logic. The service is slow and during the previous dining experience food was spilt on me during its delivery and the waitstaff cursed out loud in front of the children that were present at the table. She apologized for the spill but she made no mention of her cursing during the experience which I found particularly unusual. I do believe the wait staff are nice and mean well but they are under-trained and the responsibility for that falls squarely on the management. Unless this restaurant steps up its game by revising their menu to include a better variety of selections at more reasonable prices, more appropriately stocks the items listed on the menu, revises the volume of their music, properly trains their waitstaff and actually makes the conscious decision of whether theyd like to be a Vietnamese restaurant or not then I strongly believe that it will ignorantly go down the road previously traveled by so many failed businesses in Gold Coast.6 months on...I appreciate the management reaching out however 6 months later the menu is the same (perhaps even less Vietnameseand I just got a $97 bill for a bowl of very average Pho noodle. Quite possibly the most expensive bowl of noodles in the city!! If you are going to price so high then please for the love of god dont be so skimpy with portion size and basic ingredients. After 20mins I payed the bill and although the restaurant was mostly empty I was most bizarrely asked to give either share or give up my table. Classy...Thought Id give it another try but I learned by lesson. Today will be my last visit.
Discounted lunch set includes hot/cold drink available on weekdays only. Weekends paid 50% more. Taste great. Enjoy fresh air from big opening window while enjoying air condition from indoor.
When it first opened it was new and refreshing sadly this place has gone downhill as most venues which open at Gold Coast do.The place is well furbished to a high standard. While the quality of food served is good a number of Vietnamese dishes have gone from the menu and been replaced with sadly western food staples like hamburger and fries! Why do restaurants open and then deviate from their USP ? Money probably maybe items on their menu dont sell etc but I dont go to a Vietnamese for hamburger. The table service is ok however if sitting at bar the staff on hand are useless and it is an insult to charge a service charge. It is very expensive dare I say not value for money. If you have Vietnamese food in mind give it a miss as it has pretty much no food you would find in a Vietnamese restaurant .
Today have work in Gold Coast piazza! Have new Vietnamese restaurant opened - decided have lunch.Lunch have 8 different selection - price little higher than other local fast food restaurant . I order a porklion with rice and their signature VBT wings. Wings have 4 pcs very tasty and porkline supper delicious. After meal I upgraded my drink to their dipping Vietnamese coffee. Very nice restaurant , highest recommend
On a chilling night, it was good to have a bowl of warm vietnamese noodle with chicken slice. It was quite a big bowl. The skewers (beef ribwere delicious and good to pair with a glass of Beer. The bar looks nice with their friendly staff. They have various type of drinks. Would be a place to chill again.
Great place! 👍🏻Finally here we have a nice restaurant in Gold Coast. Great music and atmosphere here! And they have a very special menu, which it combines with western style. My friends and I came for their happy hour and also tried a few snacks. We ordered truffle fries, crispy squid, fresh shrimp roll and their chef’s special popcorn chicken to share. The popcorn chicken is a Must Try. However some items are kind of small but delicious so we suggested to the manager that they should make bigger portions. She said they’d launch a new menu soon and happy hour would be extended to 7pm. Even better!! - Strongly recommend!
Overpriced Vietnamese food , very little selection menu options of real Vietnamese food, more to westernize food..nice waiters tho, most of them speak english well..but seriously need to improve the taste of the pho ! Its really tasteless!
Bad experience. VERY slow service. Got the wrong dishes and the staff “argued” we had been given everything already. Kids meal was not for kids. SUPER small portions for anything that wasn’t pho noodles. Unlimited fries sound good but they are greasy and dry. Never again.
Fresh, great tasting Viëtnamese food. Nice atmosphere and great vibe to the place. Recommended!!
