Verdigris Tonbridge - Restaurant in Forster, Australia
Great place to meet up and have a drink with friends. Food good staff friendly and drinks are good to
Nice location on the river, but could be made more inviting. Drinks good but a bit on the pricey side. Only free table for our group of six (which was just inside the door and visible from the street so reall should be kept looking goodwas dirty so we asked the bar staff if someone could clean the table and basically got thrown a cloth.
I have only given 4 stars, because we did not eat here. We hope to return for this. Our visit was to see a musician, A Mr. Joe Cox. We had two beers and a cocktail, the service was quick and attentive, two young people behind the bar who understood the ethic of working for a living, very commendable. Mr. Cox is clearly an accomplished musician with a great taste in quality guitars and songs that suit them. We enjoyed his set, cleverly played and sung, we are looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.
Just wonderful place to come. Best in Tonbridge ! The decor is fab, outside seating too. Good drinks list, oysters! Snacks food etc all good. Staff nice too...
Eclectic, riverside, good food, drinks, ambiance. Plenty of seating choices. Great choice altogether.
We had a good experience; the waiters were professional and attentive, the vibes were positive/good and the food itself was tasty. The dishes are aimed at sharing, rather than to be eaten exclusively.
Limited menu, but they knew exactly what they were doing with it. Beef rib shared between the two of us, outstanding advice on the wines on offer. The environment and furniture was cosy. One thing for them to consider: their website said no tables were available for reservation, yet when we arrived all tables indoors were empty. How much business does this lose them?
Been here twice now and the food is phenomenal . This time we went all out on the beef rib and it was the best bit of beef I have ever had. My husband is a bit of a beef fanatic - yet we have never had anything close to this. Quality ingredients cooked to perfection. So the food was that good it would take something major to Knock it off five stars for me but I will continue! Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the products. Initially service was timely but towards the end of the night we did seem to get forgotten about a bit. In all honesty this is probably due to the widespread staffing shortage in hospitality and how busy the place was.We sat outside on the shady terrace overlooking the river. In hindsight, for a "romantic meal", I would recommend booking inside as its much quieter. That said the terrace was lovely and once some of the louder, "laddier" tables had left I did enjoy the atmosphere. It nicely decorated inside and out fitting the theme and would work perfectly for a romantic meal or just cocktails and nibbles with friends. The menu has a good selection not too much - suggesting its been well thought out. As with the amazing and creative cocktails. The wine list on the other hand is VAST - Im not a wine drinker so couldnt tell you if this was a good thing.Cocktails themselves were not cheap, I dont know enough about the spirits to know if the quality of them would demand a higher price but based on the quality of the food this would add up.I believe the outdoor area is also dog friendly, we didnt take ours but I have seen dogs in there and water bowls.Highly recommend
Decor is lush, acoustics are pretty good with a range of soft furnishings to soak up any clattery noises. Fresh coffee bean machine doesnt dominate the sound space and music is a good level. Staff are friendly and relaxed, helpful with cocktail info and stock all the up to date cocktail fashions (butterfly pea ;)from interesting and unique suppliers and without skipping the classics. My banana leaf print dress matched the upholstery 10/10
Brilliant experience! Best margarita Ive ever had ❤️
I love this place, but at £3.30 for a black coffee it will be a treat every now and then. Its a shame but I guess the cost of living is at an all time high...
First decent coffee Ive had on a visit to the UK, so had to have two. Eclectic furniture and river front terrace makes a lovely spot for an afternoon drink
Lovely bar/restaurant right on the river, great service, good food and drink, if a little pricey, but well worth a visit.
Enjoyed a few cocktails served by very friendly staff, well be back!
Really comfortable atmosphere, yet not a restaurant per say but great for drinks :D
Something must have happened to this one-time amazing restaurant. Our experience today was a shadow of our first visit eight months ago.To start, we waited 20 minutes until we realised nobody was going to give us any menus if we didn’t chase them. When our shared platter starter was served we weren’t given any plates or napkins but we survived. However, we almost died in trying to eat our main course, their “Signature Rib of Beef”. As the photo illustrates, the amount of fat and grease in the filets made it unbearable to chew, so we just managed to eat the chargrilled cabbage and bowl of mash for which we were still charged £30 (the “discounted” offer from the manager, from the original £70), even though we realised we were given the leftover of that dish. Unfortunately, the disappointment and ruining of a family day was too much for us to contemplate giving this lovely space another chance. The same thought must have occurred to a couple who left after waiting too long without without being served. A real shame for a restaurant with so much potential.
A place which has it all. Good vibes, great service, extensive selections of liquors and an amazing Dinner place. Had a few cocktails - I think the smoked Negroni was probably the beat of the lot.
Took a friend for lunch the soup was cold around the outside and hardly warm in the middle sent it back not much hotter when it came back no excuse food whatever price you pay should be hot wont be going back.
Unfortunately couldnt comment on food, just stopped there for a coffee. Staff friendly, sat outside next to the Riverside, but unfortunately work ongoing there, so not picturesque at the moment.
Visited recently for a 40th. Decent venue, bar tastefully furnished, outdoors beside the river had cosy lighting. Don’t remember much after 9pm due to my main man Anton decanting my glasses of red to the brim…
Nice wine bar with a river view. Good selection of wines and friendly service. Will return !
A lovely afternoon with our in laws , drinks and snacks with great service.
Would not recommend the cheese board for two. Over priced and says home made crackers which are actually about 5 strange back paper thin slate looking crackers which taste of nothing. and then a few slices of bread and no butter and not enough chutney. One of the chutneys was nice but I ended up crunching on a clove! Over priced for £18. Shame as won’t go back to try out the rest of menu which is very limited. It may be nice but not that varied and the cheese board has put me off.
Good for a drink and a nice heated terrace. The cocktails were lovely, my only critique would be the service could be a tad more attentive. But for the quality, competitively priced as well.
Enjoyed another catch up with a friend on the outside terrace. We sat near a heater, but still kept our coats on. We had to go inside to order. Tried the hot chocolate this time and it was very good, nice and chocolatey and not too milky. We both had the lovely cheese scones and butter, as my friend didnt have one last time, but regretted it. We both find they are very tasty and a very generous size. The cinnamon rolls looked good too, but always plump for the scones. Cant resist a good cheese scone.
Amazing food, really beautifully presented, and the matched wines worked very nicely with the food. The cocktails and deserts were really tasty too.
Good food and good customer service, but very long wait times for food. Out of the four dishes we ordered, two were great and two were okay/good. Took approximately 20 minutes for starters and then 45 minutes after we finished our starters and the table was cleared for our mains to come out. We brought our toddler and newborn baby - had we known it would take this long, would not have gone. Overall nice restaurant (besides the smell of sewage in the bar area), as long as you have the time to wait for a meal.
Good but feel its overpriced by 20%.Taster menu is interesting, but portion balance is odd - several tiny and vaguely interesting courses e.g. marmite butter with a bit (and I mean one small bitof soda bread , then a massive but very nice piece of beef.We will probably go back and I accept its tough times, but they should look at the balance...
We have been there multiple times for special occasion meals. The restaurant decor is nice and elegant. The seating for two is spaciously set so you dont feel too close to other tables. The food lets the restaurant down. Theres definitely more attention to the visual appeal of the plates. But the food is poorly seasoned (sometimes over, usually underto the point that we each had one element of the starter that was delicious and the rest either didnt make sense or didnt have much flavour. The main was better but a similar experience. For dessert we thought that nothing can really go wrong with Sticky Toffee Pudding. They were visually stunning, but we were disappointed with the taste and could not finish.Service was good, the waiters were very nice. They were a little enthusiastic to begin but a little too distant whilst waiting to order dessert to end.The restaurant is probably the best in Tonbridge for special occasions but the menu is dated and not exciting and the food is not worth the price. But we will hope this improves and likely revisit in the future.
Only stopped for cocktails. Great view of the river where other luckier ones were able to dine. Cocktails were unique and importantly not drowned. Would love to go again for cocktails and next time dinning.
This was a really great evening. The food was really tasty, good creative dishes, a great selection of good wine and attentive staff. I would recommend and will definitely return
I have posted a detailed review before but I love this place. Fabulous service and great food. 5 stars would be awarded if it were a little easier on the wallet as u would then go more often!
We popped in for coffees, with extra hot water, and a giant cookie. Delicious. Great choice of seating, in and out, by the river. We will be returning for a meal as soon as we can. Clean, friendly and professional.
I am really happy to have such a nice place nearby in Tonbridge. The place serves really good quality food and the waiters are exceptional in their service. The chief is inspirational about her work; she and her team are proactively educating themselves to add more quality food in their menu.So far I have tried almost all of the menu and I was not disappointed in anything, that shows a really good quality in both choosing the menu and in quality standards.Well done, give my compliments to the Chef
Had an absolutely fantastic meal here. Got to be the best place in Tonbridge for food and drink, if not Kent. Great drinks, great atmosphere, great food and the service is second to none. A lovely young woman, with a streak of blonde in her hair, made some of the tastiest cocktails weve had in the UK to date!
Just received a Boxing Day Hamper... the food looks amazing and the presentation is perfect. :-)
Lovely spot with a terrace of tables overlooking the river. Limited lunchtime menu but what we did select was really well cooked with delicious flavours.Staff were friendly and efficient.Definitely worth trying - having looked around at local competition this place is well and truly a cut above the rest.
The third time I have been to Verdigris the first two times was for lunch and this time it was for dinner. The times before were very nice but I have to say it was time was truly amazing! The best meal I have had there to date.Verdigris holds an ideal spot on the rivers edge making for a nice dining experience. It is equally nice dining inside too.
It was a good dining experience the waiters were friendly however the food was not worth the money it was paid for. The portions were incredibly stingy and my partner who is vegetarian got even smaller portions and potato as main course paid the same price as regulars on the tasting menu. The food however did taste amazing and wouldnt be able to fault it.
Came for cocktails and wine and it was very impressive. Friendly service, amazing drinks and great decor - definitely best place for drinking experience in Tonbridge!!
Amazing place all around , the staff ,the food , the drinks , the location ,I would highly recommend stopping by any time of the day even if its for a fabulous coffee or a delicious cake by the river or why not order a drink from there talented drink makers who make the best cocktails or try a whisky from the top shelfAgain amazing place to eat and drink in Tonbridge with a view
Interesting and creative menu, well priced and delicious food. Extensive drinks menu with a fantastic wine list and decent beers on draft. Great riverside location and a rich, quirky decor. Staff are attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Would highly recommend and will be returning as soon as I can!
Nice decor and very well presented. Not the fastest bar service. Struggled with a virgin Mary cocktail which is worrying. Food was good and well presented if not a little on the small side. Luckily theres a KFC across the road if you leave still peckish.
Great food and cocktails, good selection of wines. Friendly service and great location by the river opposite the castle
First time visiting here and wasnt disappointed. We sat out on the terrace as the weather was warm, lovely space tucked away by the river. We visited on a Sunday but ate from the a large carte menu, despite this when our food was served we were given a portion of the veg for the roasts for free. All the food was delicious and good size portions. Wait staff were friendly and more than helpful, even finding out what ingredients were in one of the elements of our dish as myself and my partner couldnt work it out! Will definitely be back 😊
The pinnacle of swanky pub dining. Not a place for those looking for a hearty meal. It’s worth visiting Verdigris just to take a look around. Of all the pubs I’ve visited in my life Verdigris is the best example of a sophisticated modern art gallery. The wallpaper and leather seat combination, combined with worldly flora and fauna queues solidify the ambience. The art works are beautiful and captivating. I haven’t got on to the food; hype surrounds just how good it is and yes it was the focus of my visit.I think I’m becoming less concerned with the very intricate detailing of meals, which Verdigris injects into its dishes. I simply enjoyed the food, but was not excited by their craftsmanship.
I was willing to put the glass of spilt wine that soaked me, my trousers, shirt and jacket down to bad luck, but in view of the other shortfalls, I can’t. Here are some of the other low points:• The replaced drink glass appeared to only contain the volume left unspilt.• The brioche that came with the crab starter was as dry as dust.• One portion of the crab came with a sizable chunk of cuticle.• On asking what shellfish came with the haddock the waiter did not know and had to find out.• The smoked haddock with shell fish and sea vegetables came without the aforementioned shellfish or a timely apology when highlighted.• The bowl containing the haddock dish contained a large chip and a crack.• Even though the place was nearly empty, at no point during our meal were we asked if all was OK, or if I was drying out etc.Yes, the drinks were not included in the bill – hardly adequate compensation for having to wash and dry clean my clothes. The price of the smoked haddock was reduced by £5 to that of the version on the fixed price menu, but this was made to sound as though we had been given a special deal rather than simply being changed for a dish I did not order. What would have made it all OK? Possibly the offer of another free drink, or a free dessert or a bit more attention, but we just wanted to leave as soon as possible.Pity, it could be quite good, but all far too sloppy.
We had a very lovely meal here. The three of us all had the roast beef (on a Sundaywhich was a great cut of meat and cooked to perfection. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable. The sides and desserts were also beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. We will definitely return.
Its only just opened, so rating is based solely on a few pints and some ( very nicesmoked almonds.Overall, good ambiance, decent beer with a mix of large brands and craft available. It will be interesting to see what the menu, availably from November (2018will be like, as the kitchen is run up.
Absolutely perfect. Very warm, cosy interior and an amazing number of professional, friendly, attentive staff. Every course of our dinner was a slowly enjoyed magic of flavours. You get a sense of quality from the drinks, the food, the way you are treated, the full dinner out experience as its meant to be. Most definitely recommended!
