Verbena Restaurant & Bar - Restaurant in Luzern, Switzerland
Lovely food, wonderful staff and owner, perfect evening meal. Would highly recommend to all!
A lovely intimate space, delicious food and drinks (particularly the verbena cocktailand all very reasonably priced. We have visited a number of times and have always experienced warm and thoughtful staff who clearly care about high quality service.
Lovely restaurant, serving excellent quality food for the price point. Lovely décor and love that its female run.
Incredible Sunday roast! Everything beautifully cooked and sides with such fresh ingredients. A curry side is even included and goes perfectly with absolutely everything. The roast potatoes are the best Ive had anywhere. For kids you can order a mini plate of roast. Excellent beverage options alongside. Service was perfect and a relaxing environment.
Verbena is great. Sunday lunch was really good. Great service, food and venue. 5 stars. Looking forward to coming back.
Excellent meal and lovely setting
Verbena is always lovely. Cute and well designed dining room serving up very well thought out and beautifully presented extremely tasty dishes at very reasonable prices. I absolutely love the Sunday roasts with all the great sides. One of the best spots for Sunday lunch in Birmingham.
The Ox cheek was utter perfection. Well curated cheese board. Friendly and lovely service. Professionally made chocolates, can we buy boxes please? Thank you for a special evening.
Next level Sunday roastI’ve helped make Sunday roasts since I was knee high to my father. I know, from my family’s efforts, what a good Sunday roast should be. So I thought.I sat in the comfortable, bright setting of Verbena to be entertained by a taste sensation. I ordered the pork belly with apple sauce served with yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, roasted carrots & parsnips, cauliflower cheese, braised red cabbage, buttered greens, house vindaloo & gravy. The attention to detail of the taste, texture profile of every ingredient. It made me react in a contradicting manner. On the one hand, I applauded it. On the other I felt unhappy that my Sunday roast efforts weren’t anywhere near this level. The meal, the contemporary, classy setting. It’s a bargain for a £16 tour de force roast.I would love to meet the chef one day and thank her for elevating such an iconic meal.
We had Sunday lunch with our family here. Cannot rave about it enough! Between the 7 of us, we had all three roast options, beef, pork and vegetarian and every single component was faultless. It has a lovely atmosphere and the staff and warm and welcoming. Can’t wait to return and feel very lucky to have it in our local area!
Delightful evening, had a few recommendations to visit so pleased to see it lived up to its billing.Excellent service, we were made to feel very welcome. Small menu but delivered on every course and such good value at £30 for 3 x courses. Hake and beef cheeks for mains, but all courses were good. Special mention for a good cheese selection. Thoughtful and well presented food without the pretentiousness of other places.Look forward to our next visit.
Lovely chilled atmosphere and amazing food, each course was exceptional - definitely recommend and will come again soon
Wow. What an amazing meal at a lovely, welcoming, cosy restaurant. Had three courses here tonight (taleggio and chicory salad, cod for mains and a beautiful apple and caramel sponge pudding). All were absolutely stunning and so tasty, so much thought had gone into each dish.Id particularly recommend the Verbena cocktail & will happily admit that the bread roll with treacle and bee pollen was probably the nicest Ive ever had. Brill service too - cant wait to visit again!
The meal was excellent !! Lovely staff , great attention to details.
Lovely cosy place with great food and amazing value for money! Staff were lovely, music was great. Cant expect any more!
I wont mess around. The food here is sensational and this was easily one of the best meals Ive had in Birmingham. If you liked very well cooked plates of food without pretence than Verbena is for you. More enjoyable (imhothan Adams for example.A small comment. Some bread with the mains would have been appreciated (we didnt ask for any so not a criticism). We left just full after three courses.Again to reiterate a sensational meal. I wanted to eat here after reading about the ethos of the place and I was not disappointed. Please support this local Independent.
Really flipping good. Ive been planning to go to verbena since it opened and we finally made it there last night, Im so glad we went. I took my partner and my mum who was visiting for a few days, and we were all just as impressed. The service was friendly and efficient, the setting was a nice balance of clean & modern but cosy and the food was quite simply all really delicious. Between us we tried most of the menu (3 options for each courseeverything was delightful from the bread through to the petit fours. We are already planning to go back to try the winter menu. Well done team verbena!
Wow! What a find on Stirchley High street! You do need to book in advance but well worth it! The food was absolutely amazing - something for everybody. We went as a family of 3 generations and were very impressed.
Perfect..... And I mean PERFECT.Thanks.
I travelled up to visit especially as wed heard good things about verbena. Was not disappointed. Got me from the start with the beautiful bread rolls and the butter with bee pollen A..mazing! Starter was beetroot, deliciously earthy. Main mushroom ragout, and i can honestly tell you Ive not eaten a veggie main as rich and comforting anywhere else.Great wine, fabulous puddings, delightful service. Absolutely fabulous evening. Thank you Verbena, keep up the good work. Ill be back.
Great food. Great service with a smile. Great to have more and more lovely independent restaurants like Verbena in Stirchley.
Fantastic atmosphere and food
So, so, so, so good! Eating here made me very happy. 😊❤️
Food was delightful and dishes had interesting flavours tied together. We definitely enjoyed our meal.We were a bit surprised how long our food took to come (about 45 minutes for the bread to even come out, one of the buns wasnt heated up through to the insideconsidering it was a weekend day and there were only two other small tables in the restaurant with us. Perhaps understaffed.Bit surprised by the owners response as I was obviously not counting any time it took for us to decide on our food…
Gorgeous food. Had small plates of everything (smoked mozzarella, roasted cauliflower, rare beef, trout quiche, scotch eggs, honey bread- have the bread, its amazingto share with my partner. And a lovely redcurrant hazelnut frangipane for dessert. Great value lunch if you like fancy food but dont have loads to spend. Great service. Will definitely be back for evening menu!
I decided to treat myself to a visit to Verbena for my birthday lunch. The restaurant may be small but the food is epic and the staff are brilliant! Big thank you to Chloe and the team, that was a meal to remember!
Food was decent, staff was nice and the venue itself was cosy. Was really disappointed with the fact that after 1 hour and 20 minutes we still hadnt had our main course.
I had... I wanted to have a 3 course meal, having high expectations for the food, looking at the reviews and photos... Apparently, everything was wrong today... We arrived at the restaurant at 6:20 pm. The bread came on the table at 6:45pm, it was a nice entry in the menu. The 1st course came at 7:05.... Both cauliflower veloute and beetroot had a very flat taste, always compared to the presentation of the dish, which was a Michelin starred tasting menu course... The second course arrived at 7:40, chicken and cod... I had the chicken , my girlfriend had the cod. If I had the cod, I could be more disappointed than I am already... The only thing that saved this plate, was the excess butter around the barley risotto... The problem..? Like the 1st course, flat taste, no excitement in your mouth after every bite... And I say again, this is what you expect when a plate with this presentation comes in front of you.... We were already 1h45m at the restaurant and we just finished, fast, as we were hungry, our main course. To be honest, I didnt expect that a 3 course meal will take more than this to be served. We had to leave before the dessert as we had to catch the train back to London.. so neither my 3 course meal finished... And I am wondering, was it a very bad day in this kitchen, no services fault the girl couldnt do much more than this, or this is what they TRY to serve? Because in the end, this a restaurant and a person arrives hungry and expect to leave full. You dont need huge portions, but you definitely need taste.I hope the chef see this...Ps. Five Guys saved my night.
Cosy neighborhood restaurant with amazing food and lovely staff!
Lovely starter and pud, mains were small and a bit disappointing. Great venue though
Classy
Had an amazing lunch here. Food was incredibly good, tried about 5 plates between 2 - like a food-based adventure of taste - and very good value too, sounds like the menu changes a lot so well be back to try out the latest offerings soon!
A lot of thought went into the combination of all the ingredients in each dish and how they create a collective taste. Case in point this simple bread roll with salted and honey-combed butter. The main and deserts did much the same. Regretting not going for a starter now as I likely missed out...
First time there and it certainly wont be my last. Had three courses for £30, all excellent. Very nice vegetarian options. Great service and ambience. A little gem.
Brilliant
During lockdown we had two delicious heat at home meals from Verbena. We went there this evening (23rd Julyas our first proper restaurant meal for a year!It did not disappoint. Wed decided that we were going to share starters and pudding but couldnt resist the menus and ended up having two three course meals. They were both delicious. My tempura courgette with ricotta and nduja was wonderful. My partner was in delights over the mackerel. My risotto was delicious. The puddings were also really great - who knew whipped caramel was a thing?Hopefully well be back before long.
I waited over 6 months to visit and it was well worth the wait. I chose the tomato starter which was fresh and cool for a hot day. My partner was very pleased with her burnt leeks. We both had the lamb rump for mains and it was excellent. Perfectly cooked. It came with extra greens which were delicious. Staff are helpful and knowledgable about the wines on offer. We chose Beck Ink. We even sampled a complimentary dessert wine which went best with the chocolate dessert. The dinner concluded with petits fours of lemon and chocolate sweets. I shan’t be waiting 6 months to return.
Beautiful food, excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere. A fantastic restaurant and a brilliant addition to Stirchley. Looking forward to returning.
Brilliant food, not expensive, unfussy surroundings. Sunday lunch was delicious. Veggie option, mushroom pithivier, was the best veggie Sunday lunch ever. I had beef which was outstanding as was the pork my son had. The trimmings were all flavoursome and beautifully cooked.
Good flavoursome food, good service, very welcoming. Prices very reasonable. Would definately recommend
Total value for money, the food was creative with amazing flavour. It felt like you got a lot for your money with lovely surroundings, great staff and its totally great to see these places pop up in a little place called stirchley.
We shared a selection of the small plates for lunch, all of them were delicious and fresh. We also had the lemon meringue for dessert which was scrummy and not too sweet. Service was great too, cant wait to return.
Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere.
Excellent modern British food, great atmosphere and ready nice staff.
What a lovely little restaurant. The menu regularly changes and the quality of the food is exceptional for a small high street restaurant. The wait staff are phenomenal and each meal arrives just as you are ready for it. Excellent food, excellent staff and excellent service. What more can be said. Well worth a visit if you can book a slot and take your time. If you have any doubt about the quality of their food follow them on Instagram, I can assure you it tastes just as good as it looks.
Lovely little restaurant, great food, great staff and great value
Totally delicious food in a lovely relaxed setting. Highly recommended!
Great food and fantastic staff, can heartily recommend to anyone.
Gorgeous hot chocolate on a snowy day 💯And the brownie... 🤤
I have been here a couple of times already. At the moment due to the restrictions its open for takeaway for hot drinks, cakes and sweet treats and also some lovely hot food. Ive had a bean stew with some soda bread that was very tasty. Ive also sampled a chickpea curry. I think when theyre able to open fully it will open as a restaurant it is a great addition to Stirchley.
