Vatra in Kiev

I was rather disappointed overall.As I knew this restaurant consider quit expensive and popular in Ukraine but I couldn’t enjoy food and atmosphere, there was not any traditional dishes and service wasn’t smily.If you want to visit traditional or luxurious restaurant, it is not for you.

One of my favorite places in Kiev, very good meat and they always hit the exact degree of cooking

We took the beef tartar, the black angus ribeye usa marbled beef and the boiled potatos with mushrooms. The tartar as a starter was perfect: But apart from that, all meat was served already almost cold. Same for the potatos which were fully cold already. Only the corn was still a bit warm. Not what you‘d expect from a steak house

The food was okay-ish overall, but nothing crazy. Prices are rather high and this is definitely a no-go if youre vegetarian. The staff was pretty fast but we were almost kicked out because they wanted to close, even if we had not finished our drinks. Id say its a forgettable Restaurant and has nothing special.

Ribeye is a disasterWaiter tried to sell me all more expensive steaks he could, I went for Ukrainian ribeye, which he disapproved. While meat itself was not fantastic or too bad, it was definitely not a ribeye piece as it had almost no fat at all. Moreover, it’s cooking was highly questionable - steak had a strong flavor and scent of being smoked (why?), also it had strange distinctive “glazed” surface, never normally found on grilled steaks. Meat was looking like boiled. Waiter tried to explain that it was hospered but I didn’t buy it. I had a strong feeling that I am chewing fried Soviet “doctor” sausage, just much more tough.Salad was good (however they charged ridiculous amount of money for tomatoes and cucumbers with sour cream I askedand honey cake was greatService is not good, you always had to look for waiters. The servers are lovely and very attentive. The food was amazing. Nice to finally have a steak after 5 days in Chornobyl

This is a steak house. Weve came in for coffee&tea to summer terrace in a rainy moment (our fault). We have an impression that waiters want to punish us. Treatment was awful.... Steaks should be good anyway...

A rather disappointing dinner experience. We came during busy dinner time and waitress told us it would take 30-40 minutes. We ordered a bread basket while we wait. The bread basket was just miserable cut breads with no butter. The sirloin was a far cry from tender and it was medium/well done instead of medium rare as ordered. The pork ribs BBQ was not tender/fell of the bones and mostly consisted of bones. I think the kitchen was overwhelmed and didnt prepare the meals as usual.The drinks were nice and well priced though!

Very pleasant and nice place with good atmosphere. Food is simply delicious, especially the duck leg in red wine and apples,it was so tender and full of taste. I recommend taking a side dish with main course,but there are normatives of the dishes marked next to the dish so you know what to expect.Also I recommend Kyiv cake for the desert ( it is made of baked egg whites with hazelnuts,white cream in between, hazelnut cream on the top).Staff was very kind and helpful in deciding what to order.

good food, nice selection, but difficult service-situation. waiters are willing but often unable to perform… starter and main course arrive at same time, red wine is icecold… update: better 10 reserved/empty tables in the garden (and nobody is arrivingthan giving it to frequent guests… they are just not in hospitality… things happen not because of staff, but though staff acts…

Appalling - don’t order the rack of lamb it was like a scrap of meat on an old bone. But we complained to be told it’s normal. Seriously this place sells itself as a meat restaurant. IWas told to order the steak next time / there won’t be a next time. Quite shocking

A quiet and cozy place, nice ambient, average coffee

Before you eat your salad, make sure you know what you are eating. We had bad experience and we would like to hear at least SORRY. It should not be big problem to say something like that. I do not understand. I definitely not like their attitude. I do not recommend any of my friends.

Excellent service and tasty food! Both the terrace and the main restaurant are very nicely decorated and designed. The meat dishes are great here! Recommended!

Very tasty food and good service at the location location was ruined. We had learn shortly after the visit, that the food was not good for me and the client I met for business meeting. Better to avoid the place if you would like to get the predictable good result

Its a nice place, even if a bit overhyped.The food was decent, but nothing to write home about, the serving was just fine.Be wary that the brisket is cured with smoke and its pretty pungent. I was fine with it but I know people who would not have enjoyed it. The steaks are hit and miss. You may receive one thats lighter in marbling or cooked rarer that your order like it happened to us.The most bothersome thing about the place is that its iqos friendly, meaning you may have people around blowing what seems to be dirty sock essence at you from time to time.

Amazing ambience.. amazing draught beer.. very different in taste..Quite a big place.. divided into sections.. closed or open air.. smoking and non- smoking ones...Had just ordered a burger to eat but it was yum...Located close to Independence monument squareHad visited in the daytime.. would have even better in the night with the chill and lighting

Excellent grill restaurant!Prices are great. All Dishes were excellent.We had the chicken broth, fillet mignon, American burger, lamp chops and pork chops.All, including the French fries (sold separatelywere great.The Kiev cake for dessert was not bad, but wasnt up to par with the rest of the dishes.I would definitely be back.On the "to improve" section, I would add that the service could faster

I came back to this place through the year. And I am really disappointed. All meat we ordered had the same taste. All meat had the same essence. Sorry but its not the ribs, its like the same essence. Sorry guys, its not for me. And if you serves dishes with free potatoes and salad, it must be potatoes and salad, but not tiny portion. Three pieces of potatoes and two small leaves of salad.

Do yourself a favour do not go to this restaurant when its busy. Service is slow staff wont help. Ordered a t-bone steak and they cut the fillet part out

One of best stake and burger place I have ever taste! Seriously! This infamous place has got everything just perfect! Even price is unbeatable! Ambient is nice and staff are friendly, full English menu and staff English speaker. Their self-brewer beer , specially unfiltered Hefe beer is superb! And I cannot tell you how yummy is their Surf&Turf burger! Amazing place great good fantastic price!

Not a bad place, quite busy, reasonable prices. But kitchen get worse vs year ago: meat portions became smaller in size, but seems they are cooked the same time as before: i.e. medium becomes well done, grilled vegetables do not look tasty (like they were dropped on the plate from 2m height). Also we were not impressed with the service, food was arriving fast, but waitress looked unhappy all the time, splashing water around the table...

Excellent everything. We had the bruschetta, oysters, fillet mignon, the beef medallions, one cheese cake, a kiyv cake, two wines, and a coffee. It was all fantastic, i cannot recommend this place enough, the staff is great — don’t forget to tip ;)

Very good place, suitable for everyone. Had the surf e-turf burger with double marbled beef and tiger prawn. Was absolutely delicious. Our family had beetroot soup, bullion, steak. The staff were very polite, helpful and were constantly informing on the dish time even when we didnt ask for it.11/10 would recommend.

Delicious food, excellent location, relatively cheap/affordable prices and good choice from menu.2 stars are given to the service of the restaurant. Although it was half empty, we still waited around 30 min for burgers, 20 min for tea and another 20 min for shrimps, which took us at the end more then hour just to get our food... Means a restaurant was a bit understaffed.

Its a nice place to stay, eat and drink. Espacially the beer is great, I like it a lot. Sure, its not the cheapest place in the capital of Ukraine, but everyone is able to speak English and I always got a table. The service is friendly and fast. So, theres nothing to complain. You make a good job.

Really recommend to have food here. Steak was great, salad amazing and there is plenty of choice what to drink. Nice outside terrace to sit, prices not too high. High quality food and service.

Its ok, the wait for the food was longer than I used to in kiev, the serve is tiny compered to price, and the taste was below my expectations for the price. I will suggest to come to this place for maximum a drink and snack, the location is nice and the atmosphere was good.

Place worth having a meal. Both inside and outside seats are cosy, comfortable. Groups from 2 to 7 people can find a seat there. Mind though, this place is usually crouded and staff work their skins off.Steaks and tartar are this restaurants speciality, served well, with side dishes. Very tasty, and enough to get your full.in summer menu there is Holodnyk a Lithuanian cold soup ith beetroot. Looks beautiful, yoghurt and beetroot liquid mixture is served separately from meat and veggies. So you pour whatever amount you want. Looks great and is worth trying.Desserts are quite decent, but scarce. Some of the most popular positions are often sold out by the end of the day.5-6 positions of beer, just the usual assortment of strong spirits.

Absolutely amazing delicious and value for money. Our waitress was lovely and very patient with our non Ukrainian speaking! $79 Australian for two huge mains three starters a side a Schweppes and five beers! Brisket, steak, potatoes, prawns, steak tartare and oysters! Would definitely recommend coming here. And the huge raw cuts of meat in the fridge was soooo great to look at. Thank you very much!

Lovely restaurant with a traditional cuisine from the Ukrainian Carpathians. The food is outstanding! All about meat. You can find there quite rare specialities such as an eel and a bone marrow. Highly recommended.

Accidentally walked in for late lunch, what a good find! Very friendly service, easy to order menu in English, homemade ingredients (including cheese and smoked fish), and super tasty everything!! It’s located in the good shopping area but tucked away from the main street crowd. Love it!!

I think its a nice place overall, really interesting interior, good staff, relaxing music. Unfortunately my food experience wasnt so good. My fuagra was absolutely terrible, black outside and undercooked inside, really greasy. Also Berry sauce on a side looks like cold jelly leftovers. Im really disappointed. My salad was pretty good, dessert Pavlova was ok, unfortunately it was with lemon curd, not with passion fruit, like in a menu. My husband was satisfied with his choice. So my suggestion - Do not order fuagra there.

Restaurant from the pricier side of Kiev, not that it would be that pricy even then. We had many different dishes and there were varying degrees of success. I did not like my pulled pork burger at all, because it was so sweet and there was peach and sauerkraut in it, the pork did not have any taste on it either. On the other hand duck and brisket were excellent. Filet mignon was dry and overcooked.There were some craft beers, nothing special but it is always a plus in my books. Service was quite slow and they sometimes forgot things. English menus were available, but ordering from them proved to be difficult for the waiter to understand.Solid restaurant with few bad choices in dishes.

Nice place, dead slow service and rated way too high here on Google Maps.I came there for a dinner, waited for 15 minutes until a waiter approached me. Then another 10 to have the table setup. After more for the drink.Starter arrives, and it was over spiced and not that tasty.After the starter, Ive waiter for about half an hour for the steak to arrive, and it was over-cooked. Something that is nice acceptable for a steak-house.Thr desert, Kiev cake, was really tasty.Overall, it is nice, but I expect much more from this restaurants-family.

The best steak Ive found in Kyiv! Highly recommended it!
