Valters at the Maennerchor in Columbus
Description
Privilege
First time here...and wow, I was absolutely impressed! The atmosphere is so welcoming and warm. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was ahhhhmaaazing!! I will definitely be back!!
MoreThis is no review, just an Information: Im half Austrian half Bavarian, and I live 10 minutes away from Bavaria. I saw this pork knuckle/Schweinehaxe recipe on TV and I had a good laugh. It might taste good, but you should know that curry and Coke and some other things have nothing to do with authentic German cuisine. But, as I said before, its probably delicicious anyway, so enjoy your meal.
MoreKay and Fletcher visited 10/10/22 Fletcher had the Reuben --outstanding food and service. Enjoyed meeting the very nice owner.
MoreWhen you need to feed 25 people for brunch and you want them to be impressed…you take them to Valters. Best spot in town!
MoreI had high expectations for our visit to Valters. The Husband and I were disappointed in the food. His schnitzel was dry and my Spätzle dish didnt have caramelize onions. It was basically the German version of Mac and cheese with hot dogs and slices of red onion.
MoreThe best meal I have ever had.
We went for my wifes birthday and the service and food were great. Fantastic schnitzel and spaetzle. The Matterhorn burger was great - they actually made it how I wanted it, which is hard to find sometimes in burger prep. The German Chocolate Cake was a great dessert on top. Will definitely go again!
MoreLiterally the best French toast I’ve ever had in my life. Great food and great vibes! Visiting from out of town at the time, and cannot will definitely be back for more.
MoreFine, but not too good. We were not offered an Octoberfest special beer or they didnt have any.
MoreVery salty, wayyyy over priced and I think the cooked the food 2 days ago and heated it up. Definitely wasnt fresh. First and Last visit. Yuck
MoreStumbled upon this gem exploring around while heading to a different restaurant down the street. Random customer eating outside said it’s one of his favorite places so my fiancé and I gave it a shot. Hands down one of the most delicious meals and best service I have ever had at a place. Very chill vibes, music play list is on point and not too loud so you can still have conversation. Ask for Mike G. When you come he’s the best.
MoreFirst time visit and did not disappoint. Stopped in for lunch and had the Pork Schnitzel. Service was fast and friendly. Very nice eating experience to say the least. Ill be back for sure.
MoreDelicious German Food. Great Server !!
Ive visited for brunch and lunch at this point, and both were phenomenal. The service on both occasions was solid, but the food really stands out. The breakfast has with the house-made corned beef is among the best in the city. The location is easy to get to, and they have a few parking spots to themselves; a rarity in this area. Highly recommend dining here if youre in the area.
MoreWe had some sides, drinks, and tiramisu. Everything tasted great and the service was excellent. The spätzle were perfect and the tiramisu was definitely made in-house. Sitting outside was really nice and Im sure well be back.
MoreLovely German restaurant. Atmosphere was cozy and exotic (in a German wayand the food was incredible. Our meals were rather heavy, so walking home after was a little cumbersome but worth it. Never hurts to make a reservation first--especially as a large group. We were lucky they were able to seat us so quickly.
MoreDo yourself a favor and visit this spot… right on South High Street! The service is unmatched. The owner himself and his outstanding staff truly care about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in our mouths. Our new go to place for sure. Cant wait for the next visit! 🤤
MoreWe were at Valters for brunch this morning and had a wonderful time. The service was great and our waiter was especially lovely. His name is Thiago. We enjoyed the food and because of the services from Thiago and your team, we were thankful for our overall experience. We will certainly be back and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! Thanks for an amazing and memorable experience Valters at the Maennerchor!
MoreThis was by far the best meal I have ever had in my entire life. Our waiter was Mike. He was incredible and helped us pick our food out. Every single item on the menu is an experience of it’s own and is something you must experience once.
MoreThe food was delicious. Informal atmosphere and great food. If you order a large beer expect a liter of beer. I had the steak with was served in a skillet.with fries. Delicious. The schnitzel and other offerings were deemed excellent by my tablemates.
MoreWe were driving through Ohio from the Lone Star State and found this restaurant based on other reviews. All the food we had here was excellent including the unique sauterkraut balls. Building is from 1848. Definitely recommend if youre looking for good German cuisine and a nice setting. Dessert first, friends! Cheers!
MoreVery good schnitzel. Good starters. Our server was great, unfortunately, I cant remember his name. Too much German beer! We had a very good time.
MoreLove taking friends and family to this place to share the experience. Our favorite is definitely the skillet. And it’s fun pairing that with a flight of many classic German beers. The mustard they make themselves is so good after returning a few times we had to buy a jar! Can’t recommend enough
MoreGood food, fast service! German village around corner with more German stores and restaurants, good walking area
MoreI have only had their breakfast but the skillets are tasty. Also the sauerkraut balls, while not a breakfast item, are a great brunch option when they are serving both breakfast and lunch (and the breakfast mustard for dipping is good, too). The patio is a nice place for conversation and dining.
MoreEverything was wonderful! Reuben was large, messy and absolutely delicious! Yummy homemade crispy potato chips. Red cabbage was perfectly cooked. Awesome shaded porch thanks to extra large umbrellas. Superior service.
MoreStoped in to have a drink. . . Didnt eat but menu and food we saw looked good. . . Service was good
MoreWe had reservations for Fathers Day brunch and there was a minor misunderstanding about our seating. Our waiter, a delightful young man, asked if we would like to sit upstairs. He escorted us up to a seldom used dinning area, opened all windows, and took our orders. We were the only couple up there. This polite and attentive young man kept our drinks filled, checked on us frequently, and was an all around pleasure to be served by. We had a truly quiet and homey meal, even had our own restroom!!! We have always loved Valters and this experience reinforced the feeling of a valued customer and even family. Bravo Valters!!!
MoreWe went for my birthday and I had a great time. Our waiter was beyond excellent. He was kind, professional, and really just well job well done. The food was great. Perfect German dinner, beer, dessert. We will definitely come back.
MoreFantastic experience for a couple of first timers celebrating our birthdays. Server was on point in all aspects, dont think weve ever had a better one. Great recommendations, food was out quick, fresh and delicious! Will be back for certain!
MoreHaving been stationed in Germany and eating some of the best food I have ever eaten....this establishment is second to none. The pork schnitzel and spatzel tasted like it was straight out of a mom and pop stop somewhere along the Rhine River. The German Chocolate Cake Martini was to die for!!! The service was some of the best that i have ever experienced. If I could give this place 10 stars I would!
MoreThis place is incredible. The ambience, food, staff, would give 10/10 for all. Tried both the dark and light beers on the menu, both are awesome.Food - Ordered 1kettle chips with beer cheese, was super delicious 2Bratwurst was amazing as well
MoreNice dinner, wife and I at Valters last night. Service was great, thanks Tyler n other staff! Food was tasty and well-presented. We had hot wing appetizer and Rhein trio sausages with sauerkraut, both delish. Then Prime rib, so good!, regretted getting only the 6 oz. Cast iron is the only way to go for prime rib to keep it hot. Well done Valters!! Fries were crispy while onions, red peppers and mushrooms were cooked to perfection. Finished w cream puffs to-go, they come as a set: one each of chocolate, espresso and vanilla if I remember right. Nice, fairly light treat after all that meat. Loved the groovy old building. Gotta go back and try more.
MoreWent here for brunch with my family, and it was without a doubt the best breakfast I’ve ever had! I’ve been here 5 times now and each time I try something new it gets better every time. The staff is so friendly and makes you feel at home. I got the wings (some of the best I’ve hadand the hangover skillet breakfast and it was so flavorful! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus and is such a gem.
MoreI really wanted to give this place five stars but the breakfast potatoes (even if they are authenticare a greasy mess. My wifes German bologna sandwich was great, and my breakfast skillet came in a 20 in lodge cast iron pan. I definitely come here again in spite of the potatoes.
MoreOur service was wonderful. Professional and courteous. The food was delicious - and who wouldnt like a delicious breakfast in the afternoon? An enjoyable experience for me..
MoreWe were a big company and we immediately found a good table. Even though it was Saturday night . The service was pleasant. Good beer and delicious food. I love the German pork knuckle, it was not bad, but a little dry for my taste. The sausages and lamb ribs were excellent. My friends also noted that the desserts were very tasty!👍🏼
MoreWhat a fantastic authentic German experience! The beer is cold, and they have legit German beer you wont find everywhere. Rhein trio and wings are amazing. Never been to, but brunch on weekends is probably to die for.. Staff is spot on. Absolutely worth a stop! Highly recommended. Added 3/9/22 - still strong. Swing by!!!
MoreVery good all around. Got Pierogi to start and they were very good, everyone enjoyed them. I got the pork schnitzel and it was great. Friend got the short rib burger and that was also very very good. Heard the bier cheese was great as well. Hofbrau Dunkel to drink was also quite good.
MoreIt is a beautiful cozy place, perfect ambience but overall food won my heart ♥ everything was delicious and the staff is friendly and attent to you.The portions are generous and the taste was divine. Definitely coming back.
MoreThe hangover skillet is amazing. Our waiter Mike was great and so helpful. This was our first time visiting and we look forward to coming back and trying more German deliciousness (especially the schnitzelfrom their substantial menu.
MoreIf youre planning a trip to German village in Columbus, Valters is a must. I was raised in Germany as a military brat and finding authentic German food has not been easy in the states as one could imagine. Valters is everything I hoped it would be, schnitzel, bratwurst, and swinehexen, just to name a few. The food was just as I remember having in Germany. The decor is that of a German gast haus, or any restaurant you might find around Berlin or Frankfurt. The staff is friendly and attentive. Germany will always be home to me, and Valters is the closest I have been in 30 years. If you are looking for authentic German food, look no further.
MoreWe visited Valters while we were passing through Columbus and we were not disappointed! Some of the best lamb I have had in my life! The location was very pretty and the staff was extremely friendly! We were even lucky enough to meet and speak with Valter himself while we were there. It was a pleasure. Even though we are not from the area and we only visited once, I would definitely recommend. I know we will be back the next time we are in town.
MoreThis restaurant is set in an older unique looking structure right along High Street. They make great use out of their patio with great simple decor and well maintained landscaping. Our waiter was amazing. He was quick and attentive. Had such a great personality, nice and chill. Got our orders accurate and quickly. The food was of great quality. I had a spring mix salad with chicken and it was delicious. It was served with a baguette so good youll be tempeted to ask for another.Looking forward to going back again.
MoreAn excellent gem of a place. Perfect for brunch in my opinion with the options they have. Staff is friendly and fast with service. Outside seating was comfy and the place is lovely. They do have a parking lot next to the place so you don’t have to worry about parking. What I recommend would be to go around brunch time and get one of their mimosas that they have. In terms of what to try I have their breakfast sandwich that am amazing mustard on it with egg and Bologna that was insanely good. Most people think Schmidt’s when thinking of German village but this place is a place to try in my opinion over Schmidt’s. What they got here is quality food and service.
MoreIncredible German breakfast skillet that really hits the spot on a cool fall evening. I’m not even sure what a German breakfast looks like but I hope this is what they’re having over there!Considerate and friendly service too!
MoreI had a lovely lunch here with my family - the service is great and the food is delicious! We started with the Rhein Trio which is a nice way to sample the different sausages and get the homemade sauerkraut. My schnitzel sandwich was perfection and I really enjoyed the authentic German potato salad (its served warm!). They even had Bitburger beer on draft which is a family favorite.
MoreIt was a beautiful day, we were thirsty and near the Brewery District. The patio called to us as we passed on High Street. We were seated next to a large birthday party group who interacted with us about my DD-214 Alumni shirt. There were Veterans in their group as well.We ordered a couple German Brews and a pretzel. The pretzel was hot! It was tasty as well with a couple of the mustard sauces. The beer was awesome and refreshing on this sunny day.We will be back when in the area for sure!
MoreI visited here with my partner. We stumbled upon this place on a Saturday. We sat out on the patio. The waiter was friendly. The chef came out post meal to inquire about our experience. I really liked the vibe. The food was high quality. We ordered the pirogies, hot toddy’s, French onion soup, prime rib French dip and cream puffs for desert. I’ll be back.
MoreMy favourite German restaurant in Columbus!Beautiful restaurant, cold beers, mouthwatering food, and very fun hang out vibes. Perfect place to go for brunch (especially if you had too many drinks the night before).
