Contrary to “national” open air museums like Skansen, this museum recreates buildings from a single locale (Västmanland). This makes the museum balanced and believable. On a Wednesday in October, the buildings were closed and there was no particular program. Still walking around the village and seeing the live farm animals was a pleasant experience.

This is a great place to go with small kids. Completely free to enter and walk around. A number of animals on show, and depending on day or season, classic Swedish buildings to go into a see how life was previously. Shop opening right now has been limited due to covid, but when open there are a number of nice stores to wander around. A nice cafe and seating in the main square is a fantastic stop off when the weather us good. The midsommar celebrations are a goid thing to visit for as well. Heartily recommend a visit.

Very good exposition and atmosphere. Lack of labels and texts in English is a serious drawback. I couldnt understand 90% of all the information panels.

Swedens old farmers history buildings and animals and live actors in classic costumes from the past. Very popular around midsummer, open every day all year long. Markets with silver jewelry 💍 and other accessories everything handmade on spot.

You know, it is just lovely here. It is grandma village house right next to city that you never had opportunity to visit. And it’s for free! Animals are taken good care of, they all look clean and healthy! The museum-houses are pretty packed with old-times stuff, however, there could be a little bit more information in English provided. Museum is doing events and fairs according to the celebrations, what is awesome. Place is kids and dogs-friendly, there is caffe for fika to buy.

This museum represents the real life accommodation conditions of hundreds of years ago. You can imagine how people live and when you are in the house or the gardens. It is a good education about regional lifestyle of Västerås

Cute place to walk around and the restaurant has great food. Only thing that bothered me last time I was there was that there was stinging nettles everywhere so couldnt let my child have as close a look at all the animals as normal.

Great experience for the whole family. We did a guided tour with a group of seven. The guide told about the history as if it was today. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and sense of humour made it a wonderful and educative experience.Afterwards we sat in the garden for a lunch at the local restaurant, Wärdshuset Gaggeska Garden. Good food and great services with a smile. Whatever your age, if you are in a pram or wheelchair, with a group or family or just the two of you? Go and visit the Vallby Open Air Museum. You love it!
